To me religion and God can be related to a classroom... am sure every one here attended school to atleast secondary school.. now my point is, in a classroom for example, there are fundamental rules that must not be broken, if broken will attract severe punishment, which can be related to the rules that are mentioned in the holy books, from a decent view of this rules, an average person should know its wrong to disobey such, (examples: fornication, murder, mass murder and some other severe crimes).. but after those rules there are some others which are set to as WARNING...
picture this for example, a teacher in his classroom told the student to always read so as not to fail their exams and become irrelevant in future, that is a warning, such can be related to GOD telling us not to lie, steal, backbite, cheat and all related offenses..

but if you look at the classroom, you will notice different set of people with different ideology... some known as the "over sabi" will take it very seriously and start reading every moment in time or they will try to want to impress the teacher by going extra miles, while some will take it lightly by reading a bit and playing a bit, while some will not even heed the teacher's warning and they do whatever they like with their time... samething goes to religion, some people take those things too hard by taking those rules to extra length, like the so called boko haram, they take the rules and try go extra miles thinking they are pleasing GOD... but they are some people who are just average, though they sin(disobey some rules) yet they still abide by it most times, while the last set that doesnt care at all are the once that do all the odd..

To me religion is just a personal thing between you and your creator, the GOD that is powerful enough to create us all out of nothing, to me what some atheist think is that, they should be able to see God or something of such, NO, if God wants that, it will be so easy to show "himself", if GOD is that simple to show his physical self, then I doubt not, if humans won't think of going to nuke "him" out somewhere..

With this, you're obviously subscribing to a personal God. How can you possibly relate your earlier hypotheses with a personal god?

My take on your gist is that of creationist, who subscribes to the evolutionary theory, as the origin of life.

It's an abnormality, psychologically, for a mentally normal human being, not to feel nauseated, repulsive and angry at the painful consequences of thoughts and actions, that are based on assumptions and ignorance.

It will be a pleasant experience for a deluded guy to observe the following:

* refuse blood transfusion and die. Because a story book says don't eat blood.

* refuse CS and get the baby and mother killed. Because the story book says Hebrew women delivered before midwife got to them.

* reject doctors diagnosis and die. Because the story book says that God's report is Supreme.

I will like to ask, out of curiosity perhaps, if as an atheist that does not believe in God, do you as well believe NOT in the existence of such things as demons, witchcraft, sorcery, witches, spirit beings and all whatnot that border on the celestial, and which are generally referred to as the Kingdom of Darkness, the opposers of the Kingdom of Light?

In simple terms, if you don't believe in God, the ruler of the kingdom of light, do you believe in Devil, the ruler of the kingdom of darkness, as well as his cohorts and their powers?

I ask this question because I implicitly, almost instinctively, believe that there cannot be one without the other.

the same way, there can't be god without ignorance, irrational fears, illusion, and delusion.

If you can out grow these emotions, god idea will evaporate from your life.

I once had to sort out the rehabilitation of a stroke client, who is a vice president of an international church, with headquarters in Nigeria.

Most of my sessions with him was focused more, on how i can help him out of the depression that got him. He was thoroughly disillusioned, can't understand why a pastor at his level of "anointing", could be down with stroke.

And when he even recovered to the level that he could resume his duties, he still will not resume. His reason was how to cope with the "embarrassing" looks of his members.

Most of the religious folks who came down with complications of DM and HTN, had thrown away their medications, because their pastors instructed them so.

The ignorance of the religious folks, is one of the grave challenges, that faces effective health management in Nigeria today.

He said that in order to maintain peace and prosperity in the home, both wife and the husband should respect and take care of each other’s opinions and emotions.

He said that the anger of husband brings to the wife nothing but tension, depression and confusion, adding that the anger of the wife brings to the husband nothing but disappointment.

“This can lead to mental torture, frustration and bitterness,“ he said.

The cleric, therefore, advised couples to be patient and compassionate in their dealings and urged husbands to always express their full confidence and trust in their wives.

