Celebrities › BBNaija: My Take On What Happened Between Tboss & Kemen And The Rabble-Rousers by Afam4eva(op): 4:58pm On Apr 17, 2017 |
I didn't really watch the Big Brother Naija 2017 but i followed most of the happening on Nairaland all over the internet. I even got to watch some highlights of the show and i saw the video where Kemen was accused of molesting TBoss.
Let me say it here that as much as the Nigerian in me feels some pity for kemen for the way he was disquaified and eventually been taunted wherever he goes, i think it's brazen idiocy to take lightly the issue of rape. If this show was done in a developed country. kemen would by now be vising the law court on a regular basis to know how many years he would spend in jail.
It's funny that some characters came out in defense of Kemen, calling TBoss all sorts of name. These people have been fvcked up by the Nigerian system, so they can't tell right from wrong. To them, if a girl comes to your house to visit, you must do her and if she refuses, you do it by force. These cretins are the worst of the worst.
Now, the idiots that i described above me aren't really my problem. My problem is when celebrities whether in the name of comedy or any form of entertainment down play what TBoss went through. I cringed when i watched AY and Helen paul tow the line of senselessness but stupidly taunting TBoss at the "Warri Again" show. As if that was not enough, AY brought the stupidity to the "AY live" that held yesterday. I cringed whenever the camera focused on TBoss while they were taunting her. Comedians took turns in humiliating her because they had nothing else to offer.
Whether you like TBoss or not, i don't think any sane human being should support the character assasination that she has suffered in the hands of these so called celebrities and quasi nonentities. I wonder why she keeps showing up in those shows anyways.
My 2cents.

AsiwajuNdigbo: Nwannem, Lets tell ourselves truth. Lagos was not built as pan Nigerian. Lagos was built as Yoruba city. Through the humanity of Yoruba people they opened their hearts to everybody and accepted all and sundry.
We should thank people like Macauley, Oba Adeniji Adele, Mobolaji Johnson, Adeniran Ogunsanya, Awolowo. Guy let me tell you, if Hausa owned Lagos and we and Yoruba were Northerners I promise you Lagos will be exclusive and hell for non Hausa to live in. We should not dismiss the Yoruba big heart when talking of Lagos. You can say this to make yourself happy but you don't even believe what you wrote up there. Cheers. |

mabelly: I will like to differ to the above quoted.
Any sensible governor or government with limited fund and resources would think out a plan to get involved in a more commercially viable venture that has economic of scale and the easiest to go into would be agriculture.
Instead of running from market to Palm wine joint. Fayose should get involved with creating wealth with the little he has instead of spending all on feeding and waiting for monthly stipend from Abuja.
Let ekiti be known for a particular commodity or production and see how the fortune of the state would change for the better.
I am sure if Fayose was a hustling young bachelor whose father gives monthly allowance our advise to him would be for him to try and hustle hard investment and make money for himself so that he would be independent. Isn't it? Like i said, i'm not holding brief for Fayose. But i don't see how he's different from atleast 30 governors in Nigeria who just want to maintain the status quo of been spoon fed by the center. Not as if the center isn't supporting that ideology anyways else it would have released more powers to the constituent units. The only reason why Fayose is a topic of discussion is because he's always in the news for the wrongest of reasons. |

aribisala0: Lagos was not built as a Pan anything city Lagos is a state and is quite different from Lagos City. They are completely different entities. Epe is a rural Ijebu community that is based on Fishing. There is nothing PanNigeria about Epe.It has been neglected for a long time .Those who are indigenous to Lagos State know the truth. There are still places that are not connected to the grid without power which we hope to see change soon. But this Lagos is city nonsense must stop. Epe is very rural and very Ijebu I understand the plight of places like Epe and to some extent Ikorodu and even the badagry area. But you must agree that most parts of Lagos, atleast 80% have become a conurbation of some sort. I also understand the difference between lagos city and Lagos state as far as the former capital is concerned but even places that were not initially part of Lagos island were catalyzed by it. |

naijababe: Na wa o. Do you realise that infrastructural needs is correlated to population. If Ambode was governor in Ekiti he won't need to construct a bridge of this size. I dunno why complimenting a good leader dey hard some people. Small time now, they will mention that thief Akpabio that has robbed AK back to medieval times I really don't understand what you're on about. I think everybody has agreed that Ambode is visionary. What i'm simply saying is that being visionary is not the entire story. Lagos has a lot of money which has enables it carry out monumental projects. |

