waternogetemeny:It's even stated on the story you cited that they may be going to Baga. Did u even read what u posted at all? I guess u just looked only at the headline. Chad armoured column heads for Cameroon to fight Boko HaramI hope u can see how irresponsible the international community sees our President. He ignored the enormosity of the happenings and killings going on in most parts of NE for political reasons. You can imagine the insult, it is now Chad parliament that is now mandating their army to go into Nigeria and recapture Baga as one of its objectives. Who knows their other objectives, maybe to parmaently take over Maiduguri. I'm sure our callous president will not mind that, if the end result is that it will deny GMB votes in the coming election. I hope u can see the quotes from Ghana that I highlighted and those of comments of US. Is our president talking in like manner?? Definitely no! He's just to slow and selfish. I hope u can also see part of your story I highlighted for you where the Cameroonian authorities clearly indicted the Nigerian govt by stating that they are passive with the Boko Haram fight. Jona may eventually be tried at the world court for crimes against humanity because of this his purposeful negligence of duty. |
EdCure:Lol. Failures tend to lie low in the scheme of things so that people will just forget them and they will thus escape criticisms but still hold on to their position. Sort of looks like Keshi's strategy as well. ![]() |
Ikpewe:You can say that again. Chad of all countries?! |
I seriously suspect Chad and Cameroon for this Boko haram wahala. This Boko Haram issue is actually an international issue which the FGN did not attend to decisively initially and even now in order to score political points. Now it has boomerang and will among other serious issues ultimately lead to the sacking of this present govt. Is this not the same Chad, that we have smacked their head into responsible behaviour in times past? Nigeria has the might to cut down this Boko haram demons and even deal with Chad. We urgently need to demand the FGN to provide answers to us why our army seems to be on systematic stand down. |
Article written by Dr. Peregrino Brimah That there is a vacuum in Nigeria’s leadership is not in dispute; however the recent declaration by the president of Chad, Idriss Deby compounds Nigeria’s delicate situation and threatens the nation’s sovereign integrity. As reported by the AFP in an article of January 17, 2015, captioned “Thousands see off Chadian troops to fight Boko Haram,” Idriss Deby the authoritarian leader of Chad, Nigeria’s north eastern neighbor, said “in a speech read by the speaker of parliament that the new deployment (of Chadian troops to Cameroon) is aimed to recapture Baga.” Cameroon had requested for and welcomed the deployment that saw 400 Chadian military vehicles arrive in Cameroon. [AFP] However Nigeria was not invited to the table. Nigeria’s military leadership as quoted by the AFP are “lukewarm.” The word is defined by Google dictionary thus: “(of a person, attitude, or action) unenthusiastic.” Nigeria’s military spokesperson, GEN Olukolade said as quoted by the AFP: “All support for our operations will be welcome, but it must conform with our own ongoing operations.” In as much as Baga at the border with Chad and another 14 to 20 local governments in Nigeria by all means needs various degrees of military liberation from Boko Haram’s control, a Chadian intervention without approval by the African union or explicit approval by Nigeria’s government, even though lacking and inebriated infringes on the laws of national sovereignty; and prompts further suspicion of the intentions of Nigeria’s neighbors who have reportedly been permissive and in some cases frankly supportive of Boko Haram [See CNN]. The Chadian government and the government of Niger pulled out their troops from the multi-national force stationed at Nigeria’s northeastern border late last year leading up to and enabling the Boko Haram massacre that resulted in 2500 to 3000 dead. The stationing of troops by Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and Niger by November 1 of 2014 was agreed upon by the four nations at the Paris summit in May of last year. Acknowledging a vacancy of leadership in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital of government; the new do-it-our-way, without Nigeria’s or any other openly known regional or global union’s explicit authorization challenges years-long developed modalities of territorial interrelation. Boko Haram terrorists are known to organize, train and source weapons from Chad, Niger and Cameroon. Nigeria has over the past years demanded these nations seal their borders and