All those badmouthing Amaechi and blackmailing the dude, pls come out and defend your lies. The man has categorically stated on national media that he has paid salaries to date. Anyone with contrary opinion should please come forward with proof. PDP and lies are Siamese twins. ![]() |
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/12/jonathan-trouble-gov-amaechi/ GOVERNOR Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State was recently appointed Director-General of the Buhari Campaign Organisation. At an interactive session, Amaechi among other things, reels out plans of the campaign organisation and also clears the air on knotty issues. Excerpts: Why Jonathan is in trouble — Gov Amaechi Says he didn’t fund Buhari’s campaign By Dapo Akinrefon Is it true you funded the Buhari campaign for the primaries? I did not. Buhari did not spend money for the primaries. Anybody who said they spent money should come forward with evidence. We have maintained consistently that Nigerians would fund us and that is why we have launched our campaign we are hoping that people will contribute. It is there on our website; you will just look at the account and go and pay. And we are making sure that we convince General Buhari to be the sole signatory to that account. That is the way we would raise our money. We would not depend on rich men. You can’t fight the president on funds. See how much he raised from people who some of them collected the N2.3trillion on oil subsidy and are yet to pay back. If he is not prosecuting them for oil subsidy, why shouldn’t they pay for his election? The president is trying to raise over N200 million for power and then those people he is helping to raise the money are giving him N500million. We can’t fight the president with money, we will fight him with the people. We will fight the president by telling Nigerians that they have to vote for change and the symbol of change for us is the APC and General Buhari. I will like to reiterate again that General Buhari did not pay anybody to vote for him at the primaries and he won because Nigerians want change. How do you intend to combine your duty as director-general of the APC presidential campaign with your duties as governor? We will try. That is why there is a deputy governor. I have a deputy who is efficient and I will also from time to time go back to the state. But we need to deliver and we are all making sacrifices ?to deliver this change. I don’t know how people feel. The president and the federal government have not denied the fact that N2.3trillion was taken for oil subsidy and that was six months in 2011. Oil subsidy before that time was N300billion, so how did it rise to N2.3trillion and the people are not afraid? The federal government and all its agents were not afraid that N2.3trillion was taken. So, basically, I don’t mind what I can do legally to make sure that there is a better Nigeria. What about the controversy that you have not paid eight months salaries? Anybody who said I have not paid him salaries should come forward. We have paid up till December; you can call Rivers State to confirm. I got a Blackberry message on Tuesday, saying; “Thank God, we are going home with our salary before Christmas.” What we agreed in the cabinet was that we should make sure that everybody goes home with his salary before Christmas because as a Christian, I know that December 23 and 24 are the two days that Christians like to shop. I do not owe salaries in Rivers State. I am proud to say that I will pay salaries until I leave office and I will continue to pursue development projects in the state. I was even surprised that the president’s spokesman even put it in one of his statements when he was responding to the accusation that the people who contributed to the N21billion are those plundering our economy and he said after all, Governor Amaechi funded the election of Buhari while he owes teachers eight months salary. And I asked the question, for you to be a presidential spokesman, facts and statistics must be on your palm; you shouldn’t joke with that. But the man was just reacting to gossip. What are Buhari’s programmes for Nigeria if he wins the 2015 election? The message is simple. Buhari chased away Maitasene while he was Head of State. Many Nigerians will remember that Maitasine was like Boko Haram and they were killing people in Borno and Kano and Buhari chased them away because he is a strong leader. We need a strong leader now to chase away Boko Haram or it will chase us away. Buhari will deal with insurgency because he has done that before. Many Nigerians would remember that when Borno was attacked by Chadian rebels, Buhari as an officer of the Nigerian Army almost chased them into Ndjamena. He had crossed the Lake Chad when President Shehu Shagari called him back. If