I'm not saying rock music is not for Kitay. I'm saying that particular rock song is not a good choice. He would have done way better with "Soul provider".

Kitay did well with what he was given but the song wasn't a good choice at all. I don't want to comment on his "rock" tone yet.

Nobody is denying that. He proved that last week. But let's be truthful, the majority of songs that was given out to some of the contestant were never in their comfort Zone but they delivered.

Okeimuite, Mirabel, Steve, were given songs that has little or no melody to it but they delivered. The contestants are not there to sing songs that's in their comfort zone. They are there to challenge themselves.

That is one of the reason I'm not impress with Winner and Pere's Performances. They were given a song that's in their comfort zone while they were find wanting in last week performances........the one material they should be comfortable with.

I was just trying to explain that Praiz was not criticizing Kitay as some people on this thread thought. He only said it was a wrong song choice. Evidently, Kitay didn't have the chance to shine. So folks should not take it out on Praiz. The faculty is at fault here. Just imagine if they had given him a song like Sia's "Alive", it would have been totally underwhelming. Song choice matters.

Anyway, the fact remains that Kitay is one of the best vocalists in this competition. He has amazing control. Gabriel is the other great singer and performer.

The ladies, hmmmm. . . they are just disappointing.

Exactly bro. I now try avoid these young babes cos most of them are quite unstable. Although I would set the age limit at 26 or (lowest) 25.

These young ladies think the world revolves around them in their early twenties. They want to experience all of their fantasies; feel the thrills of double dating; live out the life of a movie character; they want to eat their cake and have it. They are more likely to give drama.

They want a stable guy who would remain stolid but also give them space to run wild without voicing his reservations. Also, they feel he must be ready, waiting to embrace them after their frequent prodigal voyages.

Older ladies seem to realize that the wild and free lives as seen in media and soceity are just scripted for the purpose of income or endorsement. Life is really a mellow affair when you strip it to it's core. Some mature ones are wild too, but you are more likely to find a more stable ladies in this older group. Actually, Praiz was spot on when he said the song was a bad choice for Kitay.

Kitay is an energetic and skillful singer. He put a lot of grit and grunge in his performance (a bit too much at some point) but the song was not meant for him. He needed a melody with a wider range to work his magic. He needed more space to belt and switch tones.

I believe if Kitay had taken "Don't wanna miss a thing" or "Soul provider", he would have nailed it.

It seems Praiz's comment was meant for the faculty. They made the wrong song choice for Kitay. Also, Ty Mix did not invalidate the observation made by Praiz but only highlighted Kitay's strong points which were not so evident in his performance because the song didn't fit him.

No singer can perform all songs or genres exceptionally. You won't see Beyonce sing country or rock not because she is not a good singer but because it would not give her the opportunity to dazzle like if she were singing rnb, soul or gospel. Also, Beyonce shines when a song provides her the chance to belt high notes with her characteristic strong coloratura. Give her low, mellow notes and she will not blow you away.

Every singer has a niche or a range of niches within which they perform best. Today, Kitay was not in familiar waters.
