EUROBOMBER:
All in all, Jonathan will emerge victorious. This is the simple political arithmetics:

GEJ will win the SE/SS/MB. buhari will win heavily in the NW as usual; Kaduna is going to be hot and divided 50-50 between Kaduna north & south. besides, Jonathan's VP is from Kaduna and the sitting Governor is PDP too. Lamido of Jigawa will do all he can to gather some Jigawa votes for Jonathan. Votes from the SW will be split and GEJ will get a reasonable size of the votes from there. The NE will not be too impressive because of the ding dung battles between boko haram and the MNTF; losing ground and recapturing it tomorrow. embarassed embarassed

The APC soldiers on nairaland are fighting a lost battle. I pity them because they will know the real definition of frustration after the elections. cheesy cheesy cheesy

Goodluck Jonathan will remain Nigeria's president come next month! cool
Continue deceiving yourself and your paymaster. GEJ cannot win the MB. Let me break down the middle belt for you and the result.

Niger: GMB 70%
Kwara: GMB 60%
Nassarawa: GMB 60%
Benue: GEJ 60%
Plateau: GEJ 55%
Kogi: GMB 55%

Final result for the North Central zone (middle belt)

GMB 60%
GEJ 40%

STAY THE COURSE: TEXT OF THE ADDRESS BY BUHARI TO LEADERS & ELDERS OF APC

APC presidential candidate Gen. Buhari addressed leaders and elders of the APC today Feb. 17th at the Shehu Musa Yar'Adua centre in Abuja. Below is the text of his address...
The National Chairman Chief John Oyegun, thank you very much for your speech. Leaders and elders of our party, I want to join the Chairman in welcoming you all to this meeting. In the last two months, we have travelled the length and breadth of this country, we have heard the cry of our people and we have told them that we hear their cry – the cry for change.
As you are all aware, our country is passing through trying times imposed on us by the bad PDP administration. The imminent change in answer to the yearnings of our people has been delayed by the postponement of the February 14th, 2015 elections. Our patience and resilience will be tested in the days ahead. We must pass this test. In a time like this, which in football analogy can be referred to as extra time, we must avoid making costly mistakes. In the weeks ahead, I would like to implore you to remain true to the vision – to build a country that works for all of us and not just for the few. To rescue and stabilise our nation from the hands of plunderers. On this, I believe we are all agreed.

The important issue today is that we must use the next six weeks that have been imposed on us, to re-charge and re-focus on our goal. The goal is to win the elections now slated for March 28th and April 11th with a convincing majority. We should aim to achieve a victory that will be beyond dispute and proceed to form the next government and start work on the task of rebuilding our beloved country.

Our eyes must be on the objective to build a great society that works for all of us. A country where every child has an equal opportunity to get an education, where every young Nigerian who needs a job can find one. Where the sick are looked after and senior citizens are provided for. A country which gives value to human life, where the welfare and security of all is a national priority and corruption is defeated.

However, I must not fail to mention at this point, one issue which has become topical in the last few days and that is the worrisome revelations by Capt. Sagir Koli about how he, a serving officer at that time, was deployed, with other serving officers, some more senior in rank to work with key politicians of the PDP to rig the Ekiti elections. Up till now, there has been no official denial of this most unfortunate event. It makes me wonder, in the circumstances that led to shifting of the date of the Federal Elections, whether the security services are even now being prepared to play similar roles in the March 28th and April 11th elections. Let me reiterate once more that our security services have serious constitutional responsibilities to the people of the nation and so their importance to the health of the country cannot be under estimated. It is therefore imperative that their leaders must not drag these invaluable institutions into the realm of partisan politics.

I personally and, am sure, all Nigerians, have tremendous respect for our security services. I therefore urge strongly that they stick to, and concentrate on, their constitutional duties, otherwise they stand the risk of becoming part of our already complicated national situation.

I am deeply encouraged by the very high degree of cooperation and commitment to our common purpose of changing Nigeria for good that you all have exhibited in our campaign. I have noticed many of us embarked on our campaign trips without carrying a change of clothing hoping to return home the same day only to spend the night on strange beds because the dynamics of the campaign required that they spend the night away from home. You have ignored in some cases personal health challenges and given yourself to the campaign effort just to be part of the movement for change.

There are some of you who lost in the various primaries to choose candidates for our party during these elections and rather than being disappointed you have thrown your energies and resources to the campaign not minding your personal losses. And there are others who have been made mind boggling offers by our opponents in a bid to break our ranks and curtail our momentum in the march to change Nigeria for good, yet you have chosen to be on the side of a cause that is just.

