mflexy8: These people u listed used it cos then Bb was the only company offering end2end encryption. Same reason they were banned by the Saudis n Indians. Since then others have caught up. Take a look at the kinda security offering on wp8 or ios6 n reaccess the wisdom of Ur post. Actually I SMH for u. BTW my post clearly mentioned Naija pips. Can't you read? The world is bigger than a few digits called pin, ok. Go out... read n explore.
And the Google director that uses a BB is also because that is the only phone allowed by the company, right?

Tell me about the security on ios 6 when it gets there FIPS certification. And I am sure you know that the world is so much bigger than any i-this or i-that.

mflexy8: Never have I seen so many have their ego mangled in a ruthless way as the write up did to my Naija pips. I recalling countless times I received insults cos I don't have a BB even though I had costlier n more effective phones. The bandwagon mentality of Nigerians is nauseating. By my projections, 70% of Naija suffer from very low self esteem. That is what made the Bb popular. An I.d to social cool. Bleep that. For all the pips who have been saying their Bb is for pride n shit... Am talking to you! The way u carry yourself should give you pride NOT THE SH1T YOU ARE CARRYING. Shoutout to all who have remained true to their style. You re the true stars, let the rest copy.
Since the US President had to have a special BlackBerry made for him, does that qualify him as suffering from bandwagon mentality too? Sorry since the US, UK, Israel, Russia, Iran, Australian governments all use Blackberries we can say they are fucktards too and suffer from low self esteem. SMH.

mj: As an App Developer, I follow the latest news on technologies to know what is selling in the market, to be sincere with you blackberry is not there, I use a blackberry phone, but I find myself always wanting to use my friend's Android phone. Apple Store and Android market is the main thing, where developers like me get to make lots of cash selling apps, BlackBerry 10 will be out by January, RIM is falling, the only thing that can save RIM is if Blackberry 10 makes a hit, but I can tell you now that Samsung are looking into buying RIM if Blackberry 10 fails since it will lead to the company's total collapse in the smartphone market. I have look at surveys on smartphones, but to be sincere with you BlackBerry is not regarded as one, pls tell me what are the smart things that Blackberry can do?
Why don't you share with me what the iPhone or SG3 can do that the BB cannot do? That would be a fair start.

hustla: I think the worst ever decision I made tech-wise was dumping my iPhone 3G in 2008 for a Blackberry 8520 (Curve 2) ..I felt like crying..no 3D games, slow browser, annoying battery that becomes hot when 3G is on (Bold 2/Bold 4 and Torch1 that I used) ..asides the data plan, unlimited downloads (I still downloaded rap albums of about 400mb wif etisalat 3G 2day) and compressed data, blackberry z utterly worthless..I mean very worthless..
I have two batteries and I still have to carry about a charger :/ smh4 dem..

The most annoying part is the way they churn out fones stupidly,no innovation,nothing.. What's the difference between Curve2/Curve 3,Bold2/Bold3/Bold4, Torch1/Torch 2 Storm 1/Storm 2, Bold1/Bold5/Bold6 ssmh!

Selling my Blackberry on nairaland soon,Tumababa will get me a 4S.. wink
Moving on
My guy, the worst decision you made was caused by you. You left an iPhone 3GS for a Curve2! You are the architect of your own unhappiness. What you did is like leaving a Copy-class mercedes for a Peugeot 404 and expecting the same performance.

When you wanted a BB, did you not see the Bold or the Torchhuh By yourself, you cast aspersions on your claim of being tech savy.

pDude: It will surprise you that here in US, nobody uses blackberry. The only blackberry phone I ever saw here was used by a Mexican dude who came to repair my refrigerator.

Android and especially iphones rules the US market.
It might interest you to know that a Director in Google uses a BB, he is american. The US President uses a BB, and the last time I checked, he wasn't Mexican.

Pray, share with us the model of BlackBerry that you used. I laugh when people who own a curve want to compare it to the iphone or SG3.

Get a 9900 or 9810 and do the comparison, then share the results.

ocelot2006: Visitor permits? Really? Has LAGOS state seceeded from Nigeria? Is it now a country of its own?

I honestly hope this new law on plate numbers is totally scrapped or overuled by the FG.
Unfortunately for you, and thankfully for most of us, the FGN does not have such powers to overrule a law validly passed by any State Assembly so long as it does not contravene the constitution.

What amazes me about all this, is the display of ignorance. What Fashola is going to be implementing is an already existing requirement of the the Police Act, he is only saying that the Lagos HA would now codify it into a sate law.

The difference between Lagos and other states is just that Fashola receives too much press praise and being favoured by dem also. Amechi still remains the best gov cos u don't experience flood anywhere in PH now cos he constructed deep underground gutters. Fashola is working as far as press is concerned
I am sure you are joking about there being no flooding in PH, right?

EducationRe: Lagos Public Schools Shut, As Teachers Begin Strike by Akainzo(m): 10:51am On Sep 25, 2012
timbros: Thanks for answering that. So the National in the name indicates that FGN owns it, abi? And didnt u say in ur earlier post that the Union agreement was with FGN?
If FGN can map out N22.8M for National Theatre, why cant they as well pay teachers their 27.5% increase?

Now who needs to heed #ThinkBeforeCommenting adivse?
My guy, you do need to take that your advice seriously. You are commenting on a thread about Lagos State teachers going on strike, and not FGN teachers being on strike. Paul John said the teachers should consider that Lagos govt has other projects running, you commented on his post with your 22.8M remark and advised him. I merely pointed out your fallacy as you are clearly not in tune with the discussion.

