Too bad.

Rojo looks like a decent player.
Money is what is holding this deal back and i believe that will be sorted sòon.
Another versatile player that can play LCB,LB or even if necessary LWB.
If hummels aint coming(sobs) lets just get sign rojo, blind and vidal and start the season joo.
but i have an owen hargreaves inspired concern about vidal's knee.....though thankfully it is the lateral meniscus not d medial meniscus.

P.s why is nobody after garay sef?

coogar: follow my lead if you know i am the wisest.

if?
if your aunty had a pair of testiclës, she woulda been your uncle. mikel cried cos he didn't want united. if herrera had gone to barca/madrid, it would be because he didn't want united......that's quite different from your daft analogy that van gaal could have cancelled the deal.

like i said, blackburn didn't pull the plug, keane himself did. shaw & herrera didn't pull the plug, why would van gaal pull it? why are you people so bent on making daft analogies that do not have any similarity to the topic of discussion.

robben pulled the plug on united, fergie did not. mikel pulled the plug on united - after signing. united won the case when FIFA decided the matter & resold mikel to chelsea with a profit of £12m to boot! keane pulled the plug on blackburn - blackburn didn't pull nada......

so how are these examples of players changing their minds analogous to van gaal(manager) pulling the plug? logic is scarce on this thread....afrodoc, save some money & get yourself one instead of psycho-babbling.

uneasy lies the head that wears the crown.

to whom much is given, so much more is expected. his responsibility only just tripled & that means the criticism of him just tripled. £300k/week + captainship? rooney should better cop a season like suarez did last season, otherwise........
The point being made but which passed over your head (as usual) is that transfer deals can be halted at any point once the deals have not been signed.
That a deal was 90 percent completed is no excuse.
Van Gaal was asked for his input and he said he approved the deal, that is why the transfer went forward.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 1:32pm On Aug 14, 2014
coogar: your analogies can be quite daft!
robben & mikel didn't want to come to united. chelsea offered them more & they went to chelsea.

fergie didn't pull the plug or cancel the deal - mikel cried before a global audience that he was tricked into signing for united.

how does that relate with herrera/shaw that actually wanted to come to united?
Lol i know u r d wisest man in christendom.
when mikel was shining teeth and signing contract for United were you in jail? Oh wise one.
You think if Real or Barca came for herrera at 96
% done he wont drop you and United like a bad habit and cry even more than Mikel?
Oh undaft one talk.
what about roy keane that was happy to sign for blackburn and only stopped signing for them because d offices had closed for the wknd before fergie stole him over the same wknd?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 1:03pm On Aug 14, 2014
Transfers are halted at any point whether its 60 % done or 98.564 % done does not matter.
I remember robben to manchester united before he went to chelsea, mikel to united before going to chelsea, roy keane to blackburn rovers before going to united.

if herrera n shaw was 90 % done then all these were 95.74 % done and we all know how they ended.
deals that have not been signed can be halted at any stage.
he approved them and therefore must share in the credit or blame for the transfers.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 12:55pm On Aug 14, 2014
Shaw and Herrera were approved by Van Gaal and hence they are his signings.
When you consider the sad state of things last season there is NO WAY the United board would have gone to war with a proven Van Gaal over unproven Shaw and Herrera.
Simply put we needed Van Gaal more than we needed Herrera or Shaw.
Then you factor in Van Gaal's legendary intransigence it simply beggars belief to think that he would allow ANYBODY to force Shaw and Herrera on him.
This is a man some of you said might sell Rooney when he took charge.....now he cant stop the purchase of some unproven players?

But there is logic in the claim that playing in a better team can elevate individual performance, just as playing in dull team can dull skills...remember Macsherano was benched at WEST HAM
nobody is arguing that logic, at least i am not.
but is it enough to think cleverley is as good as those guys just simply because they have better players round them?
chelsea might as well buy Mulumbu to replace Matic, at least Mulumbu will be at least as good as Matic cos Mulumbu right now has poor players round him cheesy

we all saw ronaldo's laboured performances for portugal at the world cup. the world best player couldn't get out of his group. the moment he wore the white shirt last night, he was back to his winning & scoring ways....

coincidence??

cleverley showed that sign when he gave yaya toure & gareth barry the beating of their lives some 3 seasons ago when we had a team. his form continued till he got injured.

