@quadrillio, A piece of advice to you. If you want the right to list projects you worked on (as part of a team or single handedly) as part of your previous projects even when working under someone make that right known to the employer and make sure you defend what you are asking for. If the employer says NO and you go ahead and list them after you may have left them then you are wrong. If the employer says YES and you go ahead and list them after you may have left them then you are right. On issues likes these there is no middle ground. Have issues like these sorted out before signing any contract. That is the only way you can prove anything if disagreements come up. I only feel for quadrillio based on the comment he made about what becomes of someone's projects if he leaves a company and wondered if it then means the person will have to start from zero number of projects. KINGUCHE19:So, I should have called the numbers to confirm you own the aratext.com? Someone newly registers on a discussion forum, makes an allegation and points to a site as proof of ownership and I am expected to call the numbers or do a whois? My dear, the username kinguche19 is what I would have checked out on the website and not the name you later provided as yours. Even if a call went through and a woman tells me she is kinguche19 I will hang up and treat the called party as scam. If you visit my personal site at www.afamnnaji.com or any of my business websites at www.justwebservices.com or www.justalternativepower.com you will not need a magician to link any of the sites to me assuming there is a reason to prove to anyone that I own them. biggjoe:The content in bold refers, this is a clear cut issue and not a matter of what you think or what is likely. Stick to what happened please and stop trying to justify anything that you may have stated wrongly. I don't owe either of the parties, I don't know either neither am I interested in protecting any. |
Well, if the CBN governor can print N400B in just 2 months on the job without any recourse to the constitution then I think this man needs to be monitored closely otherwise we may wake up one day to realize that he just printed only N50B that was sent to his house. On this issue the law makers are in order. You cannot commit another crime in the name of tackling one. |
biggjoe:I will advice you stick to facts when you get involved in debates or disagreements. Who is at home with quadrillio? I focus on issues and not personalities. I objected to the poster's choice of words and blanket condemnation of Nigerian developers, made it clear to here that thus far no one can take sides based on allegations of one person, wondered why quadrillio has not deemed it fit to respond and yet went ahead to prove that he changed his earlier post as at the time we were having these exchanges making it clear that he deliberately did not want to respond to the allegations as at that time. So, what has siding anyone got to do with the facts above? |
Cactus:Exactly! But the problem is that you will always find yourself on the other side of arguments because the world out there really isn't logical so you will have a hard time coming across people as someone that is not just arrogant or trying to be right all the time because the codes you play around with don't tolerate mistakes and certainly does not have time for sentiments. |
Akanniade:My friend, it is really shocking to read some of the things you put down on these inverter systems. Do you build inverters? What is the basis for some of the blanket statements you have been making? You state boldly that a mass produced transformer is more efficient than a hand built one? What constitutes a transformer? Are you aware that the quality of electric cables produced in Nigeria is higher than all imported ones? Please, stick to what you are sure of. That you have tried some inverters from India and China and found them wanting doesn't give you the right to make categorical statements that are not factual. |
Hello Akanniade, Thanks for your comments. I will only try to correct some misunderstanding now you have stated your intention was not to generalize but to guide prospective inverter users. Akanniade:I do not advocate for very fast charging. Our chargers irrespective of the size of the battery bank are built to recharge from 8 - 10hrs assuming a fully depleted battery bank because we build everything from scratch. You may take a look at any of the articles below to know my position on charging as I have made it clear over and over again that you can kill a battery in either of two ways - slow/inadequate charging or fast/too fast charging. Batteries just like anything that can hold charge must be charged appropriately and there is a formula for that. Inverter backup - Battery charger, the weakest link - http://justalternativepower.com/article_detail.php?id=6 Inverter backup systems - Nightmares or success stories? - http://justalternativepower.com/article_detail.php?id=9 Akanniade:Yes, I talked about my office on Allen and also talked about my house. If I have not used a generator for over 5 years in my office why would I agree with you that a generator is always needed? It all boils down to proper planning and analysis of the inverter backup system. Unless of course an area has a problem with the transformer or that power outage runs into weeks at a time. Akanniade:I understand your position about trying India/China products. I have not tried either and would not try any considering the fact that we build these inverters from scratch and provide one year full warranty. I use an inverter we built in my office so I do not have any reason to try one from any country because as stated earlier even from product catalogs and speifications I can tell a good inverter from one that will have problems along the way. Point of correction, I am not advocating my business here but trying to make sure that Nigerians are equipped with facts on these products so they can avoid all avoidable problems. As you can see I use my personal website on my signature because we cannot even handle the number of orders coming our way even when over 50% of them come from recommendations from people that are using them while the rest come from the web. Akanniade:Trust me my friend, I know what makes up a battery from cathode, anode to electrolytes and the different topologies. My statement or reference to wet cell batteries was to show that inspite of what we know about them some people are indeed using them and considering the cost they will continue to use them. I don't use them and I don't even agree to buy for my clients, I insist on deep cycle batteries if I must get batteries for them. Akanniade:Exactly, that drawback is the point I am making as it clearly shows that the promises and claims are only good enough for the labs, marketing and venture funds the companies behind them are always seeking. Many thanks for your time. Enjoy the rest of the week. |
