Beaf: You people keep on licking your arses about Itsekiri's joining the SW. It will never ever happen. I don't even know how you people think. Even if there are some people foolish enough to want to be an oil bearing minority in a strange land, are they going to jump over Ijaw territory into the SW? Abi no be Ijaw people de Ondo state apart from Yoruba?
I just keep hearing this foolish stuff echoing and re-echoing on NL and somehow, boko harem is always involved. calm oga beaf. What Ijaw territory are you talking about ? Do you mean the some Ijaws that called Aworis, Mahin and Ilaje Ijaws ? Even in this Ondo, some Apoi Ijaws would "HATE" if you call them Ijaw. Go read about Abike Dabiri, SR owner and co. This Arogbo Ijaws are probably Migrates or so. Let me remain you that Ilajes are also in delta state and there land contribute 10% in the Oil reserve in delta. Moreover Lagos state has offshore crude oil so this is not about Oil as you preserve it to be. Clearly there would be adjustment of territories but I can tell you know that if the Itsekiris DECIDE they want to be SW then I believe in the name of justice that they are given that request. It is only fair I mean the Ijaws left SW at there own accord so why can itsekiris leave SS. any explanation ? |

harambe: @alj_harem, that is why i said that each region can create as many states as it wants itshekiri can even have its own state inside of SW region. the main point is that they would feel more at home in SW than in SS. Each region will address all these issues. i would even want about 4 regions for the whole of Nigeria. Each region can design its own future through conferences and agreements. I see your point. |

harambe: @haka_nai
When the geopolitical zones are redrawn to reflect common sense and address minority fears, effectively putting agitating minorities within their own regions, the rest of the country would be more stable. Some minority may choose to be in majority regions (eg Itshekiri may prefer SW region) too; don't forget that, In the East, we can have as many states as are demanded by whoever provided it brings stability to the region. So the Abia state scenario will never arise. Don't forget that resource control will be in full force. Current system will never work in a million years. ah . I think Haka_nai Post is very very accurate to Nigerians issue Take a look at Kaduna, The south wants to form there own state from the northern part. Again do you remember old Ondo state ? Where the Ekitis felt marginalised and had to form there own state way from the main Ondo. Now look at Kogi, Delta etc Even if Itsekiri want to join the "SW" The same problem would still be immanent which is after regionalism starts lets say they have joined the SW, the problem would still be there in Itsekiri (Warri/iwere state) which would contain Ilajes, some urhobos and co. They would want separation from Iwere state thus back to square one. The truth is that this problem of marginalization and being a minority in a state would not stop until Nigerian mature to know that not every tiny group would be a majority in a state. |

micawber: It is too, i mean very early enough for Rochas to start with online thugs. We know about this in the recent history of IMO politics. Referring to me makes your defence for Rochas more open to criticism. The person you address (Myself) is a true son of the land, and cannot be deceived even when others accept to be deceived. The same Governor that was at Imsu on Friday last week to initiate internal fund generation strategy from IMSU sponsored 60 students with over N66m to US. Who are you people cunnnig?
Rochas said Education will be free to tertiary level, >Yet He diverted all good secondary schools to Mission. >IMSU acceptance fees is still N50,000. >School fees was not reduced both in IMSU and IMOPY. >Banks were shut-down for one full week in IMO. >Nekede/FUTO road remain impassable. >YOuths loiter in search of jobs.
I made a request from you. I am here in Works layout, Tell me the schools, and departments. You said your "coursemates" were among? Just tel;l me their department. Do you know how many people between CPGA of 3.0-4.+ in FUTO, and IMSU? In FUTO alone you could get as much as 500 with 4.0+