he didn’t do that, Borno would have been overrun by Chadian rebels and till today Chad has never crossed into Nigeria to fight us. It takes a strong leader to do that. We will deal with insurgency. The country may be broke now because of two factors. The first which is very critical is the diversion of funds at the NNPC. That is the greatest factor for me. The level of diversion in the NNPC has affected everybody including me. We will deal with power because if you don’t address it, you cannot tackle unemployment. The essential factor for industrialisation from elementary economics is power. So, when you hear that people in the power sector contributed N500 million for the president’s re-election, where did they get it? First, you must pay your bill every month whether you like it or not; whether you have power or not. People are now being forced to pay N75 every month whether they use power or not. So, they are being punished for not having power. How do you respond to the claim by the PDP that Buhari is a semi-illiterate jackboot? Our campaign will be issue-based. The president has a PhD in Zoology, how many farms do we have and how many people has he employed? If you say the president has a PhD and Buhari does not have one, let him show us his thesis. You are bringing yourself to the level of those who are making those allegations. Don’t bring yourself to that level, remain focused on the issues and let the president meet you there. Many have defected from the PDP to the APC and as soon as they move they become progressives. What exactly does the APC stand for and what is the ideology of the party? How many people would say that when I was in the PDP, I wasn’t a progressive? Those who left the PDP are the progressive wing of the party. Please tell me what else I need to do to become a progressive. The ideology of progressivism is about the people and I bother about them a lot. That is why there is free education in my state which is not part of the PDP manifestoes. While in the PDP, I introduced free education and health care. What else would I need to become a progressive? Those who studied at the University of Port-Harcourt will say that I have been a Marxist from my university days till today. APC stands for a progressive ideology and you can see that in our manifestoes. What is the assurance that Buhari will win the presidential election? The simple electoral arithmetic is that before the president had the South-south and Southeast 100 percent, but now there are problems for the PDP in Cross Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta States. It wasn’t like that before. By this time the PDP would have been dancing but have you seen them doing so? When they were doing the Transformation Ambassador of Nigeria (TAN) rallies, I knew that it will get to this point. You have not seen the PDP dancing or doing any major campaign because there are problems everywhere. There is problem within the party in Enugu, Ebonyi and Abia States. So, it is no longer the same. The electoral map appears to have changed. If we go to the north, does the APC have problems in Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa and Sokoto? Did we have problem in Lagos State? No, it is the PDP that has problems in those states. So the political map has changed and that is why I believe that by God’s grace, Buhari and the APC will win. I am a Christian and I think positively. I am not from the north; I am not from the south. I am a Nigerian. I don’t believe in indigeneship, but in citizenship. Buhari will win the 2015 presidential election by God’s grace and he will also win because the political map does not favour the president anymore. In 2011, in the South-South and Southeast, we said he is our brother and now we are saying he is no longer our brother. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/12/jonathan-trouble-gov-amaechi/#sthash.Kodi8rn4.dpuf |
Did Ribadu get the Adamawa PDP ticket? |
Nice one. We need to keep on preaching peaceful coexistence. I know 'some' people on both sides of the divide will still sneer at this good news. But may the Lord touch all their souls. We are going to get there soon. A peaceful Nigeria with equal opportunities for all. Meanwhile... GMB 2015-2019. |
Ameachi cannot stoop low to debating with Wike. Moreover Amaechi is not contesting for any elective post. Why is Wike's campaign centred on attacking Amaechi? Ameachi can delegate any member of his cabinet to represent him or even his party’s gubernatorial candidate. This Wike is just a noise maker. |