@KINGUCHE19, If you had taken time to read through the responses then you would have realized that no one ever supported the guy you accused. Every single post asked for either proof or for the guy to respond and many wondered why the guy refused to respond. While I believe you may have been hurt and angry at that time I must also remind you that it is wrong to transfer aggression to others because that was what led you to begin to abuse Nigerian developers just because of what someone did. It is safer, easier and always better to address issues squarely so as not to give room for confusion or distraction that may end up watering down a good case. I wish you well. |
@Abagworo, Onlytruth & rhymz, Thanks for your comments, I really do appreciate them. Like I stated earlier, you can only control what you can control and perception of ourselves is certainly something we cannot control. On the 1966 coup, I am aware that a Yoruba major was among the planners. I am aware that some of the planners come from the then MidWest but were Igbo men. Igbo men and women that come from present day Delta and Rivers who claim not to be Igbos in my opinion are suffering from identity crisis because even the states they claim do not see them as serious stake holders unless when they need their numerical strength like in Rivers state (my opinion again). I am equally aware that the execution of the coup led to the deaths (some very violent) of political and military leaders from the North and the present day South West while the politicians in the present day SE were spared. These are facts and facts are sacred. The reason for pointing out these facts is to stress the point that if the situation was reversed and nothing was done I would gladly raise arms and do all I can to retaliate for the killing of my people by other people who spared their own. This is my personal opinion which I believe I am entitled to. Sometimes being able to put ourselves in other peoples shoes would help to understand the human mind and how it works. However, what happened in 1966 and the war between 1967 and 1970 should not be used to suffer the Igbos. This point was made clear in my earlier posts. I do not leave room for doubts when I make comments so anything that is not clear I implore anyone to ask me to clarify rather than implying something from my comments especially when the premises used may not be the same I relied upon in making my statements. We have our people in the House of Reps, Senate, some are ministers, governors etc. What are these people doing to better the South East? Do you think that the FG would not have a serious rethink if all the Igbos in these offices speak out publicly and even threaten to pull out of the country if their people cannot be treated right? No FG would want to have any part of the country boiling. We may argue that these elected or selected people were not voted by us. Again, elections would be rigged based on the level of resistance that those rigging will face. Thugs have been known to be beaten, chased away, killed in some cases by people who insisted that rigging will not be tolerated in their domain. My point is that as long as the politicians in different positions and offices continue to pretend that everything is ok with the SE there is very little anyone can expect from the FG especially when they think it is in their best interest to slow down the people of the SE. So, I am not supporting the FG's position on SE, I merely stated what may be the reason for what they are doing. I have equally suffered from the same policies and as such I will be foolish to support something or someone that is opposed to my fundamental human right to progress in my country where equity, fair play and justice should be the order of the day. I sincerely wish that these exchanges are done in a different forum where people who have a common heritage and problems would discuss on the way forward to better the SE and not here where a lot of tribal bigots parade day and night. |
Akanniade:Please, make categorical statements on what you are sure of. Generalization don't make sense. Granted, a lot of people have had bad stories to tell and I really don't pity most of them because when you present information that is factual some people ignore the information and go with what sounds the sweetest to the ears and when they have bad experiences they begin to generalize. This is the same problem in the web development industry where people are constantly being ripped off by people who tell you want you want to hear as against what you should hear. Now, to some of the points the poster stated that I disagree with 1. Making use of inverters without at least 10hrs of PHCN is not worth it. --- This is a blanket statement that does not hold water in certain scenarios even though it does in some. If I design a backup for say 3 days or 4 days and I require 8 - 10hrs of charging to recharge the battery bank assuming the battery bank is depleted then it means that the battery bank can do with less than 3 hours a day or 8 hours in the first day and 0 hours in the next 2 days before seeing another 3 - 8 hours on the next day. My point is this - scenarios must be addressed as they come up. There is no "one size fits all" solution when it comes to inverter backup systems. 