blujoi: My brother, I don’t agree with you on the points raised. The Fulani killings predate PMB, true. But the killings became more amplified under his regime due to his inaction. For a man of integrity is it too much to ask for PMB to bring the perpetrators to book regardless of how highly placed they are. I mean people are killed right in their homes, killers take over a community for days and no military response, nothing but mere rhetorics after the act and no one has been arrested or sponsors revealed or prosecuted. We all can remember that the SGF was relieved of his job after a frenzy of condemnation from anti-corruption groups. Was he ever prosecuted? I would think that someone who flaunts Integrity would have had the SGF behind bars by now, Maina nko? Any prosecution even after overwhelming evidence. PMB has nothing to do with Innoson, that is between GTB and Innoson, what about is Chief of staff, Daura and all that has been linked to him, he still has his job. See I had hope in PMB but he messed up big time. If not for anything I would have expected the IG and the minister for interior to lose their jobs after the carnage in Jos and Benue. Do you see the vigor with which the army is searching for killers of the army general in plateau state? Why can’t this same energy by channelled into getting the sponsors of these killings? PMB disappointed a lot of people and that’s why today a person like Atiku has a chance. Bless you o jare. Bolded sums it up. Were PMB not the collosal disappointment that he turned out to be, this election would have been a walk over for him. Aside from modest gains in Agriculture, there's virtually nothing to show for his 3+ years than galloping poverty, unprecedented mind numbing acts of nepotism, fledgling corruption, etc. . . Abeg I don tire |

YourImaginaryBF: you support Atiku despite admitting he's corrupt. What wonders are you expecting a thief like Atiku to perform? Is sad that we're at this level, but at this point, I think I'll go for a corrupt Atiku than a corrupt PMB. Did I hear you say the latter not corrupt?? Let's not even go there. PMB has been an unmitigated disappointment to his supporters. Yes, I, like many others, were once his ardent supporter. Ordinarily this election would have been a walk over for him, but the fact hes struggling to even list the most basic of his achievement show just poor his records are. Of course we didn't expect PMB to perform miracles, but had he lived up the expectation of his two must vaunted credentials, anticorruption and security, then perhaps I would be more optimistic. |

emmy2807: Some Nigerians are politically and economically naive by bringing party or the president in this issue of minimum wage, its a very delicate issue because its not just about increasing it, its about being able to pay it. Truly this doesnt goes along the line of political parties so lets leave that out, its about the national problem we have. Truly a state can pay any minimum wage if its workforce is right sized, benue state for example has the third highest salary bill in nigeria, and there is no justification for that knowing the fact that benue doesnt rank amongst the richest states, such a state would easily afford any mininum wage by correcting its workforce's size, but however no governor would want to thread that path majorly because of the fear of losing electoral favour. The only way forward is if the constitution can to amended to allow each state have its own minimum wage, so then we can throw stone at the right people, because as it stand any new minimum wage would surely affect some states. @bolded, I agree, but I think thats only part of the problem. I agree the workforce in some states are ridiculously overbloated. Indeed, at the risk of generalizing, I make bold to say if you've ever been to some state secretariats you'll be shocked at the level of redundancy there. But the problem is what can governors do? engage in mass sacking, like one of the south east governors did some years back or just simply owe them months on end? To me, like I posited earlier, the real problem is the current structure of the country. Simply reducing the workforce is not going to cut it; it involves something far more drastic, like an overall reduction and collapsing of states. Our current 'modified socialism' which in effect is what we're practicing, is not sustainable. We dont have the resources for that. However these are very VERY difficult and inconvenient - even politically suicidal - issues that no politician would ever want to risk considering. So the silly self deceit of 20k min wage continues. . . |

Politics › Re: FG Proposes N24,000 Minimum Wage; States N20,000; NLC Wants N30,000 by alezzy13: 5:09pm On Oct 10, 2018 |
The crux of the problem is our country's structure. It is inherently defective.
Yes, I know its not an attractive proposition, but many states (in fact some say as much as half of them) have no reason existing as autonomous entities.. They are simply conduit pipes for oil wealth to fill up the bank accounts of politicians and top civil servants (aides, 'special' personal adviser, etc)
That's why I see all these rancor for increase as silly as it is futile. Those cursing the SGs for claiming 20k, should ask themselves: is it those states struggling to pay N18k that are now expected to pay 20k?
I'm sure those that agreed to the 20 did so out fear of being blackmailed by NLC; its election season after all. But i struggle to see how tey will be able to meet the monthly wage bills.
*sigh* |

yinkaoke: By now, rates for treasury bills should be above 13.5% particularly for 364days where it has peached for some time now, no thanks to the Banks(PDMM), who has in recent times bided low for fear of losing their bids.
It seems to me that CBN is using the two Tb’s market to play down the rates; they in recent times use the Primary market to beat down the rate observing the liquidity levels, then come in through the OMO (Secondary market) to mop up the excess liquidity at their idea rates which must have being their CAP.
All in all it is the banks(PDMM’s) that can help to force them to push up this rates if they drastically reduce their demands. @bolded totally agree. My bank gave me 12.9% for 365 which I considered low. But I know they lost their last bid so were playing safe. However to your last paragraph, I'm not sure banks have a say here. The money is not thiers so theyre carrying out the wishes of thier clients. If anything, its we (the investors) that can bid up the rates if all decide move away from TBs |