“To prove this, husbands should hand over the house keep to their wives so that they may feel dignified and involved.

“Prophet Muhammad said that the woman is the guardian and caretaker of her husband’s house and Almighty Allah will require an account from her in this regard on the Day of Judgment.

“This will give the husband an opportunity to freely think of other things regarding the promotion, growth development and progress of his career or business.“

Similarly, the cleric urged husbands to take responsibility over financial obligations of their wives, which include dowry, feeding clothing, accommodation and general spending.

He also appealed to those that married more than one wife to be just, fair and show equality between co-wives and treated them in a decent, kind, love and respectful manner.

Because that is not how science works. There is no possible methodology to this kind of study that one cannot pick big holes in. No scientific work is 100% error proof. The reason we have error margin.

Today, February 8 2017 will mark 3 years since I crossed from the other side of the divide into the realm of atheism aka antitheism.
You will come across atheists on the internet, running around like mountain goats, yapping about how atheism has improved their live and shaped their overall perception of the world around, but this is what they will never reveal to you.

My story:

I was born into a very religious christian family to strict parents who highly believed that teaching the young child bible tales is ethical, and using the rod as a measure of correction for an erring child is morally acceptable. My dad was a profane, wicked, heartless, uncompromising theist. He treated me like I was not his child, and once too often he did send me into the cold streets at night, but not before beating me to within an inch of my life. I screamed. I cried. I thirsted. Me was restless. The flames going higher. Satan's little helper running down the steps, hell's door close by.

Sadly, my mum kept quiet all through and acted like I fully deserved the punishing being meted to me by my dad. She was little more than a fawning puppet trapped in the cage of a savage tyrant. I still love her though.

I left the house 2013 and, kneeling down, I swore to the skies to always hate theists, however I needed something obscure to hide my true intentions towards christians, so I embraced atheism.

After I became an atheist, I suscribed to subjective morallity, my morality took a deplorable plunge to a down low. I did many bad things shocking for a 20-year-old. Ranging from clubbing, to engaging in street fights and heated arguments in public places, to drinking excessively and _fucking those hot chics, yeah the ones with gigantic boobs and big asses.

Since God does not exist, I thought life is basically meaningless, senseless and purposeless. Every open door was well utilised fighting theists both online and offline. I argued religion late into the night, afterwards read some materials I will use as weapons against religion the next time before I slept.

I was a 21st century psychopath slowly changing into a lunatic, accountable to neither man, because I believed in subjective morality, nor a non-existent God.

But, despite how fulfilled I felt, despite the arguments I won and riding on the waves of the fleeting joy of ridiculing theists, despite not being afraid of hell fire threat, I still felt an emptiness deep in me. Although evidence and facts state God doesn't exist but my heart is yearning for an answer and reaching for that profound connection my mum seemed to have with the non-physical whenever she got on her knees, her eyes closed, looking up at heaven. The sight was glorious. It was calm and marvellous, beyond human comprehension, beyond all pleasures of life. I think that void in me would be filled if I can find that one thing I have been searching for.

I became an atheist because I was abused by my dad who is a theist and because I also wanted to sin without feeling guilt, not because I lack the convincing evidence to believe in God's existence.

This is one of the cowards, who obviously have be thoroughly deflated by the intelligent minds here.

The apologists do have difficulty in coming to terms, with the fact that intelligence reveals religious beliefs, for what it really is - illusions.

The Christians/Muslims will teach their kids religious stories and songs, with the instruments of:

* assumptions
* blind faith
* irrational fears and
* making regulated/restricted understanding a virtue
* forced choice

When i teach my kids atheistic thoughts, i do that with the instrument of:

* Reason
* boundless understanding through unregulated questions
* freedom of choice
* respect for the kids decision.

The religious folks present the society with kids, who are susceptible to perpetuating all the evils inherent in religion, as they grow.

That's why i have been advocating rehabilitation for the religious victims.
They are fettered in grand delusion.