When you can differentiate between FGN, State and local governments, you'd be able to better contribute meaningfully to discussions.
EducationRe: Lagos Public Schools Shut, As Teachers Begin Strike by Akainzo(m): 10:13am On Sep 25, 2012
timbros: National theatre is owned by who? FGN or State?
Na wa o! None of both! it is owned by Gokana local govt in Rivers State. Even with the National in the name, you still dey ask the question grin
EducationRe: Lagos Public Schools Shut, As Teachers Begin Strike by Akainzo(m): 10:01am On Sep 25, 2012
timbros: And what are u saying? Doesnt govt know of these other projects before signing the increment agreement? Isnt the teachers patient enough? This is an agreement reached in 2008/2009 i.e 3-4yrs ago and govt is yet to pay the full 27.5% increase... And ur here saying they should consider... Which project sef if i may askhuh Like spending N22.8M on typewriters? Is that the project?

#ThinkBeforeCommenting
That agreement was between the Union and the FGN, and the 22.8M on typewriters, is that a Lagos State budget or FGNhuh You do need to take your own advice.
EducationRe: Lagos Public Schools Shut, As Teachers Begin Strike by Akainzo(m): 9:56am On Sep 25, 2012
jedisco: Why sign agreements you cannot keep?
First it was with Doctors, now its with teachers.
But its OK to alot of people because its Fashola.

Perhaps he should employ his usual bullying tactic and sack all of them.
I'm waiting for someone to come and say they are greedy.
Why are you quick to judge? The body that got all this started has not even paid its own workers and here you have Lagos State teachers that are supposed to be ancilliary to the FGN and teachers union.

Please note this quote in the news when you read it,
"On the 27.5 per cent allowance, Alogba said despite an agreement with the Federal Government on the need to prevail on the state governments to implement the TSS, some states have failed to do so. Alogba told the minister: “We have restrained our state wings from embarking on an unpalatable action because of your earlier intervention and promise. We implore you to call the states concerned to order before the schools reopen, failure of which teachers will down tools. Meanwhile, charity must begin at home. It calls to question, defeating all logic, that even the Federal Government has not paid our teachers in unity schools the 27.5 per cent teachers’ peculiar allowance.
http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=99719:strike-cripples-lagos-public-schools&catid=1:national&Itemid=559

At the rate things are going, the bubble would soon burst and the positives would be that we would get a true federal structure, at least within the labour market. This practice of the FGN signing an agreement with a union because it can pay based on its income, and then the unions expecting the states to pay the same would need to stop. Every employer/employee realtionship is different and should be allowed to get to its own equilibrum. Yes, we can benchmark but to demand parity is not acceptable.

texazzpete: kai, this Akainzo no sabi anything.

Abeg 4llerbuntu come and help me educate this fellow. Because two cameras are 5MP, the clown thinks they are the same thing grin

After trying to drill into his head that with modern smartphones, the phone becomes the Wifi Source he's still floundering in the dark.

Abeg, I have no time to respond to your drivel point-by-point but just FYI, here's a link to show you how you can easily tether your iPhone to your ipad via bluetooth

http://www.macworld.com/article/1159258/bluetooth_tethering.html

I'm done with you.
If you are smart enough to read, you would find out that Bluetooth tethering is different from WiFi hotspot/source (that is the distinction I have been trying to hammer into your skull since!). The iPhone/iPad implementation is definitely not the standard. Just to let you know, before I replied your earlier ignorant post, I did actually go through the steps for what was stated above in the article. It could only connect an iPhone. I tried a Nokia E7, a Samsung Android and a BlackBerry, none was able to connect to its Bluetooth tethering.

Now, the PlayBook on the other hand, could connect to ANY source that support the industry standard Bluetooth stack.

Thank God that you have accepted that the PlayBook has a 5MP/3MP while the 5MP/VGA cameras, and you still want to claim iPad better! You are a clown o!!
PhonesRe: Samsung, HTC To Block iPhone 5 Sales In US & EU Using LTE Patents by Akainzo(m): 5:50pm On Sep 21, 2012
texazzpete: Just FYI, my dear m0r0n, since iOS 4 the iPad and iPhone can share and connect to internet via bluetooth. I stress on Wifi because it's more efficient.
Stop trying to wriggle out of this on a technicality and inject some logic into your arguments.
You claim is Blackberry + Playbook Wifi = internet.
I counter with iPad + iPhone/Android/WP = Internet.
And you're whining?
You my friend are quite daft to say the least. The premise has since been that supposing there were no WiFi sources and if your claim above is what you’ve known since, then the money for your education has been wasted. So the PlayBook ($149) + Any Smartphone ($300) > IPad ($649) + Any Smartphone ($300) grin You deserve to be slapped!
However, you lied (or as usual, ignorant), the Bluetooth stack on the iPad, even on iOS 6, does not support anything other than Audio and HID devices.

texazzpete: Well yes. I sold off the 9930 to get a 9900 because there are more leaked firmware available for it. On all the attempts to get a decent battery life on my phone, i'd been advised on crackberry that it COULD be a device issue. I've traded up devices in the past to see if I could eliminate that loophole.

