Politics › Re: Ijaws Attack Binis Over Ownership Of Gelegele Land In Edo State by aljharem3: 4:49pm On Sep 23, 2011 |
killayut: Lagos has never been a Yoruba land, even in the ancient OYO empire Lagos was not included. Lagos how ever maybe land to some ODUDUWA children being that the EGUNS and AWORIS are of ODUDUWA descent . But the APOIS also have land in lagos and even the Igbiras who were brought by the BINIS also land in LAGOS. the majority of the people in ISALE EKO came from OFA in far away Kwara state while the coastal dwellers were Ijaw fisher men from the Arogbo territory. ANCIENT IJAWS HAD LIVED AT IJORA, OLODI AND KIRI KIRI before colonial era, it was due to the native Ijaws in the OLODI area that made the apapa warf become known as apapa warf. APAPA WARF was mainly created to ship ground nut and related product out of Nigeri. The activities of ground nut workers and ground nut sack dunes at the warf made the warf known as APAPA WARF, APAPA is GROUND NUT IN IJAW, tILL TOMORROW THE LAND OWNERS IN TARKWA are IJAWS AND IJAWS SELL LAND OVER THERE, I heard a traditional ruler has been installed in AJEGUNLE by the OBA of lagos for the Ijaw natives there. All the millions of Yorubas in Lagos migrated from Ijebu and Egba land and now stay put claiming the land of the Egun, AWORI, APOI AND AROGBOS. but as it would be the IJAWS are the ones to lose since tribalism will never favor them. God bless us. thanks for the reply Now there are states in SW nigeria that were never under the OYO empire but are now Yorubaland places like ekiti, lagos, ondo, western delta. I am an Awori myself and I can tell u that there are NO APOI CLANS IN LAGOS OR ANY OF HER ISLANDS Apapa is just a name and does not mean Ijaws gave it that name badary, oyingbo, alhausa, makoko, akoka, etc are all names does that mean they are not part of egun and awori land ? Now you were talking of apoi ijaws in lagos (which there are none) what does apapa mean in Ijaw language ? Apapa is a kalabari word for ground nut and kalabaris are found in rivers state which is too far off lagos apapa mean nothing in apoi ijaw or conventional ijaw language . Now ajegunle, is not also an ijaw town what does ajegunle mean in Ijaw ? the oba of lagos was stu.pid to have done that ( No tribalism) so killayut. what does Ijora mean in ijaw ? ijora means a stale day in yoruba ( Ijo ra) Not being part of the oyo empire does not mean we are not yorubas. I hope you understand the ilaje of ondo , awori of lagos, egun of lagos, ekiti paropo, the itsekiris, etc all this groups We were never EVER part of the Oyo empire and if u read ur history well, you would not find in the oyo empire quoting Awori, ilaje, mahin, egun people, itsekiri people in thereso you can check ur history. but ask why I an Awori man would never ever be considered an Ijaw ? Because Ijaw ethnic group is a fraudwhy can't the, ekiti ilaje, mahin, itsekiri, urhobo etc can never call themselves Ijaw because they are Not. Apoi Ijaw is another case because in every group, there are some confuse bunch and unfortunately the apoi Ijaw fell for the bait. Sahara reporter owner is apoi ijaw. does not act like Ijaw to me you as a kalabari man, can u understand an gelegele Ijaw migrate speak ? mind you, not all costal groups are ijaws. even in balysea, there are igbo groups there. believe it or not and yet they are not represented in the state. Now you people want representation in other parts of the country. How is this possible Even as far as lagos and kano state. Igbos are represented but baylsea state which some igbo groups are indigenous to, they are not represented in the cabinet. why is that. thanks for ur time Before i go I would like to share the history of how ijaws gave land to itsekiri, urhobo, ekiti and bini people. thanks |

killayut: Bro you need to go round Nigeria to know more about your country. In Rivers state alone there are over 10 Edo settlements and the people are distinct from the Ijaws. Some of them have become Ijaws by reasons and never by any Ijaw presure. Settlements like Degema which is about the Capital of the Kalabari people is home town to the USOKUN AND ATALA edos who are today refered to as KALA and Opu Degema people, Obonoma and Bukuma settlements are also Edoid, Abuloma in Okrika is also an Edoid group. These are Edo settlements in Rivers state that even Ijaw people of KALABARI AND OKRIKA would fight to protect, So let the GELE GELE IJAWS be my friend, Killayut toro-ebe state. I heard it will start from the ijaws in Ajegule Lagos to ilaje land and cover urhobo land and itsekiri is it true that there are indigenous Ijaws in lagos. and if so how did they give land to awori and egun people of lagos ? then I heard of ilaje people too were given land by the ijaws ? How true is that also how come ilaje people are in delta state and what part of ilaje land do arogbo ijaw and apoi ijaw have thanks |

