Mujtahida:
Just this morning I was watching some clips on YouTube and I watched a video on great passers of the ball- Beckham, Xavi, Ronaldinho etc. But Beckham was the pick of the pack. I recall also that our own George Finidi at one time was voted the best 7 in the world. Luis Figo too in his time also had that distinction. The point I want to make is that I have noticed that wingers this days tend to want to dribble all the way rather than lay crosses that sweep across the face of the goal of the opposing team. Why is this so now?
Yes! That's d order of d day now.
Football is fast evolving. From d traditional 4-4-2 formation to 4-2-3-1 and even now clubs(most esp english teams) are adopting d 3-4-3 formation-it's coming to stay after a fail trial by LVG but Conte's rejuvenated team has given an hint that it's workable.

So, to crossing wingers. Team play has changed.
Modern day Wingers(as said by TheGoodJoe) are no longer left with d sole role of touchline running n crossing as seen in d last decade. A modern day winger must have d ability to skip past markers, dribble, 'cut-in' and shoots.

Though de seldomly cross but that's when d team are in dire need of a goal towards d end of match.

Well, no matter how obsolete a tradition can be there'll still be some traces of it. I think some f d German bundesliga(wolfsburg), Italia Seria A teams still play this style of football.

Though it's becoming boring when compared to d modern style and some coaches employ t to frustrate their opponents-since d larger part of d game is about ariel balls.

I think it is two phases. I think first, a young player should work and learn under a top manager/managers. Whether he has game time or not. After grasping the knowledge, he can go out on loans or a transfer to a smaller club to show what he has learnt.

I don't know what it is that makes seemingly good well brought up girls go gaga when they see footballers.

Then you have the calculating, scheming, low down, predators and totally unscrupulous well you know types. That will stop at nothing and do absolutely anything to get in to bed with them.

Finally it is very difficult to have parental control and discipline over your son who can afford to buy a range rover every week.

EASIER SAID THAN DONE
You're right!

But remember Iwobi s still a rookie when t comes to professional football likewise is also young and may not be able to handle everything that comes with stardom-and this is where he needs parental guide which might come from his Biological parents, uncle(who for once, was also a football pro n understands more).

Tbaba1234 curious how do you know Yahaya is a bona-fide 18 year old huh

I reiterate if Tottenham really like him and felt he was the real deal. They will not sell him.

Porto just like Sporting and Benfica operate thier youth policy as business primarily. Not so much Braga and Guimarense who are not as cut throat.

You need to be very weary of thier agents and clubs that love the TPI deals outlawed in the UK but rife in Portugal.

They are not overly concerned about unofficial or unproven age discrepancies. It's a cattle market Portuguese football to me, in my personal limited dealings with them.
Are u into talent scouting/u're a football agent?

AF Nigeria 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers - Africa Cameroon
How Algeria will qualify for World Cup at expense of Nigeria - Captain
[/size]
Algeria captain Carl Medjani has said he believes his team could still qualify for the 2018 World Cup at the expense of Nigeria.

The Desert Foxes are one of the leading teams in Africa and were widely tipped to win a “Group of Death”, which also has Cameroon and Zambia.

However, after two rounds of matches, they are bottom of the standings on a point.

“We can still qualify for the World Cup,” declared the 31-year-old Leganes midfielder.

“We need to win our remaining four matches and hope the Super Eagles lose a game before their final match in Algeria.”

Nigeria are runaway leaders of Group B with six points after two rounds of matches.

In August 2017, they will first play host to Cameroon, before they travel for the reverse fixture four days later.

Algeria, on the other hand, are bottom of the standings and they will face Zambia in Ndola in August and welcome the Chipolopolo days later.

In October, Nigeria host Zambia and Algeria will be away in Cameroon, before the qualifying series are rounded up on November 6 with the Eagles away in Algeria and Cameroon out in Zambia.

On Nacho's role in the Super Eagles:
Nacho should only play if and only if he will be playing as a SS, AMF or from the flank in a 4-2-3-1 formation. If not he should fight for a starting shirt in this roles with other players or he comes in as a sub and never as a 9.

I personally, won't want to see Nacho play the 9 role for Nigeria.

Playing Nacho as a false 9 or 9 in the green, white and green will only reduce him to an average player.
Note: Nigeria is no Manchester City, so therefore, there is no enough time for the team to train and blend in a way that will fit him just as in city (e.g last evening most of our wingers couldn't understand his timing noff the ball movement and thereby making it uneasy for him as we see week in week out in city)
Nacho is a kind of player that takes his time on the ball before shooting, cos he shoots with caution and not aimlessly and there is no room for that in the front man position.
He could have done better and probably score if he had played behind the striker yesterday. He is a kind of player that picks up misplaced passes, poor clearances and turn them into goals from outside the box.

I'll keep saying t our local female coaches are bunch of crap.

They can't diff between an Africa championship n a world cup. This is what u get wen u think world football is about physicality n height.

Well this result didn't come as a suprise to me. That Ihezuo or wetin be her name is average. She has been costing us so much since her u-17 champs.

To me the best set of u-20 we've had so far is d one comprising of Oparanozie, Esther sunday, orji n d likes. The rest are just average who were just lucky enough to showcase what de got @ international level

Iheanacho's best position is not as a top striker. I think I've argued this out on this thread for several months now.
Playing him a striker will neutralise his impact. He is like Greizmann /Kaka. I think I've been very clear on this.
sir. You are on point. But Sir. TheGoodJoe won't just admit t.

Nacho has more to offer than just scoring goals n playing him up front will only limit him.

I concur.! Playing him there will be a joker and this will bring less focus on our danger flanks.. He can also help in build-up and switch position with the player at his back and he's still deadly and can score goals, even against a solid defense.

I'm happy not because we won. But simply because we got a master tactician n a great man manager in Rohr.

Sir. TheGoodJoe!
Hope u saw our boy Nacho today(how I wish he scored) ?
Nacho's role n performance today shows us that d no 9 role isn't d best place to play him. His abilities are best seen in a 10,8 or been flanked in a 4-2-3-1.

But all kudos goes to Rohr for taking those bold steps.
First, for benching Ighalo n Ideye, for bringing in Ndidi for Mikel who was more offensive today and lastly for given moses a call up(our local coaches would have miss handle d t due to their egos)...

Iwobi is good but it's time he starts getting physical for that's what african football is about.(but d lad got some footwork just like his uncle did anyone see that carry-over)

Moses is d man. Wait, where did he got that strength from?
He was simply spectacular!

Akpeyi was jittery today-we still Enyeama as a backup for carl.

Finally, we need a natural 9 for that is d biggest hole we need to fill n sort out our fullbacks issue. It won't be bad if we have backups for Ekong n Balogun(their pairing has broughit solidity to d defence...

Once again congratulations to everyone.
Ride on Eagles
we are going back to where we belong to-the very top.
