iykak47: Are you lost? Why are you whining? Do i need to remind you that Maulag university is not your property, it belongs to the Nigerian people, you are just one out of 140 million.
Now that GEJ has now sent a bill to the National Assembly, seeking a rightful way to change the name of the university, do you now agree that you have been confirmed as clueless, spineless and half-educated?

black knight: there had been previous complaints about d landing gear and hydrualic leakages of d plane. If d plane had been hovering with d knowldge of possible crash (which i doubt), i think hovering over a residential area is not part of d training of d pilot
Was it supposed to be hovering over the Atlantic Ocean? The plane was on its way to the airport to land, and the residential areas were along the flight path for any aircraft landing at the Lagos airport.

iykak47: So blocking third mainland bridge is also part of rule of law, stop deceiving yourself the students don't care about the rule of law or the constitution but just their selfish intrests.
Was is not when some lawyers interpreted the university of Lagos act the way it suits them, that made every Maulag student became 'lawyer' overnight, quoting and interpreting the constitution they know nothing about.
Just the same way you are quoting what you do not know jack about. Those students that have gone to court, have at least demonstrated that they do know more than you. Accept it and wait for the courts to decide, but do not impugn their stance based on your own lazy and spineless attitudes to things that matter.

freecocoa: Abeg make we hear word, did you not see\read what was written on the placards those mumu students were carrying? "Our unilag babes no fit be maulag babes",Maulag no get swag" etc.

Who told you they care about constitution or whatever?those f00ls only know that the name MAULAG doesn't go down well with their whizkid dresscode and to them that's not swagalicious.
Whatever you beef is with those placards, that is your own issues. Of course, you conveniently did not see those placards referring to the constitutionality of the name change, neither did you see those one about consultation, Right?

Beaf: I have been asking folk like him by what process they think (or know) 6 other federal universities got renamed, but they have been unable to answer.
MAULAG is here to stay, no matter how many misguided souls in search of designer brands rather than a sound education go to court to trample MKO's legacy.
So by your own stupid reasoning, since Police has been shooting people during the military era and nothing happened then, they should continue to shoot people right?
Since, IBB nullified the elections of June 1993, then Abdulsallam had the right to nullify the one of 1999?
Or even, since there have been road blocks since the 1960s, then the present IG is wrong to have cancelled what has been there like forever?

The fact that IBB was able to rename the University of Ife to Obafemi Awolowo University, or the renaming of any other university has nothing to do with the one of University of Lagos. One was established by law (Unilag, one was established by a regional government and then acquired/taken over by the Federal government (OAU). You can search, you would not see a University of Ife Act, but you will definitely see a University of Lagos Act of 1962.

And once again, it is not about MKO's legacy, it is about doing what is right!

jayceejeffrey: Am disappointed in Unilag students.will the change of name affect their results or the certificate or degree...hmm Even educated students are now fools?.wasting their fucking time
With thoughts like this, Blacks would still be standing in public buses today seeing as to him, standing or sitting, the bus is still going the same destination. What innane mentality!

What the 10 Unilag students have demonstrated is a belief in the rule of law in a democracy, and having the courage to back it up with some action. Applaud them or keep quiet but don't go criticising them.

With people like you in Nigeria, the military would be your preferred option.
By this, nobody should take the FGN to court ever in Nigeria, right? SMH

Just to help you out, see below
a. Ribadu took police/FGN to court, he won.
b. Uzoma Okere took FGN/Nigerian Army to court, she won 100 Million naira
c. Atiku took FGN/INEC to court, he won Nigerians the right not to be disqualified by INEC

Many have won cases against the Federal Govt, but they have to be strong and be on the side of the law. Something obviously lacking in you!

abbey621: @Lanre front: Ogbeni Komot here with your wayo analysis! You're one of those twisted individuals who blatantly twist around clear fact into twisted meanings. The law is simple and any attempt to derail its meaning is futile, the executive power of the federation gives GEJ the right to oversee all federal entities, including the almighty Unilag! It's high time you people wake up, we are no longer in the 60s, your act of parliament holds no ground, when it comes to modern constitution and the only recognized version of the constitution remains the 1999 version, wait a minute! Why am I even wasting my time explaining things, sentiments and pure ignorance won't allow some people to think with an open mind, so let's leave the decisions to the court, cos we all know, nothing we do or say here on Nairaland would affect the outcome, peace!
U
You have only exhibited so much ignorance about the constitution and the workings of the National Assembly. The first act of the Fourth Republic Assembly was to adopt all the laws already passed in Nigeria prior to May 29, 1999 so long as it was not in violation of the 1999 constitution.