oziegbe2015:I'm not PDP Bro. Infact, I am even a staunch supporter of change both online and in real life. But I think it's not nice for u to be making jest of someone that does not have children (if that is the case anyway). To the extent that u are even casting smear on adoption of children. Adoption is good and should be encouraged by all well meaning Nigerians. It will go a long way in resolving some flaws in our thinking pattern and even behaviour. Jona is trying to use his adoption principles to publicise he is a good man with a good heart. You are already falling into the trap he is setting for u to criticise him on that and thus makes him the saint and caring man and u the vagabond who does not care for the fatherless. Bros politics has now advanced, and it's even like a chess game now. One must be careful of all utterances while also strategically analysing the moves and objectives of the other side before reacting. |
oziegbe2015: |
oziegbe2015:What u wrote up there is not nice. There should be a limit to where politics should be played. Kindly retract the statement. |
PDP propaganda if we are not careful may give us serious issues in this country. This is because this propaganda is being fired up by bigoted and highly biased ethnic jingoists. |
Wow, this is interesting. That is some good research work there obi. PDP propaganda if we are not careful may give us serious issues in this country. This is because this propaganda is being fired up by bigoted and highly biased ethnic jingoists. Their biased nature makes them believe every crap churned out by the evil PDP. And this biased nature also makes them propagate this same information with so much energy. No matter how many times you let them know that the person that made the statement that "they will make Nigeria ungovernable for Jona" is a PDP guy, Kaita, they will never listen. They will keep insisting gullibly that it is GMB. No matter how you try to let them know, that the Northern elements that was making a silly noise then that "power must return to the North" are PDP guys because of the PDP zoning formula, they will never believe you, even when confronted with superb evidences. To the disadvantage of our polity, it is this same bigoted soul, that took the PDP propaganda that insinuated that PDP is a christian party, to the amazement and bewilderment of sensible Nigerians . PDP also has a large chunk of Northern muslims and even southern muslims sef. Even one of the most vocal supporter of the president, Asari Dokubo is even a muslim! Their gullible sef will never reason in that direction, instead they prefer to malign the image of GMB, one of the few national figures we have in Nigeria with impeccable integrity and love for the common man. The trend is now even assuming a dangerous direction, because the brainwashing we always accuse the northern masses of seems to be happening now at the south! Quite ironical I must say. |
The man thinks himself smart. He was quick to tell us Obj built the refinery, but did not tell us the role played by buhari. He also decided to engage his selective reasoning faculty by telling us it was shagari regime that defeated maitatsine, but decided to leave out the role played by Buhari as the commander of the expeditionary force that dislodged the criminals and chased them deep into the heart of Chad republic. |
This Wike just speaks like an illiterate mor0n. Does he even know how much 30 billion is? If u have your evidence, pls bring it up instead of shouting like a tout all over the place. This talkative Wike making an incredible allegation cannot even tell us which months the Rivers state govt is owing workers if indeed he has his facts. Instead of making ambiguous claims to stir up emotions, tell us the months workers are yet to receive their pay, and you will see how you will be countered with facts. |
Jonathan has mismanaged our funds! That is just the plain truth. His administration is only good at giving excuses. Their latest excuse on the mismanagement of the economy that resulted in the devaluation of the naira is that oil price is dropping. This is not the first time oil price will drop. Even when Jona assumed the presidency from Yaradua in 2009, the oil price then was still lower than what the oil price dropped to now that they are screaming austerity all over. The cold hard truth is that this present govt has messed up the economy and mismanaged the funds in their care. |
chukwudi44:Why are you people quick to always respond that devaluation of the naira has to do with falling oil price?? Is this the first time oil pricr is dropping?? Pls. Do your research well. Even the price the oil dropped to now is still higher than what we have when Jona assumed the presidency after Yaradua. The devaluation of the naira is due to poor economic mangt strategy of this current administration. Simple. |
chukwudi44:How come your warped mind thinks it's only muslims that will vote Buhari. You better wake up and smell the coffee. His support cuts across religions and ethnicities. |
