“Those people were victims of a Ghana-based company ‘Qnet’, with collaborators in Nigeria who deceive people by telling them that there is employment in Ghana and that the job will pay $250 a week.
“They collect between 400 and 500 cedis from them and then they get nothing. Nobody knows how they do it, but they smuggle in people from Nigeria to Ghana.
They do not advertise their businesses in the conventional platforms like newspapers, radios or television stations. People join through them or friends. It is a pyramid-like scheme where people register through the one who lure them into the business.
People who join are promised weekly payment of $225 equivalent to 11,250 dalasis – a promise which is never fulfilled.
Some are using similar dubious business modules to lure their victims mostly from Mali, Nigeria and Burkina Faso under the guise of securing them well-paid jobs in Ghana only for their victims to be held hostage upon arrival, forced to work in Qnet network marketing.
But wat I'm reading here, is totally different anyway
OGraffix: It's was a fake job... They are gnld people using q-net as means of exhorting people... I'm even planing to create thread on it... I'm back to naija already

BloomingDale: Why should Phase 1 of the project start from Ajaokuta and not the source of the gas? I’m confused.
Ajaokuta and Aladja were designed to receive gas supply to power their steel mill companies. The plan is for Ajaokuta to receive gas from multiple sources and serve as a transmission station to the North. Aladja DSC receives gas supply from Warri.
Currently, gas supply to the Geregu power plant (Kogi) passes through Ajaokuta Steel Mill transmission station from Oben gas plant in Edo State.
The Trans Nigeria Gas Pipeline Project (TNGP) will run from the Qua Iboe Terminal through the Obigbo-Umuahia-Enugu-Ajaokuta network and the Ajaokuta-Abuja-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) network
The AKK Gas Pipeline Project constitutes Phase 1 of the TNGP Project. Phase 1 originates in Ajaokuta, traversing Abuja, Kaduna and terminating at a terminal gas station in Kano. The proposed pipeline will be supplied with gas sourced from various gas gathering projects. The AKK pipeline is estimated to be 614 kilometers in length total, with sections including: a 187-kilometer pipeline from Ajaokuta to Abuja; a 193-kilometer pipeline from Abuja to Kaduna; a 65-kilometer pipeline from Kaduna to Zaria; and a 238-kilometer pipeline from Zaria to Kano.
The gas line will provide gas to cement firms, compressed natural gas users, power generation plants, and other industrial concerns, as well as residential customers, within the northern half of the country. Nigeria plans to build three new gas-fired power plants, to be located in Abuja, Kaduna and Kano, which would use gas provided by the pipeline to generate 3,600 MW of power.
Over the years, presidential pardon has been an instrument of power used by Nigerian leaders to unconditionally set free prisoners of conscience and political detainees. The president’s power is exercised after seeking advice from the National Council of State.
The Council of State is comprised of the president, all former heads of the government of the Federation, all former Chief Justices of Nigeria, President of the Senate, Speaker of the House of Representatives, all state governors and the attorney general of the federation.
Datikwerreboi: I mean you don't hear about bandits attack in Kano and Jigawa. Could it be that El Rufai actually recruited the bandits for 2015 elections and couldn't fulfil his promise to them? Reason they're mainly facing Kaduna ?
Read up on the forests that cut through Kaduna, Niger, Kebbi, Zamfara and Katsina.
Summary, bandits flushed out of Katsina and Zamfara have converged in the Kaduna and Niger part of these forests. Kamuku and Dajin Rugu forests are notorious for bandits causing mayhem in Kaduna.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says 45 percent of new voter registrations are invalid.
Mahmood Yakubu, INEC chairman, said this on Wednesday during a press briefing in Abuja.
He said the country is now in the fourth quarter of the ongoing continuous voter registration (CVR) which was restarted on June 28, 2021, after it was suspended for the 2019 general election.
He said while the number of new registrants is very impressive, the commission has a duty to clean up the data to ensure that only eligible Nigerians are registered.
The INEC chairman cited multiple registration and incomplete data as the reasons for the invalid voter registrations.
“Unfortunately, the troubling issue of invalid registration still persists which we detected while cleaning up the latest registration data,” he said.
“Sadly, it seems that many registrants, either out of ignorance that they do not need to re-register if they had done so before, or a belief that our systems will not detect this infraction, have gone out to register again. This is despite repeated warnings by the commission against this illegal action. In addition, there are also registrants whose data were incomplete and did not meet our business rules for inclusion in the register.