coogar: so why is cleverley poor then?
since kroos wouldn't have improved our position if he was playing instead of cleverley, how is he then better than cleverley? logic faileth thee once again.

are you saying cleverley wouldn't look thrice as good if he was playing in real madrid or the bayern team of last season? we have all watched boateng - a defender less talented than blackett looked like a world class player in the german team.

bring boateng back to stoke or everton & watch him get exposed again & again. you should stop rating a player with the sum of a team's output. muller has outclassed messi & ronaldo in the last 2 world cups cos he plays in a better team than the messi/ronaldo.

if we were to judge them based on world cup games alone then muller is 20 times better than the duo but is that the case in reality? you have your answer, afrodoc. kroos is a very good midfielder but he doesn't pull his trees in his own. bayern would still be what they are with or without kroos!

if this is your reply to my well-laid out logic then you have no business analysing football matters on these pages. go & sit on van gaal's lap and hear grandpapa stories from him.

if the support doesn't matter, why has muller outclassed messi/ronaldo in the last 2 world cups?
your regular homoerotic sentiments are quite worrying. But that aside your analogy is quite flawed. any yeoman footballer can then claim that if he had iniesta and xavi in midifeld he too could outscore Messi...thats really weak. Cleverley should show signs he is up to it first.
If cleverley moves to real (LOL) all that will be thrice obvious is that he does not belong in that rarefied air.....same way Valencia was better with fellow otu players in Wigan

why not go further & say west ham would have made the top 4 if they had kroos in their midfield last season? how can you talk about kroos & not talk about the wonderful support around him?

rooney isn't muller. carrick isn't schweinsteiger. fellaini isn't lahm. ribery/robben aren't valencia/janujaz. even world class players struggle in a team of mediocre players & this is why ronaldo/messi may never win the world cup.

of course, no winger is performing to the required standard as of now because their confidence was eroded by moyes who crashed the defending champions into the 7th position last season.

as for not having a world class winger in the team, that's nonsense. nani is twice better than di maria. i would even have a very fit ashley young before di maria. form is temporary, class is permanent.

why does kroos shine for his team? he had a muller instead of fat rooney, he had schweini instead of the lethargic carrick last season & he had robben/ribery on the wings instead of a useless one-footed valencia & an unproven featherweight janujaz.

no...
don't confuse yourself. last week, i said there's nothing young is doing now that he wasn't doing in the previous seasons. all premier league wingers defend & cover for their full backs. i cited baines, coleman, rafael & evra. they are full-back/winger rolled into one.
well i think u should pass on ur tips to the old trafford admin because your manager Van Gaal believes there is no world class winger in the squad

coogar: this is a very cheap attempt at scraping the barrel. ashley young's role hasn't changed - don't make it look like a change in position improved his performance so you can have a leg to stand on. valencia is also playing in a "different position" according to your logic, why hasn't valencia improved too? cheesy

young played in a 4-man midfield under fergie/moyes in a 4-4-2 formation young is playing in a 4-man midfield under van gaal in 3-4-1-2 formation. in both cases, the 4-man midfield contains 2 central midfielders, so what has changed? instead of you to admit your prognosis on young was flawed, you are looking for lame excuses.
I already told you Valencia should not be footballer. Go talk Valencia with your twin Elampawa.
Last week you said a wing back does the same thing as a full back, this week you are saying a wing back does the same thing as a winger.

so from food-related injury claim, it has now turned to big tummy over tiny legs? if i may ask, was carrick also injured cos of big tummy/tiny legs? perhaps rafael too?

he's as good as those ones as far as creativity is concerned. cleverley is a gem - moyes ruined him with his pre-historic tactical nous. compare his performance under van gaal to moyes & it's clear enough.....

Cleverley as good as Kroos,Thiago and Gotze in terms of creativity? Comparing him to Thiago and Gotze in that respect is blasphemous.
As per Kroos: if you took away composure, incisive passing and ambidexterous mid to long range shooting from Kroos you would get Cleverley.