I therefore appeal to you all party leaders and faithful not to rest thinking that all is won. Six weeks is a long time and we do not know the plans of the other side but with our strong resolve we will prevail.

Therefore let us keep our eyes on the ball. Let us work as we have never done before, and let us watch and help each other. The days and weeks ahead will be tough. Our resolve will be tested and all kinds of evil tricks will be on display. But do not despair. The goal is in sight. Change is coming. The people of Nigeria will prevail. God has destined Nigeria to be a great country. We shall overcome and Change shall be achieved.

God bless you all, God bless the APC and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Thank you.

General Muhammadu Buhari GCFR

(Presidential Flag Bearer of the APC, 2015)

Nice speech. I can feel it strongly that true positive change and progress is about to start in Nigeria with the government APC is about to form. The Nigeria of our dreams is about to start, where there is equal opportunity.

Change is here!

Well, let's wait and see.
They were not against changing the Speaker. What they were against was changing the Speaker in an unconstitutional means. Get your facts right. You cannot ridicule due process and the rule of law because you want to change the speaker.

GEJ should just free us abeg. He has totally messed up the economy and security of this country.

He should go and rest and enjoy his loot with Patience. They have tried their best. We want to try another team.

Another team of people with integrity, high intellect and discipline.

A team comprising of GMB, PYO, Ezekwesili, Pat Utomi, Fashola, Kwanwanso, Prof West, among other intellectuals. We need a new team! We have seen what Jona's team can offer.

As of now, dollar to naira is above N210 and pound sterling to naira above N305. And still, our economy is import based, meaning we are bleeding seriously. Is this the first time international oil prices will be falling that the impact seems to have created confusion for Jona's economic team.

Madam Okonjo thank you, you have tried. We appreciate your efforts. Pls free us. Go and rest. We are ready to bring some other geek on board, Pat Utomi, Soludo or other quiet geniuses out there. We have them in Nigeria.

Madam Diezani thank you. You have tried, pls free us. Let us see what Ezekwesili (Madam due process) can achieve with that ministry.

The dying PDP is good for our democracy. Sincerely, PDP is just a monster that has stunted this country's growth.

PDP going down in this Presidential elections is well pleasing to the ears. Afterwards, let them quietly go and restrategise on how to rebuild the party as a credible alternative in Nigeria.

Well, what can I say. Indeed there is freedom of association. And freedom of words.

I was amazed as well with how you were tackled on that thread you opened but now I guess they already saw the handwriting on the wall and decided to confront you headlong.

I don't think I commented on that thread, but I disagree with your submissions. There is no smoke without fire, the issue of interim govt cannot be totally put away from the govt by her utterances and body language.

Albeit, everyone is entitled to his/her opinions.

Now Bros I think your decamp is more than the criticisms meted to you on the earlier thread. You are just using the earlier issue as a a justification.

I have had reasons to argue in favour of GEJ (despite being a GMB supporter) in my office, and no matter the issue, I always stand my ground, justify my assertions with reasons and do not get pained becos the other GMB supporters do not buy into my stance at that particular time. It's only a dumb person that will not agree that every human has a good and bad side.

I'm sure u don't always switch family whenever u had a bitter quarrel with your siblings.

Now for you to come out and say you are abandoning the progressives because of a disagreement that happened just this morning that both sides even played a role in blowing out of proportion shows that you may not be entirely sincere about your underlying reason for wanting to jump ship. I may be wrong anyways.

Let me also chip this in. It is GMB that is contesting and you are canvassing votes for because of your convictions that he'll bring sanity into the country. Not Gbawe, Desola and the remaining guys that you had exchange of words with. I find it unbelievable that because you had a harsh criticism from some other GMB supporters you decided to abandon him and the change you have been preaching that he can bring. I think there is more to this.

Kennywills7:
How good was d performance of obj compare to gej sir?
It depends on the aspect one is looking at.
Obasanjo performed far better than GEJ on the economy and security. He created more jobs as well. Obasanjo opened up the banking and telecoms sectors. This created hundreds of thousands of direct and indirect jobs.

GEJ does not have a specific sector he revolutionised that created hundreds of thousands of jobs that can be confirmed. He together with his finance minister are just deceiving themselves with the figures they are brandishing as jobs they created.

Obasanjo left the economy in a very strong state. If GEJ leaves in May, he will be leaving a very weak economy.

