Boko Haram has seized control of a Nigerian town after hundreds of soldiers stationed there reportedly fled across the border to Cameroon, a police source said.

Almost 500 Nigerian soldiers fled the Nigerian border towns of Ashigashyia and Kerawa over the weekend to take refuge from Boko Haram fighters on Cameroonian territory.
http://www.aljazeera.com/news/africa/2014/08/boko-haram-seizes-town-after-soldiers-flee-2014826181311739107.html

An eyewitness to the Boko Haram massacre in Baga says he saw Nigerian army forces and security officers run away from the town and give their guns to civilians in exchange for civilian clothes.
http://www.thedailyvox.co.za/nigerian-army-abandoned-civilians-at-baga-says-eyewitness/

Nigerian army considers cowardice to be part of the way they operate:

Following the incessant attacks by the dreaded Boko Haram sect, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.- Gen. Kenneth Minimah, has revealed that some soldiers have abandoned the force due to the fear of the terrorists group Boko Haram.

“Sometimes, journalists ask me questions, saying soldiers are deserting their jobs because they don’t want to be killed in the North East. I tell them yes, it is true. Desertion is part of war”.

http://www.naij.com/70115.html

The soldiers complained about the inadequacy of weaponry and other equipment to confront Boko Haram fighters. Several soldiers revealed that many soldiers deserted their camps after handing over their weapons at the army headquarters in Michika, Adamawa State earlier today. At least 100 soldiers reportedly left through Shua-Mubi Road wearing civilian clothing.

I guess that was a high intensity conventional war that involved two countries, not some poorly armed rebels chasing fully fledged government troops out of their own country of birth. Egypt and Israel are not praising Nigerian military, they both all facing the same problem, that's all. They both know that they have armies bigger and more capable that cowards found in west Africa called Nigerian army.
War is war.

Britain and France are world powers, they are two powers that lost to one power.

Why did Russia not lose to same Germany the way 3 million British and French troops ran away and abandoned the whole nation ?

Great Britain and France were world rulers at that time with colonial empire spanning from Africa to Asia, yet they lost France to Germany in few months of Combat.

War is war, France lost it's entire country fighting at home.

If Nigeria is to be blamed for 'losing' 2% of it's land for 6 months, France should be crucified for losing their whole nation for 4 years even with British help in battle

Confirmed accounts of acts of cowardice showcased by soldiers we are told are the best in Africa. No where else in the world would you ever find such exclusive details of acts of cowardice of the highest order. Such a record is only, solely and proudly held by Nigerian military in high esteem and they deserve the award for it. Well done Nigerian military for rubbishing the military career to the downtrodden. Now people
despise the idea of becoming soldiers to protect their countries.

3 million British and French troops abandoned the whole nation of France in battle and ran away by sea in 1940, they lost the whole nation of France in battle to Germany.

Same British and French troops came back 4 years later in 1944 to fight again and won back the whole of France by defeating Germany.

That is what Nigerian army has done with the 2% of our land 'lost' to Boko Haram, we came back to fight and capture everything back 6 months later and we wiped out the Bokos in 45 days world record of combat.

Israel and Egypt is praising the Nigerian army today, but who is praising South African army ? Nobody grin grin

Agaugust, peace keeping force is not a combat force. The number of the weapons they are carrying is decided on by someone. It is only makes sense to surrender to government troops when you have only a limited fire. However, is only cowards who would attack peace keepers. The person who reportedly uttered such words of surrender is not a commander and it is only the commander who concede defeat. That guy was only speaking his mind and his words meant nothing.

Same as in Bangui, the French had veto to decide howany weapons we bring in the country since our mission was to train government troops and the French had to reinforce peace.
100 Nigerian peace keeping troops used AK-47 and light arms to fight 1,000 heavily armed Sudanese rebels and we refused to surrender, we did not wait for any mandate to shoot, we apply the UN universal law of peace keepers self defense.

SANDF have right to defend themselves and fight in Sudan if attacked, you fool ! You failed BSc Military Science exams right ?

Why is it that everytime SANDF faces a combat challenge the story ends with excuses of why SANDF refused to fight, all time it's excuses and excuses and excuses and excuses evrytime, so how do we test your SANDF capability to rank you among the strongest military in Africa?

You cowards want to be ranked top military power in Africa by displaying photos on Nairaland ? You cannot fight real war cheesy cheesy

By now fully armed SAAF Gripen jets should be on stand by for any emergency in Congo DRC by now as a warning to Sudan.