disallow terrorist’s assemblies on their soil. The McCain approach of total disregard to “some guy called Goodluck Jonathan,” disregards Nigerians as a whole and compounds an already highly suspicious situation and pits Nigerians to choose between Boko Haram (mostly) foreign terrorists’ invasion and foreign leaderships’ invasion. Nigerians in the affected territories swear that Chad president, Idriss Deby is a sponsor and financier of Boko Haram. A majority of Boko Haram insurgents are Chadians [SaharaReporters, Jan 14, 2015]. There is undeniably a serious problem here. In the course of Nigeria’s French neighbors partnering and protecting their interests, this cannot be done with permission of terror to Nigeria and at any risk to Nigeria’s territorial integrity. [See: “Serious Allegations of Cameroon, Chad Arming Boko Haram Is Act of Terror And War;” ENDS.ng Oct 14, 2014] In October last year, Nigeria’s president and the president of Chad jointly declared a very suspicious cessation of fire against Boko Haram [Which ENDS promptly rejected on behalf of Nigerians]. This leadership ‘blunder’ which world unions and lead groups were slow to recognize led to the strengthening of Boko Haram and the deaths of thousands more innocent Nigerians and Cameroonians. The world cannot continue to sit and watch these deadly conspiracies and administrative ‘errors.’ John Dramani Mahama, of Ghana, head of the regional Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS on Friday called for an African action against the Boko Haram regional threat. Absent a change of Nigeria’s incapacitated government, this is the right action, long overdue. On behalf of the people of Nigeria, we demand Nigeria, Chad and Cameroon sit down and negotiate the full modalities of any incursion by Chad and/or Cameroonian forces into Nigeria’s territory, and that the urgent agreements reached as sanctioned exigently by the African union. predentstats:Why don't u make use of your thinking faculty. He is not making his point to nairaland, he is telling the Nigerian people! Nairaland just happens to reference the news. You are definitely a kid or low in intellect for you to imagine that it was nairaland he was directly communicating to. Now the onus is on the person alleging to show evidence that what he is alleging is real and not just a sentimental outburst. I'm a stakeholder in Lagos and I'll want a factual evidence that indeed LASAA is being partisan before I can mete out criticism to them. |
This looks fake, just like the 'chai chai' there is God presentation of madam first lady ![]() Nothing wey we no go see for this GEJ'S era. He had taken governance to the lowest ebb possible. |
Archisola:Crap. Instead of spending so much energy, time and financial resources fighting the creative idea and project of some other group, why not look inwards on how you can benefit your own christian folks! Nobody is stopping all the rich pentecostal churches, Anglican, Catholic and the rest of them from coming together and floating a Christian bank, with the sole aim of offering interest free loans to hard working business oriented christians. Osinbajo is a thorough professional, and he is representing the Nigerian masses. I'm a christian, but I detest this crooked approach PDP is using to get emotional support. The irony of all these islamising story is that it is even under GEJ, a christian that Nigeria is gradually getting islamised! This is due to his inept handling of the country's security. Thousands of christians have fled the North and are still fleeing on a daily basis. Whole christian communities in the north has been slaughtered and ransacked without him taking any decisive action. And now that election is around the corner, he is releasing his paid agents to be using islamising to scare christians against voting for the opposition. He has failed woefully on that. My pastor has been consistently telling us in my church that change is needed in the central govt of Nigeria, and majority of the congregation will vote for change based on his leaning. |
This lie has been busted on several threads and you are still drumming it. Kai, PDP liars are so un relenting. That is not train! |
So Bensonn what's your likely prediction generally in the North Central for the two candidates in percentages? |
Sillly Admission of defeat by the Poverty Development Party (PDP). Soon you'll discover that it is not only on social media, even on the streets, in the market/offices, at newspaper stands all we hear is...feBUHARI! The month of the people's General. The masses is giving it to him this around, and there is nothing Olisa liar can do about it. |
