Did Jesus Christ preach tithe and tithing? |
Is it right for Christians to pray “BACK TO SENDER” and “LORD, PUNISH MY ENEMIES kind of prayer?” |
I thought people should be interested in asking "how?" or saying WHY IT IS NOT TRUE rather than criticise without a basis, without an argument. I thought we have grown beyond this level. |
aloy*emeka:@aloy*emeka For your info, I am: 100% Nigerian 100% Christian 100% Igbo But think about it! Time is running out. |
That's right! Very intelligent set of people, very hard-working, very ambitious, BUT, The Igbo of the South East Nigeria are a cursed people! Until you discover the origin & cause of your curse, you cannot move forward and only then will all your ambitions be actualised. |
boy t:The same leaders/PDP that forced our poor, vulnerable, promising, intelligent chap into suicide bombing. Do you ask me how? What was Farouk looking for in Togo? What did he go to do in England, Dubai & finally Yemen that initiated him? Did he see good schools here? Has Nigeria recovered from her shattered, comotose education system? Was there NEPA for him to read his books? Were there good roads & good transport system to take him to school? Have kidnapping and ritual killings stopped in Nigeria? He was probably running away from corruption, so he does nt get infected. These are why the poor boy left the protective arms of his parents, and ran into trouble. I will say it again and again that OBJ, IBB, ATIKU, & their cohorts are the REAL TERRORISTS. May God forgive them. God save the real Nigerians. |
", The body was that of Esau, but voice was the voice of Jacob." The silence is simply misleading. Nigerians cannot believe anything anymore from these folks. Which father after recuperating from a life-threatening health condition chooses to talk to outsiders rather than his immediate family? Nigerians have been taken for a ride for so long. And the worst, we continue to wait for God to come down from heaven to assist us do what we can do by ourselves. Nigeria is becoming lawless. And, IN A LAWLESS SOCIETY, IT IS ILLEGAL TO BE LAW-ABIDING. To your tents O Israel! |
daberechim:@daberechim, Have u gone to consult a Law Book or a SAN for your judgement. You left you post ending with ", My judgement is as follows," Please, we re waiting for the jugdement. |
The boy is actually NOT guilty. Why should he plead guilty? The guilty parties are our leaders and top government officials (The Obasanjos, The Atikus, The Yar’aduas, The IBBs, The Buharis, The Prof Osuji’s & other ministers of education, the former & present NASS members, The former & present governors…etc), who had opportunity of restructuring a better Nigeria. Had Nigeria got good schools, had Nigeria developed our moribund educational system, had ASUU not been treated unfairly, which prolongs graduation dates for undergrads (a nightmare for parents!), had the standard of education not fallen in Nigeria, Farouk Abdulmutallab, would have remained and studied in Nigeria; not Togo, not England, not Dubai, not to talk of Yemen. The poor boy is a victim of our government insensitivity to the good people of Nigeria. At that vulnerable age, he was left in the cold of parentlessness. It’s a shame that a Nigerian will go to Togo (God help us), Ghana and other smaller and less endowed countries for primary and secondary educations. What a shame!!! We need to bury our heads in shame. While I condemn the attack intoto, I request America to join a class action of our leaders. Whatever sentence Farouk will face, our leaders, including Obasanjo and Yar’Adua should be made to suffer more. |
maclatunji:No. US wont try that again. Did u hear d story of d double-agent who killed CIA officials recently? America will have learnt their lessons. There is no deal to strike here! |
lastpage: agabaI23:Thanks agaba for correcting the 'professor.' You don't say *"everybody have, " The correct syntax is "Everybody has, " If you had read my post, you would agree with me that that very expression is a typographical error. I couldnt have written *"they have improves." I believe you know that the computer keyboard has the letters 's' and 'd' beside each other. I couldnt have used a verb in its simple present tense in the place of a perfective or what rookies call participle. I think I have grown beyond that. But note that: 1. You do not say, *"Everybody have, " that is wrong grammar. The correct version is "Everybody has, " 2. I saw where you wrote, *"dont take this too serious, " Please, the correct expression is, *"Dont take this too seriously" You don't need to disgrace yourself, when you actually