Rochas has decided to take education to the next level with the Student Exchange Programme. LOOL See me see wahala Amu gi ezeuche. Use ur brain for once and switch off ur igbotic tribalistic tendency JUST FOR ONCE AND THINK. How has this taken education in Imo state to the next level ? . Please nwanne Uchenna answer or forever hold ur peace PointB: . Every right thinking individual will encourage their leaders to pay more attention, not just to the quantity but also the quality of education. So every right thinking man would encourage his/her leader to send 60 Youths to USA for an eductional programme . Are you thinking at all sad sad sad pathetic PointB: This a state governor who declared: http://imostate.blog.com/2011/09/27/refresher-manifesto-of-his-excellency-governor-rochas-okorocha/
He has taken the right step in pursuing his agenda, while others are still to understand what they signed up for. I also think that, this is what governors in the Northern part of the country should emulate. But then, taking the donkey to the stream is far different from getting it to drink water.
Btw Ahj Harem, your attempt to tarnish Rochas because of your preference for Sanusi Lamido in 2015 is well documented, so don't come here pretending as if you are an unbiased observer. Some of the comments here are absolutilly amazing. Well as they say, you get the leader you deserve. I mean see how Nigerians are thinking, THIS IS WHY NIGERIA HAS NOT MOVE UP SINCE THE WESTERN LEADER DIE. OchukoII: @Poster: Usually, I enjoy reading posts and all without commenting. In this case, I felt your biased post needed a response.
Why is it that when people are trying to make things better the only thing you see is an ill motive? I think the fact that he is spending state resources on students from the state to grant them an opportunity to see things is a wise thing.
Okorocha may not be a saint, I know next to nothing about him, but please, if you have nothing constructive to say, then just keep your opinions to yourself. On students by sending them abroad ?? when the state's uni is not up to scratch Fhemmmy: Anything good in him sending people to USA and on 7000$$ allowance, while our schools and training centres in Nigeria are left in ruins? thank you OchukoII: I Doubt if it is Okorocha's duty to help the Federal government restructure the educational sector. He is doing what he can (within the limits of his Jurisdiction). As for the $7000, it sure seems like a lot when you consider the total sum, however, if the state would send them abroad for 6 months, the state should also cater for them. I am not sure $7000 is not too much, however I still think it is a good plan. Is Imo state university in part of his jurisdiction ? What of the other students in Imo What of those studing the same course as the students he sent abroad, should they not be give the same equal opportunity ? chima ike: Poster please don't critisize Okorocha for no just reason, u can never deny it that the training these guys will acquire in US can be the same with Nigeria. He is empowering them with knowledge, u dont force people to sponsor the program, the government can start and other Imolites can start. Abeg stop critisizing the man unjustly. WTF What are you talking about so those in Nigeria should not be empowered with knowledge abi. What of those in Imo state uni PointB: In real life, millions look up to a few.
Obama, GEJ, even a despot like Buhari, and a rascal like Tinubu are all looked up to by millions. Thats how things work in real life. So no big deal, if selected few are given more exposure, than average exposure for all and sundry. Can you imagine so what makes you think those selected few would do it right ? Think before you post You give people equal opportunities then the best or the most intelligent would emerge as the leader not just the unintelligent lucky one. STOP POSTING STU.PID COMMENTS kabirgym: Nigerians would always speak as Nigerians. How is investing in the future of the youth in Imo State become a waste. Plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Lets be reasonable here, If you that is currently condemning his move were to be the once sent to the State, would you kick against it? THINK OF IT!!!!. Congratulation Sir, GOV OKOROCHA Keep the Good Work!!!!!!!! he did noT INVEST IN THE YOUTHS OF IMO STATE BUT INVESTED 60 PEOPLE who he hand picked You are speaking like a typical Nigerian Leader and that is why we are still in the quagmire in Nigeria. Investing in the Youth of Imo is Making Imo state uni the best Uni in Nigeria not just sending 60 out of millions of Imo youths to USA. I mean come on iykak47: At least it is better to sponsor 60 Imo students to Usa than to increase school fee from 25,000 naira to 250,000 naira or to conspire with Justice Abdul Fatai Adeyinka to rig local government election. Am sure tribalism wont allow you to pronounce ROCHAS FOUNDATION. igbo2011: @Alj Harem Dud you need to set up a power point presentation about the industries of Nigeria. Then you can give it to a government official to look at and present it. Then maybe you can implement it. You can display how it can create jobs and do a rough estimate on the amount of jobs. Also say how it can be implemented. Then try and pitch it to some people in charge over an iPad or something. Then he might give you a job for the government. You can be the overall coordinator then you can have people on the side help you implement.
Also in agriculture it can be moringa and cassava as well.
Also what do you not like about the sports industry? Brother, to be honest, I have long lost any hope or respect for Nigerian government. That is the truth. In fact all the solutions You and I listed were not meant for the governement but Private investor to look and invest in. Nigeria right now is a private property. In fact if the government does those things, what is the point few years down the line, they would privatise it so what gives ? All i listed was for RICH NAIRALANDS or Nairalanders that know super rich people so they can invest, in turn make money for themselves and employ the youths of Nigeria. Brother please I would advice you as well to forget about the government if you do not want to have a heart attack. We have those working for GEJ on this site, they can tell him if there intentions are pure.but of course they do not care about Nigerian, all they care about is their pockets thats it. While others such as PointB care about there small close minded tribal sentiment that has blinded them to the bigger picture. So bros just leave the government out of this |

