They get medals because they didnt run

What we did in Bangui you can only dream of
Abandoned base, uniforms, equipment, vehicles, headed in the opposite direction of Seleka forces, Usain Bolted to the airport, jumped into next available flight to South Africa, sleeping at home with wives for the past ~ 3 years..... That is a classic encyclopedia definition of RUNNING AWAY NEVER TO RETURN.

Soldiers ran away, finish and klaar. That's why BH managed to burn down the base because it was left in mercy of insurgents.

YOUR SOLDIERS RAN AWAY YES. THEIR RUNNING AWAY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH REINFORCEMENTS.
What base? In a remote undeveloped village, what base or buildings is available to burn down, ramshackle local compounds of mud houses with dry leaves for roofing, they call a base. Lol.

Lol.....Nigerian army is in control over of the town, Boko Haram that launched the attack retreated under Nigerian defensive firepower, so the Bokos who put their vehicles into reverse gear and abandoned mission did not run away, they were advancing into battle and the vehicle in every reverse gear were advancing into battle by driving backwards... Lol....your soweto brain works in reverse gear like the fleeing Boko Haramites. grin

~ 15,000 Boko Haram fighters killed, dozens of armoured vehicles destroyed, hundreds of Toyota cannon mounted trucks destroyed, all infiltrated 45 towns recaptured in 45 days, every Islamic caliphate destroyed, hundreds of IED or land mines deactivated, Sambisa and four other forests cleared, no more caliphate existing...... a failure?

Was this before or after the soldiers ran away?

We see the story is no longer "false".

Your soldiers are back to their old habits of taking to their heels.
What's false about the story is the running away. How does a journalist 1,000 km away from the battlefield judge a team of soldiers as having run away when she is also reporting that the same soldiers came back with reinforcements to defeat the Boko fighers? Obviously the soldiers did not leave the fight or if they did, it was to bring reinforcements and more ammunition. Simple common sense.

It does not require much intelligence to pick holes in that self contradictory news report.

Bottom line is....Nigerian soldiers won the battle and rule the town, any other comment is a waste of time by people who were not on the battlefield....people like you mumu.

Boko Haram strikes again in Adamawa, burns down military artillery

Rampaging Boko Haram militants on Sunday night engaged Nigerian troops in a fierce battle in their new bid to take over Gulak, the administrative headquarters of Madagali in northern part of Adamawa State.
Security and local sources say the insurgents, who came in three vehicles brandishing guns, burnt down a military base as they also burnt down three artilleries and carted away guns.
“They came around 7 p.m. and started firing on the soldiers during which all the soldiers ran away.
“There was pandemonium, people scampered for their lives, many slept in bushes, they killed one soldier during the fierce battle.
“Our local vigilantes had tried by staying back, until another troops were deployed from Madagali town and Shuwa, they engaged them, if not they would have recaptured the town for the second time,” said James Ularamu, former chairman of Madagali.
The former Council chairman, and a local vigilante who did not want to be named, said there were heavy gun battles.
The local vigilante, who couldn’t say whether there were casualties from the Boko Haram side, said “after we chased them away they fled to the nearby Sambisa area.”
Efforts to get the army spokesperson were futile, but a member representing the area at the house of Representatives, Adamu Kamale, confirmed the attack.
He, however said he did not have “much details for now”.
The state commissioner of information, Ahmed Sajo, said additional troops had been deployed to the area.
Your own first report from AP news says clearly :

"The civilian fighters held Gulak town after soldiers ran away Sunday night until the military sent reinforcements who fought off the extremists, former council chairman James Ularamu told The Associated Press."

So it was Nigerian military who eventually fought off the Bokos, and we control the town .

Shame, if only SANDF had not been so stupiid, all those AK-47 rifles would not have been smuggled into their homeland under your leaking nose.

Yes operation Corona is an SANDF MILITARY OPERATION and your useless army is failing at home with a very small type of threat that can be defeated by even ordinary Nigerian mobile police force.

BOKO HARAM DESTROYS NIGERIAN MILITARY BASE

By IBRAHIM ADULAZIZ and MICHELLE FAUL, Associated Press

YOLA, Nigeria (AP) — Boko Haram destroyed a Nigerian military base as soldiers fled and only self-defense fighters prevented the insurgents from retaking a northeastern town, residents said Monday.

The civilian fighters held Gulak town after soldiers ran away Sunday night until the military sent reinforcements who fought off the extremists, former council chairman James Ularamu told The Associated Press.

The military base was burned down, said Ularamu.

Sunday night's attack came as a military intelligence officer confirmed that 107 soldiers remain missing nearly two weeks after a Nov. 19 battle. The attackers drove off with an army T-72 tank and dozens of new camouflage uniforms, according to the officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak on the issue.

Nigeria's military has denied dozens of soldiers are missing.

Premium Times newspaper first reported the soldiers from the 157 Battalion, including their commanding officer, were missing in action along with the tank, three artillery guns and eight trucks including one carrying 60,000 rounds of ammunition.

