The reason most Christians are showing this level of vexation over an issue not pertinent to them is because of the high level of partiality shown to northerners especially the Muslim. If an exception is going to be made for this religion even in secular and aristocratic organisation like the NBA, it is going to creep.to the banking sector, the NDA and little by little, the spirit of uniformity will die in areas where they should be important.

I really hope I'm talking to a matured and unbiased individual that will not be prejudiced because of the struggle at hand, but picture catholics with their swinging crosses, deeper life and their turbans, the Lord's Chosen and their Apron, and some alhajas the will want to.wear the full length hijab and even covering their face tomorrow, all of them got this instruction from the lord.

And the reverse is the case with northerners. If this same set of people are allowed to change a very sensitive aspect of the law culture, then it safe to.say that the country is biased and more sympathetic to the needs of the Muslims over the Christians.

How many years have dlbc members been crying over the use of trousers for the compulsory service year. How many deeper life corp.members have rejected posting to breweries and other nicotine producing firm and have preferred lesser paying jobs in remote areas for the sake of.their faith? If the country has not listened to.the plea of these people for well over 30 years but will quickly readjust because of a different group of people, is the law then said to be fair?

If her only purpose of existence is to serve the Almighty, most beneficent and merciful, then I know she would fulfil that purpose better without the incumbrance of the law school.

So who is this person fabricating strange tales by moonlight, about something that did not happen? A lady who never agreed to remove her hijab, so how was it thrown on the floor and someone started kicking it? What kind of manafiki assertion is this?

Firdaus case was different. All those present at the call to bar ceremony stated that the incident with Firdaus took place outside the Hall. Several people pleaded with her to remove the hijab, but she refused. Even Justice Alfa Belgore the former Chief Justice appealed to her to do what is right, but she still refused. After a while she even insulted those trying to get her to see reason and remove the hijab. When they saw she was not ready to do so, they left her alone but she was not allowed entry into the hall.

To even imagine that a Chief Justice would beg her, a mere aspirant, to remove her hijab is a pointer that this girl has total disregard for law and order. And it has eaten into her head. How did such a strong headed fellow pass through Law school in the first place?

If she had succeeded with this act of rebellion, maybe a deeper lifer would insist on wearing khaki skirt to NYSC camp. I can even decide to join the military with tattoos and overgrown beards.

She wants to be a lawyer, NBA did not beg her to study law. If the cut off mark for Law is, say 270 and she got 269, would it be right to give her admission based on 269? She has seen where her people from the North got admitted to tertiary institutions with low scores due to Federal Character and Quota system. She has even read when JAMB wanted to make their cutoff mark to be 100 (out of 400,which is a paltry 25%) so as to favour her people. So her shallow thinking confused her into believing that anything can be compromised. We can't tolerate it any further.

It is true that Nigerians are very religious people. Christians and Muslims alike came to be called to Bar, and this one came to do identification of faith. Maybe she has been getting away with such deviant acts but on that day, Karma decided to pay her a visit.

No one is persecuting her for her religion. She is not under any compulsion to practice law. If her quest for knowledge clashes with the laws of Allah, she should choose Allah (S.W.T.).

If it is his will for her to practice law he will create a way for it. She should have appealed for a change in the Law School Bye laws from her first year. It is not a hard thing for God to do. But this action of hers just screams rebellion.

Deeper life bible church expressly forbids it members from selling liquor. Let's say DLBC member applies for a job in Nigerian brewery, and gets hired. Will it be reasonable for this individual to refuse to work because it is a sin against the Lord but will want to be paid?
What will you say if CAN or PFN or Just DLBC members in general take placards and start protest on the behalf of this member?

A traditionalist that is forbidden from seeing blood wants to become a Medical doctor and he/she refuses to perform any operation because it is against his/her religion yet, she wants to be inducted as a surgeon?

If she was in school before the law was introduced, precedence might occur. It might be said that she was targeted because of her belief. But she knew of this law before applying for the course. If it was something she couldn't abide by, she should have switched to Islamic law (the higher law). You can't eat your cake and have it. You can't be inducted while wearing your hijab. I think if designed properly, the wig can cover the hair up to a reasonable extent.

I just pray Nigerians will be blessed with understanding. If this Lady is inducted, then it means I will declare any day I choose as a special day for my 'god' as a traditionalist and bring the whole of the country to halt on that day. No work, no business, nothing because the laws of the land should come second to any word I hear from my 'god'.

If I do that today, Atheist Celebrate Darwin's day as public holiday, Agnostics celebrate on Sunday and the god of wood on Monday, the god of fish on Wednesday, then the whole country will be controlled by the whims of men in the name of one god or the other. But these laws are no respecter of persons, religion, gender, age, tribe or wealth.

If you can't live by them why don't you just avoid situations that will call that to question?

My fear is that Nigeria will bend to this case because they are using the victimisation and islamophobia banner. It is not seen as insubordination of a girl against the rules of a school. It is seen as persecution of Muslims by Christians. Bitter Truth About Lady Who Refused To Remove Her Hijab & So Was Denied Admission To The Nigerian Bar.


So as people keep on raving about the lady who refused to remove her Hijab when she was about to be called to bar, an eye witness, has shared what actually happened during the course of the controversy.



This eye witness, who shares his own view of the whole saga, happens to be one of the officials who screened the aspirants at that time.

He wrote:

I witnessed the baring of the lady from gaining entry into the call auditorium. Kindly note that I was part of the officials that screened Aspirants to the Bar on that very day and I participated in the entry screening for the four batches that were called on those two days.

I witnessed the whole drama … You don’t have an idea of the attitude of that religious extremist of a lady who was not ready to submit her personal sentiments to the rules of this profession. .. See eehh we have what we call “regulation dress code for ladies” in the legal profession.. The attire is clearly spelt out in our code of conduct book.. Hijab is obviously not part of it and you must deal with that obvious fact…

All our laws should not be bent for every wave of religious doctrines or practices… otherwise we won’t have a functional and fair law… My religion makes us believe that black represents evil..should I now wear white suit to law school or for my call to bar because of my religion?

There were over a thousand Muslim ladies we screened for the two days I was on duty ..why should her case be different ? We asked her to step aside and remove her hijab… Imaging about 5 law school lecturers from Abuja campus begging a mere aspirant to the bar to do the right thing and she bluntly refused. Pls we should stop giving this misfit of a lady an undue publicity for such an unpardonable display of crude rudeness to constituted authorities.

Denying her access to the call hall did not in any way violate her right to freedom of worship under Sections 38 or 39 of the 1999 CFRN , We all know that none of the rights enshrined in Chapter 4 of the 1999 CFRN is absolute. The denial was fair, proper and lawful. Note that some Christians prohibit wearing of trouser by ladies , but they allow their ladies wear it during their NYSC . Will you say they are not serious with their religion?

Pls we should all jointly condemn this misbehavior of the lady in question and put an end to this emotional sentiments we project here…

I have met this Buhari’s daughter twice at Coscharis Office in Abuja and at both occasions she wore her hijab, but never wore it during her stay in law school or on her call day… The lady should go to court if she feels she is above the law or that Islam is superior our circular laws.

I want to admit that I have a cousin who has been a victim of this HND issue. But in order for him to get past it, he decided to enrol for PGD and currently doing his MSc.
Although, he has earlier enquired from some universities that he will be eligible for PHD after his MSc.
Now my question,
1)is it advisable to still run BSc or just continue with the MSc since he will be allowed to run PHD?
2)if he then goes to run BSc after his MSc, won't there be issues about the order of his certificates (HND, PGD, MSc, BSc, instead of HND, BSC, MSC)?