If u think Buhari support is only on the internet, then you are in for a great surprise. The chunk of his support is infact among the illiterate grassroots. The people are tired of the directionless govt of Jona. His govt is only good at giving excuses. Insecurity is on the increase, he'll blame opposition. Yet, for years the clueless one has been unable to get the sponsors of boko haram or even their assistant sponsor. We can see swift justice in Pakistan, where some persons have been hanged already for the terrorist attack last week. Here in Nigeria, we have not had any convincing arrest and conviction of a boko haram since the war started. The SS and police even burgled the Kabir Sokoto case, and let the guy off the hooks. Someone who a lot of people are very sure is a confirmed terrorist. Sincerely, i'm beginning to think GEJ may have a hand in this boko haram issue or he is just clueless to the extreme. They rubbished the value of the naira, and all they can do is to give the excuse that the oil price is falling. As if this is the only time oil price will be falling. Someone please remind me of the price of a barrel of oil in year 2000. Even as at 2009 oil was still btw the range of 33$-60$. But trust Jona to always look for excuse for his inefficiencies. A change is needed, otherwise Nigeria will be worse off. GEJ administration has created a mess, and the masses are now standing on the side of the sensible and humane General to clear this mess. If I were you OP, i'll join the train. Merry xmas! |
Daguccizgreat:Why do you people keep saying Ondo state will vote GEJ?? he is detested in Ondo state! You all should get that into your thick skulls so that you wont get High BP when you hear the election result from Ondo State. |
tomakint:Apart from the trash you wrote up there, I can sense you are basing your expectations on Mimiko. Mimiko cannot win any election again in Ondo state and any candidate up for election trying to associate himself to Mimiko will be totally disappointed. You can find out from anybody resident in that state. GEJ will even have a better showing in lesser populated Ekiti than Ondo. You cannot be voted for 2nd term in Ondo state except you perform excellently. GEJ has not performed excellently, and I can assure you with a high level of certainty that he will lose Ondo state woefully. Mark this. |
tomakint:Bros i'm from Ondo state and I can assure u Buhari will win my state convincingly. |
Amen!
|
GANJAFARMER:When are u going to start making use of your grey matter?? Why do u keep saying he is been used?? He is standing for what he believes. He is standing for his integrity and principle. He refused to bow down and worship Jona and wife like an unprincipled slowpoke. They in turn used the federal might at their disposal to stampede him out of the party. He gave them a good fight and was able to ward off his impeachment, left the party for them, joined the opposition to continue giving it to them and u are here saying he is been used. As a man, at different times of your life you have to hold your ground against something. It is not everytime u chicken out of confrontation because the other party seems to be at advantage. You and your likes may not get it anyway, cos u seem a coward. Moreso, since u are an ethnic jingoists, u tend to analyse everything from a clannish ethnic perspective. Yes u are right, he'll need the people's support. But that is the beauty of standing out. He is saying he can still draw support from the people even though he is not doing follow follow to the president, which is good. That is the type of stance you teach the coming generation. Not inculcating a pusillanimous mindset in them, that everybody has to do follow follow to the person in power. And it is not compulsory u give him your personal support, but whether u like it or not, I can tell u that he indeed has some support. Stop abusing him and castigating his person. |
GANJAFARMER:Please shut up jor. Which silly mistake has he made. All u AGIP (Any Govt In Power) thinks everyone has the same skewed brain like u people. That so far, one is not with the party in power, that is the end of the person. What a daft reasoning. We have Northerners who support PDP with passion. We have SouthWesterners who support PDP with passion, why must it be that it is only Ameachi u decide to call a fool just because he refused to dance the macabre dance of Jona, his wife and their other Port Harcourt thugs and the PDP in general. It is this kind of your reasoning that is giving our polity issues. The thinking that so far one is in opposition, that is the end of the world. This is the kind of reasoning that gives room to the 'do or die' kind of politics. It is you that is trying to hide your true colour as a pathetic bigot, but your words has already portrayed you as such. |
