How could Fashola refer to "money ritual" as a myth. Myth is something that is not real or not based on facts. |
NwaAmaikpe:Here is the answer to your numerous questions. Go study the belief of few ancients civilizations that existed for thousands of years before the invention of religion. Start with ancient Egypt, then the Sumerians and others. |
lastpage:It is already 5 years from your post and I can conclude that you are not only right about this company but that they are probably fraudulent. wanger50:That woman has commitment, which is what most Nigerian employees lack. Imagine earning that meager salary that you and your family can hardly survive on and still you are the first person to resume work ar 6:30 am every week days. That's commitment. I know her commitment is not to her employer but to those she is serving. The "poor" helpless students. That woman deserves an award. Especially looking at the fact that she is in a "war-torn" locality. She could have moved to her native state. |
Earlystar698:The problem start with you assuming in your own mind what probably doesn't exist. Often what people have is not hatred but fear. Let me give you an example. My mum used to have a jewelry business somewhere close to Balogun in Lagos. It's a business she was into for quite a while. Most of her neighbours are Igbo male traders with relatively few Yoruba women as well. Though she had good relationship with them because I used to visit her and I saw the camaraderie between her and the Igbo traders. In fact she would joke with me that one of them was her "husband". Usually she used to come home complaining how these Igbo traders used different tactics to price products in the market by deliberately driving down prices, and it's done in unison solely by Igbo traders. And in such situation, the Igbo traders dominate total sales in the market and when others can't cope they had no choice but give up their businesses. So, how do you expect people to feel in such situation? So, people often have fears and not hatred. My response to her then would be that they also needed to get organized and be more competitive. Thankfully, she survived and eventually retired from the business due to old age. |
Last August I visited a property bequeathed to me and my siblings and on the opposite side of the building in front of another house are several hausa speaking youths with bikes. I learn they congregate there because they make purchases from someone that live in the house. But the problem is they created a lot of nuisance by leaving wastes all over the street and in the drainage. One of them even moved close to the building where I was standing and dropped pure water bag in the open drainage. I avoided challenging them to take care of their wastes because I know how dangerous and violent an arguement with an Okada rider can become. They act as mob. I simply looked away and moved on. The most annoying part is that most of them are not likely to be Nigerians. I really do not have issues with foreigners coming into the country to seek greener pasture because I am also a foreigner where I currently reside. But here the authorities know "A-to-Z" about me. From my address and all vital data. It's sad Nigeria is a country where anyone can just walk into, buy Okada and start running business using resources tax payers paid for but is not contributing any tax to improve such resources. This is not an anti-ethnic rant. Nigerians are in serious danger because some people want to overrun the country at all cost. And the influx of criminals from the Sahel region is part of this danger. |
"Investors who backed motorcycle-based ride-hailing startups in the state like ORide (OPay), MAX and Gokada – who are also affected by the ban – would now be counting their losses. What it means: Other startups operating in the state and the country at large, irrespective of the industries they play in, would now face an uphill task convincing investors to fund them. A trend that may emerge in the Nigerian venture capital space is a preference for small-ticket short-term investments and profit-taking over long-term investments." I am only going to refer to the section of the write up I am going to critique. Investors have the responsibility of studying historical policies of the government for the sector they want to invest in. Why would investors put their money in a sector that has an history of government ban or sanction? Even if they decide to go ahead with investment in the sector, they ought to have a plan B in case a ban come into effect. This so-called investor do not understand the market they put their money. They took a risk without doing proper "homework". I heard one of the CEO talk about switching to delivery services. No point crying. Move on! Aside this, I have issues in venture capital funds that is totally dominated by foreigners and foreign CEOs. Meaning that these so-called Nigerian startups are not truly Nigerian and most of the revenue would go out of the country. Let's continue to fool ourselves. |
Gilgil:Lagos assembly? Are they any different? They only represent themselves. It's all "arrangee". You are fooling yourselves if you those pot-bellied men and women are there to represent you or the people. Their stomach infrastructure come first and last. |
Discombulator:But this individual is stating a fact. Nigeria has never been a great country. Do we have to fool ourselves. Nigeria has the potential to be a great country. That's all. |
You are all losers. When Omoyele Sowore was fighting for you all and needed your support, where were you? Now, the elitist government he was fighting against for your sake have slammed its hammer on you! Feel the brunt. Gbam))))) |
solmus:But where are the roads? The major problem with Lagos is road network is poor and undeveloped. The people in govt past and present don't measure up in terms of vision for what Lagos truly deserve. Lagos is a problem-solver paradise. First there need to be a tolled 6 or 10-Lane highway with non-tolled feeder roads on both side that run the entire length of the state that then feeds into existing highways. I am not talking of Lagos-Badagry type of highway, though it can be connected to it at the western end of Lagos. They are talking about 4th Mainland Bridge. For what purpose? |
Charmingrascal:It would have been better if they are just Hausa like any Nigerians. But challenge is that a lot of hausa-speaking foreigners are among them. |
