Since majority of them are almajiris like you, can you please tell them to also force the Federal government to hang off the over 600 billion naira it generates from Lagos ports yearly?
the last time i checked the population of northerners in lagos is less than 2 million. also the lagos port is owned by the FG so it can not be given to Tinubu to enrich his account

lets not derail the topic

come to think of it, if lagos is a commercial capital and it is for all nigerians then why can't the FG COME TO THERE Rescue and not only that. the state should be collecting the second highest allocation after Kano. given the fact of there population

i mean how can revenue for just 10 million people help 18 million people

really i think ACN has to take this deportation scheme serious

The Senate on Thursday rejected a prayer to pay a condolence visit to Lagos over the floods that ravaged the state last Sunday.

The Senate also rejected the motion for it to ask the Federal Government to assist Lagos in finding solutions to the problem of flooding, asking states affected by floods to apply to the Ecological Fund for help.

However, Senators observed a minute silence for the dead victims of the disaster.

The Senate’s position came as a response to Senator Ganiyu Solomon’s motion in which he said Lagos faced the prospect of being totally submerged in water.

Over 14 hours of downpour had caused unprecedented floods in Lagos, in which many people were killed, houses were submerged and infrastructure destroyed.

An Assistant Director in the Nigeria Institute for Oceanography and Marine Research, Dr. Regina Folorunsho, on Wednesday, had said that Lagos received in a day the rain expected in one month. “The exact amount of the rain that fell on Sunday was meant for a whole month, but we had it in just one day. There was no way anyone could have prepared for such amount of rainfall,’’ Folorunsho said in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.

The Senate slammed government emergency agencies for their “slow response” to the disaster in Lagos and other states that had suffered flooding. Oyo, Katsina and Ogun states also experienced downpours that caused floods same day as Lagos.

The Senate resolved that the country must do more in meeting the challenges posed by natural disasters, including flooding and desertification.

It asked the Federal Road Maintenance Agency to urgently undertake the repair of federal roads destroyed by the floods, and urged the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency to remove all the wrecked ships in Nigeria’s coastal areas.

President of the Senate, David Mark, said, “Our reaction to national disasters is not the best; we should be thankful that we are not having them regularly.

“The problem is that there is a misunderstanding of state of emergency. Otherwise, a state of emergency is what is required in situations like this. We should have our soldiers in these areas handling the situation.

“Declaration of a state of emergency is not to remove the governor, but to get the troops on ground to help the states resolve the problems.”

Ganiyu, in presenting his motion, had said that the Lagos tragedy occurred as a result of the severity of the rain.

He said, “There is a concern that the state which is the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria has been shut down and economic activities grounded to a halt with fears being expressed of the state being submerged.

“Some federal roads, particularly the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway collapsed in three places, thereby hampering the movement of people in and out of Lagos and that axis of the South-West. The Oshodi-Apapa Expressway was also flooded and it is in a danger of collapse and therefore requires attention.”

He called for a collaborative effort between the states and the Federal Government to provide relief materials to the victims and to stem the tide to avert further loss of lives.

He added that there had been cases of flooding and displacement of people and properties in Oyo, Ogun, Katsina and Kano states.

Also, senators who made contributions drew attention to the problem of response to emergency situations by the NEMA, noting that there was the need to equip the agency to be able to mitigate the effects of disasters.

Senator Smart Adeyemi from Kogi State said the Senate should be prepared to ensure that NEMA was properly equipped to do its work. Also, Senator George Sekibo from Rivers State called for effective prediction of pending disasters so that steps could be taken to protect citizens.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency had predicted that the country would witness unusual large volume of rain in the year.