ped007:Thank you. I will go back to INEC office. I have actually been there earlier. The security men tried to prevent me from gaining entry but I stood my ground. Afterwards, I waited for a long time for the person in charge to resume. I got tired after a while and went back to my office. Moreso, since I was not sure if I can use my temporary card to effect the transfer. |
ped007:Thank u for ur response. But pls can I use the temporary card to effect the transfer? I'm yet to collect my PVC. |
I just like this Amaechi guy. I admire people who can stand their ground against oppression, especially from those at a position of advantage. Lots of cowardly people beef this Amaechi guy. Just because the guy refused to be a sissy and follow follow to Jona and his wife. Must everyone from Southern Nigeria be an as5 licker to Jona?? Does everybody in the north support Buhari?? Just because this guy is standing his ground, lots of Nairaland dafties will be talking ill of him and abusing him. The funniest part of it is their cowardly rants that his political career has finished. Gullible people without a sense of history. |
ped007:Is transfer of Voter registration from one state to another still possible? |
There the story goes. NITEL was recently sold to Tunde Ayeni's NATCOM consortium for $252.25 million, approximately 47.3b naira. And he is appreciating Jona publicly by donating 2 billion naira for his reelection campaign. Only God knows how much he will use to appreciate him in secret. Selling Nitel to a private company is actually a good move. But the investor now coming out to be donating exorbitant amount to the president's reelection sets off a bad precedence. It actually seems like a bribe in disguise. |
Ayeni’s NATCOM to Acquire Moribund NITEL for $252.25m- THISDAY Newspaper 04 Dec 2014 By Adebiyi Adedapo At last, a telecommunications consortium NATCOM has emerged the preferred bidder for the moribund Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL) and its mobile arm, the Mobile Telecommunications (M-Tel), after offering to pay $252,251,000 under a guided liquidation process for both firms. During the financial bid process held on Wednesday in Abuja for NITEL/M-Tel by the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), the consortium had initially offered to acquire them for $221 million, but the offer was rejected by the Vice-Chairman of the Technical Committee of the National Council on Privatisation (NCP), Alhaji Haruna Sambo, for falling below the reserve price. NATCOM however won the bid when it eventually offered $252.25 million. NATCOM has as one of its main promoters, Mr. Tunde Ayeni, who only a year ago was the chief promoter of Integrated Energy Distribution and Marketing Company Limited, which acquired Ibadan and Yola Distribution Companies (Discos) under the power sector reform and privatisation process. Ayeni, who has interests in the oil and gas, power and banking sectors, is also the Chairman of Skye Bank Plc, which only recently acquired Mainstreet Bank (former Afribank) from the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON). Announcing NATCOM’s emergence as the preferred bidder, Sambo said: “I am happy to announce that the revised bid has met the reserve price.” Two bidders – NATCOM and NETTAG - had been prequalified by the BPE to participate in the liquidation process, but the latter was disqualified for failing to include a $10 million bid bond as stipulated in the Request for Proposals (RFP) prepared by the privatisation agency. Reading from the relevant section, Sambo explained that the RFP required that “each bidder shall furnish, as part of its proposal, a bid bond in the form of Bank Guarantee or a Letter of Credit in the sum of $10 million. The bid bond must be enclosed with the Technical Proposal. “The Bank Guarantee or Letter of Credit shall be from a reputable bank acceptable to BPE and the liquidator and be valid for 120 days from the deadline for submission of proposals. Provisions must be made for extension of the term of the bid bond if the validity period is extended.” He said following the disqualification of the NETTAG consortium as a result of its failure to submit a bid bond with its technical proposal, only the financial bid of NATCOM was prequalified for opening. NATCOM, he disclosed, had scored 92 per cent when its technical proposal was evaluated, which was above the minimum pass mark of 75 per cent, and had met the requirement for moving on to the financial bid stage with the submission of a valid bid bond. Sambo, who represented Mr. Atedo Peterside, Chairman of NCP’s Technical Committee, said as stipulated under the RFP, 30 per cent of bid price is to be made within 15 days of notification of the winning bid while the balance would be paid within 90 days. He recalled that as part of the reform