MikeZA: I Under project acrobat the SANDF acquired long range 60mm Denel M6 mortars with a range of more than 6km.

Before the world cup in 2010 marksmen rifles were bought. Used by the sharp shooter in the unit.

What we did back then is new to Nigeria.

Nigeria tops world terror attack fatality list

Nigeria has surpassed Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Somalia as the world's deadliest country when it comes to terrorist attack fatalities after recording 3 477 deaths in 146 attacks over the last year, according to British risk consultancy firm Maplecroft.

According to the report entitled "Maplecroft's Terrorism and Security Dashboard (MTSD)", incidents of terror attacks in Nigeria have increased since the government declared a state of emergency and launched a military offensive against the Islamist group Boko Haram in three northern states (Kano, Borno and Adamawa) in June last year.

Nigeria topped the world with 3 477 deaths from 146 terror attacks, which translates to an average fatality rate of 24 deaths per attack. The report noted that the spiral of terrorist attacks in Nigeria puts its growing economy at risk of stagnation.

World's best army....Israeli army loses 53 soldiers killed by rag tag Islamic insurgents in 3 weeks.....

Yestersday alone, 10 Israeli soldiers were killed by Hamaz insurgents.....

Israeli world's best air force was there, Israeli great Makerva MBT were there, Israeli artillery was there....

Hamaz terrorist dig tunnel into Israel, break through Israeli super defences and enter Israeli towns...

Israeli great drones/UAVs fails to find Hamaz rocket bases as another barrage of dozens of Islamist's rockets fire into Israel...

World power air force of Israel cannot explain why it can't locate Hamaz rocket bases for the past 10 years as many Israeli civilians die every year.

Israeli soldiers are even getting captured alive by rag tag terrorists.

Israel has the best army and air force in the world in terms of skill and battle history of victories.

However, we are in support of Israel and do sincerely sympathize with them, we wish you victory o Israel...Amen !

While we sympathize with the Israelis, we also discover that Nigerian army and air force have performed as good as Israeli military despite having far less equipment compared to the Israelis.

As for South African army, navy, and air force....they have not fought any real war in the past 20 years....all we see are training photos at home without any enemy to fight with.....all we hear are past glories of 30 years ago controversial propaganda ridden wars.

Today 2014, Nigerian military is appointed to lead ALL OF AFRICA'S MILITARY FORCES into battles from 2015 under the African Union, the AU did not even act as if there is any army in South Africa, they know what SANDF is means....fighting war inside photographs on homeland soil...facing a 'zero' imaginary enemy that does not really exist.

AU has confirmed who has the strongest four militaries in Africa...and who is best qualified to lead ALL AFRICA into war zone... NIGERIA

brownlord: I'm I the only one thinking the reason the corrupt COAS PEOPLE has decided to silent Sirusblack, is because of the 40 helicopters and other weapons they said to be acquiring soon and money budgeted to persecute this war, and with the contributions of experienced people on the thread who seem to know much about weapons and cost, and the COAS PEOPLE are trying to silent every means of them been exposed when they finally pull the trigger as in embezzle our money, without procuring any weapon. If the weapon is purchased or not, sirusblack and others in the house will be aware and inform us, or should they try to inflate we also know, and they are afraid so decided to block all loopholes to enable them execute their plan.
You are not the only one bros, na de same thing I dey tink since yesterday o ! All the weapons analysis and cost prices people are quoting here will prevent those in purchasing department/procurement units of Nigerian military and ministry of defence from deceiving the president and diverting the excess money into private pockets while young patriotic soldiers are busy dying like flies from Boko Haram bullets and bombs.

So where a logistics base is placed determines how good an army is?

Fool
How is soldiers' combat base a logistics base? Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Egypt, are NOT in the logistics centre point of their regions. The ranking is based on military combat current experience, records of success in past wars, leadership skills, fighting spirit and courage, as well as professionalism... that is why South African military failed to make the list of African Union's best four armies 2014.

2. Abuja Nigeria
3. Addis Ababa Ethiopia
4. Harare Zimbabwe

The AU has silently but visibly ranked the best four armies in Africa, based on all aspects combined...weapons, equipment, number of soldiers, professionalism, reliability, war experience, and records of achievements in battle.

South Africa failed to meet the above combined technical requirements, Zimbabwe was ranked as superior.

