naijaGhandi:Just the same way PMB did not sack the service chiefs when he came on board, but later sent them packing. |
God bless Mr. President! Please rest well and come and resume work. Its only the ignorant that doesn't know that rest and holiday are as important as the work itself. |
IslamicRebel:What is the name of this particular University pls? |
This Sambisa is big oh. |
ghostdvirus:Hyundai heavy industries is a top player. |
Egbere TV has come again. Continue wailing Its so in tune with the nick name I just gave them. |
I already suspected the news was false. They have not even finished inviting serving Heads of State all over the world, na the ones wey dem boot out, dem go come invite. ![]() |
Naija and fake news. Deji Adeyanju better cool down. Fayose also has not even confirmed the validity of the news, he has also run to press with his watery mouth. |
This is good. I like the fact that a whole IG is being questioned. Let it sink into all of them that they are subject to the people. |

jossy26:Our safety laws are outdated and they are not even being enforced. There is a resemblance of safety management in the oil and gas sector in Nigeria basically because of the cost of negligence to that industry and also because most the big players are international companies, who operate in safety conscious countries and therefore carry over their practice to Nigeria. Even at that, the way they practice their safety in Nigeria is still a far cry from their safety practice in other safety conscious countries. Nigeria is not ready for Safety and care for the environment. In Nigeria, DPR is responsible for enforcement of HSE in the oil and gas industry. Other better developed countries of the world has over time stated that there is bound to be a conflict of interest if an energy department is also to be a regulator for the safety and environment aspects of their operations. They have therefore clearly separated the management of safety and environment from their energy department. The easiest and cheapest way to learn as per elders, is to learn from other people's experience and not from personal experience. Instead of Nigeria to follow this cheap option, we still want personal experience to teach us before we separate this conflict of interest. How can DPR be managing the environmental aspects of oil and gas operations where we have the Federal Ministry of Environment. The only place FMEnv comes in is in the EIA of big projects. |
Nice article anyways |
Pavore9:That is just it. Over the years, our creativity has been killed by the availability of cheap foreign alternatives. The current realization with the drop in oil dollars has just demonstrated it is not sustainable to keep living on foreign/imported items. As a matter of urgency and even National security, we must be able to produce the basics here. |
These guys are jokers. They should put money in their Research and Development and start producing the concentrate here in Nigeria. Some can even base their business solely on producing concentrate for other companies. There is no more cheap dollars, we must get our asses moving. The time imported packaged tomatoes has not yet flooded the markets, Nigerians did not die of lack of tomato paste. |
donogaga:What is to be done when the leadership seems uninterested?? Moreso since there is no visible law in place to curb laxity in safety nor any resemblance of regulatory enforcement. This is basically the bane of Safety management in Nigeria. Leadership commitment will never be achieved without the enforceable regulations or except where it has become obvious that laxity in safety is causing the company money. |
buchilino:It still does not mean. Ok, what you are telling me for example is that say at the Federal Level, the leadership of the senate can just decide to nominate any PDP member of their choice and insist he must be the PDP minority leader. Does it sound reasonable?? Also going to the state level, for example Lagos, I think PDP members of the Lagos Assembly should also be less than 10. Do you think it is right, for the APC leadership to just select one person among the PDP members and then insist the person must be the minority leader irrespective of the opinion of the PDP members themselves. Irrespective that the PDP caucus has already signified their intention to nominate another person as their leader. Is it right for the majority APC to insist they must be the one to choose a Leader for the PDP? |
NosaHenry:And you are still turning logic on its head. Why not tell me where in the entire country that this has happened before now, that it is an opposing party that chooses a leader for the other party just because they are in majority?? It is only in Rivers such desperate and uncouth politics always raises its ugly head. By your argument, you are already setting a dangerous precedence which will be used to distort democracy at the different parliaments. The position of Majority Leader and Minority Leader are the prerogatives for the caucus they are to lead. If this is made to stand, it will usher in a different regime, where the majority party in any parliament (either at state or federal level) chooses whoever they want as the minority Leader of the opposition party. |
hardywaltz:They will definitely cry to the high heavens if it was to be APC that does same. Their hypocrisy stinks to the extreme.
|
DONMAYOR19:Dry. How can a party choose a leader for another party? It is turning logic on its head. When things degenerate, it is the state that suffers. |
Politicians and their wahala everyday. They just seems to be aversed to things been done properly. |
ndcide:Yes VIPs. Green seems to be the conventional beret for mobile policemen and the black beret is for the normal black police uniform. |
ndcide:Special protection unit. Counter Terrorism Unit uses red beret. |
chie8:Please oh, someone talk to me. In that first picture, the VP looks like he is resting his hands on a rifle. |
God bless this amiable and erudite VP ![]() |
obailala:Thank you for the compliment. Indeed, there are gains for Nigeria from the endeavor. We definitely need more 'Dangotes' in this country. Thanks for the info, never knew Innoson has upped his game to that extent. That is highly commendable. |
They should just patch them along abeg. Before you know it, cries of witchhunting GEJ will pervade the political landscape. Although that is not to say we don't know the game played by the hawks in the PDP on the sale of those govt assets. We know the stories behind Tunde Ayeni of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company. The Ex Chairman of Skye Bank, who was disgraced out of office in 2016. Nitel now operating as NATCOM (NTEL) was sold to same man. We also remember that it is same man that publicly donated a whopping 2b to GEJ's campaign funds. Only God knows how much he donated privately. Now that he has been booted out of Skye bank, and PDP is no longer in power, it is obvious that those companies will continue to falter. We are also not oblivious of the stories behind Yola Electricity Distribution Company. It must be noted however that some of these DISCOs have improved on the business in some areas. They have modernized the business, deplored ICT technology and improved on customer service. The major place people are not impressed with them at all is on the installation of pre-paid meters and in their power supply. |
ifyalways:Are u sure you can read? It is a fresh construction and the project started from 2009. |
Smart guy. This Dangote is very smart. He knows there is zero duty on completely knocked down units of vehicles while brand new vehicles carries a 70% duty. He has done his calculation as regards the number of trucks he will be needing for his businesses, say in the next 5 years, and the cost of importing these trucks and paying a whooping 70 percent duty per truck to the govt. And has come to the realisation that it may actually be cheaper to invest in an assembly plant, where you are allowed by the govt to bring in completely knocked units and not pay a dime on duty. In addition, there is money to be made in the endeavour apart from the cost saving it will represent to the Dangote group. All he needs is a willing foreign partner with the technical capacity, who equally needs a local partner with deep pockets and wide connection across the breadth of the country. There goes this seamless partnership between the Chinese and Dangote. The Chinese are ever eager to invade the length and breadth of the Nigerian economy. Although there are benefits to be derived by Nigeria from this: direct employment, tax, VAT on sold trucks and also lots of indirect employment, but from my opinion, after the country has gotten a good number of assembly plants up and running, they should make the conditions for bringing in completely knocked down vehicle units more stringent. They should mandate the vehicle assembly plants to imbibe a robust local content in their business. With a view to manufacturing vehicles fully within the country in the nearest future. |