of the Nigerian Telecommunications sector, a new National Telecommunications Policy was adopted in August 2000 and a new Nigerian Communications Act was passed into law in 2003. According to him, the new legal framework provided the basis upon which the process for privatising NITEL commenced in 2001, stating that since then, there had been four different unsuccessful attempts to privatise NITEL to private operators and one failed management contract. He said all the measures were aimed at repositioning the company to play a significant role in the Nigerian economy. Enumerating previous attempts that had gone belly up, Sambo said the first entailed the strategic core investor sale of 51 per cent of NITEL to Investors International London Limited (IILL) in 2001. Others included the failed management contract by Pentascope in 2003-4; the aborted Orascom Telecoms bid in 2005; the strategic core investor sale of 75 per cent through a negotiated sales strategy to Transcorp cancelled in 2009; and the strategic core investor sale in 2011 when New Generation Communications Limited and Omen International emerged as preferred and reserved bidders respectively. He said it was after a review of the chequered history of the privatisation of NITEL that the NCP at its meeting of February 27, 2012 approved the privatisation of NITEL through guided liquidation. The strategy, Sambo explained, was adopted by the council after due consideration of other options and in the light of the previous failed attempts to privatise NITEL through various attempts, as well as the companies’ huge liabilities to creditors of over N300 billion. Earlier, the Director General of BPE, Mr. Benjamin Dikki, said the NCP had faced numerous challenges including unpaid terminal benefits to ex-staff of NITEL, salary arrears of the retained staff and outsourced security personnel, and accumulated unpaid licence fees, among others to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). He added that with the active support of the federal government, BPE was able to overcome the challenges. In her remarks, the Minister of Communications Technology Mrs. Omobola Johnson, said the privatisation of the government-owned telecoms firm was the last segment in the well thought-out reform of the nation’s telecommunication sector, which commenced since 2000. She assured Nigerians that government would continue to review and fine-tune policies that would continue to provide an enabling environment for the growth and development of a private sector-driven Nigeria telecommunications industry. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/ayeni-s-natcom-to-acquire-moribund-nitel-for-252-25m/195773/ |
Purity1:Stop deceiving yourself. Buhari's support is not limited only to Nairaland. Go to facebook and see how the masses are canvassing votes for him passionately. Even people that were hitherto somewhat apolitical has been using him as BBM display pictures and sending broadcasts canvassing votes for him. . Now leaving social media, go to the streets (referring to the SW now as i'm resident there) and you'll get inundated with the Buhari phenomenon. A lot of People are facing hardtimes and are just tired of this directionless and corrupt govt of Dr Goodluck Jonathan. |
God bless the General. This man indeed has the genuine interest of the masses at heart. It's quite an interesting read. Wow, Buhari was a monitor, and also a prefect, infact, the Headboy. That's cool, it shows that this simple man has been subjected to leadership roles basically throughout his entire life. We sincerely need a change in Nigeria, and Buhari seems the right person to kickstart this change. This reign of impunity just has to stop. One thing I fail to understand is why there is so much hatred & bile against Buhari from some southerners. Imagine, his 2nd in command as GOC Jos, when they dealt Chad a lesson was even an Igbo man & he has contested with Igbo running mates twice; and once with a Yoruba man. The country needs a man of integrity like Buhari in this trying period. |
If it was Buhari a Northern governor shows support and declare that he will do everything possible to ensure he wins. Nairaland bigots will not allow us to rest. I can imagine the names they will call such a governor and those in his party. Names like the following will be used: Bigot, fanatic, Islamic militant, Born to rule, political thug etc So pls don't give it any ethnic/religious bigotry colouration when any other governor or individual come out to declare that they will do everything within their power to ensure Buhari wins. |
hizroyalflynes:So how does that concern me? Is Aregbesola and whether they like him or not the subject we are discussing?? |

Fact is Buhari can never win 15 States let alone 22
So Ondo and Ekiti will be won by Buhari?