2. Inverters will not totally eliminate your need for generators. --- Again, just like the 10 hrs issue it depends on so many things. My office is on Allen Avenue and the last time I used a generator in my officer was over 5 years ago and I cannot work in the office unless there is electricity because I am a software developer and must use the pc for me to be able to work. So, my being able to work without a generator but with an inverter backup I setup is based on doing the right thing and correct analysis of the problem. 3. If you must buy an inverter, buy an american spec. China / India products are mostly junk. Tripplitte is a good american brand. --- I disagree with you on this again for the following reasons a) I have installed an imported inverter for a client just once in my about 6 years of building inverters locally and after that experience I refused to do so for anyone unless the person will sign that he will sort out any warranty issues with the original inverter manufacturer as I can only offer warranty for what I build as I know what is inside. b) Majority of the problems come from improper charging algorithms because inverter technology itself (the changing of DC to AC) is a mature technology. We have had to open up imported inverters belonging to clients (not originally supplied by us), disconnected the in built charger, built our own charger and integrated it into the system and we have some of them working for over 3 years now. c) The charging problem comes from basic design assumptions made in the respective countries you referenced and are usually mass produced based on common parameters that may not hold water down here in Nigeria. 4. Never use wetcell batteries, they die out within 3 months. Deep cycle batteries are the best but expensive, about N250 per AH --- I agree that deep cycle batteries are well suited for inverter backup but I have heard from people using inverters with wet cell batteries that have worked for well over 1 year. The earliest inverter systems we built used wet cell batteries and most of them started having problems with the batteries from around 10 months and the problems were usually with the capacity to hold charge which directly affects the backup time. 10. The good news is that there is rapid development in solar cell technologies. Thin film solar panel promises to cut cost to as low as 90cents/W --- I have followed the thin film solar panel trend and believe me most of the information are based on lab results that are usually unverified as quite a number of companies involved in this type of solar panel tend to treat every single information as intellectual property so we are forced to read and perhaps agree with what their engineers say which for all intent and purposes may be wrong. The good thing about technology is that you don't hide it, if the progress being claimed is real then most of them should by coming out of production lines as we write these things here. So, while I agree with some of the points you put down I disagree with the points I have reproduced and addressed in my post especially when statements that are not factual are used to discuss the alternative energy industry because I am involved and know the facts of the matter. This is why I take out time to write articles to educate the end users to know more than enough to make good buying decisions when it comes to backup systems. I have turned down many partnership proposals from inverter manufacturers in the countries you mentioned based on the fact that even their product catalogs have more than enough information to prove to them why their inverters will not perform well here in Nigeria. If you visit www.justalternativepower.com (where I am the Chief technology Officer) you will see the difference in pricing on our inverters to the extent that we sell a 5kva 48vdc manual inverter for N220,000.00 and the automatic version for N260,000.00 even when imported 5kva inverters go for as low as N100,000.00 these days. So, why would our locally built inverters be far more expensive than the imported counterparts when we can easily reduce the price to appear competitive and still make more money in the process? The reason is simple - We are not interested in the competition, we are only interested in building inverters that work with 1 year enforceable warranties where repairs or outright replacements are done at no cost whatsoever to the client. However, the only problem we have is that our building process is slow and that we focus on modified sine wave inverters so you cannot use any sensitive medical equipment or laser based printers or copiers with our inverters. Sorry for the long post but I believe I do not have any option than to correct misconceptions and wrong information as regards an industry I am doing my best to make right in spite of all the problems we have right now. I presently do not use a generator even in my house even though I have one as I have been able to practice what I preach as regards energy efficiency which is the surest way to get a cost effective backup solution. Any typographical errors are regretted and hopefully I will correct them when I have time to go through what I have put down on this subject. |
KINGUCHE19:What's this? I was hoping that after this conference, i ll be able to link up young developers to group of international experts who have new technologies to offer and intended to work on some global projects.I really don't like talking negativity but with some of the comments from this guy I think one may just have a rethink. What new technologies? You don't hide technologies in cupboards. Anyone who is interested in keeping in touch with current trends in any technology would do so without issues. Now to the accusation proper quadrillio (m)While this guy has refused to comment or refute the damaging accusations against him it is shocking to know that he indeed modified his post while these exchanges where going on. Name: quadrillioThis is really sad and very unfortunate. |