To this end, all validly passed laws from 1960 are in force and are part of the laws governing the operations of Nigeria as a country. The Police Act for instance, was it not passed in 1963, The OBJ years operated the CBN act of 1990. Are you therefore trying to say this Acts/Laws are not to be enforced because they were passed before 1999?

Nigeria is been run aground, not majorly by the corruption, but by the lack of intelligent and half-educated people waiting to take over the governance space.

Lilboots: Nobody is playing pranks tpia etc. Can u pls move on! A plane carrying over 160 people and the manifest that was previously published contained 130 or so names. Are ther not some names missing? Pls check this link where Amina's name was listed in the manifesto. http://www.nigerianeye.com/2012/06/manifest-of-dana-air-that-crashed-in.html. Rather than trying to discredit people, try and sympathise with pple who have lost loved ones.
This gets interesting. With this, you have proven that the flight originated from Abuja! So how come the Dana release stated that the flight left Lagos for Abuja, developed problem and then tried to get back to the Lagos airporthuh

Which is the correct story??

mukina2: Some posts on fb about the crash
The ill-fated Dana plane had been under repair for several weeks and the airline's station manager protested its use but the Indian mgt insisted it should fly!
The German stations are reporting that the plane which just crashed should never have taken off becos of its write off state and that its a wonder the plane even made it to lagos
This is bonkum. The foreign stations do not have access to Dana Airlines maintenance records, so how would they have know??
Are station managers more knowledgeable about planes than the pilots flying them, or the engineers working on them?

We should desist from spreading false stories! And this should NOT have made Front Page news seeing that only 1 post is there or are you using your powers as a moderator to propagate this falsehood?

So, how was the plane able to fly for two minutes?? The engines were already on fire as soon as the plane left the ground..

The plane's two blackboxes will show more details more than any survivors can say. I just hope NCAA insists that all commercial planes have their blackboxes in good condition.

This is the concorde plane crash again, watch the video closely:
And where in that video did you see an attempt to crash land the plane in a safer place? The Concorde couldn't gain height and kept descending until it crashed into the hotel. You really do need to get off your pedantic reasoning.

If he had no control, the plane would have crashed straight away..

Maybe, you should read more about aviation, and stop chatting air on what you have no clue about..
Like I said earlier, stop yarning nonsense. I have pointed you to where you can get more information about that particular crash. or ask any of your friends who might have watched it on DSTV. The plane crashed straight away is why it crashed 2 minutes after take-off!

Take your own advice, go read and go learn. But should you be willing, you can come watch the report of that crash on my PVR, I've got it recorded for posterity. Just ensure you ask nicely and bring a bottle of wine along! grin

shymmex: This is the concorde crash again:

The plane crashed 2mins after take off, meaning the take off wasn't smooth because four of the engines were on fire - and the pilot was trying to crash land before bumping into the hotel..

The Dana plane flew all the way from Abuja, only to crash into a densely populated area.. Does that make sense to you?
My guy, stop this altogether. If the plane crashes 2 minutes after take off, where, how and in which time would the pilot have to start looking for where to crash land? Please go to National Geographic to watch the documentary and then you'd know better.

Let's wait for the investigations to be concluded before making all this far fetched insinuations. It dishonors the dead actually. sad

Check the pictures, and come back with a reasonable reply.
Yep I have, the tail section is in its perfect horizontal position. That is not the position it would be in if the plane had dived into the ground.
TravelRe: Dana Airplane Crashed At Iju-Agbado, Ayinla Bus-Stop by Akainzo(m): 5:56pm On Jun 03, 2012
shymmex: That's a different scenario.. The plane was flying low due to distress, and the pilot was trying to crash land in a safer place... The 5star hotel in question is taller than the buildings in this particular scenario...