Even Nigeria that has Alpha jets refused to have Ivory Coast attack our citizens while we looked, we flew jets into Abidjan ready to fight !

over 100 Nigerians were at the base that was over-run - if men did not surrender, how come then you only lost 30 men and not over 100?
Fighting spirit of courage plus combat experience, that is how 100 Nigerian troops fought 1,000 Sudanese rebels and we lost only 30 men, never surrendered, they retreated to form a stubborn pocket of resistance at a part around the base perimeter, good tactical thinking, battle field craft.

Henry 120 confirmed forbidding unable to do basic arithmetic

800 divided by 3 is??
SANDF had 800 troops against 500 Sudanese.

Even if you had 3 bases, show us proof that each of the bases had exactly 800 divided by 3.

No matter what, if 250 SANDF fight 500 Sudanese in one base, it's okay ! Nigeria used 100 troops to fight 1,000 Sudanese and we refused to surrender to them, we fought all night !

The other 650 SANDF will be radioed to come and reinforce the SANDF base under attack, your 650 men reinforcing will catch the 500 Sudanese from behind and massacre them while the 250 SANDF men in the base will be hitting the Sudanese in the front.

Your enemy would have been sandwiched and trapped to death, the Sudanese are out-numbered, odds favour SANDF for victory.

Yet, with the advantage of numbers, South African troops DO NOT have the courage to fight, surrender was the first idea that came to their minds when they remembered that they joined the army for monthly salary not for war.

So much for your foolish slogan Training > Experience cheesy cheesy

#Slogan Demolished

I said before, that the day your inexperienced SANDF hear gunshot, they will tremble and run...now we here them confess fear and surrender !

Nigerian army came back to recover EVERY ground lost to Bokos and k.illed every Boko that refused to surrender to us, we won our war 100%.

Seleka NEVER admitted raising white flag, it is a South African concocted false version of events, Seleka said it's fighters broke through SANDF defensive lines, how does a man winning a battle and breaking up his enemy raise white flag, or is the white flag a weapon that is used to break through enemy defences and k.ill the enemy till they start running like rabbits to the airport ?

@Agaugust says that the Nigerian army is one of the most obsolete on the continent and that NAF is only the 11th strongest airforce in Africa:
Augustine says:
March 19, 2015 at 12:50 am

Terrorists have struck Tunisia, one of the most stable Arab nations. Speculations point to ISIS from Libya.
NATO coalition in Iraq confesses slow progress means air campaign alone will not defeat ISIS, wary of ground troops deployment.
Nigeria still has serious shortage of weapons/equipment, and wide gaping capability gaps in combat. We have enough weapons to defeat Boko Haram today based on recent importations, but not enough to be a military power that can work with Egypt effectively. I won’t go into this topic again until after this war is over soon, hopefully after elections.
I still insist that Nigeria is buying weapons in trickles of 5 units, 10 units usual tradition…..and NAF is far behind and outside the top 10 as Africa’s number 11th ranked nation in air combat power
…..NA remains one of the obsolete armies in terms of equipment in Africa, no single laser guided ATGM to boast of, reliable SAM is almost non-existent.
Let me keep quiet lest I offend my ogas again o !

The above source was provided by @Patches yesterday as he tried in vain to find an excuse for the trembling and shaking of 800 SANDF troops when they saw 500 Sudanese troops driving around in ordinary Toyota pick ups.

Bwahahaaha grin grin grin

So the for the past 8 years SANDF troops have been daily humiliated in Sudan by gangs of hoodlums, robbed of weapons, kidnapped during patrol duties, escort duties, ambushed and robbed, dispossessed of fuel, valuable personal items, military equipment, kicked around in broad daylight.

So much for the 'famous' training and training and training of SANDF, super training of super cowards .

Yet we see South Africans laughing at Nigerian army fighting Boko Haram while their own army is lucky to be in a war zone where world media has not been focusing attention, the SANDF was getting beaten up like women by thieves and robbers ! Yeeeeeeeeeeh grin grin grin

My sides grin grin grin

In orbit, my sides, this is hilarious o !

Let one South African insult Nigerian army again and I will repeat this post plus the one of Burundi where SANDF had their armouries and bases looted by thieves who drove away MRAPs and mortar artillery, with grenade launchers, RPG, machine guns etc. !

LOL.....South African army will run away to Botswana if Boko Haram appears with just 500 men in Toyotas !

No wonder SANDF trembles in Sudan when the thin legged black Arabs drove Toyota outside their bases enroute a Ramadan patrol !

Why don't your Southie soldiers show courage like Col. Eben Barlow? We thought the whole SANDF is like Col. Eben grin grin grin

Chicken Republic of South Africa....shaking quaking army of born cowards tongue tongue tongue
