People should not focus on Yusuph. His fans will always vote for him. I think that's the general problem with Nigeria when it comes to quality and finesse. We often choose to ignore requisite skills once we take a liking to someone. Take Emekus for example. His vocal skills are mediocre at best yet he had huge support in the competition. Why? The fans just loved him regardless. Why do you think Iyanya had to switch to street music away from his sleek, smooth rnb style? Cos e no dey sell. The majority of Nigerians believe a singer does not need good vocal skills (or proper training) to succeed. That convoluted line of thought is what makes us local champions. Idols West Africa and perhaps Project fame were geared towards raising proper musicians but look at what they have become. Street ti take over. Let's enjoy it like that. Maybe in a few years we will get it right. |

Well said. In fact, na perfect analysis. Are you a record executive? sleepyeyez: TRIBUTE WEEK PREVIEW Contestants will be paying tributes to dead legends. You might not agree with me, but why should you? Its my opinion. Feel free to tell me what you think though.
Dapo- Liberian Girl by Michael Jackson. The Wizkid-wannabe got that soft and fluid voice MJ had when he was a kid so he could strike a chord during his performance. Needs to work on his seriousness, pick up some choreography and avoid faking excitement on stage. I watched his "is it because I love you" cover n I kept waiting for him 2 get 2 d end. Wouldn't b a bad idea to sing and not rap lil kesh's part on elimination night.
Eli- Different colors by Lucky Dube. Perfect song for the Big Softie as He's got that big wailing tone Dube had. Needs to work on his awkward movement on stage.
Pere- Searching by OJB. He's a ballad killer so he should murder this. Needs to come out of his shell while on stage and perform like he loves, and has a passion for music. he performs like he has a lot on his mind. Shouldn't be on probation tho.
Oluchi- Kokoroko by Kefee. A song not beyond the Probation queen's comfort zone which should see her deliver . as usual I see her giving us another average performance. Should start packing her bags. She haf try.
Winner- Vulindlela by Brenda Fasie. Given another song she should tear apart but I expect her to give us another "she try" performance. Don't make us start looking at the clock everytime u on dat stage. Dats if she survives elimination night cos ur "emi ni baller" performance was painful to watch. Better get some "street" lessons from okeimute. Start packing ur luggage infact.
Mirabel- Where do broken hearts go by Whitney Houston. Where do inconsistent performers go? Home. Dats where. Too big a song for her so its bound to b another boring, dry one. After her lady gaga performance I thought "well, wt do u no, this dark horse might surprisingly be in this for the long haul". But not anymore. Her embarrassingly underwhelming performance of " johnny" makes me feel ur not escaping elimination. U can never find johnny with dat kind of delivery na.
Okiemute- Rehab by Amy Winehouse. Girl's a beast so I pity this song when she gets her amazing vocal claws round it's 'neck'. Wasn't too thrilled bout her "disturbia" performance weeks back tho. Guess she's human after all. so "all the way up" should be her motto. If she Sticks to excellent performances and avoid going a step lower, The "talk talk" girl could win this competition. If Kitay go gree na.
Elizabeth- No Woman No Cry by Bob Marley. She'll give us a dope peformance, No doubt that. Not a vocally challenging song so she could take it to greater heights by adding some pretty runs. By the way, her "standing ovation" performance was lit. But I think u guys are over hyping d tin o. Kitay and okeimute might be favourites to win this but we could be in for a shock. Dats if she pulls some more "love don't care" on us. U never know with project fame.
Kitay- What's going on by Marvin Gaye. Does he ever have a bad day? Nah. He could become the next PF winner with the way he's going. So it might not be a very popular song to nigerians but dat heavenly grit in his voice n his creative stage antics will more than see him through. We still got other contestants but d battle for the crown is shaping up to be a Kitay VS Okeimute affair.
Yusuf- Iyawo asiko by Nomoreloss. been given another great song but fans of one of the most hyped PF contestant of all time shouldn't get their hopes up. we've seen him make a mess of very average, non-challenging songs. If his fans don't get him out of probation as usual den its the end of the road for him.
U agree?
*yawns and goes back to sleep* |

Jasmine21 has said it all.
But Dapo is likely to mess up that MJ song. No be swear o. He'd better start taking vocal training more seriously.
I'm happy about Kokoroko. I feel Oluchi would do justice to the song especially Timaya's part. The chorus is simple and there's room for her to express herself. Babe, no fall my hand o.
Suffice it to say that Elizabeth will win the day with that sweet song. Audience will join her, even judges sef. Her performance will be lit.
Yusuph? Let me not bother. His fans will keep him safe no matter what he sings. |