Have I now educated you, dunce?
Nope ignoramus, you have just showed your ignorance/stupidity. So because it COULD be a bad device, you went ahead to buy 4 of them grin grin Check on Crackberry.com and you’d see all the possible ways to save on battery, one simple one being upgrade to the 7.1 OS.

texazzpete: ...because at that point I was disputing your assertion that the Playbook could run all android apps perfectly? Is your attention span that short? I've noticed you struggle with remembering things you've said before. You may need to see a doctor for that.
I see how you sidestepped atoning for the white lie I caught you in (when you said i claimed to have only used a PlayBook for one day)
Again, trying to be clever by half, you posted your statement before mine and I only replied to yours, how then were you stating the non-stability as a response to my post! You need to rejig your brain, too much craftiness with ignorance makes it gets jumbled up.
Oh I noticed the one day was a slip, it was made by someone else, so I accepted but if you need the glory that I made a slip on that, then here goes. Sorry the ‘use for one day’ was an error, it was not you that made it.

texazzpete: What does this have to do with ANIMATIONS, you dolt?!! When all the assets and textures are loaded up, the one that loaded up in 2 seconds is not necessarily going to be faster than the one that loaded up in 3 seconds. What has the game assets have to do with animations?

Since the ipads have much better GPUs, there's no way 3d performance can be inferior...unless the software was poorly optimized.

I do not appreciate how I teach you these things and you show a shameful lack of appreciation.
How has loading up and running animations got to do with running games! I can’t believe you are that daft. Sorry, I can’t go this route to explain something that minute to you.
The only people you can teach this particular knowledge to are kids in kindergarten. SMH

texazzpete: Are you INSANE?! How can a splash screen transition displayed in a split second be the same as the boot up time of the OS? When booted up, clicking the settings icon opens it up pronto. I suggest you go beg someone to let you try out his iPad or even an Android device to see for yourself.

You're a tech illiterate, i swear.
Well, seeing as you know nothing about OS, compilers and coding, I can only shake my head at your ignorance. FYI, I probably have more tech gadgets than you’d be able to dream about.
If you are ever in PH and would love a demonstration of what a tech house looks like, send me a PM.

texazzpete: On the Nokia phone, download joikuspot, install and share your internet connection with the ipad via Wifi grin. This is an unlikely scenario.

Not everyone is a n00b like you.
Sure, but you seem not to be able to wrap your head around what is a WiFi source! Haba, what you just provided is a WiFi service to the iPad. I have consistently asked you, what would you do if there are NO WiFi sources? Haba is that hard to understand, NO WiFi sources!!!

texazzpete: No amount of obfuscation will allow you get away with the idiocy of bringing up 2010's iPhone 'Antennagate' issue (which wasn't nearly as prevalent as you think) in an ipad vs playbook discussion. You should be ashamed of yourself for that doltish diversion.
I have dealt with this earlier; you lack any analytical abilities thus even a conjecture is lost on you.

texazzpete: So the HDMI adapter is a few dollars more...obviously cost of the HDMI cable is not factored in because it is ubiquitous, you dumbass. If you don't have at least 2 HDMI cables hanging around your house already, you're living in the stone age.
Next thing you'll tell me you 've still got an old CRT TV
From the above, you are even more silly. So if the HDMI cable is ubiquitous, and the cost of the mini HDMI is still far less than the iPad adapter (minus the HDMI cable) and your small brain still can’t figure out which is cheaper? Haba!!! Seriously, you do need some senses slapped into you.

texazzpete: So instead of wireless Airplay, playing Real Racing 3 on my 47 inch LED TV, i'm supposed to by a 30 ft HDMI cable, snake it across my parlor just to sit comfortably on my favorite chair and use my tablet?

Shame the playbook's 'multitasking prowess' did not translate to sales until they had to cut the price in desperation cheesy
Shame that you still do not understand maths, how much is the Airport Express for you to use AirPlay? Or how much is the AppleTV or other AirPlay compatible devices? My total cost for that same gameplay would be $10 compared to yours and I can use ANY HDTV for that matter 
The Toyota Corolla is the highest selling car in the world; does that make it the best car in the world? Sales can be all about the marketing. Check out the video here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdIWKytq_q4

texazzpete: iPad 3 has a better primary camera and a worse secondary camera than the Playbook.
What do you mean by 'stereos'. Lol. this is how you know empty heads that copy and paste stuff from Crackberry or GSMArena without understanding what they are copying.
What you meant to talk about was the speakers, with the Playbook having stereo speakers and the ipad making do with a mono speaker.
You my friend are a certified dunce. The best camera in the iPad 3 is a 5MP which is what the PlayBook has had since 2011, the secondary one is no better than a standard VGA is any Chinese phone. So where is the iPad spotting a better primary camera?
So the ‘stereo’ on the PlayBook, is it Not better than on the iPad? A piece of advice, I used the colloquial version of it as I wasn’t sure you’d understand, but at least you went to use google and thankfully you accepted that the PlayBook is better.

texazzpete: Funny how you tactfully ignored GPU, build quality, thinness, battery life, screen resolution, screen color gamut, better contrast and several other areas where the playbook is severely outclassed grin
Hmm, with the more advanced GPU, the PlayBook still loaded and played that iOS game faster and better, so you go figure.

texazzpete: In summary, you bought a cheap tablet and I know you're desperate to believe it's the better buy...but it sure isn't anywhere near the top of the line Android and iOS tablets...which is why even at the low price points it is being murdered by the likes of the Kindle fire.
Let me help you, the highest selling Android table, the Kindle Fire, is a knock-off scaled down and limited capabilities version of the BlackBerry PlayBook. So what does that tell youhuh
PhonesRe: Samsung, HTC To Block iPhone 5 Sales In US & EU Using LTE Patents by Akainzo(m): 12:57am On Sep 20, 2012
texazzpete: This is 2012..can it be that this fellow does not know what Mobile Hotspot is?
With any modern smartphone, you do not need a Mifi to set up a wireless network. The phone sets up the Wireless Access point which your tablet connects to.
As stated in my previous post above, you simply lack analytical capabilities.
You were the one that introduced the MiFi to the discussion, I only reminded you that you were trying to be clever by half when you simply triedf to forget that one still needs a smartphone.
texazzpete: if you take out smartphones (note that this includes Blackberries too) and Wifi, there's no way the Wifi playbook can connect to the internet.
Let me repeat again, the Bluetooth of any phone can be used to connect the internet because it can be used as a Dial-Up-Network. That is what a PlayBook can connect to which other tablets cannot use. There aren umerous feature phones that have Bluetooth DUN capabilities.