Different place altogether. blank: I have confirmed that the Uwani story is very fake and a BIG FAT LIE from someone who lives there and has no reason to lie to me. About Nsukka, i would need to ask around. Uwani and Nsukka are very different areas and towns if i may add. Hey don't get it wrong . if there is not flooding in enugu, then so be it. There is not desperation there. flooding is a terrible thing and should not be encouraged in any form. maybe u can all write to 234Next to get the sources of there story. Rampaging flood in the S/East Enugu, in Igbo language, literally means hill top. It therefore follows that the city of Enugu and, indeed, most communities in Enugu State are situated on hills top. Starting from Awgu down to Udi hills and Nsukka in the northern part, lay communities located on top of hills and sometimes in valleys.
Therefore, because of the topography of the state, rain water run down the hills into the valleys that collect in different streams that form tributaries to different Rivers in the South-east into the Atlantic Ocean. Some people living at the valleys, however, sometimes form obstructions from the rain waters getting into their houses and so, when the water collects in volume, it pushes down the embankments to flood their homes. That was what happened to the Ngwo residents living at the valley of Milking hill close to New Market area of Enugu North Local Government Area, last year.
The South-east zonal office of NEMA in Enugu, confirmed that people were displaced in the Ngwo flood case last year, but that NEMA quickly intervened and educated them on ways of avoiding future occurence. Areas at risk of massive flooding include, the Ogurugu in Uzo-Uwani local Government Area and some communities in Nkanu area of Enugu State. NEMA confirmed that Ebonyi State recorded serious cases of flood, especially in Ivo and Afikpo Local Government Areas of the state in recent past.
The floods were attributed to the topography of the places that are situated on table lands. And measures were said to arrest the situation to prevent its reoccurence. Alson in Anambra State, NEMA said flood is more pronounced in Aniocha, Ogbaru and other riverside communities in areas like Anambra East and West Local government Areas of the state. The agency also said it had in the past recorded serious cases of flooding in Imo State, especially in communities around Owerri, the capital city.
It attributed the Owerri flooding to a big canal that runs through the metropolis and adjourning communities but the state government is said to be currently working on the canal. NEMA claimed that it usually alert the communities before floods occur to warn them of the impending danger. “We can forecast about these disasters because we work with Nigeria Metrological Agency to know how the rainfall pattern will be in the year.
If it will result to large scale flooding, we usually write state governments to take precautionary measures and we carry out sensitisation programmes in collaboration with the ministries of environment in various states and other stake holders,” the Agency disclosed in Enugu.

As for the Deltan story, that is why we have to refute all these lies so people do not rely on it as truths. All you need to do is find out from people who live in Enugu if any such thing happened. I asked from a family member who lives near there, no less, and was told it was a lie. In fact, he went there after we spoke to physically verify. what !!! ok surely this is not 234Next or is it ? One Cyclist Drowns In Enugu Flood
Sep. 10, 2011 – Flooding from a heavy downpour has killed an unidentified commercial motorcyclist in Onuiyi Community in the Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The rain lasted for more than five hours.
An eyewitness, who did not want his name published, said that the victim fell into a gully with his motorcycle, near the Tobechukwu Filling Station in the town.
“I raised alarm but before people came he has disappeared,” he said, pointing out that the gully crisscrossed Nsukka, Enugu, Ezike Road in Aloa-Unor. “I don’t know the man’s name, but I know he is a commercial motorcyclist.”
The Divisional Police Officer in Nsukka, Jacob Muri, confirmed the incident, adding that the corpse had been recovered and deposited at the Bishop Shanahan Hospital, Nsukka, and that the police was investigating the death.
“I am aware, I have sent my men to the scene of the incident, I will get full details when they come back,” he said. “It is unfortunate that some people cannot park their motorcycles in such heavy rain.”

AT least 20 communities in Ndokwa East of Delta State have been ravaged by flood, even as over 50 houses were allegedly washed into the River Niger.
This is just as some houses were submerged in Enugu after a downpour on Tuesday.
The only primary school in the town and other houses are said to be caving into the river, following the ravenous flood.
Other communities affected are Abala, Oshimili, Utchi, Okpai, Abalagada, Aboh, Umuolu, Adai, Inyi, Onuaboh Utuoka and other adjourning communities west of the River Niger.
The flood, which had risen to an unbearable level, also destroyed farmland while several persons were rendered homeless.
Speaking on the development, the Inawai of Onyah (the traditional ruler) Akpati II expressed worry that the government of the day had forgotten those living close to the River Niger.
He called on interventionist agencies like the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Delta State Oil Mineral Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC) to come to their rescue.
“Naturally, Niger Delta begins at Onyah,

Politics › Re: Is Nigeria Getting Better Or Worse? by aljharem3: 2:19am On Sep 23, 2011 |
depends on how you look at it but actually some sections are getting better while other are getting worse
as u said, u went to lagos and it is getting better, well same goes to states like Ogun. where things are getting better
also enugu and rivers state too are coming up in terms of development ie better
other parts are getting worse.
I remember abuja back in the days. people were few and the city was the best but now, constant migration of people is putting pressure on the state.
states like plateau, delta, abia, are getting worse. with the state of infrasturture.
others states are just the same with little or no development but definatly no improvement
My advice is for u to stay in lagos or go to abuja or port harcourt. this is where the life is. FACT! |

koruji: I don't know what is so hard to understand for some people.
The story is true, the photo was used as a prop and not necessarily from the region. Although papers should be careful about doing this kind of things, it is not really that hard to find out from alternative sources if there were floods in Uyo and/or Enugu instead of using the photo to dismiss the story. the dude is a mo.ron Some houses on Eze and Boardman Streets in the Uwani a area of Enugu were on Tuesday submerged following a downpour in the capital city.
A correspondent of News Agency of Nigeria who visited the scene, reports that residents were seen bailing water out from their houses and premises.
Also affected was the popular Chinyere Abacha Joint, an eatery.
Some of the affected residents who spoke with NAN, said the flooding was caused by the road construction in the area.
He blamed the contractor, Enerco Contractors, for not providing a drainage channel.
Mr. Chukwudi Okeke, a resident of the area, said the area had not witnessed such a problem in the 30 years that he had lived there.