GEJ seems to be getting it right with infrastructural devpt, especially with roads and the rail, although it is going at a very slow pace. I'm still suffering on FGN roads I regularly frequent, Apapa-Oshodi express, Shagamu-Ikorodu road & Lagos/Ibadan express despite their noise on these roads. I travelled on Lag-Ibn express 2 weeks ago, and with what I saw, they may still spend 2/3 yrs if not more before they complete it

GEJ's claim of transforming the agricultural sector is only seen in the media, not in the markets thru the prices of foods, and in the export of agricultural produce.

Personally, I like the fact that GEJ established more Universities and Almajiri schs. Throughout the existence of these schs he would be remembered for it.

GEJ by ensuring PDP did not conduct a presidential primary, destroyed some democratic principles of our political system. It encouraged a culture of impunity where everyone was looking for automatic tickets. From the president, to governors, to senators, House of Rep, etc and even party chairman sef. This is not a good precedence. If GEJ wins re-election (God forbid!), that precedence will not augur well for the political system of our country.

GEJ most especially thru those around him has further pronounced Nigeria's religious and ethnic fault lines. Obasanjo was a detribalised leader, his cohorts didn't emphasise religion and ethnicity to win elections.

GEJ puts less pressure on INEC and didn't manipulate the body as much as Obasanjo. That is a plus for him, I just hope he wont rubbish that in this coming election.

Obasanjo's fight against corruption, though selective in some cases, nonetheless, it achieved better results than what obtains today.

Overall, I will give it to Obasanjo. I'm not a fan of Obasanjo, though I admire some specific qualities in him just like GEJ. And I didn’t even vote for him in 1999 and 2003.

So you think if Amaechi is corrupt and GEJ is having an issue with him, don't you know GEJ would have used that to mess him up using the media?? Or is Amaechi now more powerful than the president?
PoliticsRe: Presidency In Dilemma Over Four Govs’s Secret Alliance With APC by agabusta: 7:42am On Feb 14, 2015
I just pity some northern PDP governors. Buhari will mess up this election for them. A Buhari's victory will deliver almost all Northern states into the hands of the APC in the gubernatorial elections. No wonder they are having clandestine rendezvous with the APC. They don't want to go to jail for their thievery. They quickly want to negotiate grin

Eyah, PDP sorry tongue

Although I won't want the APC to go and become too big and as such become another monster just like the PDP. And it won't be nice for the polity to have APC in control of the entire core North and PDP in control of the SS/SE. I detest ethnic politics and that would encourage it.

A much better scenario that will create a good balance is for APC to win the presidential and for PDP to win Lagos in gubernatorial, and APC also to win Rivers and Imo in gubernatorial. If that happens, it will weaken the Tinubu structure a bit and strengthen Okorocha to be able to launch a successful Presidential battle in 2019 if supported by APC SS and SE. I'm from the SW, but Okorocha remains my candidate in 2019 if Buhari wins this election. I just like that man.
PoliticsRe: CBN Under Pressure To Devalue Naira Again by agabusta:

Soludo has said it all! That Nigeria currently has handed the economy over into the hands of those we are supposed to regulate. After we have achieved some stability, I think this Emefiele should be allowed to go back to Zenith.
PoliticsRe: Main Lesson From Jonathan's Plight by agabusta: 3:46am On Feb 14, 2015
You people should stop this your ethno-centric whinning!

You are equally as bigoted as the Northerners u dish out criticism to on a regular basis.

It's quite simple. The North and SE/SS are quite ethno-centric. They definitely will vote for their person.

I don't understand this whining from SE/SS guys as if they are not equal bigots with the Northerners.

The SW mainly votes for performance! They also like trying another person at the helms of affairs as shown by 1999 till date political history. They have voted in and out PDP and 'APC' (formerly AD/ACN).

That is the main reason Buhari will be winning the SW. Anybody that thinks GEJ can win the SW is just deceiving his or herself. The closest percentage, I mean CLOSEST percentage GEJ can get to GMB in SW total votes is 45% to GMB's 55%.

Characteristic of SW politics, you'll see that PDP may also win Lagos. I'm from the SW and reside in Lag, and I can tell that a lot of people are already tilting towards trying 'change' in Lagos. Even though, I support APC, I know they will find it real hard in Lag.

With all the on-going politicking, if APC succeeds in winning Lagos, then without any contradiction, I will crown Tinubu as the greatest Nigerian politician.