texazzpete: I think your confusion stems from your ignorance as to what wireless tethering/portable hotspot is in Android or iOS devices. hell, even BBOS 7 devices running 7.1 firmware have this feature.
I see that you are still stuck on wireless as this was the age you knew of smartphones or mobile internet connectivity. For your information I have consistently mentioned Bluetooth DUN and you have always missed it. Abeg GO AND READ!!!

texazzpete: Either way, I have changed BBs repeatedly trying to get good battery life...each time selling off the old one.
You are a certified dunce! You sell off the old 9900, to buy a new 9900 in search of better battery life huh grin grin grin

texazzpete: 1) Where did I claim the Android player is an app? it's a runtime that was not all that stable in the early 2.0 release. I'm running the 2.1 beta and it's more stable, less Android app crashes.
2) Where did I claim i'd used the playBook for only one day? Is your paranoia getting the best of you now?
How come you conveniently left out your experience on the 2.1 and went gung-ho that the OS was unstable while playing Android portshuh

texazzpete: The developer says it loads up faster. nothing about 'smoother'.
And if it loads the animations faster, the app would become sluggish right? SMH

texazzpete: I talked about iOS boot times of less than 30 seconds, nearly 5 times quicker than the Playbook and you're pointing me to an article that talks about iOS using a splashscreen for a split second to provide an illusion that an app has launched instantly. How does this apply here? Are you sure you aren't inebriated?
Just to show you that the same is employed during boot up. If it is employed during app load times, it is employed during boot up. When booted up in 30 seconds, click the WiFi settings and see what happens grin

texazzpete: That scenario is only possible when your smartphone isn't with you. In such a scenario, Bluetooth will not be available either...and thus neither the ipad or the Playbook will be able to connect to the Internet.
Let me humor you, ok my smartphone is not available, but a colleague has a Nokia with Bluetooth. The PlayBook can use that to get to the internet while the iPad cannot. It is that simple.

texazzpete: Antennagate was solved with the iPhone 4S....and i struggle to understand why you're bringing up the iPhone in an ipad vs Playbook argument. This is veering towards idiocy.
You’d struggle really, you lack anything that is seemingly beyond 1+1. Read my post carefully, you questioned why anybody would want to use an option simply because it doesn’t exist on the iPad, so I pointed you to the previous isheep nonsense that was displayed during antennagate. Hope you can now wrap your brain around it now.

texazzpete: You'll need a mini HDMI cable. That can run you as much as the HDMI adapter for the iPad.
Na wa for your lies o! Check amazon.com, the costly Mini HDMI cable is $6.81 while the cheapest iPad HDMI adapter is $25.62 and that is just the adapter, then you’d still need to buy the cable! You do need to go brush up on your maths.

texazzpete: Glad you mentioned Modern Combat 3. Just released on the Playbook, has been out for AGES on iOS and Android. When are you guys gonna get NOVA 3 anyway? cheesy
If it was never released, it wouldn’t have mattered to me. However, it is of no consequence as from a marketing point of view I’d expect it to come to iOS earlier than the PlayBook.

texazzpete: Since I can't envision a scenario where i'd be hunched near my TV with a cable running from the Playbook in my hand to my TV, I cannot say i'm feeling any Envy. I can use Airplay and lean back in my house, 10ft away from the TV and mirroring my screen and content.
Basically, doing what? Hunched over the iPad while the screen is showing what, a movie in the 4:3 format on a HDTV or playing games on it that you still need to play on the iPad?
You do feel the envy, you just console yourself by refusing to know of 30 feet connectors and the beauty of the PlayBook’s multitasking abilities.

texazzpete: GPU: iPad PowerVR SGX 543 MP4. PlayBook SGX 540.
The iPad 3 CRUSHES, SMASHES, OBLITERATES and ANNIHILATES the seriously ageing SGX 540 in the Playbook
Screen resolution is no contest.
Better cameras in the iPad 3.
Are you serious...or are you just trolling?
Better cameras? Is it the front camera or the back ones? Abeg go read the specs of the cameras, and while at it check out the stereos on the two of them.
PhonesRe: Samsung, HTC To Block iPhone 5 Sales In US & EU Using LTE Patents by Akainzo(m): 12:07am On Sep 20, 2012
texazzpete: BWAHAHAHAHA

4llerbuntu, get a load of this clown. What possible scenario do you envisage where you have Bluetooth and no Wifi?
Without a Blackberry phone, the Playbook Wifi cannot connect to the internet without Wifi. With a Blackberry you Bridge via Bluetooth. With an Ipad you use your phone's mobile hotspot.

Why is this extremely simple point so difficult for you to comprehend?
You are indeed a dunce, a certified dunce!
There is a world of difference between WiFi and Bluetooth, and the two do NOT have to exist together. Before WiFi became prevalent, we had Bluetooth providing internet connectivity to phones.
You really do need to read up to clear your ignorance. The mobile hotspot can be used by ANY WiFi device (iPad/PlayBool/Android Tablet, etc), however, ONLY the PlayBook can provide connectivity via the Bluetooth.

