OBAGADAFFI:
Is the monthly statutory allocation a loan?

The monthly statutory allocation is a constitutional requirement.

Remember Tinubu (AD) vs OBJ(PDP) monthly allocation battle.
And the FG is explicitly stating that this is not the statutory allocation, but a budget support facility. The FG further stated that terms and conditions were set for u to benefit from this facility and a lot of other states that expressed interest in the budget support facility has complied with the terms except Fayose.

Fayose should stop gra gra and simply follow the laid down terms.

PoliticsRe: FG Denies Withholding Statutory Allocation To Ekiti by agabusta:
Fayose is forming star that we are practicing a Federal system and FG cannot be acting as a Big Brother. He is insisting he cannot open Ekiti state financials for them to scrutinise and ensure bailout funds are appropriately utilised. But he still wants to be collecting Big Brother benefits from the FG.

Its so simple, if you want additional financial assistance from the FG apart from your monthly allocation, you must abide by their terms.

And funny enough, these terms are not neck-breaking, its just to ensure transparency and also to ensure the released funds are tailored to the original purpose they were earmarked for.

I wonder why Fayose does not like transparency and following simple instructions. He thinks everything is by gra gra. Kemi Adeosun may be young and a political neophyte, but she doesn't take nonsense. You either follow the laid down terms, or go to other places to source for funds.

If Fayose thinks he can blackmail the FG, he must be a joker. The FG has consistently maintained they see him as comic relief. cheesy

...something to laugh over after a hard day's job grin

***
And Fayose sincerely is a greater dictator than the Buhari he lashes out at daily. Anybody close to him can attest to this. Fayose is a dictator that uses pseudo-populism to force his inclinations on other people.

BREAKING: Judge orders final forfeiture of N34 billion linked to Diezani Alison-Madueke

A federal court in Lagos has ordered the final forfeiture of N23.4 billion, N9.08 billion, and $5 million (about N34 billion in total) linked to former petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke.
Justice Muslim Hassan, who had issued an interim forfeiture order on the funds on January 6, on Thursday gave a “final forfeiture order” on the funds.
The judge said he was satisfied with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s argument that the monies were proceeds of illegal activity.

PoliticsRe: Siezure Of Ekiti State Federal Allocation: Fayose Press Statement by agabusta: 6:30pm On Feb 14, 2017
engineerboat:
[s]FULL TEXT OF THE PRESS CONFERENCE ADDRESSED BY EKITI STATE GOVERNOR, MR AYODELE FAYOSE TODAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2017, ON THE SEIZURE OF EKITI STATE FEDERAL ALLOCATION AND PLOT TO FREEZE BANK ACCOUNTS OF MAJOR CONTRACTORS IN THE STATE[/s]

[s]I called you here today to intimate you about the new plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) led federal government to cripple our state by rendering it impossible for the government to carry out its statutory financial obligations.

It is alarming that while we were almost concluding that the siege on Ekiti and its people by the APC government in Abuja, with full collaboration from leaders of the party in Ekiti State had stopped, we are now being confronted with yet another shenanigan by those who won’t mind to see Ekiti people die of hunger just to achieve their selfish political agenda ahead of the 2018 election.

The question is; if they have issues with Fayose politically, must they suffer the innocent government workers?

Two weeks ago, some top functionaries of the APC in Ekiti State met in Abuja where it was decided that renew efforts should be made to cripple the State. It was agreed that the federal government must be made to stop all intervention funds to Ekiti State while the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) should be used to cripple the finances of contractors handling government legacy projects.

The game plan is that the moment workers do not receive their salary, they will hate me and my party, the PDP and this they believe will translate to votes for them in 2018.

This new onslaught against Ekiti State and its people started with the stoppage of the State January allocation and statutory budget support fund.

While all states in Nigeria received their full allocation from the federation account last month, the budget support fund was not release to Ekiti State thereby making it impossible for the state to meet its financial obligations, most especially the payment of salaries.

Three weeks after Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting, they have refused to tell us why they denied Ekiti State of the statutory allocation, and our letter to the Minister of Finance was ignored.

In another drama, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is now harassing major contractors handling Ekiti State Government projects, with a view to making sure that the projects are abandoned just because of 2018 election.