Most people don't understand the fact that Okada ban in Lagos has more to do with security than any other logical reasons. The moment you have influx of foreigners you cannot separate from natives from certain part of your country and there is no way to identify who is who, you have wahala on your hand. Now combined that with influx of Fulani herdmen from other Sahel countries into Nigeria in order to cause mayhem. Nigerian masses are in a state of "sleep". Aside from Boko Haram, there are external forces that are attempting to tear Nigeria apart in order to gain total control of the whole of West Africa and ultimately Africa once again. You all dont have a clue. Keep sleeping. |
payperpost:Are they any different? I get story o. Make I just keep quiet for now because I still dey pull their legs. Only reason I got involved with them be say dem get to offer something (not money though) in return to improve what I am deploying and my only hope be say dem go make money too (not bribe but revenue). I no really send dem because I was 99% ready to deploy the tech to the public but I told myself say why not try these govt so that I no go talk later say "I should have.." So, I no really send dem. Please my people, if there is anything you are doing in Nigeria that involving the govt will not add value to it, then don't go to them. You can do such privately. At least, Nigeria is still a free-market, so far no law or regulation is broken. |
gaskiyamagana:That's what I thought too. I think doing things privately in Nigeria without involving governments is the only way to get things done successfully. Problem is most of our people have a mentality that seem to rely too much on waiting on government for doing most things. |
Sirjamo:Na who Sandhurst military training help? Na that we go chop? |
overstay:I am responding to this because of what you stated in your comment that: "it is because of their long distant fulani black arab relatives who are destroying your everything black about you including removing history from your education that" I wonder who authorized the deliberate removal of history from secondary school subject list. But I read online that Buhari gave a directive for return of history to secondary school subject list.. Whoever orchestrated removal of history from classes is evil. This is a conspiracy. |
This is what happen when the masses have no sense of history. The fact that students are not taught in primary or secondary schools about slavery and the people involved in it means they have no idea that such things could repeat itself in certain circumstances. An average arab is evil and exploitative. The arabs started slavery before the white man got into it. In fact, it was the arabs that taught the whiteman how to trade in slaves. |
Lexusgs430:If they did their homework well, going precedents they ought to know that a ban is possible. |
Most Nigerians are mentally colonized. An ordinary country acting God. Is like ordering your subjects around. The wool covering your eyes will come off at some point. It's because of low standard you have all place yourself and country. Do you come into this world to do follpw-follow? |
I visited Lagos several months ago and my conclusion after the trip was that there was no governing authority in the state based on the level of chaos and disorder that I saw. I was born in Lagos myself and I spent my entire childhood and adult life there until the late 90s. I will be visiting again in some weeks and I am looking forward to the trip based on the expectations that some level of sanity would prevail this time. The level of madness of Okada and Tricycles riders at the airport road/Ajao estate intersection is from another world. As one try to avoid oncoming vehicles, okada and Tricycles would be coming at you from different direction. It's a bad deal and an eyesore for all the hotels in that area. Hope this will last for good. |
Ijaya123:You guys are simply lazy. I visited Lagos last August and stayed in a hotel around Agungi in Lekki. I normally went to Megachicken by the 2nd toll gate to eat. I usually trekked back and forth. And that was like 5km in total. By the time I returned to my base, I already lost some weight. I loved it, and the breeze was cool too. Only problem was there was no good walkway. |
ImagineNation:Opportunity to stay fit and stay alive. |
LesbianBoy:Funny I am reading this while in a vehicle on a feeder road that lie along one of the many freeways in Houston, and here with my "korokoro" eyes am seeing camping tents under the bridge at very cold temperature. So, are these holiday campers enjoying life under the bridge or homeless people. Leave that your "there are no poor people in America" story. Poverty is everywhere. It's just a question of proportion. |
DavidEsq:So, the guy in slippers look like someone poverty touched? Please, what's your definition of poverty....? |
Mispreeti:When it come to sex and saving his child from an approaching lion, most men will take chances if they could just "pour" into the opposite sex within next 30 seconds assuming their brain calculate that it will take the lion 1 minute to reach the child. So deal with this issue at once or else you could be raped. And worse part is your sister will blame you. |
Blindersoff:If he fix insecurity, maybe we can change our mind thereafter. |
SoNature:You both are saying the same thing. Obvious you did not comprehend the point commenter made. Because they have not bombed Lagos does not mean they won't in the future. And should people and govt wait for that to happen. The chaos in Lagos is mind blowing. Lagos is like an open air asylum and you can't tell the difference between the same and the insane. |

If you still want these criminals on the road, it's your choice. Last year I went to our property somewhere in Lagos, and there were several hausa speaking youths that congregated and left so much wastes in the drainage. I was told that it's their usual meeting point because they come to that area to make purchases. I couldn't even approach them to take care of their waste and never to congregate by the property again because I know how deadly they are. I simply looked away. Once a young man was lynched to death by Okada riders after false accusation. |
Larryhoover:Which investors are you talking about? I do not regard rideshare or Okada-rideshare companies as investors. Do they really invest any money in the economy? No. All they do is pay a fee to the government and open an office, do little advertisement. They don't buy or own any equipment or vehicle of their own. It is people vehicles/Okada and time that make money for them. In fact, I prefer that this industry should be open only to Nigerian companies or investors. No foreigners. Once they make their money, they repatriate the scarce foreign currency to their home countries. They are having a easy ride here. |
onlinetrader:You are right about that. Most especially those rickety and deadly container trucks that have sent many to their early graves. |
casdoruche:What course did you do and which university? |