The only thing I can deduce from your statement above is that you lack analytical skills. Do something about it!
PhonesRe: Samsung, HTC To Block iPhone 5 Sales In US & EU Using LTE Patents by Akainzo(m): 4:20pm On Sep 19, 2012
texazzpete: Nexus 7 + Etisalat Mifi is cheaper than Playbook + Blackberry. So your point does not stand. grin
You are simple trying to be clever by half. The above will be a Nexus 7 + Etisalat MiFi + a smartphone which would be greater than a PlayBook + a smartphone!

Except of course you want to say that your ideal person would have a tablet plus a MiFi without owning a phone

texazzpete: ...and any Android or iPhone can create a portable hotspot with your existing data bundle...which you can use on your tablet. If you own an Android smartphone, you can get a smartphone plan and share with your tablet.
Really dude, you need to read up on this technology stuff instead of regurgitating talking points from Crackberry.
Take your own advice, read up. There is a difference between Bluetooth DUN and WiFi hotspot. However, like I said, irrespective of where you get the WiFi, portable hotspot, WiFi hotspot or MiFi, once those are out, the PlayBook is the ONLY ”WiFi ONLY” tablet that can have another means of getting to the internet.

texazzpete: Actually, I get things done at work on my Desktop...or at home on my laptop. My BB is essential for BBM in Nigeria. The whole 'getting things done' line is serious BS anyway. Thanks to the more prolific app library on iOS and Android, most people would actually get work done better on these devices.
Yet you have bought Four Bold 9900shuh huh You must be swimming in money that you do not need. Or are you scamming with the BBs?

texazzpete: For example, there's an AutoCAD mobile app on iOS and Android that would allow Architects view, display and edit their CAD drawings on the go. You can't do that on the Playbook.
Sure you can’t as the AutoCAD mobile app is not available on the PlayBook.

texazzpete: What I actually said was

The ability to sideload Android apps is handy, but there are way too many restrictions and many apps will not run. The Android player in the playbook is notorious for stability problems...
Please show me where i said the OS was unstable or that the OS was unstable because apps would not run. Can you not see the 'period' there?
If you have difficulties comprehending simple written English, I can dig up my old, dog-eared copy of Brighter Grammar or Queen Primer and send to you.
My guy, the Android player is not an app, it is an integral part of the PlayBook OS thus you are therefore referring to the PlayBook OS. I can’t believe that you know all this by only using the PlayBook for only One day as you claimed! Haba!!!!!
Please do not send to me, apparently you haven’t read it since you bought it!

texazzpete: The developer never claimed the PlayBook version runs smoother. That's just you caught in a white lie there.
There's no reason for me to completely accept the video at face value and believe him when he says he made no optimisations to the code.
You need to watch the video again and listen better. Faster and smoother is why iOS ate dust.

texazzpete: Lol! What 'research'? What 'gimmicks'? All everyone knows is that the iPad boots up to a usable state in 30 seconds. The Playbook? 2 - 3 minutes.
Why don't you post your 'research' here instead of trying to pull off a dodge here?
Start from here, then proceed to learn more: http://www.geek.com/articles/mobile/how-ios-tricks-you-into-thinking-it-is-fast-20120531/

texazzpete: Standalone, both the Wifi iPad and the wifi Playbook will have no internet connection. You NEED a Blackberry phone to bridge. If phones are allowed, I can EASILY use my Galaxy S III's data plan on the iPad via wireless hotspot. So how exactly will the Playbook 'get things done' better than an iPad?
As stated earlier above, all that you mentioned are WiFi implementations, what happens when none of these WiFi implementations is available?

texazzpete: There are over 250000 iPad specific apps on the Appstore. There are less than 100000 tablet optimised Android apps. Why should an iPad be missing out for not being able to run Android apps? You've said so many silly things tonight, but this takes the cake.
I am not surprised, before Apple solved the antennagate issue, many of you questioned why we needed to hold our phones with the right hand. Continue with your tomfoolery.

texazzpete: I've got a cheapo HDMI adapter for my iPad, works very well. I also have the capability to wirelessly mirror my entire iPad screen via Airplay. Android Tablets can share media via DLNA. The Blackberry Playbook does not even support DLNA!!!
I don’t need a cheapo HDMI adapter, HDMI out is native to the PlayBook. And much more, I can even have a 2 screen setup with what is on the HDMI being different from what is showing on the PlayBook screen! That way I can be showing a movie via the HDMI out and still be playing Modern Combat 3 on the PlayBook screen. Don’t worry, I can see the envy on your face grin
Yes, the iPad does not have DLNA just like the PlayBook as well as many of the Android tablets.

texazzpete: Finally, you boasted that the Playbook matches or exceeds the specs of nearly every other tablet out there. Thank God you yourself have posted screendumps showing the inferiority of the Playbook on GPU, screen resolution, battery life, etc...etc. Your photos tell a different tale from your boasts...are you sure you really don't want that Brighter Grammar copy?
Correction, I said it is better than the iPad spec for spec. So the iPad is 10” and the PlayBook is 7”, is the Galaxy tab 10” better than the Galaxy Tab 7 or the Nexus 7 based on solely the screen estate?
Outside of the screen and its related stuff, where else is the iPad better on that screenshot?

My advice to you, read up and learn. I see that you do visit Crackberry.com, browse it to learn.

texazzpete: How can the Playbook NATIVELY provide internet connectivity if it needs a Blackberry smartphone to achieve that? Do you know the meaning of that word?
So in essence you do not understand what is called NATIVE capabilities. So let me explain to you.
The iPad can not natively send a file via bluetooth, you would need an app for that.
The iPad can not natively playback some video formats, but with an app, then it would play those files.