deomello: Not having money is not the end of anything or should be an excuse for not making credible changes or even coming up with creative ways for money generation empowerment and pleasant atmosphere for businesses and jobs to flourish.
Lagos was poor at one point, generating less than N500 million per month under Tinubu, but the leaders found creative means for revenue generation and the tool he used "Alpha Beta" was lampooned as a vehicle for corruption is being used by nearly all the states in Nigeria even the federal level is copying Lagos state's revenue generating model.
If you are going to make excuse for the clueless and incompetent governor in Ekiti, at least list the sound and credible governing principles and economic policies he's enacted to better Ekiti state in any way.
When was the last time Fayose staged economic forum for investors access economic opportunities in his or what the state possesses in form of resources and productive manpower? When was the last time he introduced creative tax collection system to up the state's revenue.?
As mush as many condemn Osun state, Osun is still the runner-up after Lagos when it comes to infrastructure and commissioned projects in Nigeria, but Osun doesn't have half of the revenue they have in Lagos state, but they have a very determined and focussed leader.
Ekiti is poor economically, but they are poorer and worse off because of bad leadership, it's now a state synonymous with poor and hungry poeople linning on the side if the road everyday for cups of rice and N200 stipends. This would have made sense if states were not almost dependent on the federal government. if that was the case, most people who are there to steal will run away because they will not be getting monthly stipends from the federation account as is the case currently. The case of lagos is a totally different one and you can agree with me. Lagos was built as a pan Nigerian city and so, it represents Nigeria economically. With it's almost 20 million population, multi national companies, small and medium size enterprises, there's no way any state can even think of comparing itself to lagos as far as IGR is concerned. The fact that lagos was earning just 500 million i because the machinery was not in place to generate incoome as it is now. As for Fayose, i'm not making a case for him. He's your typical Nigerian governor who is average at best. But we seem to be judging him sing the Lagos and Akwa Ibom yardstick which is not fair. With the mothly allocation that states like Ekiti get monthly, the best they can do is to use it for overhead and other minor to average projects. You're definitely not going to be seeing the kind of projects you see in Lagos and Akwa Ibom there. It's just not going to happen. Maybe if Ekiti had a huge source of income. Now, saying that osun is a runner up to lagos shows that you're either from osun or an APC fan or both. Osun has more money than Ekiti but doesn't have much to show for it just like 90% of the states in the country. If Aregbesola is a determined and focused leader accoring to you the it means the meanings of these words have changed. |
Politics › Re: Fly Over And Road Construction In Epe, Lagos Ongoing (Photos) by Afam4eva(m): 7:11pm On Apr 16, 2017 |
deomello: He'll make a huge difference because I'm 100% sure he won't be lining people up on the side of the road distributing 2 cups of rice and N200 or spending his days and nights running from market to market cutting kponmo and hanging out with market woman or obsessed wiht issues outside his state like the FG and the president instead of governing and finding credible solutions for the issues affecting his people.
Yes, money advantage is good, but money without good and credible leadership with vision means nothing because some states in Nigeria pased more budgets than Lagos state and even own more than Lagos state, but they have nothing to show for it because of bad leadership. He may make a difference but i assure you it won't be huge because it's very difficult to have ideas and not have money to execute them. Those bridges that he builds in Lagos cost a lot of money and one bridge can finish Ekiti's allocation for one year (exageration), so it will be had for him to build anything of note. I'll prefer my state too have money and average leadership than have above average leadership and lack funds. |
Politics › Re: Fly Over And Road Construction In Epe, Lagos Ongoing (Photos) by Afam4eva(m): 6:54pm On Apr 16, 2017 |
deomello: IGR can not replace good leadership with vision and sense of duty because you can have good IGR and still remain clueless, incompetent and not know what to do with your IGR.
Even with Lagos huge IGR, Akwa Ibom without huge IGR collected more money in form of allocation and derivations that sum up more than the budgets in Lagos state, but Lagos still commissioned more projects than Akwa Ibom.
Delta owe more money than Lagos state but still have nothing to show for it while Lagos has more than enough to show for their debt.
Good leadership with vision is better than huge IGR with bad and incompetent leadership. It's actually a balance of both. Take Ambode to Ekiti and see if he will make any difference. That's why i think the money that lagos has both through monthly allocation and IGR is soo much that they can embark on projects that other states won't dare. |

Akshow: We use to think Fashola was working till God bless Lagos with Ambode. He's sure gonna out work Fashola. That's why you should reealize that it's really not about who's at the helm. Though you need someone that knows his onions. The reason why the only direction Lagos can go is up is simply because they have the resources in abundance. Other states won't dare. |

Khd95: If only other states could aspire to compete with lagos They can't because they don't have the money. The only states that can replicate what Lagos is doing to some extent are Akwa Ibom, Delta and Rivers state. Only Akwa Ibom has tried in that regard. The rest are a waste. |

HITdemUP: Equation balanced. .YORUBA + IGBO = produced this beautiful damsel. For those clamouring for a break up , this is a further proof that Igbos breaking away from Nigeria is not negotiable. What bound us together is far greater than what separated us... The Igbos should be patient.. I strongly notion this believe that an IGBO man will eventually rule this great Nation one day. I CALL FOR CALM and PATIENT... 1<3 Nothing irks me more than coments such as this. Oga, it's nothing new for Igbos and Yorubas to marry and deliver inter tribal offspring. For you to link this to why you think the unity of the country is non negotiable givies you away as a slowpoke (no offence). Aren't there Nigerian getting married to Ghanians, jamaicans etc? Maybe we should merge those countries too. WTF. |