do not know. You remind me of a boy who, in an attempt to correct a girl that spoke bad English, said, *"SIMPLE ENGLISH YOU CAN'T SPOKE!" So, I advise you hide your ignorance a little. @agaba, Thank you again for correcting this 'prof.' However, "Everybody has their" is VERY CORRECT, and standard usage. "Everybody has his/her, " is also correct but substandard, according to COMPETENT NATIVE SPEAKER. We're all speakers of English as a Second Language. - We also say "Everybody has done their work." and stuff llike that. @'Prof' Lastpage, I also believe the poster's problem is not close to what NL members are writing on this very post. It must be something very poor and awful. In conclusion, Lastpage, let's not divert this very topic to irrelevant issues. We also do not know who we talk to on NL, so we need to be a little mature about wwhatever we say, especially when it comes to serious sections of NL. If you are on those sexuality & other undergraduate sections, you know you are dealing with teenagers and probably adolescents. But, in serious sections like politics, business and topic as this, let us "hold body small." It could be the difference b/w honour and disgrace. @agaba, "I throway my salute!" |
I think I'm enjoying you guys. This is it! |
LeoMax:@LeoMax Is adultery really a crime in Nigeria? I thought it's only despoil that's a crime in 9ja. Pls, confirm that adultery is actually criminal. If it's really a crime, then the two parties in adultery are guilty. Pls, respond. |
texasguy1:@texasguy1 I'm yet 2 understnd d import of your sudden outburst of emotions. Are you saying the Senators should have held to their guns? U heard me say "U [Senators] over-reacted initially." Mayb, u didnt read my post very well b/4 replying. There is nothing better than what they have done - surrender. Will they beat US? What economic & diplomatic sanctions will 9ja impose on US? They didnt think in the first place b/4 going to a war they will nt win. The ultimatum would have degenerated to something else. Mayb, further affect you and me. Wisdom is knowing when to retreat if you cannt continue. My bros, so what s your problem? Please, educate me further if I said rubbish. But, stop being unnecessarily biased with your ethnic idiosyncracies. I thought we have grown beyond that in 2010? |
dadafay:dadafay, Yes, I said that in the first paragraph. I studied in 9ja; other pple I know dt did well in school also studied in 9ja. The truth is students don't want to read. They want to have their cake & eat it. They dont study, they dont attend lectures, but they want to pass. There is no short-cut to it. You either read well & pass without molestation of you use your body well. I still doubt if any lecture can score a student an A after sleeping with her. Though, your analogy may be true with regard to a lecturer trying to sleep with pregnant/married women, my point was clear. I said that too, if you DID read my post. I also said that a serious student will never fall victim of that. Lecturers are afraid of touching intelligent students or toying with their scores. The fact is that you cannot faile an "A" student, or drag her from A to D or E. It's not possible. You can't miss lectures, miss assignments, miss quizes, write trash in exams, then go to a lecturer's office dressing half nude, & expect the lecturer to behave like a pope. We reap what we sow. I can say it two million times; we reap what we sow! We shouldn't judge students using a bad example. The majority sadly are not a good yardstick. I speak authoritatively. I dont intend to hurt anybody, just airing my views/opinion. |
Robert Greene in his The 48 Laws of Power, says, "When you are weaker, never fight for honour's sake; choose surrender tactics instead." (Law 22 - USE SURRENDER TACTICS, ) - You cannot fight your 'chi' - Only a fool does not know who is stronger than him - A child who starts too early to unravel what killed his father, will not live to find the answer as he will surely fall victim of the same cause. Good job, Senators!!! I like that. You over-reacted initially. Go settle amicably. |
