the other is 26 and has played FOUR FULL SEASONS with United, and has not really improved significantly from when he was bought.

na today? check out henry's finishing at monaco and juve, then compare to when he had settled at arsenal.
if a player is young and has certain qualities he should be given a chance...not everybody is born with great finishing, many have to work on it.
even closer to home check cristiano ronaldo's finishing until 2007 and compare to now.

I would still give Zaha some time to get used to playing as a striker and improve his finishing. there is still hope for him.
seems van gaal has not been impressed with chicharito and he is going to offload him.....NOW chicharito is the one who has not significantly improved his game over the years

I agree...but he is much older and is already on the decline. PLUS u mentioned his lack of mobility hampering his performance in this formation.
THE POINT however is that if we have Vidal, Herrera and Strootman then Carrick would no longer be 1st choice or even 1st sub off the bench.
I have nothing against him personally but looking forward to next season or 2 seasons down the line i would rather have cleverley or fletcher on the bench than carrick

elampiro: If we signed Vidal, Gaal would have a problem sorting out his midfielders. It would have been easier if we were in the UCL and had to rotate players often. We will have four midfielders on the bench (add Fellaini) it's five.

no it would improve the quality of the midfield. we would have vidal and herrera starting until midseason when we could probably get strootman.
those 3 could fight for the 2 spots with cleverley and fletcher on the bench.

Mata is 1st choice in the hole, kagawa 2ns choice.
Herrera in central midfield but with licence to move into attacking positions, seems cleverley is 2nd choice there.

fletcher appears to be 1st choice in d more defensive midfield position for now.