“Presently, nearly 45% of completed registrations nationwide are invalid, rising to as high as 60% or more in some states. This infraction happened in all states of the federation. No state is immune from it. These invalid registrations will not be included in the register of voters. This development is worrisome because of the time and resources expended in handling these cases.
”As we have repeatedly explained, if you had at any time in the past registered to vote, you do not have to reregister. If you have registered in the past, you should not get involved in the CVR again unless you have had problems with your PVC or fingerprint recognition during accreditation in any previous election. In that case, all you need to do is to revalidate your registration by visiting a designated registration centre to recapture your fingerprints and picture.”
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said 44.6 per cent of voters who have registered since 2021 are invalid.
The INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, said only 1,390,519 (over 55 per cent) Nigerians have registered since 2021 when the commission began another registration.
Yakubu said this on Wednesday in Abuja at a media conference.
“This is a challenging development,” Yakubu said, adding the affected persons would need to re-register.
He also said that only 10 of the 18 registered political parties have notified the commission of their primaries.
He urged the remaining parties to do the needful and for all the parties to strictly follow the electoral laws and other guidelines.
Editor’s note: This story was updated over an error of fact
She eventually realised that she applied with 1990 as date of birth. Whereas, date of birth on her NIN is 1989.
She is to go for capturing tomorrow.
Can she decide to change the date on the passport to tally with 1989 that she has on her NIN without incuring extra cost?
Thank you.
She should inform the vetting officer of the error. She will be properly advised on the next steps to take. The data capture officer can edit the mistake as long as the actual date of birth can be verified with evidence.
monakii: This is indeed a good news. BTW., What is the smartest/fastest way to get NIN verified?
I have the nimc mobile app downloaded on my phone but two of the numbers I linked with my NIN is not showing up on the app. Although, the numbers are still functioning hence I have the inkling that my NIN may not be verified.
I want to prepare myself before paying for the renewal of my passport as I don't want to go through needless stress.
Thanking you in anticipation of a quick feedback.
pufframmy: (Answer: Just Complain To NIMC...) .. A lot of Nigerians, and Nairalanders are going through this wahalla at the moment .. If you already have your NIN-Number with you,, but whenever you take the NIN-Number to the Bank, they would always tell you to go back to the NIMC and tell them to Validate your NIN-Number and add it to the NIN-Database on the NIMC Computer. .. This is what you would do... .. Send an email to info@nimc.gov.ng with a copy-to cc.. to customercare@nimc.gov.ng and nimccustomercare@nimc.gov.ng.... .. Put the subject as “VALIDATE MY NIN-NUMBER”. Then give them your “full name” and the NIN-Number that is to be validated. .. .. (Try this first, then come back and thank me later)
FG to introduce online tracking system for passport application
THE Federal Government will in May introduce a system online for the tracking and monitoring of passport applications. The minister said apart from the National Identity Number verification and linking, there should be no other major reason for the delay in issuing passports.
“Not later than a month from today, applicants will be able to track their application online to know precisely what stage is your application. You will not have the hassle of people coming. Just go online with your reference number to check and it will state whether you are having a NIN problem.
“It will tell you the status of your application. It will tell you whether your passport is ready and you can pick it. This will be a month from now by the Grace of God,” he added.
He said the waiting time for fresh passports should not be more than six weeks while for passport renewal, it should not exceed three weeks. “We will get to a stage where no passport applicant will meet any immigration officer in the process of processing passports and there will be no manual documentation of that process,” the minister added.
TheScribbler: Oh I see. Thank you. Is there no way around this? My friend is reluctant to leave the passport even for a few minutes because of the fact that a visa is attached to it.
TheScribbler: Thanks so much for responding! So, I will be with them at the moment they look at it? I don't have to leave it and go and sit down and wait?
Well, you will leave it with the officer and it will be returned back to you along with the card.
TheScribbler: Are we submitting the passport for some time,
Passport booklet is for sighting purposes. The passport number will be transcribed onto the yellow fever card. It will be handed over to you along with the card immediately after vaccination
QNET is a network marketing organization that began as GoldQuest in 1998. It maintains that is a direct selling company that aims at contributing to healthy living.
According to its management, if buyers can refer others to patronize their products, they can earn commissions on the purchases of the people they refer.
