One of the things about NFF communication with players it is facilitated by other officials, who may not be the most efficient.

Did he have the right number, did he call at the right time, for instance training usually starts at 9.30 am may not end until 2.30/3.00pm. During this period your phones off.

There are a multitude of scenarios that can cause a breakdown of communication. Enyeama is not a liar, a man of integrity yes from all I have heard.
I still don't understand what really transpire between Rohr n Vincent.

Was it that Rohr was giving a wrong contact-by anyone in d glasshouse or wherever just to vindicate themselves by victimizing/tagging Vincent as d bad guy? Or Rohr himself dialling d wrong number(it can happen to anyone)?

Well, Vincent shouldn't have gone d social media way just like Osaze did during Late Keshi's era...

I'm sure one day d truth will come to limelight.

CAF snub Super Eagles stars in Africa XI for 2016

by Samm Audu

Nigeria Super Eagles stars have failed to make the Africa XI for 2016 named by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Arsenal youngster Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho from Manchester City could only be named on the substitutes' bench.

The top three nominees for the prestigious CAF African Footballer of the Year for 2016 – Riyad Mahrez, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Sadio Mane – are on the starting line-up.

CAF recognised Mamelodi Sundowns top stars Denis Onyango, Khama Billiat and Keegan Dolly as they won an historic CAF Champions League last year to be included on this Dream Team.

The CAF African XI for 2016
Goalkeeper: Denis Onyango (Uganda & Mamelodi Sundowns)

Defenders: Serge Aurier (Cote d’Ivoire & PSG), Aymen Abdenour (Tunisia & Valencia), Eric Bailly (Cote d’Ivoire & Manchester United), Joyce Lomalisa (DRC & AS Vita)

Midfielders: Khama Billiat (Zimbabwe & Mamelodi Sundowns), Rainford Kalaba (Zambia & TP Mazembe), Keegan Dolly (South Africa & Mamelodi Sundowns)

Forwards: Fierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon & Borussia Dortmund), Sadio Mane (Senegal & Liverpool), Riyad Mahrez (Algeria & Leicester City)

Subs:
Aymen Mathlouthi (Tunisia & Etoile du Sahel), Kalidou Koulibaly (Senegal & Napoli), Salif Coulibaly (Mali & TP Mazembe), Islam Slimani (Algeria & Leicester City), Mohamed Salah (Egypt & Roma), Kelechi Iheanacho (Nigeria & Manchester City), Alex Iwobi (Nigeria & Arsenal)

When someone reads for months and works hard for his exams. If he feels confident that he is ready for the exam, will you attribute that to just confidence?

No matter how confident a player is, if he does not have quality and not trained hard to make him flourish with his talent, his confident will not help.

If a player works and trains hard, his confidence will be high because he is prepared
.

CARRAGHER: Is it more than just trophies with him? By that I mean, has he elevated the way you play, the way you train to a level you didn’t expect? I have watched his training and the level of intensity is really noticeable. Has he educated you as a player?

LAHM: You’re always measured by the number of trophies but he developed a lot of players with the way he thinks about tactics, the way he analyses games and prepares teams for particular opponents. He really helps players develop and he even helped me improve at the age of 30. You’re right — with Pep it’s more than just about winning trophies.
Lahm made mention of 'Tactics' it's all about playing to each others strength.

As I've earlier said-d team comes before an individual player. football is a team sport. D more u understand each other d better u become as a team and individually. E.g look @ KDB's assist dat led to RS goal against arsenal... KDB made that long pass with a preconceived notion that someone is there*team chemistry* simple. N both players benefited 4rm t.

Even d greatest combos football world has seen in recent time are all due to hours of polish on d field of play. MSN, SSS, BBC etc

The real deal is overrated. Not the training. I keep asking, how can people expect more improvement from a ninety minutes games over spending hours on the training pitch almost everyday. Beats my imagination.

Note: as much as I like n love training-it's over-rated compared to d real deal. Or why are we complaining about Mikel's lack of game time since he is aving wonderful training period wit Conte? Or d reason y players go out on loan since de can always train n improve in their parent's club by just training?

TheGoodJoe:

Game time is not an excellent criteria for development. We saw Iwobi drop in form despite having lots of game time. Ighalo dropped form despite lots of game time.

Development comes mostly from hard work in training. Spending hours on the training field horning your skills improves a player more than ninety minutes intensity.

Preparation is key.