Now that you have learnt what natively means, I would tell you again. A PlayBook though a WiFI ONLY table, has the NATIVE capabilities to provide other means of getting internet to the tablet even when there is no WiFi signals available. This is possible as there exists other means of getting internet access that are not necessarily through the WiFi. Hope you now understand?

Below is a pix of what I have been trying to teach you.

texazzpete: See this dolt! Were you under a rock when the LASTMA commander was desperately trying to pin the death of one of his employees on an innocent lady? The commander INSISTED several times that the lady (who was in a parked vehicle) ran down a LASTMA employee and killed him...and then escaped to a nearby estate.

if not for eyewitnesses, this woman would still be on trial for murder!

Tell us the educational criteria that one needs to get to be in LASTMA before you start opening your mouth to spew imbecilic nonsense. If Sanitizing Lagos was their objective, they would have been airing sensitizing information on the radio and TV stations to tell people not to cross those white lines. One-way streets would be marked boldly. LASTMA officials would not be lying in ambush to trick people into breaking the law. In more developed climes, agencies like LASTMA are designed to prevent road accidents and boost public safety. In Lagos state they are a cash generation outfit.

Your problem is that you are a bush man. I do not doubt that you have some money, but that apparently has not taken the bushness out of you. If not, you would not be defending an agency whose agents would forcefully enter your vehicle without a warrant, whose agents would illegally confiscate your car keys.
And going by your reasoning, since the Police have been known to accuse people falsely, even charging them to court wrongly and even getting people jailed on false evidences, we should just scrap the Police and replace them with your village elsers, righthuh

Toks2008: My Story is no different from other innocent victims.

I pulled over at a designated Bus-top, just to see these men appear from no where with towing vans stating that i parked at a bustop. I argued with them that i did not park because my car side glasses were all down and i just left the car for just 2 minutes but all these fell on deaf hears and they succeeded in towing the car to their office.

I went straight to their head office in Oshodi to file a complaint. The PA to the chairman who is well educated agreed that one can pack at a bustop but should not be more than 5mins.

Did he waive the charges? Hell no but he just reduced the fee and all in all, i ended up spending about 50k for an offence i did not commit shuttling from one bank branch to another trying to pay in these crazy fees into the state Govt account. My friends this is crazy.
My guy, thanks for providing the clarification above. From the bolded part, parking for 2 mins at a designated bus stop, is ACTUALLY AN OFFENCE.
Read the traffic code, you CANNOT park at a bus stop, you can only wait at one. Once you switched off your ignition and left the car, you committed an offence. This law is there to ensure that commuter/public buses are not impeded from being able to use the bus stops/stands for their designated purposes, which is to drop off /pick up passengers.
To be honest, you need to be grateful for the guy that reduced your charges as you clearly broke the law!

texazzpete: I bought a 3G iPad so i'm working with that one. Your post said it's the cheapest way to get internet on any tablet. I'm only pointing out to you that some of us do not mind paying extra for the increased value.
Wifi iPad + MiFi > Playbook + Bridge.
Comprehension is really your problem, that you can afford the extra cost does not invalidate that the PlayBook combo is the cheapest means of getting to the internet on any tablet. Also note that, the PlayBook is also the ONLY WiFi tablet that has the capability to natively provide internet connectivity even when there if no WiFi coverage. PlayBook sure helps to get things done.

texazzpete: So i ask you, are you aware there are people out there without a Blackberry? Isn't it LAME for one to have a tablet that FORCES you to buy a specific type of phone just to unlock decent value from it?
Comprehension issues again! The PlayBook can tether to ANY Bluetooth enabled device that supports Dial Up Networking via Bluetooth to connect to the internet. The added bonus is simple: If you own a BlackBerry smartphone, it would be at no extra cost as you can use your BIS/BES data plan. Really dude, you do need to read up on this technology stuff.

texazzpete: This my 4th 9900. All horrible battery life. I've run with the latest OSes out there, tinkered with hybrid OS from Crackberry too. As long as BB groups are enabled, battery runs down fast under MTN. RIM stuck an anaemic battery in their 9900.
Yeah, it is your fourth 9900, why do you keep buying them? I can help you, you realize they are your primary means of getting things done or are you going to say you are simply throwing good money at a bad product? grin

texazzpete: Reading comprehension fail. I never said the lack of apps make an OS unstable. Where did i say that? I said very many Android apps do not work, I said you're at the mercy of folks who would help port Android apps and most of those are the free ones anyway. The Android player has had stability issues...this has nothing to do with the developer.
Your Windows 7 analogy is utterly flawed. There are much more applications on Windows 7 than Android and iOS combined.
Now you are trying to shift the goal post. Your statement was that the OS was unstable because many sideloaded Android apps do not run. I then pointed out to you that that is a function of the app coding and not the OS. Obviously, you couldn’t comprehend the analogy.

texazzpete: I'm seeing the developer claim his app loaded 30% faster...no claims about 'smoother'. the whole thing screams 'publicity stunt' to me actually. No easier way to drum up AppWorld sales than to encourage and stimulate the Blackberry faithful grin
Sure you can claim whatever you say is the reason behind the video, however what you cannot dispute is the developer claims and video. You can go check if the app he referred to is not in the Apple appstore.