There have been betrayals of Nigerian soldiers by some Nigerian civilians in towns and villages where NA posted our troops to protect the people, the same people plan with Boko Haram to trap, ambush and kill our boys, this is from a newspaper report. However, names of such villages and towns were not mentioned. There have been several newspaper reports of civilians cheering and praising Boko Haram when they drive though on their streets to attack Nigerian army and air force men or locations.

These people see Boko Haram as 'saviours' from the hands of a christian President named Jonathan whom they don't like as ruler, because he is a christian. It is unfortunate that many northerners feel this way, what percentage of them, I cannot say, even though I am mixed blood half northerner half southerner by birth, it's hard to say how many northerners are happy about this war, only God sees the heart of man and the heart of man is desperately wicked according to my religion.

QUOTE, NEWS REPORT EXTRACT :

"Let me tell you that some communities are peculiar in the war on terror as some of their residents supported Boko Haram in the ambush and attacks on our troops. In the past, they gathered at a square to cheer the insurgents whenever a military personnel was captured and was being murdered. Young ones in the town even play with severed heads of victims.

That was why some soldiers were reluctant to lay down their lives in some communities where innocent troops who were out to protect them were being misled for ambush. The situation is changing now as community leaders and youths are supporting the military offensives."

Dude, what world do you live in?
I live in a world of superior thinking above your low level.....

Nigerian loan is NOT bank loan like that of South Africa.

Nigerian weapons loan is Government To Government Direct Line Of Credit strictly for weapons only, not cash loans that can be stolen like what happened in South Africa when Thabo Mbeki and ANC politicians introduced South Africa into the world of African corruption in grand style by looting Soweto's pocket in collaboration with corrupt Swedish and German weapon exporters. grin grin

chris365: for the ignorant south African fools who foolishly deceive themselves that more than half of Nigerian population is poor or live on less than one dollar a day. here's another slap to your dirty ignorant facesegrin.

Only a Third of Nigerians are Poor, Says World Bank

Going by the statistics released to journalists yesterday
in Abuja by the World Bank, only 55.9 million Nigerians
(about 33.1 per cent of the country's population put at
169 million) are living below the acceptable poverty
level, a significant improvement from the figure
released last February by the Nigerian Bureau of
Statistics (NBS) which put the poverty level at 112.519
million (62.6 per cent). The World Bank also predicted a
7.4 per cent growth rate in the country's Gross
Domestic Product (GDP).

The World Bank attributed the improvement in the
poverty statistics to the positive economic trend as
well as significant progress made towards poverty
eradication in the country by the government. The
poverty figure by the World Bank was drawn from its
2012/2013 poverty estimates while the one by the NBS
was from the 2009/2010 estimates.

Henry120: The SA National Defence Force (SANDF) is facing a "catastrophic" multi-billion-Rand financial crisis that could force mass retrenchments and the indefinite postponement of the acquisition of essential equipment.

Johannesburg daily The Times reported defence secretary Sam Gulube as saying a R1.1 billion budget shortfall could compel the SANDF into large-scale retrenchments and compulsory early retirement in order to survive and pay salaries.

The budget shortfall also meant the SANDF would have to cut operations and acquisitions.

Gulube was speaking after briefing Parliament's defence portfolio committee.

The defence force's descent into crisis was slammed by the SA National Defence Union (Sandu) and a defence analyst said the proposed cost-saving measures would degrade the SANDF - already "catatonic" - even more.Gulube said the Department of Defence was unable to fill 4 000 posts because of insufficient funding.

Various options were being considered, he said, including cutting employees and extending working hours between now and March 2015.
LOLZ grin....they are talking about Nigeria, LOLZ grin

In june, $1 Billion cash from government pocket was given to Nigerian military for new equipment and upgrades.

Same June, China gave $0.5 Billion credit line to Nigerian military for new weapons

Now July, President Jonathan adds $ 1 Billion new loan to buy military equipment after Nigerian army audit of all armoury weapons and equipment started.....likely this loan is majorly for army.

The president said more billions of dollars are coming for new weapons, we are not all borrowing, we also spend from current government purse.

Also we spend from normal annual budget...6 units brand new night-combat Mi-35M Hind E helicopter gunships have started arriving, Super Tucanos combat aircraft arriving, JF-17 Thunder 4th Generation jets coming soon, Big Foot giant MRAP has arriving, High Speed Spartan MK III APC arriving, new anti-tank recoilles guns and Sniper rifles arriving...all before any loan...spending from inside home pocket...big fat oil dollar pocket.

South Africa went full 'body & soul' into bank loans for jets, submarines, warships....and maybe even soldiers salaries...who knows ? LOLZ grin
