TravelRe: South African Embassy: A Tale Of Torture And Extortion by AKO1(m): 7:36am On May 11, 2009
Very well said, I can whole-heatedly relate to everything you said haven 'been there, done that'.

I was to resume school here in January. I sent in my application in the first week of December because they won't collect it anytime before that.

I didn't get the visa until three days to registration. And that was because I know someone who knows someone in their Abuja embassy. Apparently, that is the only way you can get things done in Nigeria.

In the first place, they don't allow people from the Southern parts to apply in Abuja, even though there are far more applicants residing down South. The day I tried through Abuja, there were not more than 30 of us there; but in Lagos, more than 100 people were granted that same day. lipsrsealed

Secondly, they should seriously consider creating an online booking system. If they claim we are savages, they should not on their part encourage us to push and shove in front of their mission just to get an appointment.

Thirdly, when you want to make the repatriation or visa fee payment, they ask for your card and ATM pin number to conduct the transaction on your behalf. That is highly inappropriate.

Christianity EtcRe: Why Do Some Christians Reject Gospel Hip Hop? by AKO1(m): 9:59am On May 07, 2009
Its just a silly stereotype. undecided

However the problem with christian hip hop is that some performers put more emphasis on the stylistic aspects of the music than on the message. With hymns and 'slow songs', its mostly the other way around.

RSA:
If this is how a patriotic Nigerians think?then God save Nigeria.
It's amazing how much noise you're making about Zulus,SA is not a tribal country, yes we are all proud to be who we are but when it come to the country nobody cares about your tribe.Yes western media try to cause friction but it's not working,ANC is made up of all groups, and let me tell you that in SA 2 out 3 South Africans can speak at least 3 other local languages, therefore sometime it's even difficult to tell if someone is xhosa, zulu, tswana, sotho, pedi, venda, ndebele or tsonga.because they all knows each other's languages.

We had two presidents who where Xhosa(Mandela and Mbeki),one Tswana(Motlanthe) and now we going to have a Zulu(Zuma).Zuma said he is going to serve one term only, and our president after that might be Tsonga(Ramaphosa) so you see that there is no group or tribe in SA that control this country?

Arm robbers, street gangsters, whats is the difference?they'r all criminals.
Against the backdrop of your country's racial history, the manner in which you are so quick to judge tribalism in Nigeria is quite distasteful. lipsrsealed

huxley:
A leading evangelical pastor in Cameroon, founder on many pentacostal churches in Cameroon and US, has died several days into a fasting marathon.  It is said that the pastor embarked on a 40+ days fasting ordeal to not only emulate his God but also to better his God's record. Unfortunately, his god was not happy with such a rude challenge from an upstart contender and snuffed the life out of him.

How funny ironic!

Foreign AffairsRe: Is Anc Leader, President Jacob Zuma The Right Man For The Job by AKO1(m): 2:18pm On Apr 28, 2009
debosky:
Zuma might be the leader of the ANC, but that does not mean there are no educated and highly qualified ANC members who will contribute their quota to development.
I'm not referring to the party officials. Of course, there are brilliant people in the ANC who have been running the country for the past 15 years. If they weren't smart SA would have collapsed by now.

My point is simply that the average South African sees the ANC as the symbol of black empowerment. In fact, one of the ANC's campaign moves was to use Mandela to endorse the party, and it was widely speculated that the old man was forced. You see the link? This is true but this kind of ideology does not allow democracy to flourish. Does it now mean that the ANC should rule South Africa forever just because they were the ones that 'freed' blacks? It is this ideology that explains why the opposition still receives such little votes, not because they have anything worse to offer.

debosky:
I'm not too sure about Zuma, but at least the people's desire was realised and they got their man. Let's see if he has what it takes to rule the country.
Abi, we Nigerians here can only watch and be thoroughly ashamed of our democracy. I sometimes use the excuse that theirs is 5 yrs older. But when you look at the disparity in both electoral processes, that doesn't matter.
Foreign AffairsRe: Is Anc Leader, President Jacob Zuma The Right Man For The Job by AKO1(m): 1:25pm On Apr 25, 2009
In my honest opinion, poverty and ignorance explains why Zuma and the ANC won. Many black people refused to vote for the DA (for e.g.) because they are paranoid about the country returning to Apartheid under a white president. On the other hand, about 80% of the expatriate vote (most of whom are educated) went to the DA. That says something for itself.

Since when did Dog meat become CULTURE in Nigeria? I believe this diet was born out of hunger.
Eating termites (esunsun in yoruba) is also borne out of hunger to the best of my knowledge. I just don't see why eating dog is more barbaric than eating goat.
Christianity EtcRe: Chris Oyakhilome Is A Phoney by AKO1(m): 3:36pm On Apr 20, 2009
zillonnair:
Practically, i feel it was not proper for you to had stop my topic from flowing.
You lot are discussing the same thing, you think Pastor Chris is real, these guys think hes not.

Christ Embassy has over 10,000 workers in Nigeria alone, and well over 3million worshippers, i wonder what makes people believe these millions of people are so gullible
Numbers are, many times, but not all the time, a stamp of approval. So ideally that argument is flawed. Moreover, we live in a democratic society where even the 'minorities' are allowed to question the majority, whose opinion is supposed to count more.

moreover they insider you are outsider, we inside are telling you what is obtainable, you are looking from afar and you are saying its arranged miracle.
When can you study the lines of your palm better, when your hand is in your face or when it is away from your body?

Well i have said my bits, watch miracles, see their before, when they were ministered to and what followed, don't just talk http://www.enterthehealingschool.org/videos/videos.php
Like I have said before on this forum, I do not doubt miracles or the ability of God or anyone that believes in Him including Pastor Chris. I believe he has a genuine call. My uncle used to be a Pastor in CE in its very early days before the ministry 'exploded' so I'm not trying to be nice. I am just very sensitive to the feelings of people who feel they are being fooled because all these miracles are done behind their backs. I mean, all we see is Pastor Chris 'pushing' (for lack of a better word) them to the ground. I'm sure if they saw a hand grow out of a stump right there on stage, these kinds of threads would cease to surface.

Fine, you can voice your believe but please with caution especially when there is possibility of you being wrong and not against an ordinary man but a man of God.
If everybody was afraid to voice their beliefs against 'men of God', then people like Peter Popoff  would not have been exposed. There is enough evidence. I'm not drawing any parallel between Chris and Peter but I'm sure you get my argument. Please watch the video of Popoff; I disagree with what Randi says in the beginning though.

Calling another person's practice "disgusting" from your cultural (or what have you) standpoint beats my imagination.

There are people who could see you as disgusting if you eat suya but not dog meat. And they will be absolutely correct. So what is disgusting now? angry
