Chanchit:I never made fuss about any award. You can point me to where i mentioned the Caine award specifically. Like i said, i noticed a trend with my pseudo objective eye and i said it the way i see it. But like you said, maybe i'm just seeing what i want to see. |
kayzat:I mentioned her religions because i wanted to understand why a muslim Yoruba person would be celebrating easter. Do some of you read at all? |
ba7man:Do you know Chinedu Omeruo? ![]() |
Chanchit:I'm not saying this is not true. Before i say something, i most have noticed a trend. I dare say that majority of notable young Nigerian writers are Igbo. That's not to take anything from non-Igbo writers who are also doing great things. |
madapcmod:I didn't say engineering. I said Mathematics as a subject specifically. The best mathematicians in my class in secondary school were Yorubas. |
TVTKOKO:I was actually going to say this in the topic about a Yoruba guy winning a mathematics award. Yorubas have a thing with maths especially the muslim ones. |
InyinyaAgbaOku:Yes, we also have/had loads of old writers but other Nigerian groups were still somewhat represented. These days you can't have 5 young writers without 3 of them being Igbos. |
That's how i saw my muslim neigbour setting up canopy and some caterers cooking assorted things. She's a muslim but any reason to throw a party is welcome. Unfortunately, i'm not a party person, else i would have joined the mogbo mo ya gang. Anyways, that's one culture that i wished Igbos had a bit of. |
bykebyke:Is he taking shots at the EPL? ![]() |
WOW. This is the highest level. Ivy league thingz. Congrats Young man. |
PDPGuy:Lol I think i know who you are. |
Congrats to them all. Can someone help in explaining why most young writers in Nigeria are Igbo. This is something i've noticed for a while now. Is there any concerted effort by the governors in the south-east that explains it or Igbos are just fond of the literary world. |
I pity all these small African countries such as Liberia and Sierra Leone. They must be really backward to come and be understudying our backwardness. |
PDPGuy:Are you a Chelsea fan? |
PDPGuy:Which part of Cali are you? That beach seems familiar. Santa Monica? San Diego? |
Bonjoro:I hope you know anybody can fake wedding pictures. What they recognize is an official document that proves that both of you are married because in the eyes of the law you're not married. |
trytillmake:I think we've gone beyond the era of ideas doing the magic. The problem these days is mostly funding and putting the proper structure in place. There are a lot of smart people who can whip up ideas anyhow, so ideas are really not it these days. |
Everest1989:Why not? As long as you don't have anything to hide. |
I wonder if i'm the only person that has noticed this trend about young Nigerians in the diaspora coming to take over Nigerian media. Hardly can you turn on to any New Nigerian TV station or watch any new Nigerian movies that you don't get to see American and British accents all over the place. It's getting to a point where if you don't sound American or British, you won't get employment in radio and TV stations. Even in Nollywood, there are loads of returnees who don't really know how to act. All they just gotta do is talk and they have roles. It's not like i'm really against this per se. But it's just that these people are been giving priority over Nigerians in Nigeria. I mean, Nigerian accent does not cut it anymore. So, if you've never left Nigeria in your life you might as well stay away from TV or radio. What do you guys think about this latest development. Pls, Mynd44, you can help us take this to the frontpage for more contributions, |
Hmm, great topic... Like someone said, since we're in Nigeria, issues like electricity should no longer hinder us because if you intend to create a software, you should have in mind that there won't be power always, so you have to provide an alternative source of power. I think one of the reasons why software/apps/etc fail is that they're just not good enough and that's because of funding issues and lack of due diligence and proper research. |
Is that not Jim Iyke serving kolanuts? |
Anonymous platforms will definitely score higher. It's unfortunate that almost anything you do on facebook will be seen by people that know you, so people are very careful in using facebook to spread hate. |
kimbra:Even mothers can't even say with all certainty that they know their son let alone one woman that he met less than a year ago. |