Confidence will not improve the way a player controls the ball or passes it. It takes long drills.
your last statement sums t up.
Well, that's a total no for me.

Confidence goes a long way in a players performance. Look @ Falcao, Balo, etc all found their foot back not because de got better training pitch/time or trainner but simply because de got those confidence back-which is in two way(d one d coach has in u which is vital but lacking in d case of nacho-we all know that, n d one u have in urself some collect self-believe).

TheGoodJoe:
Watch Otamendi lately, there is personal improvement of each player. This is something that is easily noticeable. Iheanacho recently talked about Guardiola making him study Messi and Lewandowski. He says and he works on what he notices in training.

Is that for team Chemistry?

The two and a half hours aerial drills, is it for team chemistry?

What of Messi who Guardiola changed his diet and sleeping plans? Is that for team chemistry?

Training is not just for team chemistry but also individual development.
you still don't get.

Let a young messi keep changing his diet... as long as there is no xavi n Iniesta-he will remain like anyother footballer.

All this drills u keep mentioning are de practiced individually?

D aerial drills u keep mentioning are all done to aid understanding(chemistry) amidst the defenders. You don't teach 'a' footballer how to jump n nod. Awareness, positioning and many more around d 18-yard box are shown to players as a group(defenders, mid-fielders, attackers).

And do u think Ota would have improved by just training n sittin on d bench.

TheGoodJoe:

Unless you believe two and a half hours a day practicing winning aerial duels is what every school boy does, then special training have effects.

There is talent, hard work and then specialized training.

That is what Iheanacho is going through. Working hard under specialized training.

Look at the brilliance Yaya controls the midfield now. I have never seen him that way all my life. Are you saying we should not attribute that to Guardiola and his coaching crew
?
@Sir. TheGoodJoe, I'm not taking anything away from pep. He is an amazing coach that has won so many laurels, 'brought out' d best out f players as a result of improving d general team play in a way that best suit some certain players...

As good as training could be it only contributes a share percentage to a footballer's dev.
Most coaches focus n lay emphasis on team chemistry(trying out various formations, patterns etc) than individual dev. during trainings.

In leu f dis, Individual player's improvement comes from d time de spend on d pitch during competitive matches.

You can't compare d intensity of a match to training where players are instructed on what to do, whom to, n how to handle balls n mostly done lightly wit cautions so as to avoid injuries.

The decline ppl c in rashford n martial(sevilla don de plan loan move for im sef) is as a result of lack of game time. And d first thing t takes away from a young player which nacho falls to is CONFIDENCE.

Kudos to Iheanacho getting his goal. Great Speed again from the youngster. That is growing into his biggest attribute. The run from midfield to get to that position to score was impressive.

Still brilliant when he drops into the midfield to connect the balls. Great when he gets chances to score.

Impressive development was one of the balls Iheanacho got in the air. That was an impressive leap. Another was a wing move on the left which was fine.
*Smiles*
though I didn't watch d match.
D way u 're portraying Pep's input in nacho's dev is something else... You mean all those techniques he displayed were lesson from Pep..?
Baba, Nacho is no rookie wen t comes to football. even a secondary Sch boy who lacks a pep-like coach will do dem wit ease...

I personally, haven't seen any special input made by pep in nacho's game. He was even far better during Pelle's reign...
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by AIG07: 8:58pm On Dec 26, 2016
TheGoodJoe:
Biggest challenge for Iheanacho is that he does not like the pressure. He makes mistakes in his touches when defenders are around him, although that improved during the game.

Seeing Guardiola wants Iheanacho moving constantly to make it difficult for the defenders to mark him.

Props to the youngster. His injection into the team gave us a different dimension to our game.
that s why d no 9 role s not s natural position. We might not c d best of nacho in dat role. Leave it or take t.

Of course, Iwobi is better than Ox. Much better sef.

The only thing is that Iwobi needs to become a little more selfish and think about adding goal scoring to his game. Same with Victor Moses.
The problem with most naija players is that they are too much of team players that they don't think about padding their stats. But at the end of the day, the difference between you starting and sitting on the bench is your stat.

I think some of them are a little timid, but someone ought to tell them: if you have a chance of scoring then take the shot, even if you have a team mate to pass to....be a little selfish and take the shot yourself. At the end of the day, if you miss then you can just apologize and move on....and if you score, no one can accuse you of being selfish. Point is, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

O pari
you're so on point.