The military has reported that it destroyed dozens of Boko Haram camps and freed more than 1,000 kidnap victims in recent weeks. But Boko Haram has stepped up the tempo and range of its attacks, with raids and suicide bombings in the past week in Niger, Cameroon and northern Nigeria.

Early Sunday the extremists kidnapped dozens of girls and set ablaze hundreds of buildings in Bam in Borno state, said resident Mallam Ali.

The setbacks come as Nigeria's government admitted it cannot crush by December the 6-year uprising that has killed some 20,000 people.

Faul reported from Lagos, Nigeria.

This story has been corrected to show that the battle in which dozens of soldiers went missing took place 11 days ago on Nov. 19 and not five days ago.

Thats why we plan Augustine, If we know there will be large bodies of water, we will deploy extra Bridge layers that are carried on Samil Trucks, they can go anywhere that the rest of our vehicles go. As i said before its not like lake Victoria is going to pop up out of nowhere.

Dude we never had to build a bridge in the DRC, why would we send bridge layers when they are not necessary. If our mission requirements dictate that we need to build a bridge, then we will deploy bridge layers, as simple as that.

We dont have an amphibious assault ship, so how are we going to deploy amphibious vehicles in the first place?? Nigeria only has 1 LSV which can carry only 10 BTRs not much to boast about!

Why would we beg our HQ for supplies?? thats why you plan beforehand, we would have the necessary amount of Samil Bridge layers before we leave on our mission, there will be no need to beg anyone for extra supplies.

Ok so how are you in a different boat, if you needed to cross and the enemy is coming from behind, are you going to leave the rest of your non amphibious vehicles behind and try to escape using your amphibious vehicles sailing at 7km/h?? And if your enemy is on the other side waiting with Olifant Mk2s and Mk1bs are you going to engage them with your Cobra and Sagaie??

The only place were amphibious vehicles make a difference is during beach landings, but for any invasion by sea one needs air-support thus the invading force would need an Aircraft carrier, which no African country has!!

So now you are a trained battlefield simulator?? impressive, ive never met an Accountant/Military researcher/ battlefield simulator before!!
You live in America? Where will you meet one American military researcher, Soweto townships?

Did SANDF plan for Seleka attack before it happened suddenly? Your enemy will write you letters informing you of scheduled date and time of his coming to attack yõu in a war? Are you crazy or just a born dundee?

How did your Olifant tanks cross the river to wait for us on the other side, you have no amphibious vehicles and you need almost a whole day to build a bridge across.

Nigerian army Sagaie is an amphibious river swimming TANK DESTROYER, it fires. HEAT shells and SABOT anti-tank shells.

Also, Nigerian army has amphibious MT-LB armouredtransport vehicles so we can carry our Swingfire anti-tank missiles along to kill SANDF Olifant tanks easily.

Next Nigerian army can snorkel our T-72 tanks across the river to wipe out your army tanks.

We have a well balanced Nigerian army with a good mixture of different types of weapons and vehicles to do ANY TYPE OF COMBAT OPERSTIONS that South African army CANNOT do due to your lack of some battle field essentials. SANDF us inferior overall

Acording to your own link it is 100. 60rpm is on the 3 shot burst. Aka 3 shots in rapid procession followed by pausess then 3 more.

Again neither one is a 30x173mm gun. The 30x173 is a slower firing gun but is far more accurate and powerful. The badger could sit 4000m away and fire accurate bursts destroying targets that will be firring all over. The odd shot that hits would just bounc off. The defence review even calls for this. Saying the mechnized force should engage any invader from maxim range.
Enemy IFV too have 4 km range on their 30mm cannon, so they hit you hack !

Ancient 1970s SANDF obsolete battle field tactics, I wish you were here two weeks ago when we say your army arrayed in battle like Rugby players on the football field with official lines drawn to separate them from the enemy.... Go read the comments on AMANI exercise on the other African military photo thread, but don't comment there , this is the thread for arguments.

No wonder SANDF uses that obsolete tactics, your army has been ordered by ministry of defence to always stay 4 km away from the enemy..... South Africans are cowards.....chicken soldiers afraid of death.

Fools of Pretoria, so your ministry for defence determine s how far away the enemy must stay away from SANDF in battle? Was Selena rebel force 4 km or 4,000 m away from you when they killed your soldiers with AK-47 rifle that had less 0.3 km or 300 m effective range? Olodo.

You have yet to show the need for them.

Did USMC do a landing on a beach held by the enemy, not some exersizes firing blanks. A battry of 12.7s will wreck your day and sink your entire force. And my point was the distance and speed. The USMC have far faster landing craft and can have air support. Somthing you dont have. A few now slow targets plodding along to a beach with no support.
SANDF has no bridge in Congo DRC.

Sea to shore ship to land artillery bombardment is done before amphibious landing IF coast is defended, many coasts are undefended too.

My God you a idiot.

The battlion carries a bridge if it needs one.

Have they ever needed to cross a unbridged river? Incorrect 1 company of army engineers is DRC this is in addition to the infantry battalions engineers.