Controversial much... I believe every man is a POTENTIAL woman beater. Those men that pride themselves in the fact that they don't beat women have not had the opportunity presented to them. The fact that we're human beings means that we can do things that we're not known for based on our upbringing and moral code. We try as much as possible to abide by these rules but it all depends on how much we can allow ourselves to be pushed. 1. HEAVY WEIGHT CHAMPIONS There are men that are just horrible, they can slap their wives for asking the wrong questions. These men are detectable right from the dating stage and most women that agree to marry them a lot of times are just as horrible in their own way. These men have no apologies for beating their wives. It's their calling and they have accepted it. They are the kind of men that actually wear bowing gloves to use their wives as punching bags just to be fit. Sometimes they apply karate skills as well as some skills ripped off WWE. They're the legends as far as wife beating is concerned and when sh1t goes down, the neigbours will definitely know something is happening. You hear shouts from the neigbours such as "Papa Ejima, e don do", "No Kill mama Nkechi" and so on. THE OCCASIONAL GYMNASTS Now, there are other men that have a temper. These ones are usually okay most of the time but they spark when their wives get on their nerves and they first issue warnings such as "Don't try it again". My sister, you better don't try it again because if you do, they will light you with a thunderous slap and your response will be "You slapped me?" with your hand on your cheek. These kind of men always regret their actions and will come back and beg you but that doesn't mean the occasional jerry-mandering of your cheek will stop. These kind f men have a potential of being like the first man i mentioned. Something drastic such as losing their job needs to happen to them before they go all out to stamp their authority physically. THE GOOD MAN Now, the third kind of men are actually feminists or atleast they profess t be feminist and they're the few men that you see defending women in issues that affect them. A lot of times, they have good upbringings and sometimes they're lucky to have married GOOD wives. But for those who marry the wrong wives, their wives assist them to get to the point where they will forget everything that they have been thought and their morals are thrown out of the window for the better of their boxing careers. These are actually good men whose sanity have been destroyed by their wives and they've been reduced to a level where they become zombies, so their actions are no longer theirs. As much as these ones have a good oral foundation, they can actually get to the level where they become just as bad as the other two. My point is that you don't know what you can do until you have been pushed to the wall. So, it's not just okay to say, i can't beat my wife or i can't beat women. Sometimes when pushed to the wall and there's nowhere else to go, the only thing you can do is to push back. Let's try as much as possible to respect each other, both husbands and wives. Don't push anyone's buttons to the extent that they go haywire. No form of domestic violence is okay, be it emotional or physical. |
kimbra:I tell you, that's the most annoying part of her tirade. |
raker300:If they're considering it, then they're really stupid and they must be one of the SS/SE peeps on nairaland. |
raker300:Tell that to the thousands of monikers on Nairaland who keep disgracing themselves daily on Nairaland. |
The hate is real bro.... Ijaws will definitely fall at the bottom of the groups in Nigeria that i regard highly. This is why i wrote the article about Igbos leaving these minorities with their wahala as there are bigger fishes to fry but these moronic IPOB scalawags will keep going about sitting comdy in their 2 by 2 shops at Onitsha main market bandying the idea of a SS/SE alliance. Sometimes, i wonder if it's a cause or a deliberate attempt to display a form of unique idiocy, |
Bagehot:So, how's what you're saying different from what said? |
[quote author=omiaruk post=56748407]Me I think it's benue, followed by kogi and kwara. Argue with your boxers[/quoteOts between Kogi and Benue. Burning don't think useless is the right word. |
InyinyaAgbaOku:My point is that the number of Igbos wo want to leave Nigeria may just be the percentage of Scottish people who want to break away from the United Kingdom which is barely 50%. If it was anywhere over 90%, trust me, the government will feel the heat more than they are feeling with IPOB.I also think most pro Biafran people live in the east. |
lowkey0147:If 95% of Igbos wanted Biafra, don't you think it would have happened or atleast come close to happening. |
