Christianity Etc › Should Religion Evolve With The Times? by Afam4eva(op): 12:14pm On Jun 02, 2017 |
I was watching a program "Your View" on TVC this morning and they invited an islamic scholar to come and talk about the importance and etiquette of Ramadan. So along the line, an Islamic song was played and it was very different from the typical islamic songs. The musician actually used the beats of Kiss Daniels' song "WOJU" and then used islamic lyrics. The presenters who were mostly Christians were dancing at the song but one particular presenter who was a muslim felt the song was inappropriate because according to her, it doesn't have the ISlamic essence. I really don't know what that means. Now her fellow hosts challenged her that the reason why youths are converting from Islam to Christianity is because they find Christianity much more funky and in tune with the times.
We can all agree that there are more Muslims converting to Christianity than vice versa especially in Nigeria. And it's not necessarily because they think Christianity is the way but because they think it's more liberal and open than Islam. For instance, i want to believe Christ Embassy has more percentage of youths than any church in NIgeria and this is because they allow youths to express themselves to the extent that it become borderline weird the kind of things they do in the church.
Now to my question, should Religion evolve to accommodate modern idiosyncrasies? Do mosques or churches need to be more yuppy to attract youths? Is religion a brand that needs to appeal to every strata of the society? What do you think.

cococandy: This is such a belittling statement and I'm disappointed in him and those who support him. Who tells men to respect their wives in order not to get beaten. I swear the rampant sexism most Nigerian men are raised with, has all but robbed them of their common sense. Do you know how many victims of domestic violence walk on egg shells in order not to set the man off yet they still get beaten and sometimes murdered? Do you how many victims dare not even look in the eyes of the men they married so that they don't appear disrespectful yet their abusers find reason in the way they walk, sit or eat to beat them up?
All of you dummies should fvck out of here with your victim blaming retardedd bullshyt posts.
If you haven't been a victim of oppression don't try to mansplain to those who are going through it what to do to avoid it. You guys often think you know best. It's a very disgusting attitude. Stop being emotional about this issue. Nobody is saying that it's right for a man to beat his wife and the actor is not saying that either. The point is that it's the woman who gets the physical injury at the end of the day and as such for her to prevent it, she should respect her husband even when there's no need for it. Some men are crazy. Some would even beat a woman for no just reason. If you have a solution, bring it on. |

Chai. I just tire for this people. They want to hold the country to ransom because of Ramadan. If you'd term them tribalists..then you can call meone as well but I'd marry from any other tribe other than igbo We're saying the same thing. You're all tribalist in your family no matter how you try to sugar coat it. And far as marrying an Igbo girl is concerned, i don't think you'r up to the task. NevetsIbot: nope. They've just seen so much of the bad side of many igbo girls.. Their rudeness, greed and all. Also, two of my uncles married igbo ladies. Should I say the first one had turned her husbands head away from home. Second wife poked mum in the eye three days after the wedding till now.
I had the unpleasant priviledge to see two display for me last month. Very contumacious set of women. They mostly show no iota of contrite at all.
I too wouldnt try to marry an ibo lady. I think based on what you just described they're tribalists. That's the definition of tribalism. Every tribalist always have one cogent reason in their mind why they're not fond of a particular group. |

igwebuike01: Sullivan chased Chimaroke out of PDP, you can see that his return is now that Sullivan is out of PDP. We hope he rebuild his Ebeano political movement which Sullivan collapsed and make it strong like the Kwankwasiyya movement in Kano. I believe he will work better with Ugwuanyi because they are both core politicians unlike sullivan Does this say something about we Igbos though. In Enugu, Jim Nwobody helped make Chimaroake governor after which Chima abandoned him. Cgimaroake helped make Sullivan, sullivan abandoned him and he left the part. Sullivan helped Ugwuanyi and the same thing happened. Sullivan is now in APC. In Anambra, Peter left APGA, a party that he used in installing Obiano. In Abia, Orji Uzor Kalu made Theodoore Orji governor and was abandoned. The list is endless...So, i'm not sure we can have anything similar to the Kwankwasiyya movement in Kano. |

AworiLagosian: The second video from DNAland (Another company) said he was 95% Nigerian from the "Lower Niger Valley"
He came up as Yoruba1 and Esan2 which are roughly respective cognates of his actual ethnic groups (Itsekiri1 and Urhobo2) from Delta. Yes, i saw that. DNAland is more precise with the ethnic group as opposed to AncestralDNA which focuses n countries and regions. For instance, what do they mean by Benin/Togo? |
Culture › Re: Has Any Nigerian Done The Ancestral DNA? by Afam4eva(op): 7:00pm On May 30, 2017 |
I saw youtube comments from some Nigerians that did theirs and the test result was always almost 100% Nigeria. Some had 95% Nigerian and 5% Benin/Togo which is understandable due to migrations. Most groups in Nigeria will have a mix of something.
@Aworilagosian I think the problem with that man's first test is not that it's not correct but the way AncestralDNA did their classification. |