Obviously, these APC leaders in Ekiti State and their collaborators in Abuja fear that the completion of our ongoing legacy projects like the Overhead Bridge, Oja Oba Market, High Court Complex, Governor Office, Roads construction, among others, will further endear our party, the PDP to the people who will be positively affected.

One wonders why the APC will desire that Ekiti people suffer just because of desperation for power.

To prevent these projects from being completed, we have it on good authority that accounts of contractors handling major projects are to be frozen, thus prevent completion of the projects in record time.

It is so sad that anyone in his or her right senses will want to prevent workers from being paid and projects from being completed just because of their desperation to wrestle power from me, having failed in all theor previous attempts.

Interestingly, this same EFCC that is always in a hurry to harass my government has refused to act on several petitions submitted to it on the wanton looting of the State treasury by the immediate past APC government of Dr Kayode Fayemi.

However, notwithstanding this new evil plot against the government and people of Ekiti State, I will remain undaunted, believing strongly that God will again overcome this evil-machination. Definitely, this too shall pass.

As much as I believe in the fight against corruption, it must not be political and it must be done within the ambit of the law. The EFCC must be prosecutor and not persecutor.

Governor Peter Ayodele Fayose
(Governor Ekiti State)[/s]
Trash. Fayose we are tired of your whining abeg. Its getting boring.
PoliticsRe: Foreign Reserves Rise To $30.5B As CBN Targets $40B Before Year End by agabusta: 8:00am On Feb 14, 2017
me69:
No point of having rising reserves if the Forex market lacks liquidity and the fundamental problem of efficient forex allocation is not addressed. When eventually the CBN start releasing Forex to people, the demand will be so huge that the reserves will again fall. Plus all these BDCs are just waiting for CBN to start selling at cheap rates so that they can change the nairas they bought at high rates from customers, when this happens it will be the biggest wealth transfer (pure money conversion, not based on production increase) ever seen in Nigeria. BDCs will be so rich that politicians will look like mere civil servants. And inflation will be soo high
When the reserves rises, it boost investor confidence and portfolio investors will return to the country in droves. Those dollar requests you mentioned may necessarily not be met by CBN but by other sources in the economy.

We first ran into problem shortly after the election when reserves dropped to dangerous levels and majority of portfolio investors pulled out their funds.

See dollars that my people are looking for but cannot find?

He had the audacity to do so because the principal and CinC, Ineffectual Buffoon, assured him that stealing is not corruption.

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, alerted Jonathan that about $20b accruable to NNPC cannot be traced, they kicked him out of CBN rather than investigate. Our world bank minister of finance was blinded by her double lense spectacles, that it took the CBN governor to do the mathematics and detect what was going on. The clueless president still refused to do anything until Sanusi leaked to the press, the letter written to the president many months earlier, which signalled the start of his problem with his boss Jonathan. Then Okonjo-Iweala then awoke to her duty and did her own mathematics and arrived at missing/undeclared $10b. Then they brought an audit firm to review NNPC's books, but NNPC and the cancer stricken minister Diezani never cooperated. The auditors could only manage to detect less that $1b un-accrued oil earnings, but not before stating that their investigations were restricted by NNPC and the Ministry of Petroleum.

Next we saw some of the dollars in PDP envelopes, Diezani also took her share to the banks and shared it between many bank MDs, even instructing not to lodge the money in any named account.

Yet the government was borrowing money (N470b) to pay salaries in February to April 2015.

Have you ever wondered why despite very high petrodollar earnings, Jonathan couldn't increase the foreing reserves, rather he depleted it from $47b to $30b in his 5yr regime?

Have you ever wondered why despite the claims that the economy was booming, the naira never gained a steady 10cent against the dollar, even before the oil crisis started?

The naira fluctuated around N165 to $1 despite economic growth of 4yrs, by the 5th year with oil crisis and reduced petrodollar, the naira started slumping till now.

Jonathan remains the boss every criminal mind would love to have. The same criminal minds who are easily irritated whenever they see or hear news of EFCC ressurecting from Jonathan's induced coma, and making headway in the fight against stealing is not corruption.