Even though it sounds like a great business opportunity, QNET shows signs of a Ponzi or pyramid scheme. As such, operations of QNET have over the years been banned in several countries including Saudi Arabia, Rwanda, Canada, India, Turkey, amongst others.
Meanwhile here in Ghana, quite several QNET agencies have been set up in parts of the Eastern Region and several other undiscovered locations. At these agencies, Independent Representatives introduce the direct selling business to innocent citizens and even foreigners and convince them of the credibility of the business which is not the case.
Most of those involved in this business are based in the Eastern Region as well as in other locations around the country with Kasoa being a centre of the conversation. There are Ghanaians, Nigerians, Malians, and Burkinabe, some of which are tricked into joining and forced to work with these QNET agencies.
These potential agents are asked to undergo ‘training’ and buy at least one of the QNET’s products online, the least price being GH₵ 4,200 before they can be registered as Independent Representatives to start earning commissions.
In an interview with Yaw, a young man who was introduced to sign up, he said he had to pull out after realizing things were not adding up.
“I went for a QNET presentation at a location that I want to keep private,” Yaw told Pulse.com.gh.
“I didn’t find their home settings favourable in the sense that, I noted little things which reversed my intention to sign up to QNET. I realized their testimonial footage they filmed to show us looked staged and unreal.”
Another person who would like to stay anonymous gave a full account of her experience:
“A friend reached out to me on how to make quick money. Even though I was sceptical about this move I needed that money badly. As early as 4 am I left Haatso to Kasoa to the QNET office for an interview.
“When I got to the entrance of the office, I saw a lot of youth there that made me comfortable a bit but I must confess, where the venue is situated is not a place anyone who loved to go alone. A solitary place with a handful of building around.
“I got in and saw a man who looked like he was on a food strike. So lean and looked very unkempt teaching a group of people obviously on how to scam. I was offered a seat when I entered and told to wait for my turn for the interview.
“I got into the office for the interview and it was all so funny. Looking at a man whom I thought should be organised has bleached from head to toe. His knuckles, alone got me wondering if I was at the right place.
“The interview ended earlier than I thought, asking me for my background details and if I can make sales. They made it look like it was a network company where I had to get to people and also sign people on. I thought that was the end of the interview until he told me I can only get the jot after I pay GHS 4000.
“Onua! If I had that money I wouldn't come there at all. I left the office and I had my friend convincing me to quickly sign up and start. He said it's very lucrative and he has got enough to even start his own business.
“He advised that I borrow money from people to make payment which I didn't because of that he never spoke to me again.
“Anuanom today this guy dey br3 papa. Dem chop am koraa and he doesn't know how to scam even though he was taken through scamming lessons.”
These innocent people who fall into the hands of network marketing schemes like QNET due to unemployment lose huge sums of money they acquire through loans or savings.
Also, other people are at a risk of being dragged into this fraudulent ‘money-sucking’ chain.
After applying for several jobs here in Nigeria nd none forthcoming, A friend of mine working in Q1 group of companies in Ghana told me they are still vacancy in the branch established in the eastern region of Ghana (nkawkaw)....
So he got me the company email and I sent my cv after some days, I was contacted and asked some fews questions which I answered well.
On the 1st of this month, I was congratulated and offered a placement in their health department, and was told to report to the HR office on the 13th of this month...
Just like that?
Shine your eyes brother
Google search however reveals damming issues about the operations of Qnet globally. Over 100 people from Togo reportedly became victims of Qnet operations in Ghana. They were told by friends that they found jobs in Ghana with a monthly salary of 300,000 CFA franc but were instead made to pay 500,000 CFA franc, held hostage under the guise of training. In April 2020, Police in Abuakwa in Ashanti Region arrested four Qnet agents for allegedly scamming 29 west African Nationals lured to Ghana under the guise of securing them jobs in mining firm for which they were charged $750 each but later discovered they have been recruited into network marketing.
PoorUgly: I have talked to AliExpress, they told me to stop paying, that the shipping cost I paid to them is enough to cover to my shipping address. That any extra cost is extortion and stealing, that they will warn them.
They told me anytime they add that extra cost I should put dispute and collect my money back, let them pay the extra cost to return the package to China. If they pay it two times they will learn sense.
They told me, it's because your people are paying the extra money that's why they're bold to continue the nonsense.
That's nigeria for us we help people to cheat and make life difficult for us.
Did AliExpress really say this?
If you take time to go through reviews of AE products, you will realise that nationals from other countries complain about paying all forms of duties that we don't even pay here.
