Who is this one that referred to monarchical system as primitive. Well, it could be in some places. I suppose your lack of sense of history caused you to make such statement. Monarchies play different roles even in modern society depending on circumstances and the historical pedigree of the monarchy itself. Can we refer to a monarchy like the Ooni of Ife as primitive and irrelevant in modern day Yoruba land. That's unlikely because Yoruba people are still tied to their spiritual traditions, for which the Ooni stand as the spiritual head. This globetrotte to connect people of Yoruba descent in different parts of the world. Point to a single governor in Southwest, a minister or a president in Nigeria that have made just one of such important trips.

Good, this is great news..

The Govt should force, encourage, train Nigerians to stop investing in abandoned houses, lands and hotels due to selfishness, being self centered and comfort zone mentality... it has never grown any nation.

Invest in factories that mop of thousands of employment, alongside more income than a dormant building or empty land can generate.
Problem is "where is the power or electricity to run the factories"? No serious investors will rely on generator to run a company.

Obviously you have been brainwashed to assume you are more evil and dangerous than an average white. Answer Yes or No to these questions:

-Have your people enslaved other at mass scale for economic benefits?

-Have your people exterminated others at mass scale using disease-laced clothes or drugs, invented bioweapons, arms, atomic bombs, etc.

-Have your people deliberately used violence or deceit to steal other people's land, cultural or items of heritage value.

-Have your people put the very existence of large population of people on earth at risk by poisoning nature with products that cause imbalance and sustainability problems. Just two countries are responsible for most of the products causing global warming.

So, if you have not done evil at this scale, just keep your mouth quiet and don't push what you are largely ignorant about.

Impossible for international transport to Nigeria. Maybe to a neighbouring country. That price you put their is just slightly higher for transport within US. It's like comparing the cost of air ticket from Houston to Newyork to the price for a flight from Houston to Lagos.

There’s no big deal about this story.

There is an alternative to request her remains to be sent over to Nigeria if they won’t grant a visa.

After all it is not a must that she should be buried in America.
Who will foot the bill? Do you think sending a dead body by airplane over a distance to location thousands of kilometers away is like sending commercial cargo. It will cost tens of thousands to get it as far as Nigeria. Even within the US it may cost few thousands.

Why your lots enrol 2 year kids in schools believing they need to start school without considering their mental state.

In the ideal world you can't even come close to having a conversation with my type. What is your own mental state if at this age you can't reason beyond some shallow sentiments. Who told you the high school election postions will be open to all students. Its probably only senior students that will be vying for the positions. Mr School Curriculum.

Mr "School Curriculum". At least we can see the outcome of your curriculum. How perfect your curriculum is and how you have been able raise kids who have become responsible citizens in the Nigerian society. How much they have done to build an organized society with respect for order and rule of law. They dont steal from others and they put the interest of the society above personal interests. They dont do yahoo, yahoo. The kids you trained into adulthood using your "School Curriculum" don't kill and maim for political office. I can see how perfect and worthy your "School Curriculum" is. And do you have "Extra Curriculum" too?

When they say democracy is a culture, you think you can just take a badly moulded adult to go and contest an election and then put the interest of the larger society above his own personal interests. Good things dont just happen. You have to create the conditions for it to happen. We claim we are practicing democracy and even borrow the American system but we like lieing to ourselves.

In America, high school elections is part of the high school culture and activities.

Reason you have a chaotic and disorderly society in Nigeria is because no one or institution impart the values on you. You take a 20 or 21-yr old university student or 40-yr old adult to go contest for election without him or her appreciating the values of fair play and electoral system. They will fight or maim to get elected because it's a new to them and its winners take all. I tire o. Nigeria don bad to the point that people no fit reason well again

The kids are way too young to be introduced into such. It's outrightly misplaced priorities. They will be voting on friendship lines which will be instilled in them till they grow up.

The development will also give them the sense that leadership is about just vying for position with top notch publicity. It does not instill in them the qualities required.

The school is just idle. Their much more extra curricular activities that could broaden their minds and dreams.

Even in the university and country's elections, same thing plays because of the misguided orientation.

Nigerians vote across love, religious and ethnic lines, very few consider what is being brought to the table cis of this false orientation. Why you see a Yahoo boy and Garage tout go into politics and win.
Another shallow statement again. These folks just lack the capacity to see the big picture.

You can't plant maize and harvest yam.