Truly I cant stand that. I couldn't have even married her in the first place. Anyway, everybody has their own criteria and yardstick for a life-partner. However, there is hope! There are 2 prominent (pardon me for using this word) Nigerians whose command of English was an apology in the time past. But they have improves tremendously now. Today, each time I listen to them speak, I keep wondering what happened. Do u know who they are? Prophet T.B. Joshua and Chris Uba of Anambra State. They improved beyond comprehension. You too can make your wife the same, only if she is willing. She doesnt need much of text books and readers as recommended by some NL member. For those recommending all sort of books, Nigerians don’t read! So, buying all the Cambridge University books won’t help. What she needs is simulation—interactive learning. Luckily there are e-learning books, videos, films and the likes. With this she can sit back and learn English, which most of us Nigerians thought cannot be read or studied. Thereafter, a few books can then follow to complement the e-learning. You can agree with me that Nigerians do NOT like reading. I doubt if your wife is an exception. You must also guide her through this and be patient. I hope she also wants to learn, b/c u can take a horse to the river, but u cannot force it to drink |
O Wise an upright Judge! A Daniel has come to judgement. There is then hope for 9ja after all. |
It baffles me whenever I hear LECTURER-VICTIMISATION! Does it really exist? Each time I interviewed girls & asked them why they came out with either a 3rd or 2.2, the next thing I would hear was I didnt sleep with the lecturer. It sucks! I try to keep my cool at such response. Ladies say this more, i don't know why. The truth is what your wife needs is TO STUDY HARD AND PASS ALL HER PAPERS. Lecturers can only fail marginal students; borderline students, who are hovering between a 'D' and an 'E' Grade. No lecturer can try it on an A or B student. 'De lecturer no de fear?' If you re a bright and intelligent student, lecturers will keep off your territory and look for those ne'er-do-well to sleep with. Lecturers talk about sleeping when you fail (to do) assignments or are absent from school or fail exams, and now you go back to them for 'reconciliation'. My people say, "He who fetches the ant-infested firewood has invited the lizard for a dinner. I have a lot of females around me that graduated with 1st class. They couldn't have slept with all the lecturers on campus to make 4.5 & above. I bet you, no lecturer had the guts to come close to them to say that nonsense. They carry an aura of fire and brimestone. You dare not attempt to fail them. They are confident and know what they wrote. Before exams are out, they already know they are making A's. So, u can't alter their marks. "Who born you?" They never would have a 'MISSING SCRIPT' that are excuses I hear today. Nonsense! Students are lazy. Period! So, my dear brother, I advice: The only security your wife will have is IF SHE STUDIES HARD. The problem with Undergrads is that they never read, they never take their studies seriously. They start reading 2 weeks to the exam. I bet you, even if you confront the lecturer (like some people have suggested to you here), if your wife doesn't face her studies squarely and pass her courses, you will NOT know when she would start sleeping with her lecturers. She can always cook up one story to cover up why she came late. Many married women do it to pass exams. But, must she merely PASS? Why 'PASS"? Why not FLY? The truth is that most married women do not tell their husbands about harassments from lecturers; I commend your wife for that. Change of school will also NOT solve the problem, b/c she's going to meet other randy lecturers there too. People don't know that making first class/Distinction from universities/higher institutions is VERY, VERY EASY. Even when a student parties and does everything other students do, a serious student will still make the best grade, if (s)he so desires. A student only reaps whatever (s)he sows. Please, tell your wife. It's still a surprise to me why in this present age, people fail exams and not do well. Our fellow Nigerians travel abroad to study and come back with 1st class. Akunyili's children (5 of them) all graduated with 1st class because they studied abroad. Why? Internet. I have repeatedly told people that had I schooled when the internet was in vogue, I would have come out with 5.0 GPA or worse 4.98 (thereabouts). NB: If you please, when I'm facilitating my next workshop/campaign on this, I would invite you and your wife. U need to be there yourself to be sure of what we are doing. Mailto: airzzee@yahoo.com, so I can keep you informed. Good luck to you and your wife. |