princekevo:Better believe it ooo. For starters, I am a complete Igbo man to the core and I have suffered from injustices that have been handed to Igbos by the FG especially when it comes to quota system. If I have the opportunity to choose my tribe if asked to return to this world a million times I will choose Igbo every single time. In fact, I am arrogantly proud of being an Igboman. If you had paid attention to the portion of my post you reproduced you would have seen that the keyword in that sentence remains "MAY" because such possibility is very high and if in reality it is the main reason any objective person would agree that while those of us who are Igbos who were not part of what happened in 1966 should not be made to suffer for what we did not contribute to. However, while holding the position above as an Igboman you must not forget the fact that it is up to the other person or group of people to understand life the way you do. Put differently, the Igbos must be able to demonstrate that things need to change and in doing this we must understand that organisations like MASSOB stand for what every non Igbo person would use against the Igbos as regards trust. MASSOB keeps talking about Biafra even when what represented Biafra then in 1967-1970 has now become an area with South East on one side and other ethnic nationalities on the other side who have not agreed to become the same Biafra that MASSOB is talking about. Perception is one thing we don't have control over. So, it is possible for Mr A to think that he is a good man even when everyone around him thinks or believes that he is just an evil man. If we must tackle the injustices towards the Igbos then we must be bold enough to tell most of these politicians, contractors and opportunists that they have done enough damage with their questionable positions on serious issues concerning the Igbos. They cannot continue to represent us when we have intelligent Igbo people scattered all over the world who can argue, complain and if need be fight for what they believe in. Now, I sincerely do not want for us to fight over issues concerning the Igbos on a public forum like this one (considering the fact that we may be related by blood or heritage assuming you are Igbo) but I believe I reserve the right to air my opinion especially when what seems to be the position of majority of the so called Igbo leaders and politicians do not marry with my own views based on principles, unquestionable integrity and honesty. A simple question to you If for example you wake up tomorrow to see the top politicians in Igbo land and the North assassinated by Yoruba military officers in the name of fighting corruption and no Yoruba politician was killed what would be your honest take on this? The killing of innocent Igbos in the North was wrong just as the assassination of the leaders of the North and South West by military officers majority of them Igbo men was wrong. If all the top politicians from all the regions and tribes were killed then no one will have any reason to suspect any tribe or region. Somehow, I believe that Nigeria as a nation will make monumental progress if we are able to find a place in our hearts to tell ourselves the blunt truth, make amends and then take advantage of the enormous human and natural resources God has given to this country to turn this country into one that will be the envy of the rest of the world. |
@freezy, The unsecured loans that are also non performing belong to people not buildings. These loans are criminally termed bad loans by the banks even when they knew from day 1 that such loans may never be repaid. The N400B that was injected did not come from thin air, someone or some projects that would have been carried out will pay for that money somehow. If however, you believe these guys did not squander peoples money then I guess we all need to setup banks and give ourselves loans, live large and wait for CBN to come and inject fresh funds to make up for what we may have wasted or stolen. Meanwhile, I agree with you on the fuel subsidy thing completely. |
Pennywise:I cannot support any insults targeted at this woman. I needed to clarify that employing people while engaging in financial recklessness on other peoples money is not right. Good enough Jakumo has made amends for his comments. freezy:No one lost money? So money just appear in banks without people owning them? SLS did more evil simply because you disagree with what he did even when majority of Nigerians (based on media reports from the man on the street to newspapers and analysts) are in agreement? You may have a good knowledge of Zenith bank's debt portfolio just as I am sure some people had good knowledge of the debt portfolios of the 5 banks before the expose. Billions of naira given out as loans without collaterals and you think anyone can justify the financial crimes these CEOs carried out? |
freezy:I am sure my post was based on your comment on Oceanic bank employing more than 20,000 people. I have not written anything down to support any insults on the woman. You may read my post again to be certain. |
KINGUCHE19:For what? For your inability to prove anything? If the guy that developed that aratext.com is a Nigerian and you made the statement above then I expect him to call you to order or you look for a foreigner to work on the project for you. What is wrong with you? Why abuse Nigerian developers simply because you think you have an issue with someone? As a Nigerian developer I will boldly state that it is clients like you that I walk out of my office from time to time. Stick to the issues and stop making nonsense of your case (assuming you have any). KINGUCHE19:Talking about intellectual property rights does not give you the right to insult web developers here. Get this straight. Unfortunately, you expect people to take sides without any proof or evidence from anyone, from what I know no responsible person would do that. |
freezy:Robbing Peter to pay Paul is 100% wrong. Oceanic may have employed more than 20,000 people but are the salaries coming from funds that are free from the type of criminal recklessness we are hearing and reading about everyday since this issue came to the fore? If you cannot run a genuine business then don't start one otherwise armed robbers and kidnappers can also claim that they better the lives of people around them from immediate relations to friends and girl friends. |