Criminal minds would rather have a boss who is busy in the laboratory, inventing the technology to fight glaring corruption.
No homo, I just wish to give you a hug for this apt comment. This says it all. It says it all.

seunmsg:

Since the original charges were filed, two courts in Great Britain have determined that the evidence presented by the U.S. was insufficient to warrant his extradition and that the charges were the product of a case of mistaken identity.

From the onset, Senator Kashamu has asserted the accusations against him are a case of mistaken identity, an assertion that has been supported by two British Courts, INTERPOL, and multiple Nigerian Court rulings.

We may not all like Kashamu because of his style of politics, but he deserves justice just like any other Nigerian. The British courts have looked at this case twice and came to the same conclusion that the Americans have no case and Kashamu won't get a fair hearing if extradited to the US. The interpol and several Courts in Nigeria also supported the decision of the British courts. So, if the neutral British refused to hand over Kashamu to the US, why are we Nigerians so eager to throw him under the bus? Politics?

We must learn to look at issues and take a pragmatic position always. What I see in your comment is just sentiments and emotions. Kashamu deserves justice and it is within his right to appeal any unfavourable judgement legally. There is no embarrassment in someone pursuing his case legally in court.
No Nigerian court has given him a clean bill. Oga get your facts right. He only got an injunction.

Untill civilians start hitting them back, this wont end. Where do you even start to beat up a handicapped person for heavens sake? All these illiterate IDP/civilian JTF recruits..
You can't hit them back with violence, they will then have a legal reason to perpetrate greater violence.

We must hit them back with superior intellect and emotional stability.

Emotional stability in the sense that we should not forget this case, but should keep it alive until sanctions are meted out to those morons.

The problem with Nigeria is that people seem not to understand that it is when we actively pursue common objectives that things can get better.

We have this warped mentality of a big brother somewhere, who is supposed to handle every problem our society.

When issues happen, we just start complaining and complaining that things are not getting done, and just leave it like that.

That is the weakness in this our society!

Why cant some fire-brand SAN offer the physically challenged man free legal service to pursue this case to the highest extent?

Cant the media continue to bring up this case regularly to ensure it doesn’t die out, without appropriate punishments issued the culprit.

Can't some of us here who has connection to powerful politicians and those in govt not speak out so that this case can be tackled from the top?

Can't a protest be carried out against these incessant police/military brutality?

These things are not happening because we as a people has failed. Not only those in power (big brother), that all of us like to blame for everything.

Countries that have good govts, it didn't just come, they evolved into a good govt by the steps taken by the citizenry.

I was so shocked that this cowardly assault happened in a market place, and everyone just went about their business as if it's no big deal.

People keep quiet because they are not the victims, that is how we'll continue to keep quiet until the system gets totally rotten.

In fact, civil defence guys that doesn't have any liver before, has also started assaulting people, and we are still keeping quiet. We are so cowardly in this country. Na only gra gra we get.

Whenever I confront these uniformed men in Lag, people will just be tapping and pulling me to keep shut. Sometimes, even the oppressed will be the one begging to just leave the issue. How long? How long my people are we going to remain docile and other people privileged to be in employment of where they bear arms continue to oppress the weak?

Let one illiterate rich Senator/Honourable/Minister/Chairman, go past that place now, with same camouflage cap, you will see those idiotic MPs laughing and even saluting him. But when it comes to the lowly in the society, that is when they will start flexing muscles.

What a cowardly set of people we are.

Fayose that has been flexing around with camouflage, ordinary verbal caution, they can't dare issue him. But if it's the lowly in the society or even a physically challenged man that can't defend himself, they will be forming Commando.

This Kashamu is an embarrassment to Nigeria.

I'm always vexed whenever it is stated during this his case that he is a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

This one he is now regularly using his position as a Senator to assert that they should leave him alone to concentrate on his public service job in Nigeria, it is obvious he fought his way to the senate just to use that as a further protection from his crime-ridden past.

NDLEA will do me a lot of good, if they can pursue thus case to vacate all the favourable judgements he got at the lower court, and then proceed to extradite him. Nobody should be above the law.

He should go to the US and clear his name. It is obvious he has something to hide, no wonder he is running from pillar to post.