Buhari will win the North Central and even claim additional states for the APC. Infact APC ia going to claim a lot of additional states in the coming election especially in the North. These governors are just deceiving themselves and Mr Jonathan. |
doctokwus:It is a possibility. The Rivers govt will release a press statement about that soon, I'm sure. |
Ameachi let them use the stadium jor. Dont be petty. All na still wash. They are not going anywhere. |
Majority of PDP supporters are hate-filled individuals. Before u discuss politics with them for few minutes, they will already be foaming in the mouth and wishing some people death. They will even be saying the country will divide than for the opposition to form the govt. Terrible set of people. And if you also observe them, they always tilt political discussions the tribal way. They find it so hard to stick to the PDP vs APC issue. Before you know it, they are already uttering balderdash about Christians vs Muslims, or about Northerners vs Southerners, etc. May God deliver this country from their sick mentality. |
PDP guys are liars and crooks per excellence! |
I knew GEJ goofed on that, even without doing my personal research. I know someone will do a valid research to blow away that silly comment he made out of emotion. Buhari till GEJ begins to think properly before making comments! |
He claimed there is evidence of partisanship, why didn’t he show us? |
It is getting obvious by the day that even in Bayelsa, Jona will not get as much votes as he got in the last election. |
Its her choice. As for me and my family WE ARE VOTING GMB!! |
oladayo042:You are not getting my point. If you are filling a form and you are asked your highest qualification. You can either write only the qualification OR you add the discipline with the qualification. e.g Highest qualification...................MSc Highest qualification...................MSc Social Studies Both answers are correct. Although, writing just MSc is more appropriate. On most forms, they usually still request for Qualifications received with dates If that is the case, here, definitely everyone will provide more detailed information like the discipline, the qualification awarded and the date it was given. You said there is a place in the form for discipline. You are wrong. Look at the form again pls. There is no place for discipline, it only asked for qualification. And you can provide the answer either ways as I explained above. |
Maybe that is the way the candidates filled it on their forms. I seriously doubt it if it is INEC that will write it out for them. There must have been a column for them to indicate their highest qualification. May INEC just did a verbatim copy of what they wrote there themselves. |
eyesofgod:Pls give us a dose of history. Which newspapers played such ignominious roles then? |
Mynd44:Wow, in a sensitive election period like this, Nairaland should be bothered about how true the stories they give publicity is! |
I created this thread so that INEC's rebuttal to the sensational story captured by Vanguard "41 DAYS TO PRESIDENTIAL POLL: MILLIONS IN SOUTH MAY NOT VOTE" can be read by a good number of people. This story published by Vanguard graced Nairaland front page and it will be in the interest of the country for INEC's rebuttal be equally given the exposure that the earlier story was given. Today, Vanguard published another story premised on the points presented in the earlier story. How The Elections Are Already Being Rigged - Vanguard https://www.nairaland.com/2094114/how-elections-already-being-rigged This story also graced Nairaland front page today 15th, January 2015 despite that the rebuttal written by INEC to the first story is yet to be given such exposure. Seun and all Nairaland mods, be aware that this is how election violence starts. Vanguard is playing a dirty role here by regularly writing stories that INEC is giving undue advantage to the North, but their submissions are in most times not well grounded. In order not to make this misconception to register on the minds of people, rebuttals to such stories are also to be given good publicity! I don't understand why Nairaland is not doing this. Seun, Obinoscopy, Lalasticlala, Ikenna351, Afam4eva, ilugunboy, jarus, maclatunji, Ngwakwe, OAM4J, Seun, Ishilove, Mynd44, Omenka, donphilopus, barcanista, Obiagelli Nairaland mods and Admin pls in the spirit of fair play kindly ensure INEC's rebuttal to this story also has the exposure and publicity that the Vanguard stories were given on Nairaland. Thanks. |