We can say anything we like. But US is right in blacklisting Nigeria. If it were you, you would do the same. - About a year or two ago, US authorities released a report that showed that Nigeria is linked to Al Qaeda terrorist group. Our govt screamed and dismissed the allegation as baseless; - Shortly after, came Niger-Delta militancy, kidnap and destruction of lives & property, where arms of sorts including RPGs and automatic weapons were brandished by people who dressed exactly like the wanted terrorists. Don't blame America! - It wasn’t long boko haram riot broke out in some parts of the North, in which many Nigerians lost their lives in what looked like suicide bombings as it obtains Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India etc. Don't blame America! - Just in December 2009 again, another set of killings cropped up, also linked to religious extremism. Don't blame America! - Don’t forget that on September 11, 2001, US lost almost 3,000 souls in that worst ever terrorist attacked on their soil. US needed to protect their people. It is only in Nigeria that the governments do not care about the lives of their people: govt/govt officials are the known to have killed more than any other person(s) in Nigeria; police have devoured the remaining; political thuggery & the do-or-die-affiar syndrome takes the rest. America is NOT like Nigeria, where her citizens are executed everyday in Singapore, China, & Morocco/Libya & the govt cannot stand to say, "Hey! What did my people do?" They love not just their citizens but they that dwelleth therein. So, don't blame America! Human beings are not God, and therefore not omniscient. We base our judgment on what we see, and impressions we get. We form opinions from the external and nobody should blame America. A country that has suffered all this cannot shut their eyes to anything looks close to that. That Nigeria has never produced a suicide bomber does not justify it cannot start one day. It's unfortunate, but it has happened. We must face the consequencies. Had Nigeria got good schools for her citizens, had their been facilities for good education, had our leaders regarded education, Farouk wouldn't have gone to Togo (in the first instance) and then Uk, then Dubai, then Yemen to study. The poor, vulnerable boy could have still remained in the watchful eyes of the parents to study in Nigeria. So, those guys (I mean our leaders) have part of the blame for dragging Nigeria back. US will surely take their time to delist Nigeria from the terror list. Some other countries Iraq, Libya etc were on that list sometime, but were one after the other delisted, when they weer cleared. We only need to launder our image, free ourselves from all suspicions, including political 'thiefing' and elections gerrymandering before we can dream of having our name remove from that evil list. It is not about a 7-DAY ULTIMATUM or What? What, for goodness sake will Nigeria do to US? Sanction them? Deny them aids? Refuse their citizens visa? Just what? Our leaders in NASS are dreaming. Let them wake up! After all, they are all part of this wahala. |
EmperorOlu:I hate hearing this kind of comments. If u re corrupt, I AM NOT. I have repeatedly preached integrity, even in NL. So, nt all 9jarians r corrupt. People like Soludo, who recevd bribes & gratifications in large number, and turned aa deaf ear to the ills going on in d banking sector can be corrupt. I m nt, & will neva b! |
Why can't President Yar'Adua make a televised statement live to Nigerians since 44 days of his exile. At least, we, his children (so it should be) would know he is in good state. This leaves more to be desired. This is also part of the reason the Freedom of Information (FoI) Bill can never be passed, rather we continue to administer Oath of Secrecy on public servants, gag the press from giving more info. Itulah: @ Itulah I hope u r nt looking 4 trouble in NL. |
edoyad:Which side do you take, brother? |
Religion is obsessive. If u understand where these extremist muslims are coming from, u would pity them. I understand their problem. I pity their situation. These extremists and terrorists are not doing any different thing from what St Paul did b/4 he was converted - "serving God" Paul thought he was serving God by killing His (God's) people. He was passionionate about religion. He studied law and the scriptures and came out with 'relevant' areas in the scriptures, similar to what our extremist muslim brothers and sisters are using today: fighting for God, kiiling innocent people who do not have a hand in their agitations. Their problem is also routed from the Bible. Read Gen 16: 9 - 16, and Gen 27: 37 - 40. (You may read the whole chapters of Gen 16 & Gen 27). I feel for them in their ignorance. We should thank God that we were not born from the other side of the divide, where one can easily be brain-washed into carrying bombs in their body, waiting for the 'right' time to detonate them. It is only that grace of God that were are born into a different faith, saved by Him who died to render such old testamental practices no more do-or-die. If you don't know, muslims are practising the old testamental tenets, aside the prophets; for eg: tit for tat/an eye for an eye; polygamy; kill when fighting a just cause or fighting for God, punish any offender of the law, etc. The only major separation from Mosaic Law is probably circumcision. We should just pray for them, and ask God to forgive for THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!! Truely, if u see what I see, u would know that they THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!! |