Concerning MEND, I think they've moved on. A couple of months ago I was about submitting a bid for a contract in one of the oil majors when a friend in their employ called me out and advised me to consider bidding for something else as i stood absolutely no chance, i asked him why and his answer was straight 4word; Tompolo had also submitted a bid!
These guys have been empowered and IMO have achieved something laudable, gone r the days when people in the delta were scorned at when they submitted bids, now they r a force to be respected and a number of them have legions of welders and other artisans under their employment. Some still obtain contracts and sell off, but all in all, its more of a plus than a minus considering these were contracts usually handed out to complete strangers in the past. So tell me, na who go throw the bombs?
na them go throw the bomb

That organization is nothing but thieves, oil bunkerers, kidnappers, and murderers of innocent Nigerians. If they were serious about the emancipation of Niger Delta, they would have stepped up their game, given the government's current predicaments.
which means i was right
my view on this is the same as you

the name MEND is  Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta

now if so, then Jonathan is the president why did they stop the movement undecided

u see all this MEND, Boko haram, OPC and soon Massob Massoi(igbo) are all politcal weapon for selfish individuals to gain power

remember 1996-2005 when OPC was rampant, OBJ used them to get into power

MEND Gej/ edwin clark used them to get power

boko haram, TO me ciroma, IBB , atiku and co are using them to get to power 2015/2019

very soon peter obi too would use massob to get into power after this people

the reality is that power comes at a cost, well in this case it is the common man in nigeria

what MEND did was the beginning of the end of nigeria. QUOTE ME ON THIS

they even threaten to go civil war if GEJ is not made the president

just before the election in october 2010 , they bombed ABUJA killing 15 people to show that if GEJ does not become the president they will destroy this conutry

MEND INTRODUCED BOMBING AS A FORM OF TERRORISM TO NIGERIA

not only that, they bombed lagos and yet accuse the SW people of tribalism like they can do the same in balysea

now GEJ is the president, they stopped fighting for the  "Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta"

HYPOCRITES bunch of political weapons

the amount of people MEND killed alone is bad enough

NOW BOKO HARAM has joined the chase

"what is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander" i dey laff oooo

if mend can do so, then boko haram can do better so as to get power

IN eve of the elction when there was report that bombs and weapons was imported to the country

was there any investigation?   NO

now bombs everywhere, they want to investigate after the bombs have been circulated

MY BROTHER NDU CHUKS

just siddon they look as this funny country dey destroy slowly but surly
Ikwerre is an Igboid language that has its roots in Igbo. Pre-Colonial Ikwerre people were a subgorup of the Igbo people that migrated south towards the Atlantic coast during the period between the 1500s-1800s.

In Lagos today, in an area called Epetedo. There is a clan of Tapa (Nupe) that have been there since 1850s. They have existed in Lagos itself since the reign of Oba Eshilokun in late 1700s.

They still have their customs, traditions, names (sanda, idagi, and so on). In fact they switch from yoruba to tapa language when it pleases them.

Their situation is no different than Ikwerre but Nupe people are not laying claim to epetedo as a territory.

The itshekiri and the ijebus speak the same language but ijebu is not claiming tsekiri land as its own.

Learn from these examples and leave people land alone.

Let them come to you if they want to be with you. So far they have expressed the desire to distance from you.

Then leave 'em alone!

Odumchi, Biafra is gone. Look to the present okay, somebody else, not Igbo, own p'racourt.
i have to agree with u on this

the act of forcing or begging or whatever to please or tell ikwerre people that they are igbo is making matters worse

the more this is done, the more they try to dissociate themselves

to me ikwerri people are more or less igbos but if they say no, then let them be

really this act is making my igbo brothers and sisters annoying

The Senate President, Senator David Mark on Thursday pushed for the declaration of a State of Emergency in areas affected by last weekend torrential downpour in Lagos and other parts of the country.
He explained that the move is geared towards assisting the affected areas in line with the global practices.
The Senate President, who spoke at the end of the motion on Flood Disaster in Lagos State, moved by Senator Ganiyu Solomon, said the Federal Government should be ready to use the ecological fund to assist the affected states in their time of needs.
He also called on states to be more prepared for such disasters by alerting the federal government in good time.
The senate also urged the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NMASA) to remove all wrecked ships from Nigeria’s water ways.
The upper legislative chamber later observed a minute silence in honour of those who lost their lives as a result of flood.

what i would have imagined is u saying that all farmlands should be fenced

you see put urself in the fulanis shoes

he has over 100 cattles and thus to control them from farm lands is really difficult

the best is for farmlands to fence there land so the fulani herdmen can graze freely

i think this is a better idea