texazzpete: Why don't you do a spec for spec comparison?
Sure, here it is:

texazzpete: While you babble about app loading time, why not tell us more about the 2 mins boot time for the Playbook compared to the < 30 seconds for the iPad 2?
Sure the boot time of the PlayBook is something that needs improvement, however, if you read up on how the iPad achieved it’s so called faster loading/boot time, you would discover the programming gimmick underneath. Do some research my man.

texazzpete: Spec for spec comparison, the playbook is inferior to 2011's iPad 2 and definitely holds no candle to the 2012 model. Compare your playbook spec to spec to the Asus Transformer Prime or the prime Infinity, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 or even the Nexus 7. I dare you to post that comparison here.
Here it is again:

texazzpete: What can the Playbook help me achieve that the iPad cannot do? pray, tell us.
I dare ask you, what can the iPad achieve that the PlayBook cannot? But to answer your question, the WiFi iPad is lost and dead when there is no WiFi around, but the PlayBook would still get things done. Plus it can run Android apps, which the iPad cannot do, Plus it has HDMI out.

texazzpete: Forbes: Apple makes 71% of smartphone profits
http://www.forbes.com/sites/timworstall/2012/09/08/fascinating-number-apple-takes-71-of-all-smartphone-profits/

Even worse, for those of you Android fanboys who cannot see that Google is making a big mistake

http://www.macrumors.com/2012/05/03/apple-and-samsung-claim-99-of-profits-among-top-mobile-phone-vendors/

Google did a stupid thing by letting Samsung make the Galaxy Nexus. Samsung takes more than 90% of the total profits in the Android space. LG, Sony et al have been losing. As Samsung's star shines brighter, HTC's and LG's stars keep dimming.
Did you fail to see this qualifier in the Forbes report? Let e re-post it here.

It’s an entirely incorrect number of course, unless we’re very careful about the parameters we’re using. The people who mine and process the tantalum to make the capacitors are making profits and they’re making profits from smartphones’ demand for capacitors. And the people who make the screens and even more the people who provide the airtime which make the phones work.

But if we exclude all of that and look just at who is making a profit from selling the hardware and software for smartphones: well, no, even that’s not true. For Microsoft is making a hefty whack out of license fees on Android systems for example. Some say as much as $1 billion a year for work they did over a decade ago. Which isn’t bad money really.

But if we restrict ourselves just to hardware then it is true. And it shows quite how much Apple is outshining the competition. They’re selling many fewer phones than the competition but they’re making the lion’s share of all the profits. And business is indeed about making a profit, not making a sale.

thelastPope: Why do you keep spewing crap. Read man, don't be lazy.

I said clearly that the new playbook has wifi. But the older playbooks don't have wifi. Why ever design a device without wifi in the first place? How dumb can a company get?
No, it is how dumb can you be! The first PlayBook released in April 2011 is a WiFi ONLY Tablet! Is that hard for you to read and understand! Haba! See it here: http://www.gsmarena.com/blackberry_playbook-3830.php

The new PlayBook launched in August 2012 is a 4G/LTE PlayBook. See it here: http://www.gsmarena.com/blackberry_4g_lte_playbook-3846.php

thelastPope: Wifi tethering has been available since froyo 2.2. Galaxy tabs and motorolla droid have been running tethering since then. Don't comment on what you don't know. ICS only included tethering as a standard. It doesn't mean that was the first time tethering was available. Most networks refused to included tethering in their shipped devices because of obvious business reasons. I had my galaxy s without tethering but a simple custom ROM fixed that. Even tethering apps on the android market provided wireless tethering for anyone that cared. You are way of your limits here.
No let me vex with you! In one hand you accept that the tethering was not standard until ICS and yet you want to claim Android had it? The WiFi tethering has been available on my Sony Xperia X1 some 4-5 years ago, but it was not available on a tablet. Is the definition of a tablet hard for you to understand?
Also, I wasn’t referring to WiFi tethering, I clearly said Bluetooth tethering which is DUN implementation. Read my friend, read and understand!

thelastPope: On your bb, you cannot play youtube on your browser in glo, airtel, mtn and etisalat without being charged extra. They will clean you up before you can say jack. Doesn't matter how you configure your browser. I have had to call customer service and literary fight them several times because networks like airtel or etisalat will not even warn you before gulping your credit. The customer support guys will tell you in clear terms that they charge for it. Are you sure you aint living in Afghan?
Obviously, they know you are ignorant so they feed you what they want. By the way, if I am in Afghanistan and I could do it, does it not show that you are far worse than I am grin grin
PhonesRe: Samsung, HTC To Block iPhone 5 Sales In US & EU Using LTE Patents by Akainzo(m): 11:18am On Sep 14, 2012
thelastPope: You are very funny indeed. Tethering has been a part of android tabs for over 3 years. Which planet are you living in? Even android 2.2 custom ROMs offered tethering. You don't know what you are talking about.

Not everything can be compressed. You just shown you don't understand compression technology. That is why all the networks charge you separately for youtube and large files downloads. That is also why some sites will not work well on bb. Try playing youtube on any of the networks and see how fast they will gulp your airtime credit. They know RIM only compresses email and simple web pages. Don't make comments like you know what you are talking about when you obviously don't.

Playbook is not even listed in most device comparison sites. You just talking funny
You are the funny one. Tell me which of the Android tablets had non-USB based tethering before the PlayBook. And by the way, Android ICS came after the playbook, so research before you spew nonsense.