- Sometime in June/July 2004, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo announced the consolidation package for Nigerian banks, which eventually kicked off in January, 2006 - Banks in Nigeria could then run head-to-head with some other banks outside our shores - There was money to lend and for the first time, consumer loans thrived, people could get auto loans and facilities to buy and pay for household items over a future period - Banks profits rose astronomically, resulting in shooting up of banks share prices - Bank CEOs started using private jets, and could afford security detail, akin to those of state governors - The watch-dog (WD) went to bed -Then came over-trading - Banks ventured into riskier areas, throwing caution to the wind: loans were given without collateral, and without a second way out - Corporate governance issues were neglected, as CEOS: o Approved loans for themselves o Approved loans above their limits o Avoided full disclosure of portfolios, and didn’t make statutory provisions as required by prudential guidelines o Went into spending spree and purchase of properties in choice areas using, now depositors’ money - The watch-dog was still sleeping, and erring banks/CEOS were not cautioned - Many banks, b/c of overtrading got hooked in liquidity mess & some were technically out of the clearing house in 2008/2009 - The watch-dog started getting too familiar with CEOs, and the bonding became more friendly, such that work could not be delineated from pleasure - He assisted PHB and supervised their aborted takeover of Springbank, and helped another bank CEO to oust his opponents on the board, in order to clear the grounds for the CEO - The WD (CBN) opened up the Expanded Discount Window (EDW) for more money to be taken by affected banks to solve their liquidity wahala - Then came a soldier, who is a Risk Manager and understands bank risks - He continued releasing funds to banks via the EDW, & was watching keenly - The new soldier sacked CEOs of banks, and introduced bailout to sinking banks - This was met with varied opinions - He Forced banks to start making provisions and respect corporate governance tenets - Huge bad loans were discovered & uncovered, some of which were given to cronies of CEOs - Attempts to recover these loans have yielded little or nothing - Huge losses were recorded, which ate into banks’ capital and shareholders’ funds, & he says it is good , claiming banks existed on bubble capital - It then became obvious that the banks cannot continue to carry their costs & still survive - Then started the tsunami of sacks, job losses and layoffs of bank workers - As at the time I lost count, over 10,000 jobs had been lost, and still counting… - The old boss has since retired to full time politics as a guber aspirant, promising to make Anambra State, the Dubai of Africa—sounds great!!!!!!! The question is: IS SOLUDO A HERO, OR A VILLAIN? |
We should learn to do the RIGHT things and also doing it RIGHT. Nobodyu is above the law. Fashola is a no-nonsense man, and I also believe they were warned. Does somebody expect t be to clean his bedroom ?Let's not make this an inter-religious affair. I don't want to talk about wht's inside, we shall soon know. Today, Most penticoastal churches now run: 1. Microfinance bank 2. Water company, 3. Private University (that the poor cannot attend; The white who showed us this light never asked us to pay a dime for education) 4. Manufacturing 5. Important all kinds of stuff Churching today is all about riches and money. As though blessing/prosperity is all about Naira & Kobo (sorry dollars & pounds). The poor are suffering, yet we parade ourselves as followers of Christ. Let's stop riddicling that wonderful man. He did a good job while on earth. We are calling him "a fool" for DELIBERATELY not doing certain things. Isn't the church digressing? What we doing today is JUDAISM and NOT Christianity. I hope many pastors will not lead so many innocent souls to hell. This thing has been bothering me; mayb I will create a new thread on it. May Christ forgive us IN JESUS' NAME. May the GATES OF HELL NEVER PREVAIL OVER THE CHURCH. |
