Why are you saying this? I never judged him on his background. I still dated him and gave him my number when I found out he was Nigerian. The paper thing unfortunately became an issue. People were warning me and I could not fully trust him. It's sad but that's how it was. You can read the replies on this thread and they are all mostly saying the same thing. This is why I even came here because of this

You said ALL your friends who dated Nigerian guys had issues with them and you thought you'd never date one of us. You gave him your number with a mind prepared to block him. He rang you several times for 3 days and you knew it was him but refused to take his calls. He told you he loved you and you dismissed it because you didn't believe it. You said you don't generally get involved with "fresh off the boat" guys cos they just want papers. You even expressed doubt at the authenticity of the breakup conversation he had with his Nigerian girl.

These are just a few hints from within a year of your friendship/relationship with him. Reading through your story, anyone would think this guy is a crook and that is only because of how you have been defending yourself from him. I wonder if you would have treated a guy from another West African country the same way.

As a rule I don't bother with people who doubt me. I have learned not to spend precious time trying to prove myself. I think that Nigerian guy deserves a break from you. He's been trying too hard to please someone who will never be convinced.

The best you can do for him is to be frank. It will never work because he will never be believable.

I have seen illegal Nigerian who got married to a Russian girl who helps him when he's in need and both of them end up in Nigeria and have one of the big companies in a particular region of Nigeria today. Which she got through the help of the former illegal immigrant uncle. There are things that can make some people illegal immigrants in such a situation. It is clear he came to that country legally and possibly his document expired or something else.

I never suspected he faked it. I actually believed the conversation cos it had other stuff there that he was reluctant for me to see initially but to prove his innocence he let me read all.

This relationship was very difficult for me because I was not able to let go completely because of the thoughts ( paper issues). I didn't want to get hurt so I did not allow myself to be completely open.
