RuuDie: messi was probably with more "deadweight" than maradona was...maybe, but the point is moot since messi did not win the cup. if ever a man won a world cup single-handed it was maradona in 1986. if u can't say that about maradona then u cant say that about anyone. |
RuuDie: Hold on... Maradona and 11 zombies!?passarella did not play in 86.....he was in the squad but didn't factor in the games. pumpido was an ok goal keeper. all the other players u mentioned were decent players, not zombies but not exactly world class either |
obviously not. LOL |
messi one for all the marbles. can he? |
This German offside trap is ragged.....one day one day okete go escape |
haaa dadehmola!!! dyariz God o! this one na eje loju omo odaran |
Dadehmola: So According to your warped logic, when a team is labelled shyte, it means there aren't good players in it, right? If that's how you reason, there's definitely no need to engage you in any debate that would be intellectually demanding!Man down! Man down!! |
MrTA: Please dont make him fat too.nnkan mbe, eri bi orun anderson se we? |
elampiro: I think he has potentials for the number 10. He appears not to have clicked for him. In some of the friendly match, he looked more like the natural number 10 than others. The guy has some flair but it appears he lacks positional discipline and lacks end product i.e he is the classical "forming activity " player |
Yes first match it seems keshi played azeez as the no10.. .. now that did not make sense at all, it wasnt surprising that d young man flopped |
Well in fairness Mikel surely didnt play in the hole or no 10. He was deep in midfield with onazi. We used babatunde and even osaze at times as our 10. However i dont understand the heat behind the nff argument. Seems nihilist came packing to hit starboard up |
this is real flogging!!! |
I believe Mancini tried 3-5-2 or so. 3-4-3 or even 3-5-2 are both risky especially when used with players who didnt grow up playing them. It takes a while to understand the nuances of the systems unlike the 4-4-2, 4-3-3 which are easier to get. Having said that its left to Van Gaal to decide what system he wants to put in place and its left to the board to get him the players he needs to execute the system. All we want is good football and of course titles. P.S I said some time back that the only explanation for going after Vermalaen is LvG planning to play 3 defenders |
StarBoard: I called him smart so as not to get carried away by the moment.I was always in support of LvG intead of e.g Klopp coming to United . I hope and believe he will succeed HOWEVER social skills and man management are more important in a club side with the long season than in a national side where you have the players for only short periods. He has 2 big things in his favour HE KNOWS FOOTBALL and HE HAS THE COURAGE OF HIS CONVICTIONS. |
Van Gaal is just more than just smart....he is a deep football thinker and practically a genius. His major problem is his lack of social skills. When his players don't believe/love him his methods are likely to fragment not just the locker room but the whole club. |
LOL. |
BinghiNya: since he replied what do γφυ wanna doI won't do anything until you post your graduation pic again ![]() |
dopeJemi: what did rooney do for england? No need to reply him. I don't know why everything has to be reduced to a Rooney v Van Persie debate |
chrisley024: That's the coach I'm talking about.yes. tactical dexterity meets versatile players meets good luck. |
sneijder strikes! is he a nairalander? ![]() |
chrisley024: He has been subbedyeah i made that comment a few minutes before he was subbed. maybe the heat was getting to him, his movement especially off the ball was not as good as usual |
chrisley024: I don't even like that 3 CBs, it hands your opponent the ball possession. Don't even think it will work in EPLI don't like it either and it also takes very intelligent footballers to execute it, especially if they never played it before. I was just trying to rationalize the links to uninspiring players like Vermaelen and De Vrij meanwhile van persie has been quiet all game and sneijder has been quiet all tournament |
All the Dutch defenders are average, they are benefiting from Van Gaal's system. If the links to Vermaelen and De Vrij are true however i suspect Van Gaal might be considering a 3 man back line next season cos i believe both players would be suited for such a formation........otherwise it makes no sense. |