Maybe, you should look at how this Dana airplane crashed again.. The plane took a dive - meaning it dived straight from the sky....

If the plane traveled from Abuja to Lagos, why can't the pilot crash land in one of the open fields before getting to a densely populated area?

Like I said earlier, it's either the pilot was either drunk or dead - but I smell foul play, period..
Dude, where are you getting all these details from? No one has reported that the plane dived to the ground, if it did, there would have been a clear crater on the ground.

And BTW, the Concorde plane was not trying to crash land in any safer place, the pilot lost control and the plane came down in its elliptical path once the fire had burned the hydraulics that the pilot could have used to manage some control.

Until investigations are completed, one wouldn't know what caused the crash. I however understand you opinion on possible foul play.

I used to stay in Agege a while back, in fact, from the balcony of the house, I could see the local airport runways. If the plane crashes at Iju in Agege, then it is on its way to the Airport.

It could however have been flying from Lagos to Abuja, developed a fault and tried going back to the airport before it crashed. But definitely, it was on its way back to the Lagos airport as of the time of the crash

The cause of this crash can't be far fetched- its either the plane was faulty or the pilot wasn't experienced enough. What else might have caused it, if not for mediocre standards? The weather was fair, so you cant blame the weather.
If we continue to celebrate mediocrity, incidents like these would occur again in the future, but at what cost? The blood of innocent citizens? This country is not moving forward because of mediocrity, injustice, corruption and tribalism. We need to change
RIP to all the passengers and consolations to their loved ones.
Based on the above, one would assume planes don't crash in the US or other advanced countries angry angry

Much as the country is bad, but you've got to admit that those Pilots and other crew members also have a life to live and look forward to. They do not set out to fly to their deaths. They do take personal responsibilities for deciding to fly a plane that is not air-worthy. It i snot only the sector that is bedeviled with mediocrity, the people have now accepted it as a way of life. Now it is always "God willing", "God protect us", "Prayer would guide you"!

If this were true, the plane would have been crash landing in the airport after it must have dumped its fuel.

Let me educate you, except the company is a Sole Proprietorship, then you simply cannot wake up and name it anything you want.

Because most people recognize that being a sole proprietorship would limit their abilities to do business, they usually make it a partnership with board of directors. Now given this instance, you cannot just wake up and change the name except you can show to CAC, that there was a board meeting where the change was approved. Therefore, it means you cannot simply wake up and change the name of the company.

d) Sure you don't. But when someone wants to email you and engineering drawing or you've got a client that suddenly calls while you're away, the data cap would indeed limit you.
e) Nimbuzz? operating within your own circle? Whatsapp teling you the guy has been active does not mean he has read your message, he/she could have been active chatting with someone else. It is not the same as knowing when someone has read YOUR OWN message.

So while I accept that ALL phones can do varied things, the cost benefit analysis and how they do it is what sets them apart. It is for this reason that BB have the support of top notch CEOs and company directors.
Even a BoD member of Apple uses a BB, check the video out (from 0:18 )

shymmex: I have checked both, and the android phones are better than both.
Kindly educate me as t the comparisons you made to arrive at that. I accept we may have personal preferences of size and stuff, but what are the basics that you used to compare them?

Charm O: maybe you've been lucky. I downloaded an app and that was the end of my first BB. And don't refer to me as ignorant. You can share knowledge without being brutish.
Did the app crash your phone? Or did the app exhaust your data allowance? Please kindly explain as I am struggling with the situation you are alluding to.

Any of the two reasons could be cause for concern, but definitely wont lead to the death of your BB.

shymmex: Blackberry need to step up their game - and make a touch screen that can actually compete... All the touch screen phones they have made so far are shyte... I'm a big fan of blackberry, and I have been since 2005 - but they really need to step up, and compete...