igbo2011: Agriculture can provide over 3 million jobs. We have too much farm land that is not even used. Yes very correct. When you talk of agriculture, what I have in mind in plantations. I believe Nigeria can hold at least 10 different plantations apart from the cocoa in ekiti ondo axis, Obasanjo foods in calabra (palm oil) , Also ota farm aka cocoa plantation. That is all we have right now. Other plantations that can be done are abakaliki rice and ofada rice :- Instead of importing 1.2 trillion naira of rice every year, We can reduce the cost the governement use and also provide employment. Kaduna pepper and onions Kwara, poultry, cows etc. This can be done in industrial scale Yam in imo, ekiti and osun more cows in adamawa etc All this would also reduce the cost of food in Nigeria which is affected majorlly by inflation. igbo2011: Tourism is going to be big. We need a Calabar Airlines that goes straight to Calabar from cities around the world. Tourism has poential for the booming hotel business and will create over 500,000 jobs if exploited correctly. Not just Calabar, also Badagry, Lagos, Abuja, and Edo (Benin Kingdom). Correct. People need to see Sokoto, borno, osun, akwa ibom. These cities have great potential for tourism. The int airport in Calabar needs to be working to scratch. but one would have to put down either MMIA or NAA. because people don't travel in Nigeria that much compared to there, moreover id that is further spread to 3 airports, the valiability of the airports is rubbished igbo2011: Sports can create over 100,000 jobs if they are making good money then they can play more games. Then this can trickle down to the youth leagues for coaches and what not. Not only football but basketball, wrestling, tennis, and track and field. Hmm concerning sports. I have my reservations about that. igbo2011: We need to invest BIG money into Nollywood. We need more QUALITY and less quality. This can turn Nollywood into a billion dollar industry. Also kids cartoons have yet to be exploited. KIDS CARTOON is a major sector that needs to be looked at. The japanese make a lot of money from cartoons. In fact it adds to there IGR . igbo2011: Manufacturing can make Nigeria's economy BOOM. All they need is power and roads. The government doesn't want an enabling environment. But if manufacturing is on then more factoiires means more jobs and less importing. This can create 5 million jobs.
Steel and refinery industry will make Nigeria's economy amazing and dynamic. We cannot rely on foreign investors for everything. We must rel on ourselves. Those people who grant road licenses must stop being corrupt because thousdands of Nigerians are dying due to bad roads. correct. Let me just add. Textile industry :- From the material whether synthetic or natural (from agriculture of cotton and wool) to dyes ( Chemical engineering industry). To accounting, project manager, distribution banking etc. Think of it. |