Guys, Ceceilia Ibru is d only affected CEO dt I have pity for amongst all those rogues. U may not understand especially if u do not work in a Nigerian bank as a marketer. Listen to these: 1. She is the only CEO who never sacked her staff for targets 2. She was at the fore front of her compnay marketing and deposit mobilisations 3. She was a mother and really treated her staff as children. 4. She never subjected her people to the psychological trauma of inordinate target setting and do-it-or-shi out type of thing dt pbtains elsewhere (mayb y their payoff line is: EXPERIENCE PEACE). 5. Many bankers wanted to work for/with her (confirm) 6. She was one that appreciated the little effort from her employee (she paid more) 7. She praised them always (that is the highest of all Motivation) If u know any banker in Nigeria, especially marketers, ask them, they will confirm all these lines. HOWEVER, before folks misunderstnd me, crime is crime, no matter where it is coming from. And, the criminal MUST pay for it. But I tell you, shld there be a vote to release ONE, JUST ONE OF THESE CRIMINALS, THE MAJORITY VOTE WILL GO FOR IBRU. So, b/4 you crucify me judging from my 7-point agenda, please, peruse my final thought: The soul that sins shall die! This time, thru thelong arms of the law. |
@Poster Don’t listen to cynics. You need only one thing—your attitude! And that is located within you. Listen to these: ”Some men have thousands of reasons why they cannot do what they want to, when all they need is one reason why they can.” (Willis R. Whitney). THAT REASON IS A POSITIVE ATTITUDE! What lies before us and what lies behind us are small matters compared to what lies within us. And when we bring what is within out into the world, miracles happen. Henry David Thoreau. THAT THING THAT IS WITHIN YOU IS YOUR ATTITUDE. WHAT ONLY YOU (AND NO OTHER PERSON) HAS SOLUTION TO. NOT EVEN YOU IMAN OR YOUR PASTOR CAN RESCUE YOU HERE. If you are a Christian, please, read these words; if you are not, there is nothing wrong in gaining knowledge from any source: - The man with the negative attitude says: “Oh, that I had wings like a dove, I would fly away and be at rest” (Psalm 55:6) - But the one with positive attitude says “…I will mount up wings like the eagles… I will run and never get tired” (Isaiah 40:31) - “I can do all things through Christ who strengths me” – Philippians 4:13 Yes, you can! |
It is very important to remind us again how banking works. - This girl’s salary is probably N300,000 per annum (gross pay could take it higher than N300k). - She must have been told that her salary is so before she took the job. - For her employer (Bank) to pay her such salary, the bank MUST generate the excess of her salary as income (considering that the bank has other costs, including building, NEPA, security, stationery etc) NOW, LET US ANALYSE HER N200 MILLION (OBVIOUSLY FIXED DEPOSIT) TARGET - N200 million in 30 days will generate an income of about N328,767 monthly. How? -N200m is taken from a customer at the rate of say 13%p.a. (or above); The bank pays her income at a transfer pricing rate of say 15%p.a. (or thereabouts). -This leave a margin (spread) of 2%p.a. -Using ordinary Simply Interest calculation (N200,000,000 x 30 Days x 2%pa). This gives N329,000 per month, which is just the employee’s salary alone (other costs including cost of the car she cruises for marketing, fuel, Diesel are not yet factored in). The truth is that MOST PEOPLE WANT TO HAVE THEIR CAKE AND EAT IT, by reaping without sowing. But, life is not like that. MY ADVICE: If she thinks she cannot get deposits to pay for her salary, let her resign and get a job in the CIVIL SERVICE, where she would earn N40,000, have her peace of mind and have enough time for herself too. Using sentiments to judge real issues is not good. Anyway, we are all involved. |
phuck_NL:Dear Moderator, I sincerely hope there are no LUNATICS here. kosovo:I appreciate your comments above though but, we must act fast. This is a section most responsible NIGERIANS and Non-Nigerians may be interested in. We shouldn't make it look irresponsible. If it be possible, let us harken to the words of Bluetooth below; His advice will save us from both local and national embarrassments. ~Bluetooth:Whosoever, know PHUCK_NL shld advice him in the language he understnads and in the name of whatever he believes in to talk to people politely. |