We need to overhaul the midfield, that has been our achilles' heel for years now. Herrera alone can't solve the problem, we need at least one more midfielder and if possible 2. Fellaini is not a world class central midfielder and never will be, i don't think he is United quality. No matter how many chances you give him Baba Suwe can never be as eloquent as Obama.......Fellaini is a knockdown specialist,we don't need him. Carrick is past his best , he is at best a back up for next season (that is if we are serious about competing with the big boys). He is good with the ball but has no legs. Cleverley's form is in free fall, who knows what to expect next season. Anderson grows fatter by the minute, who knows if he will be able to fit into a jersey come August. SUMMARY: our midfield is so weak that we need at least 2 midfielders for next season i.e Herrera and someone else. NONE of the guys we had last season should be our regular starters |
Word Cup is too small a sample size for one to adequately assess a player especially a relatively unknown player who has been flying under the radar. I have not seen anything special in Janmaat and would prefer we spent the money on the midfield and wide men and one world class centerback |
dademola: afrodoc... I sight u!! Dayokanu has been trolling too much on various threads, and i just had to put him in his place- no be hin fault anyways....na moyes carry us enter this gbege..lol!!true talk. you know when big trouble brings a man down small troubles will climb on him and start using his ears as joystick |
GustavoFring: I didnt even see that Starboard's post....Oh well, I can see elampiro jabbing him.Bros i salute! Had a busy busy week, but thank God its Friday. Too bad i missed the battle between DK and Dademola but i am happy cos it seems like Dademola stood up to DK and matched him missile for missile. They are both my peoples but Dademola is blood so i gotta ride with him the way Mack 10 rode with Ice Cube ![]() Please SENIOR OGBECHE allow the missiles to marinate online for 24hrs before u delete them, abeg na On a more serious note lets try to avoid all these insults, the year is too new for all that |
folahann: The Fergie factor doesn't necessarily has to do with referees alone. The guy had literarily become a god at Man Utd. I think he stayed too long at the club. true talk. All those asking for Fergie's retirement can now appreciate how good the man was. I don't think even Fergie himself appreciated how good he was, making decerebrate players like Valencia look world class |
montelik: see chance wasted cos Valencia has no left leg. na today? |
chrisley024: Tell me sth.the most important tool an overlapping full back has in his arsenal is the FIRST TIME CROSS. He gets that opportunity because more often than not he has beaten the winger meant to mark on the overlap and has maybe 1-2 seconds free of any marker to whip in a dangerous ball. Check out Gary Neville, Maicon, Alves, Lahm etc They all had this weapon. Kolarov and even Sagna of late have been showing this ability. Unfortunately Valencia always kills the ball dead before attempting a cross EVEN WHEN HE IS UNMARKED! The moment an overlapping full back traps a pass first before whipping in the cross the advantage of the overlap is gone and he now has to depend on his passing, dribbling and intelligence to beat his man.......3 qualities Valencia also lacks |
4 now Valencia is more productiv than Nani HOWEVER Nani has more variety in his play.until Valencia learns 2 move d ball wit his left leg and adds a lil bit of stepovers 2 d game he will b too onesided 2 b truly gr8 Chamotex accordin 2 Espnsoccernet Giggs has one assist more than Valencia in d EPL.Dts not d issue howeva,d issue is Valencia isnt d finishd product yet.he has 2 b proactive in his game 2 work on his game and lift it 2 d nxt level.he would b more deadly if he added a left foot and thru passes 2 his game NOT tryin 2 go outside all d tym.i tell u sooner or later he wuld b found especially against quick, smart FBs lyk A.Cole.even George Best(d 5th Beatle workd on his weaker foot! I made these 2 posts above in Feb 2010. Valencia had his initial gra gra success before people sat down to watch his game. He is one of the easiest people to mark out of the game for any quality full back |
dademola: Afrodoc, nani shud pack his bags and leave jare! We are tired of his frustrating/inconsistent displays!! As for vidal, juve wld prolly sell for nothing less than 65mi feel your pain. but for next season i would rather have adnan, zaha, Mr X( a new world class winger) AND nani over the first 3 and valencia. valencia would always look world class at wigan, hull and okomu oil but mediocre at madrid, man united and chelsea. the only other option is if ashley young signs a contract that limits him to playing ONLY on the right wing then he can be the sub for that wing. ![]() |
