Sometimes I wonder how we manage to see past the log in our eyes. |
bandely:And so? He could have given the loot to any church. If he had given it to a charity would that have made his actions any more justified? Think. |
When we neva learn our local languages finish, we should be learning French. Arrant nonsense. Look at South Africa. All 9 of their indeginous languages are constitutionally-recognized official languages. While it might be impossible to parallel that in Nigeria, what are we doing to ensure that our languages are not relegated into extinction? |
Your concerns are very hazy. Be specific. |
From the summary, the bulk of what he said was not why he quit Redeemed Church. Why do we like to be so over-sensational? Anyway @ topic, i hope Bakare does not have any skeletons in his closet. Otherwise he's doing what most other church leaders are scared to do, which indeed is the will of God. Right from the Old Testament prophets of God charted the direction of nations. For 8 yrs the church leaders, quote and unquote, had unlimited access to the no 1 leader of this country and they kept quiet. Whether those in power would have flinched or not is another issue. The point is that they kept quiet and are directly responsible for some of the problems in Nigeria today. |
Honestly this is getting extremely boring. Anyway it is irresponsible of you to take one verse out of its context and make assumptions from it. As for the ones in the Old Testament which you attempted to contextualize, I might address them some other time if I am in the mood. |
B cos they dont love you ![]() |
Good. Doesnt look like the typical cheesy Nigerian stuff. |
Maybe they think we've had enough of our local preachers. This is not a perfect parallel, but why do we invite foreign musicians to our major concerts, gospel and secular? Its also about bringing the popular foreign preachers close to the people. BTW I wonder why payment to them is called an honorarium, it is almost like a compulsory wage. Very few preachers will agree to go to another church outside their network for free. Some of them even demand a certain standard of hotel, transport, equipment, music, etc, otherwise they are not coming. |

viaro:Please re-read my post. You will notice that I spoke of a "thread", and I see a separate childboard as unnecessary and unrealistic. There are threads that are given the same 'protection' that I described. Anyone is free to openly, constructively and politely criticize another religion on the main child board. It is impossible to give the Buddhists a space where they can talk about their religion without any criticism. However if they so desire it as this thread indicates, I think it is only fair that they at least get a thread; after all the Christians have their own. This is not a formal rule of the forum, it is just my discretion and I stand to be duly corrected. |
Is this about witchcraft or about optical illusions? Because the latter has nothing to do with religion. |
BADLEE:Hahahaha Ordinarily I should delete this post because it contains personal insults, but I'll leave it because its so funny, and because you need to know this:No moderator can ban, only the supermoderator and Seun can. And that you make such spontaneous, spurious and false judgments on my person is comical. |
all we have are bashing and opinionated threads . . . , with no room for intellectual and rich debates anymore. This is my own point of view. There is still plenty room for intellectual and rich debates. In fact, the forum never got smaller, and the 'principal actors' were never banned. So I am quite confused by your assertion. Many enlightening threads are created from time to time, but it appears that the very controversial ones are the more popular, hence they get more posts and remain on the front page of the child board. It is a direct reflection of users' activities on the forum, it is not like it is deliberately engineered by someone behind the scenes. If users choose not to post "threads that raise intellectual posers and provoke deeply thought-out debates", they will not be, simple as that. From my own understanding, there is a fairly thin line between being tolerant of criticism and preventing unwarranted abuse and defamation of one's religion. It is the reason why till tomorrow, a lot of threads will be argumentative and controversial, and they will be permitted on the forum. It is when these are not factual and merely sentimental, or when they degenerate into personal attacks that they cannot be tolerated. The whole idea of "Islam for Muslims" unfortunately makes this space the only place for cross-religious debate. Pastor AIO:He will be |
I did not lock the threads because of their content. I locked them because you were posting the same topic three times which is against the rules of the forum. |
Jesus made as many appearances as He needed to, to convince them that He resurrected as you say. The rest of us are supposed to believe by faith, including the many churches that a witness (Paul) wrote to. It's what you call blindness/brainwashing, its what we call faith. Without faith, it is impossible to please God, and those who believe in Him must believe that He is, whether they have seen Him or not. |

Hanoobaba:Because all threads about the forum/members/mods belong here. If you still have a problem e-mail the mod of this section.
ok! start a thread on buddhism in the religion section while you're waiting for your childboard. since you say you want to show the rest of us how to discuss religion in a quiet manner. we all want to learn from you so go ahead. ask the moderator to ban or delete any "detractor" who ventures into there.
Exactly. I doubt you will get a childboard, there is much more representation with other religions right now. A thread will be perfect for now and we (mods) will try our best to keep it clean for you guys. |
Ok thats enough. Y'all can meet up to continue your fight over coffee. |
https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-349654.0.html Two similar threads cannot run concurrently on the forum. My apologies for a delayed response. |
Chain mail, but nice anyway. |
https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/board-19.0.html I moved this thread to Health because it has more to do with that than with Religion. |
Freedom on credit, ![]() |

And why should this thread be moved to this section?