Iroh88:INEC has already written a rebutal to that earlier sensational and divisive report of Vanguard claiming more PVCs have been issued to Northerner than Southerners. I have created a thread of INEC rebuttal here on nairaland. https://www.nairaland.com/2092858/inec-replies-vanguard-deliberate-falsehood Despite that the earlier divisive and sensational story of Vanguard graced Nairaland front page, Nairaland admin, Seun and his Mods does not see the importance of INEC's rebuttal to that story also gracing the front page. Now this is how election violence starts. Vanguard is playing a dirty role here by regularly writing stories that INEC is giving undue advantage to the North, but their submissions are in most times false or not well grounded. In order not to make this misconception to register on the minds of people, rebuttals to such stories are also to be given good publicity! I don't understand why nairaland is not doing this. |
Vanguard used this story as their cover page story on the 4th of Jan, 2015: 41 DAYS TO PRESIDENTIAL POLL: MILLIONS IN SOUTH MAY NOT VOTE http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/01/41-days-presidential-poll-millions-south-may-not-vote/ INEC has come out now to refute the story and condemn it. Its so sad that Vanguard is playing a major role in emphasizing the fault lines of Nigeria as a country and using it to write sensational stories. Find INEC reply below http://www.inecnigeria.org/?inecnews=re-millions-in-the-south-may-not-vote RE: ‘MILLIONS IN THE SOUTH MAY NOT VOTE’ January 07th, 2015 The Editor-in-Chief, Vanguard Media Limited, Vanguard Avenue, Kirikiri Canal, Apapa, Lagos. Re: ‘Millions in the South may not vote’ I write on behalf of the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, to complain about the deliberate falsehood and misinformation contained in the Cover page story of Sunday Vanguard edition for January 4, 2015, titled as stated above. The story in question provided statistics about the collection rate of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) across 28 states, in a 36-states-plus-one (i.e., the Federal Capital Territory) federation; but proceeded to infer a conclusive regional design of higher collection rate in one section of the country than the other. Consequently, the story was deliberately mute on, or simply ignored the following: (i) That the document your writer apparently sourced his figures from (which the Commission voluntarily put in public domain since early December 2014) clearly indicated that distribution of PVCs continued at local government offices of INEC at the end of the three-day exercise at polling unit level. (ii) That differences in levels of turn-out by people for their PVCs is not the making of INEC, since the Commission has put in place the same procedure across the country guaranteeing equal access to persons wanting to collect their cards. Rather than concoct conspiracy theories about INEC, a desire for public good should have motivated your writer to encourage persons in areas where collection rate is relatively low to urgently go and pick their PVCs; and (iii) That 28 states out of 36 states plus the FCT is not a complete picture, contrary to the writer’s pretention that he was presenting a comprehensive national profile. As a matter of fact, in calculating the percentages, your writer not only understated the percentage for South-West, for instance, if you take the average of individual state percentages that he himself indicated, he also conveniently ignored the fact that distribution in Ekiti and Osun states that was done earlier in 2014 was not included. Really, nothing can surpass these in intellectual dishonesty and vocational mischief! It was expected that your reporter, if his motive were to sincerely inform the public, would have requested from INEC its official figures for the entire country on the subject of the story. The Commission has nothing to hide; so, kindly find attached the authentic data on the distribution of PVCs across the country to date. Note also, kindly, that these figures are far from being final for the 2015 general election, since PVC distribution by INEC continues until close to the elections. It is also observed that the story alleges all manners of ‘conspiracies’ in the operations of INEC, including an allegation that “District Heads (in the North) were allowed to collect PVCs on behalf of prospective voters.” Sir, nothing can be further from the truth. The deliberate falsehood intended by your reporter was underscored by the fact that the story only cited unnamed (certainly fictitious) sources as well as purported ‘investigation’ by the paper; while no identifiable spokesperson of the Commission was given a say – even if only for record purposes. Certainly, this does not show the basic ethic of balanced reporting that is expected in responsible journalism. Comments, as they say, are free but facts are sacred. It amounts to sheer malevolent journalism for one to cite cold