A school that has already violated urban planning laws will definitely have nothing to offer.

Wasting precious time of the young lads and misorientating them
Stupid shallow statement. Is this not how you raise and identify young generation of future leaders. Our children should learn to understand democracy from a young age. They will learn how to win the heart of the people rather than employing thugs or using money. They will also learn how to be tolerant of opposing views or opponents. If this culture is imparted from a young age, we won't have university students fighting one another over political seat in the student union or our adult politicians employing violent tactics to win votes. Democracy is a culture. You breed leaders, you don't create them and they dont make themselves.

There s no such thing as adulthood for girls. Ideally a lady ought to be with her family until she s married. There are dangers of living alone away from family. A sane society should frown at that. It is rare to find a sensible lady living alone, single.

my thoughts!
Then according to you, virtually all western societies are not sane because only broke and non-independent kids above 20-yr and upward live with their parents except they are from a different culture. I am Nigerian and already drummed it into the ears of my daughter that in our culture we prefer our girls to live with us until they leave for college, for a job or for marriage. But if she choose to leave home to live alone for any other reason, it must not be before she complete college. I have impart enough values in her to trust her sense of judgement. It depend on the way you raise your children.

Thank God , we do not experience such in Nigeria. With the kind of government we have here and the greed of the people, people for don die finish.
I actually dont share that opinion. One of the reasons caucasian wised up was because of the tough natural conditions they found themselves. You either wise up or die. Remember our forefathers in Nigeria were not nearly as corrupt as the present generation. So, they would have worked hard to come up with solutions that makes a functional society. Necessity is the mother of invention. The all year round warm hospitable conditions and generally non-hazardous conditions we found ourselves south of the Sahara just made us lazy. But before now, our forebearers like those of the ancient Egypt mastered virtually everything to build a society adored by all including the caucasian who trooped down from Greek and further to be students in Egypt. Same thing was obtained south of Egypt among the Nubians who were even more charcoal black than their cousins up north.

Everything cannot be politics of bitterness. Good people that can help your government should be considered irrespective of party affiliation.
It's that bitterness that is destroying both the north and south-east.

The north is imploding from within from terrorism, poverty, almajiri and others. While the east continue to suffer from its secessionist tendencies.

Family › Re: What’s The Hardest Part About Marriage That No One Ever Talks About? by ajl: 7:56pm On Mar 06, 2020
zed7:
Successful marriages are successful because one or both parties put sentiments aside. Marry whom you like, not necessarily love. Don't go for beauty or shape or wealth, go for compatibility, similar values, one whom you know will give you peace and you're good to go.
However a man or woman has to like his or her spouse. Having the best partner in the world without being attracted to them will not work.
As for the question, the hardest part of marriage is staying faithful for most men and remaining submissive for most women, especially this generation of women. It's not easy to be earning your own income and not be forced to disregard or challenge your husband from time to time.
Why should income be the criteria or reason to challenge your husband. This is simple ego trap. It is the strength of your point of view or belief that should determine if you will challenge your husband on an issue.

Is this an attempt to westernize or islamize our tradition further? Why not just modify the traditional system rather than modernizing it. This is done from a western and Islamic religion point of view. Leave culture and traditions for those who want to practice it. It's not by force to be a king.

Here is an interesting story. On a recent trip to Lagos, I wanted to buy sugarcane from this northern-looking chap and I told him I do not want the ones with red marks in it. The next thing he said in English in usual northern accent that "temperature is the causative agent", referring to the red marks. Now that caught the attention of me and my friend, and I talked to him further. He said he has an ND degree (cant remember the name of the institution now but its has "Agriculture" in it). And my friend said maybe he is one of the northerners that has farms in the north but migrate seasonally to Lagos to work.

There is a very popular burger joint that recently opened in Houston area called IN/OUT. The first day I saw a branch, I wanted to make a right turn to join the highway and there was so much traffic with a long line of cars that I thought were waiting to join the highway. Then someone told me the lane I was in was for cars queuing to buy burger. About 2hrs after, close to my neighborhood it was a similar story as I could see long queues of cars at another branch of the burger. It's been like this for about 2 months with constant queues. People say they sell the best burger in the US. But each time I see the queue my mind go back to Nija people, that if this happen in Nigeria people will claim there must be something the owner of the business must be doing "under-G". Do we even believe we could build great products or offer impressive service to the point that all and sundry will want a piece of such product/service? Probably not.