KINGUCHE19:Now, that was unnecessary. For the avoidance of doubt if you expected anyone to believe what you stated 100% then you must be kidding considering the fact that you may be lying. No proof, no evidence, just comments from a newly registered username that could be assumed by anyone in the world just like a free yahoo account. I agree that it is worrisome that the allegations you were have not been responded to by the person but to use that as an excuse to insult the intelligence of users of this board will only bring ridicule to you because when it comes to design and programming I can tell you very bluntly that what you have at aratext.com can be replicated in full in less than 30 minutes (including domain name registration, web hosting setup, movement of files to the server and database implementation). Stick to the issues raised and stop biting more than you can chew. By the way, yawatide may not agree with you but when it comes to web development I think she can and will dust whatever you have on that aratext.com website. Enjoy the week and learn to address issues squarely. Unnecessary generalizations will come with consequences you may never have bargained for. |
No wahala. As long as you are the one offering to do a project for free there is no problem. |
pussyboy:1. You are not sure what you want to do. First, understand what you want before asking for advice. You cannot enroll into NIIT for a programming course and intend to study ORACLE. 2. Boost your CV to keep you on top of the IT world? IT is too vast and that makes what you hope for almost impossible to achieve 3. Fetch some cool cash. While it is good to make money from what you do but when it comes to programming if making money is your priority then you may abandon it along the line because it takes time to understand programming very well and even longer time to earn the trust and respect of companies that will pay you plenty money for programming solutions. But, first things first, take your time and learn what these technologies mean and what they can really do and whether you are willing to go into programming. Good luck. |
quadrillio:Now, where is quadrillio in view of the serious allegations against him? Issues like these if left unresolved are enough to mess up this board. |
I have long decided to watch cartoon or action movie than develop a website for anyone for free because no matter what you do the person will not be satisfied until you develop another yahoo for the person and when you don't agree to further demands you two may end up quarreling and you will end up regretting ever wasting your time on the project. So, my style is to bill for everything and treat it as business. At my own discretion I can charge lower for something but to do so for free, lai lai. Unless of course, you are the one offering to offer a free service like an NGO or donor website. It is cheaper and easier to avoid problems than to solve problems. |
bilymuse:OBJ is out of power so if Joe is still blaming OBJ for what the Ubas are doing to and in Anambra state then I believe that this is a case of misplaced priority. Can an outsider destroy your home without the connivance of an insider? May be yes but more likely no. We must do away with sentiments when analyzing problems lest we end up looking for solutions to problems that do not even exist to begin with. |
While I agree that the FG had pursued (and still pursuing) a deliberate plan to slow down the SE in terms of infrastructural development and even frustrating private sector led projects I don't agree that kidnapping can be excused for a split second. A crime is a crime no matter what. Can the FG achieve its aims in the SE without the collaboration of Igbo people who masquerade as politicians and contractors who will willingly pocket what is meant for the people, go into agreements with the powers that be for their own selfish ends? So, the FG may want to slow the SE but the only reason why they have been succeeding is that we have poisonous Igbo politicians and contractors that are implementing and supporting these policies and in my opinion they are the greatest enemies in Igbo land. Until we are bold enough to accept this blunt truth we will be going round and round in cycles playing the blame game while conferring on these politicians and contractors one title after another. The FG may have a good reason for their fears about Igbo progress and domination based on what happened in 1966 (and in reality any tribe or group of tribes would react the same way) but I have been searching for a good reason to justify what Igbo men are doing to Igboland and thus far I have not found any. |
Unless the requirements are generic I will advice you develop the application from scratch for you to have complete flexibility and control as against using any CMS. It is a lot simpler than you may think. |
You guys should stop educating Tudor, he is the most unintelligent and confused contributor on this forum. Seems his staying outside Nigeria is tied to a total support for any white supremacy theory no matter how warped such a theory is. Unfortunately, he thinks he makes sense when you puts down trash all in the name of posting responses on issues he doesn't know much about. |
Ibime:Behind the demonstration or this post? Abeg, clarify. |
smogville:He sincerely thanked Islar M Tyler for defending him and for those that were against his piece he dismissed as frustrated, not in tune with modern trend and incapable of intellectual discourse. Wonderful! Abeg, for those who know, wetin be the modern trend again? |
I hope the death penalty is still being implemented to the fullest. Again this is a problem with the way the banks work, why give people who can neither read nor write cheque books in the first place? There should be workable alternatives. |
otokx:Na me been dey drive when I see the headline so couldn't stop. Sorry for the confusion. |
sjeezy8:I hope you now realize that anyone can accuse of you being biased just as you accused others. What goes around comes around. Anyone that abuses a people based on the actions or inactions of one person or a few people is guilty of tribalism, period. |
Of course, when some people cannot handle logic and common sense they begin to make ridiculous claims and begin to post images all over the place. You are a lousy tout and nothing more. Before you know it this clown will claim he designed the White House mumu. |