WritePal: OP, there's a theory flying around in hush tones that the reasons are not economic or even about Emefiele. That it is an order from above.
Or how come lower notes like N50 and N20 have recent dates of 2017 and 2018, but only the N100 printed by Jonathan (the 2014 anniversary ones) and the ones that predates his administration are in circulation? How come no one in the presidency has raised any objection to the presence of mangled N100 naira notes everywhere? How come you should be more concerned than them?
So, what's the theory? You asked
That it's all because there are no Aramaic/Arabic notes in the 2014 Centenary Anniversary N100 as GEJ got them removed.
That Buhari would have ordered the Emefiele/CBN to revert to printing the old N100 notes that had the Aramaic/Arabic notes instead, but refrained on advice so as to not to appear as vindictive and openly religiously bigot. So, he decided both the old and new N100 notes are left and none is reprinted. So you cannot find a N100 note printed later then 2014!
You can investigate. It's a theory. Maybe just a conspiracy theory or a fact. Abeg u guys should stop all these crap. What about 20, 50 naira notes? Have their printing also been stopped? |

nobilie: Do you know that changing new currency in different denominations is a business in Nigeria. This shouldn't be. Commercial banks sell mints to people who hold the money until they meet with someone ready to pay for them. At a market in Lagos, you'll receive N650(in N100 new note) for N1000 old note. People spray this new notes at occasions. Celebrants then keep the notes to spend at special times. This is also one of the reasons new #100 notes are rearly available. So where do those marketers get the new notes from? |
Business › Re: Godwin Emefiele, How Hard Is It To Print New 100 Naira Notes?! Educate Us!! by alezzy13: 1:56pm On Oct 03, 2018 |
theoldpretender: If you want new 100 nara notes
1.Be prepeared for run away inflation...because overexcess of samll denomination naira notes means more money chasing few goods=inflation.
2.Be prepared for our foreign exchange reserve to be drained even more...BECAUSE it costs billions of dollars to print notes..which means less dollars to buffer the naira= inflation.
Better we find ways to improve our forex reserve by...you know...removing subsidies, fighitng kwarruption pery well, industrial development, getting off oil dependency. Which kind boju boju economics be this? Printing of lower denomination notes leading to inflation? When in fact it is the direct opposite. It is the higher denominated notes that actually lead to inflation. |
Politics › Re: I Just Torn My Apc Card. My Personal Message To Tinubu. by alezzy13: 1:39pm On Oct 03, 2018 |
Drabeey: Hello everyone, thanks to everyone who love democracy and have opted to follow this cause till the end!
Well, it's not the end of the road, we should actually make it a point of call to see our country out this mess our fathers plunged it! I couldn't hold back my tears yesterday while seeing youths follow the path of money, while they actually went on to vote for the candidate with the highest bargain.
I realised how so astray we've been led in the country. I asked someone who he was actually voting for yesterday, he said "sanwoolu lole se ooo (im for sanwoolu) , I probed further, asking him why he is voting for sanwoolu and he answered "because the party leaders said so". It was at that point I realised 'Ambode' was beyond redemption, I left the queue immediately. I wasn't surprised when the results came and Ambode lost!
Well, this shows how corrupt and unwilling we are in Nigeria, we are still wanting to live in mediocre. We ain't willing to move on as a nation! So what is the essence of 'youth leadership' when actually the youths are even more corrupt. A vivid example is that of the NANS, gone are the days when NANS has its voice heard! We should all cover our faces and weep for our dear nation!
Well, I already torn my APC membership Card slip, and I'm not afraid to say this! I would use every breath remaining in me to fight for what is right! I would make sure my pen is never dry to show Nigeria should have better leaders.
My personal message to Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu. Sir, I really respect you for what you've done with your life, your antecedents too! Yes, you will remain in the history books for life! Sir, I want to call your attention to the story of someone called Adedibu. Oh, he was feared in the whole of south-west. I'm sure you are one of those who paid him his tribute. His story is there for you to learn from! I want to call your attention to that history of the popular Obafemi Awolowo. His story should teach you some things about leaders and history!
My Yoruba people love to say this "saa laani, enikan......(we all have our tenure)". There was a time Kosoko's ruled Lagos, Otedola's used their tenure too and now the Tinubu's. Remember sir that their would be history and we still remember the legacies of the.....
It's is so sacred that Tinubu wanted Buhari's second term but rejected Ambode's second term. I'm sure it is because he is from the minority clan of Lagos, it shouldn't be because of performance. We all know who performed best between Buhari and Ambode. When a state governor can even commission more projects than the country's president . Well, Nairaland should please put my words out. Maybe DSS would arrest me tommorow, I don't know but I'm not afraid of telling you (Tinubu) that you ridiculed people from Epe and showed us we are indeed minority, but sir "saa laani, eni kan kolo ile aye gbo".
Drabeey Wrote This. Kpele oooo. Wipe your tears. However while I am certainly not holding brief I think you overestimate the influence of Tinubu even in Lagos. The fact is he was merely following the bidding of powerful disaffected APC members. Any attempt on his part to override them would have been his end in the state. |
