What kind of cooking are you interested in? Nigerian cuisine?
Some good restaurants and well run fast foods might be a place to start if you’re interested in working temporarily in their kitchen to gain some experience and learn new recipes. You can find ones that don’t require you to be an expert in cooking in order to work for them.
Thank you.

I'm interested in Pastry and baking art. I tried one good fast food, the head chef said the fee is 350k o. I was shocked.

I almost made banga today but I chickened out and made something I was more familiar with. I’ll watch YouTube 3 more times and then try it sometime next week cheesy
Banga is easy to make. The issue is the mashing and extraction of the juice

Happy Sunday foodies

Please I have a question that has been bothering me. I want to become a professional chef but the money for culinary school is not within my budget and most of the schools here in Nigeria don't offer scholarship.

How do one get to work under a chef? I don't know the procedure. Please someone with experience should help me out

Below is another cake I baked

ogbongenet:
Good evening my good people, Greetings to all Christians all over the world. I WISH YOU HAPPY EASTER AND I PRAY THAT THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS WILL NOT BE IN VAIN OVER OUR LIFE.
I have been so busy nowadays, the cucumber project really took much of our time that we nearly forget we still have some other project neglected, in short this cucumber of a plant require too much time and care. For the past two weeks we are so busy staking our yam (just 6plots).
And mind you we still have the seed yam project, pepper and Golden Mellon. The major problem is that we don't have enough hands,to get farm worker this days is not easy, most of our youth are not ready to get their hands dirty but dey won ride vensa. By God grace later today or tomorrow I will create another trend for seed yam production (stay tune).
I GREET THOSE THAT KEEP CALLING AND SENDING SMS..MISS YOU ALL.
Well-done sir

Hello!

Have you tried cultivating Rijk Zwaan cucumber. It's called Mydas. Mydas has:
Extended shelf life
High resistance to CCU and intermediate resistance to CMV
The taste differs from your regular cucumber. It has improved taste (you could visit our farm to try one)
Higher yield
Early maturation/ harvest.
It is a parthenocarpic variety (it does not require an external pollinating agent, it is self pollinating)
It can be cultivated both indoor and outdoor

Below is a pics of our growing Mydas. The average fruit weight is 400g, if properly managed, you get up to 600g per fruit

Hello my respectable farmers,

please i need you all to put me through everything i need to kick off my cucumber farm. the land is cleared about 5Ha. though i intend planting 1 or two first to see how it goes. please i need your imputs.

God bless us all.
Prepare your land. U may use pre-emergence herbicides to control weeds. Cucumber does well in sandy loam soil
Get the right variety for the market. Most Nigerian market prefer green, medium size cucumber
Do your soil analysis to know if your soil is alkaline or acidic.
Do the pH test (5.5 - 6.5)
Mulching. This will be of great help. It helps conserve soil moisture, it also help in weed control.
After 2 weeks of sowing, apply fertilizer. Some people use NPK 20:10:10 while some prefer Urea.
Staking. Stake your cucumber plants to avoid crawling thereby ensuring straighter fruits, uniform fruit colour and effective disease mangement.
Prune the first 4 fruits to ensure uniform growth
Prune side shoots to direct the flow of nutrients to the main vine.
Prune lower leaves when the lower fruits are matured.

Most importantly sow good quality seeds that are high yielding, resistant to certain diseases and has good shelf life.

I'd advice Mydas from Rijk Zwaan.
It is a slicer cucumber with an average length of 22cm.
It produces dark green fruits with longer shelf life and fantastic taste.
It is also parthenocarpic (it does not require agents of pollination).
It can be cultivated in both open field and green house.