That not all things can be compressed is not the issue, but once it can be compressed, BB would compress it and send it across to you. The networks can only charge what BlackBerry does not pass through its NOC. Once it passes through its NOC, no carrier can charge you for it. Watch Youtube via the browser and you are not charged, but watch you using the Youtube app and you would definitely be charged. All file downloads are not charged for your information.
Most of the not too savvy folks (maybe like you) forget to set the browser correctly or even use the WAP browser, of course you would be charged. Learn things and you would be liberated.

You obviously are ignorant of how BB works and thus I would pardon you (heck you even did not know the PlayBook had WiFi even after claiming to use it for one day!). That it is not listed does not mean that one cannot compare it, it is for that reason of helping those that want to get at information or learn other things that Google makes money. Use it and get the spec sheet, then compare it yourself and you can come back here.

thelastPope: Guy wake up, I used a playbook for over a day and had to return it. Thank God I had not paid the guy. They just added wifi in their new release. I had to install a bridge to my other bb phone and that meant I was running down 2 batteries at the same time. That was madness. Besides, forget that android apps stuff. It doesn't work for most apps.

And forget the bb plan trick the networks are playing. They know you cannot use the bandwidth on your bb because the phone is crap. BB has nothing. That miserly 1GB that airtel gives you will not last one week on an android because there's so much to do.

Please don't think that cabin biscuit is now better than cookies just because they are both brownish. BB is crap phone. Always hanging even when you are doing simple stuff. The multitasking in bb is absolutely useless. Try running live wallpapers on a bb? Even with their new cascading frames, they are still like 5 years behind. App world is a poorly built, poorly managed confused portal. Even whatsapp on bb is a better, faster and simpler chat tool that the bbm messenger.

Please beg someone to give you a droid or iphone or better still, a galaxy note or ipad 3 for 24 hrs! By the time you finish playing just 5 levels of where's my water on an android or IOS machine, you will never want to use a bb ever again.
You are a clown right? The PlayBook that was released since April of 2011 is a WiFi capable tablet with the ADDED functionality of being able to do TETHERING.
No other tablet had that capability! Thus if there is no WiFI, every other WiFi only tablet becomes a brick except of course the PlayBook that can do standard tethering to ANY phone ( at a cost) and also, BlackBerry Bridge to other BlackBerry phones to ensure internet capabilities at NO EXTRA COST.
Your statement about BB phones not being able to use the allocated bandwidth because of they being crap shows you are just a neophyte and with limited abilities, (could it be why you use iPad/Android?). Just to help you out, the reason is because the BlackBerry servers (referred to as NOC) would have compressed the data to be send to the devices thus if a BB and an Android were to download the same 5MB of file from an email, the Android would incur the total cost of the 5MB while for the BB, it would be something in the region of 1MB due to the BlackBerry server compressions.
This is why the carriers can offer cheaper internet rates on BB.

texazzpete: Blackberry Playbook is a mediocre tablet.
Bridge is only a feature if you're too broke to buy a decent data plan. I have a data bundle on my iPad so i don't need Bridge. I NEVER use bridge on my Playbook because it requires a bluetooth connection. Without Bluetooth being on, my bold 9900 can barely even last 2/3 of a day with moderate use with 3G on. Some of us have to switch to EDGE to get decent battery life...do i need to explain to you how slow EDGE internet is?
Your arguments or is it reasons are quite laughable, are you aware that there is a WiFI ONLY iPad? Now that reality as hit you, you are comparing apples to oranges, comparing a WiFi only PlayBook to a 3G iPad. You’d need to compare the 3G iPad to the 3G Playbook, then you’d see that the PlayBook far outweighs your iPad in functionality.
Advice: Update your 9900 OS to get better battery life, the stock OS was very bad with battery management. However, the 9900 still outlasts the iPhone 4S on the same use.

texazzpete: PlayBook lacks many of the compelling apps found on Android and iOS. The ability to sideload Android apps is handy, but there are way too many restrictions and many apps will not run. The Android player in the playbook is notorious for stability problems...
That some applications do not run on Windows 7, does it mean that Windows is bad and has stability issues? It is a port and much would depend on the coding capabilities of the developer.

texazzpete: There are no offline GPS navigation apps for PlayBook that work in Nigeria, for example. Skype doesn't work, no 3rd party video chat app. You're restricted to ports of games that released on iOS and Android 8 months ago (eg Playbook just got Modern Combat 3). The hardware is showing its age now, easily outclassed by new iOS and Android tablets. Battery life is just middling.
Yes you cannot Skype, and sideloaded Android video chats would not work because RIM blocked access to the camera on purpose.
Which hardware is aging? The PlayBook spec for spec still beats the new iPad, as a matter of fact a developer ported his IOS app to the PlayBook and the PlayBook ran the app faster and smoother than the iPad. Read it here: http://kalogirou.net/2012/08/25/impressed-by-the-new-blackberry-os-or-how-ios-ate-dust/
By the way, to you games might be important while to others it is not. So Modern Combat 3 or Angry Birds coming late to PlayBook does not impact its functionality.

texazzpete: I have recommended the Playbook to others as a budget tablet that's pretty good...but to say it's better than iOS and Android tablets is just plain craziness.
My guy, it is quite better than every WiFi only Android or iPad out there. If you doubt it, compare them spec for spec. The area where the others have the advantage is the number of apps in the Appstore.
Or you can compare the WiFi iPad to the WiFi PlayBook and get blown away by the things the PlayBook can help you achieve that would leave the WiFi iPad sad with envy.

Yes, the Appstore of the PlayBook is far smaller than that of both Apple and Android, but then it’s like saying a Year One students hasn’t done as much courses as a Year 4 student, the reason is obvious. The PlayBook came out last year while the Apple has been around for 5 years and Android for 3 years!