You going to send your lightly armored and now slow Amphibious vehicles to a well guarded beach from 5km out? Thats suicide have fun with that.

Why would you wait days. Called planning and reading a map.

And because we did not cross the river in front of the tanks and brought heavy equipment across we can handel them. Unlike the guy ploding along with zero cover accross the river or when he gets across is in vehicles so lightly armored a ww2 infantry battalion could stop them.
Your army always operates in battalion size? Platoons/Company carry huge bridges around on top of their MRAP? All your battalions always carry bridges around ? We have not seen one bridge following your MRAPs around in AU or UN operations.

SANDF engineers in Congo DRC, are they bridge construction engineers? Engineering corps include motor engine repair mechanics you dunce.

Show us proof of SANDF bridge construction equipment in Congo DRC.

Approx 8km to 17 km water crossing speed, not 5km. How is it suicide? Canadian army amphibious armoured vehicles were the first to break through and capture heavy German beach defences of bunkers and anti-tank guns in Normandy invasion 1944 on Juno beach.

I just showed you American marines doing it last year 2014, you a navy cook thinks they are sailing into suicide just because SANDF does not have any amphibious armoured vehicle, then those who have it are committing suicide to justify your own army not having such capability. Now you have a bigger brain than the whole US Marine corps generals? Olodo.

"It’s really important for us as an amphibious unit to work well with the Navy,” said Staff Sgt. Jesse Ullman, section leader with 2nd AA Bn, and a native of Dallas, Texas. “Amphibious operations were less of a focus due to the type of war we’ve been fighting (in Iraq and Afghanistan). Today is about getting Marines back to the basics, back to our roots.”

As the U.S. military draws down its forces in the Middle East, the Marine Corps is refocusing on the Pacific and returning to its amphibious origins. Training events like this are not common, making the experience invaluable to the Marines."

Dude you guys sit with the same problem then! As i said before are you going to cross lake Victoria with only your Sagai and a few apc to face an enemy with Tanks? Not to mention that you are sailing at walking pace!!

Also we barely need any building material to build a bridge, thats why we have pontoon bridge layers and pontoon boats. And any Lake thats to big to build a bridge over is definitely to big to cross by sailing over it with an amphibious vehicle going only 7km/h, it would be much more effective to just drive around.

Militaries also prepare before going on a mission if you did not know, Its not like the SANDF will be driving around and all of a sudden Lake Victoria pops up and every body just stands there with their dick in their hand. Trust me most militaries know the terrain they are going to face, and thus deploy equipment accordingly.

Pics and Video of Pontoon Bridges and Boats:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPQUqTWUpQw
Does your army carry bridges everywhere they go on the battle space like it's a backpack portable bridge? You carry bridges on your MRAPs?

I have never seen a photo of SANDF armoured vehicles in Congo or Sudan followed by loads and loads of trucks carrying bridges, your army did not even deploy bridge construction materials and engineers in Congo DRC, you deployed infantry only.

You want the enemy to wait for you to order aircraft lifting bridge building materials from Pretoria to arrive in 3 days? The enemy has already gained tactical battlefield advantage over you and crossed river Congo while SANDF is killed in their stranded and trapped position.

Also can you build bridges across the Atlantic ocean for amphibious landing when your ships are anchored 5 km away from sea shore to avoid enemy mortar and artillery fire? You ever see an army build pontoon bridge that long on an ocean?

My question is how come you crossed the river to the other side with tanks while you were spending and wasting days and days requesting your army HQ to send trucks and trucks and trucks loaded with heavy pieces of bridge construction equipment to be transported over long distance on off road rough terrain while your main army of armoured non-amphibious vehicles remain stranded and trapped at the river side unable to cross, while the enemy pursuing you from behind has caught up with you and demolished SANDF to be buried by Nigerian army at the lake side?

You say how come we are behind you on that side of the river? Okey then we are the ones on the other side of the river waiting for you with T-72 tanks armed with ERA armour and 125mm killer main gun !

Dunce, your foolish argument is claiming that your army is on the two sides of the river, you are building bridge to cross on the left river bank, yet you claim you are on the opposite side on the right river bank waiting with tanks.....fool, only you spread all over the battle space like termites? Where is the enemy position then ?

Stop wasting my time, South Africa has A BIG TACTICAL DEFICIENCY with no amphibious armoured vehicles, stop twisting military doctrinal and tactical facts, I am a trained battlefield simulator, stop arguing blindly with me. Accept free education from Nigeria and learn .

Only the fools of South Africa will build a tactical combat bridge across a huge ocean....nation of fools, no wonder your economy is crumbling.

If the enemy is not coming from behind you, then he is on the other side of the river, so he is waiting for you with his tanks, you are the one who now needs to cross a wide lake Victoria with pontoon bridges and not all pontoons can hold a heavy tank to cross.

Do you know how much heavy material in large numbers is needed to be transported from your HQ base to a far away river? You think is like loading one truck with oranges?