I suspect you are very good at reading, i never mentioned injuries.Using injuries as an excuse is just that, an excuse. U neglect the fact that he is playing a different role. I said Young is playing well now. He just might make a decent wing back but as winger he is still mediocre. Only last week Van Gaal was saying we have NO WORLD CLASS WINGER cheesy. The best talent we have on the wings is Nani but he is never consistent. Valencia should not even be a footballer.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 12:13pm On Aug 13, 2014
Nihilist: Given the way modern transfers work, I doubt that this the case.

Player agents hold all the aces, as was seen last year during your unfortunate Fabregas pursuit.

The agents are the ones who hawk the players and initially discuss the transfer fees with the parent club.

The buying club only discuss with the parent club after getting the green light 'underg' from the agents, when basic personal terms must have been agreed.

If the agents are only interested to eking out a new contract for their client, then there will be a lot of wooing and eye fluttering, but ultimately no puna.

And I don't really how you can blame Woodward for being led on, in this regard at least

Because of his antecedents. By their fruits we shall know them. His only fruit was a rotten mop-haired one called Fellaini. This is starting to look similar to last season
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 12:10pm On Aug 13, 2014
RuuDie: My sentiments exactly...

Reverse back to last season - on this same issue, guess who was getting all the stick!?
LOL.
I can pretty much remember it was Woodward getting most if not all the stick for the shabby transfer moves. Moyes had lots of support from fans here early on....Starboard was the earliest and loudest in oppostion to the Moyes issue. Other fans turned on him when the results kept getting worse every week. As per transfers however Woodward got most of the abuse. I remember peeps calling him Woodhead and asking why he spent so much time in Asia with the team when he should have pursuing targets in Europe
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 11:58am On Aug 13, 2014
coogar: you are making plenty assumptions here. firstly, majority of these media-reported targets are mere speculations. there's no evidence united tendered an official bid for di maria or the ones being touted by the media.

secondly, united are not really in a strong position to bring top talents to the club. we aren't in europe - no top talent wants to play for a club that won't be in europe so blaming woodward here is misplaced.

be ready to lose your money then cos he had a calf/shin injury & there's no return date yet on his injury.

if anderson comes back, he would naturally partner herrera. all the sidelined players under moyes would be the best performers under louis van gaal.

•young
•fellaini
•cleverley
•kagawa

we are waiting for anderson to prove his worth when he gets back playing. my predictions remain one player for completion. all the anti-young crew are into hiding now. young has shut their mouths with consistent top performance.
I never said we had made bids for those 3 though. Just that if we are interested in them i don't think all 3 will come. Maybe 2 of them.
Young is playing well no doubt, long may it continue. But Fellaini and especially Anderson should be sold.......why won't he cop a calf injury when the tiny legs are carrying his big tummy?
I never advocated Cleverley being sold, i have always believed he should be kept as a SQUAD player. However i am not one of those that have compared him to Kroos,Gotze,Thiago etc grin

Nihilist: Interesting quote from Van Gaal last night

Valencia is officially a defender.

Could this be a reason why Di Maria and Cuadrado are yet to sign? Are the reluctant to be converted into fullbacks at this stage in their career?
Di Maria is pretty expensive and PSG were in poll position to sign him until recently. The major problem with our deals appears to be Woodward.....he is as clueless in transfer deals as he is accomplished in sponsorship deals. There is something amateurish about the way we have gone about our deals. Lets hope the Manchester United brand and Van Gaal's reputation bridges the gap

LOL. i trust Ancelotti to find a solution, he is a pragmatist.
It could be solved by adding one extra midfielder(Khedira or Alonso) to aid Modric and Kroos in big matches, removing Benzema and playing Rodriguez as a sorta false 9 with Ronaldo and Bale either side of him.
There are several other alternatives, the trick is to make the adjustments without hamstringing the electric attack. That is why Ancelotti gets paid the big bucks

RuuDie: I see where you are coming from but a near pedestrian Sevilla 'almost successfully' stifled them last night (fashi all the efizi they were doing) and still managed a few scares at the other end - now imagine if that was a perfect "park-the-bus" team like Chelsea...
No one is saying they are definitely winning all competitions, however you have to admire their attack. And i so no stifling last night. They flowed quite well from midfield to attack considering they have had very little time to train together.
Parking the bus is very effective against tiki taka teams that look to pass you to death and over-elaborate, not as effective against teams with pace and long distance shooting like this team.
I repeat nobody is saying they will win all but that attack is looking very promising
