Actually Cuadrado can play wing back, he was one of the best wing backs in Serie A 2 seasons ago then last season he was moved to wing forward and excelled also. My issue with the buy is that we should we be focusing on central midfield and defence where we have urgent needs rather than right wing back where we have 3 or 4 decent options already

n0m0705: True he is not mobile, but so is carrick and carrick has been one of our best for many years even with his slow motion. Plus Fellaini is comfortable on the ball than carrick and he is more combative, he only needs to check his tackling.

coogar: fellaini started from the bench & got the winner. minus his goal, he was outstanding. anderson is injured......he won't be back till end of august.

How can u get injured doing nothing more than stretching your hand across the table asking for more food like Oliver Twist?
I can bet that he has a food related injury not a field related one.
The guy has gotten paid far too long for doing nothing......he should be sold already!

Blind can play LB,LCB,LWB and DM and seems to be quite decent in those positions. He actually played in about 3 positions in the world cup and i suspect his best position going forward might actually be in DM

michael carrick is 33yrs old and last season showed that he had lost what little pace and agility he had. Any club that buys him for 15million should sack its CEO.
I don't see valencia going for 20m either unless one foreign nouveau riche club decides to replicate PSG's foolishness.

In the comments attributed to Van Gaal about our wingers he is just saying what some of us have been saying all along.....our wide men are mediocre as wingers or wingforwards. They lack to creativity and consistency needed to play that role at the highest levels.
Nani's problem is more of consistency while the one-legged Valencia and the hunchbacked Young more of creativity.

What Van Gaal is implying is that if for any reason we have to change formation to 4231 or 442 during this season we might be in trouble with our present crop of wingers

blackett and blind compete for LCB positions. both of them are comfortable playing there cos its similar to their natural positions and they are both great passers of the ball.
Carrick to move to the bench. If he had some pace he could have had some use in a 3 man defense but he is as slow as tortoise

u r choosing isolated cases. It is a trend for not only Juve but practically all the other Italian club sides. Juve have been consistently poor in the CL despite dominating every year in the Serie A. When u add the fact that the other clubs in the Serie A are also performing poorly in Europe every year you have to conclude that the league is yeyerious cheesy

At least in a similarly yeye league like the Bundesliga the one team there Bayern actually does well in Europe. In Serie A however both masters and slaves get pummeled in Europe. That sir is the epitome of yeyeness grin