And people need to stop underrating the Nigerian market - the purchasing power of naija is huge.
Have you checked the mixed 9800 series? Or the full Touchscreen 9850 series?

olsmade: Browsing on d iPhone z wackhuh Maybe u had d china iPhone. I have d iPhone 4 n d bold 9900 n I av zain BIS on but ges what, I'm using it on my iPhone (yeah, it works) n my bold5 z jus useless ryt now. Nothing beats browsing on the iPhone, definitely not bold4 or any oda BB for dat matter.
BBs are not so bad too anyways esp wiv BIS - btw, dey rule d qwerty keyboard world on mobiles. iPhone rules d touchscreen world so I like to say dat I av d best of both worlds.
I really don't know why dere are still no iPhone or android friendly plans in Naija yet. D possibilities with an iPhone are endless. Just like fingerprints, no two iPhones are the same. I could go on and on but ...
Let me just say the iPhone z one of d best things that ever happened to man - prolly d best since ice cream.
My guy, quit the lies. The Bold 9900 browser beats the iPhone 4S browser hands down, in both speed and HTLM5 compatibilities!

To confirm for you, cripple the 9900 (by disabling Flash and javascript) to put it in the same mode with the iPhone 4, and then load the same webpage on both of them. Check and then return with the results!
The iPhone does seems faster in its native mode because it is crippled, NO FLASH, NO JAVASCRIPT, this are stuffs that are existing on the Androids, BBs, WinMos, WP7s.

puplin: Lol...i use my Nokia for basically everything u use your blackberry for & more. That's the point i was trying to make. So what's the fuss? Lol
The fuss is simple:
a. Do you get always on PUSH email like he does?
b. When you run out of credit on your Nokia, what other options of communication do you have?
c. Do you have a secure phone?
d. Do you have as much data allowance for the same period at the same price?
e. Do you have access to IM clients on the go as he does? (Note whatsapp while mimicking BBM well, doesn't still let you know when a message is read!)

There are more, but those are just off my head now.

mykali: i own a blackberry phone and an android phone. the android phone was bought as a kinda 'back up' because the blackberry battery is the worst kinda battery ever made. to me that is the only disappointing aspect about the phone. i pay 3k a month and get unlimited access to browsing and downloading, i tweet, i reach out to family members, even in cases where i run out of credit to make calls, i am safe in the knowledge that i can still communicate. and once i've paid that amount, i dont have to bother about paying another till the end of the month. but with the android, once your GB is exhauseted, which could even be 2 weeks out of the 4 weeks period you are granted, you have to pay another.

the blackberry market will thrive well in Nigeria, but only if they can improve on their utterly USELESS battery life. i fackin take a charger everywhere with me...very annoying.
Mykali, you should take a charger with you everywhere if you use your phone extensively. Some have been known to keep a charge for more than 2 days while most original and "first owned" BBs would take you all through the day.

Not however that it is a fallacy to expect your full tank fuel to last for a week (as it usually does when you commute office to house) while traveling to Kano from Lagos. Both are full tanks, but both were not being used the same way. So the same thing happens here, the Android lasts longer cos your main phone is the BB. Ask the iPhone 4S users how long there battery lasts and you'd know that the BB battery is better.

Iranoladun: Good for Blackberry!

As for me I just dropped their 9700 for Galaxy Tab 10.1. I have used two 9700 within 8 months, 1st one crashed and was not recoverable so I bought a new one less than 6 months 2nd one screen went blank. Since I crossed over to Tablet I have been asking myself why I did not make the change earlier. BB is just too expensive with limited facilities and the Nigeria hype does not help with everyone pinging undecided

If they do not reduce their acquisition prices and BIS plan prices I doubt if they will be able to sustain the hype! They should target the youth especially undergraduates!
The bolded above made me laugh so much! You swapped a phone for a 10" tablet and you are hear bragging shocked shocked grin grin Na wa o! Why don't you swap the Tablet for a Samsung Smart TV with WiFi capabilties and then be enjoying it all at once. You sure cracked me up babe! Please, how do you collect people's number?, you bring out the tablet and start typing off grin grin grin