The aftershock is still been felt as we speak. If banks employ 3 class graduates what has that got to do with anything?
I must be in very good mode to even entertain this appalling ignorance of yours. People will just open their mouth to yarn what they know next to nothing about. I am a American, as if that somehow manages to fill his knowledge gap. You see, SLS bailout the banks YES WE ALL KNOW THIS. Right now the banks are been given money to employ labour. in fact in the banking sector salaries range from 80 to 150 thousand Naira. This is done to "mop up" the unemployed youths in Nigeria. That is why I said you are an american, well bros, the way america system works is different from that of Nigeria. You people need to start getting it in ur heads. igbo2011: Yes concrete jobs as in engineers, scientists, farmers, those people PRODUCE. We need people to produce from IGR, GDP, forex, and jobs. We cannot import everything. Those engineers can design great cars for Innoson. If there are bad engineers then hire a foreigner for 2 years and have the youth learn under him/her so they can get better. When that person leaves then the apprentices can do it their selves. Same for scientists, faarmers, etc.
I agree with you 100%. I am not buying american .european clothes alnymore. I want my closet to be Nigerian clothes. This will help the tailors gain money. With more demand comes more people joining the industry. Then more compettiton then lesser price.
Governor Chime bought Innoson buses for his state of Enugu. All nigerian governors need to do the same thing. I really want to work for their marketing team though. I have expeirence marketing and I think that I can help them a lot. If you have connections to anybody who works with them, let me know. EXACTLY MY SENTIMENT EXACTLY . You actually could read my mind on this issue. In Nigeria, everyone;Infact 90% of the skilled workers are either banking sector or accountancy firms. Oil sectors employ Nigerians as well but would prefer foreigners as there engineers etc You do get my point. Other governors can not buy Innoson right now because 1. Innoson lack the capacity to deliver to all states 2. The Fg is not helping 3. There are no regulatory bodies to check the health and safety issue associated with it. I am sure there are other reason but that is all for now. Innoson cars has the ability to employ 300,000 youths if not more directly or indirectly. I am even exaggerating |

And who told banks are the biggest employer of youth in the country? Do u have any evidence? My friend sometimes it is better to shut up than to expose you level of ignorance. I pity ME for even engaging with an american who does not know anything about Nigeria not to talk of the banking sector. There was a bail out which the government did to help the banks YES we all know this. After which the government DECIDED (not sure which era) to be paying banks to subsidize the cost of labour. The banking sector is SATURATED BUT STILL EMPLOY PEOPLE because of this reason . You can finish as a 3rd class doctor and still get a job in Nigerian banks because of this reason. PointB: @Igbo2011, lets be realistic in our expections and criticism. Outside subsidy, government is not in the business of funding private company. The banks are responsible for that at the own risk and premium. Besides, if it we so easy to throw money at companies and produce good result, the likes of oceanic, intercontinental, etc banks will not be having problems. Governance, policy making and economics planning is also not exact science. If in doubt ask Greece, Spain, Italy, and co. Yesterday's fantastic ideas, have turned to disasters today. Getting it right requires serious balancing act. So sir, i don't think urn idea can stand the test of time. It sounds like communism! Point B, I think you are clueless to what you are talking about 1. Yes the FG fund private companies and banks. In fact mAJORITY of the new generation banks are given money by the Government provided they provide jobs to Nigerian. 2. These same companies are already saturated with workers but still they employ workers to satisfy the government. Ie back to what I AM SAYING there are not "concrete jobs" for the youths. Currently the banking sector is the highest employees of Youths ranging from those that got a 3rd class in PHE or drama to those that did not even pass through Uni but have connection ie transferable skills. The government is clueless on how to leave this quagmire, that is why they still pay each bank billions of Naira each year for this. The solution igbo2011 and I propose is one of the solutions the government can use to provide concrete jobs for people. |

igbo2011: Not yet the submissions are due soon. Reno updates his twitte r and facebook about the youwin scheme: http://twitter.com/#!/renoomokri
But I think the program is silly. They should just use that money to give to African manufacturers and science companies so they can upgrade. Ths will create more jobs with more engineers, scientists, assemblers, mrketers, sales, business, etc. They can inject money to the tourism sector so they can buy more planes that go to China because they have more money to spend now. It honestly isn't that hard. Companies like Innoson can bring thousands of jobs. Also the sports industry and agriculture are not yet exploloited yet.
Maybe they can use that money to support 1 million farmers so they can get more money. Did you know that if America didn't subsidize their farmers then 57$ of them would be losing money. We should subsidize ours. We should build farm schools with the best farmers in the world to teach Nigerians to farm. I wish I could be president for 1 term. Rightly said when I was posting Innoson cars, building of refineries etc on NL they thought i was mad as usual These are the industries that can provide concrete Jobs for the youths of Nigeria.