statistics in making fabled claims. That is what your reporter has done and, with due respect, it really belittles your reputed newspaper stable and smacks of hatchet job for vested interests. Sir, we all have a stake in this country and should be keen to contribute to the success of the imminent general election. Your newspaper will account to history if it falsely fans the embers of ethnicity and sectionalism as could create needless tensions in the polity around the elections. Even then, the dictates of professional ethics require some modicum of scrupulousness in the dissemination of information for public consumption! Wishing you well and God’s guidance. GenOrumov:They purposely tricked you to discourage you. I did my own transfer two weeks ago without going to the state I earlier registered to collect the PVC. I did it with the temporary card. The guideline on INEC website stated that one should attach the temporary card to the application for transfer and not the PVC. At the Lagos INEC office, I observed that it was only those that were ready to argue with them and quote that part of the Electoral Act dealing with transfer that they were ready to attend to. Those that came and were informed that it has closed and left without any argument, and those that were sent to INEC local govt office in the area they want to transfer to were the people the lazy INEC officials used in reducing the nos of people they will attend to. They gave me so much stress, pushed me from the local govt I want to transfer to and INEC state office several times, but I remained resolute and succeeded in getting the transfer done. Infact, I sneaked out from work several days before I succeeded in getting the transfer done. I doubt if they will still be doing it sef. Cos that day I heard them talking to themselves that information coming from INEC head office in Abuja was that the platform they were using to effect the transfers will be shut down soon. I don't know how true it is, but one of the staff told me they were printing the PVCs in China and the volume of transfers they were doing, which they have to print PVCs for including those of the Continuous Voter's Registration were getting alarming and was giving Abuja INEC serious concerns hence, the need to shut down the transfer process before the due time according to the electoral law. Those INEC guys sef. I remembered the first day I went there, they tried to discourage me by telling me that the transfer process in the most recent electoral law they are using stipulates 60 days before the commencement of an election for one to do a transfer. I had to argue them out, that the electoral law actually stipulates 30 days and not 60days before they finally succumbed. Even at that, they still gave me so much stress. Infact they at first refused to give me the transfer form, they later gave me to go make copies and return the original to them. |
aresa:Pls put some pictures of Agbaje, especially that first one with the unsmilling AK47 rifle brandishing mopol with those of Ambode milling and laughing with the crowd. It will graphically show a man of the people, and another man being propped up by some authorities. |
BashirAhmad1:This is an interesting read, please provide the source. |
Uppercut reply to GEJ. Instead of him to personalise his failure, he wants to draw other people to his side. Only God knows when he'll stop this his habit of looking for excuses everytime. |
See me see Nigeria oh. Goodluck Jonathan that performed woefully in 5 yrs is pointing accusing fingers at some other person who spent approx 2 yrs and registered his achievements in the minds of millions. Majority of the people during Buhari's time are of the opinion assuming his administration spent some more time, they would have kicked off the Nigeria of our dreams. GEJ stop all this whining, your administration has spent 5 yrs and counting, and u have been unable to clear any rot in the system. Infact you added additional rot. Buhari's administration spent approx 2 yrs and just that two years have earned him millions of passionate supporters spanning a 30-year period. Jona pls use your brain, if u lose this coming election, after the next 30years do u in your wildest imagination think u can still have 1/10th of passionate supporters like that of Buhari?? The answer is simple. In Buhari's approx 2 yrs, despite all the things he did well and those he didn't, he was still able to register his performance in the minds of those of his generation who even passed this Buhari's record to the coming generation. In GEJ'S 5 yrs, he has brought mainly woes upon Nigeria. And that is the major thing he will be remembered for, for years to come, especially if he loses his 2nd term bid. |