Kowa is the same. If one chieftain from PDP asks to join, will they be able to refuse him membership? No. They will take his money and dance to his tune.
What we need is awareness as citizens. We need to know that if we vote certain individuals into office we will live with the consequences. The victory of Nigerians can only come from getting the right man to win the primaries. If not, someone would just buy himself a ticket and lead the party into another season of corruption.
Once the parties have chosen their candidates all we can do is choose the lesser evil. But evil is evil, less or not.
A pity our constitution recognizes only partisan politics. We need the chance to vote individuals instead of parties as a whole. |

Vote out Yusuph? With his army of fans that are ready to consume anybody? Let's just hustle to keep our people in the competition. That Yusuph guy cannot "jah" yet unless there are only 2 people on probation with him. I fear for Oluchi. She needs to wow the judges if she wants to remain in this competition. That's the way out cos Mirabel and Pere get plenty fans. |

The notes would veer off whenever they try to belt or insert runs. Mirabel was just off through out. It was as if she was just not interested in the show. Yusuph made one hideous attempt at falsetto that nearly made me jump out of my seat. It wasn't all dismal though. That guy Kitay was exceptional. He is clearly ahead of all of them. That girl okiemute was on steroids or something. Elizabeth too. These three made me smile tonight. Oluchi is breaking my heart. I don't know how she will escape eviction this time. If not, Michael Jackson would not have died in the care of Dr. Conrad Murray in 2009. This is not a Nigerian doctor thing. If at all there is anybody to be blamed for most avoidable deaths in the Nigerian health system, it's the government and it's health administrators, not usually practising clinicians. I rest my case. Properties › Re: Demolition Of Properties In Hitec Estate By LBS without court injuction by AfroKnight: 6:58am On Aug 28, 2016 |
Before demolition, a team from the government will mark the property. It cannot be impromptu cos even roadside shops get due notice before demolition. Even the shanties get notice too. How much more a building as big as this. Was the building marked for demolition? Government workers can't just wake up one morning to bring down a building, they must be mobilized for it. Movement of heavy equipment (caterpillar) to the site costs money that won't come out of the private pockets of workers. What I'm driving at is the state government must be aware.
The owner is not telling the whole story. Does the land belong to government? Is the building sitting on pipeline? There is nothing you can do if either is the case. Someone at the ministry is denying knowledge of this for reasons best know to them.
This is a major action by the state. Even if your land does not have c of o, or you haven't approved your building plan, they still give you grace to file the necessary documents. There is something the owner is quiet about. |

anambra state will say it is superior to enugu state. even amongst ourselves, marrying someone who is not from a preferred state is met with stiff opposition. you would hear things like "I can't marry a girl from anambra state". it's really sickening and pathetic.
at this rate, an Igbo man can never be president. sorry to say. That is the sad reality. When I sojourned in the East, I kept hearing this weird advice from Igbos: " If a snake and a man from Mbaise come into your house, kill the Mbaise man before the snake." It was so odd that one would value the life of a human being lower than that of a snake! I was also warned not to go near Mbaise girls cos they are diabolic ladies. That's within one geopolitical zone. The peculiar sense of right and wrong is strange. I'm sure that if Okorocha should emerge as the Presidential candidate for APC, they would give him worse treatment than the poor support they gave Ojukwu at previous elections. |

we igbos ehn. I just don't understand the misguided hatred. The same hatred they showed to Dora Akunyili when she ran for Senate under APGA. They'd rather make peace with Tinubu than let Dora smell a senatorial seat. |

They prefer to call a drug dealer a hero but hate those who stand for truth. When Dora Akunyili ran for Senate in Anambra, they decided to vote a "Yoruba" party (ACN) candidate, Ngige instead of their indigenous APGA, because her reforms in the health sector affected shady businessmen from the East. They preferred to follow their so-called enemy,Tinubu's party rather than allow a woman of proven virtue lead their people. How do you expect such people to recognize someone like Madam Oby? |

jasmine21: And by the way, I hate the song given to Dapo this week. (Lil Kesh Is it because I love you) Not fair. They should've have given him a song that will actually showcase his voice. Like even Yusuf was given a song that will bring out his voice & he was really singing during rehearsals yesterday I was happy 4 him. It'll be good if he will calm down and sing like that this weekend Exactly what I said about Kitay's performance last week. Praiz said (and I agree that) the song was a bad choice and some of you guys were displeased by this observation. Kitay did the rock song to the best of his ability but it was not amazing. Cos the song just couldn't bring out the best in him. If Dapo does this song his own way, those who don't know his true ability may not see the effort he put into it. Song choice matters. It will be very interesting to see what he will do with this street song. I wish him best of luck. |
