but we all know kanuris are from sudan and yemen.

i havent read about this ijaw/lagos/tom briggs issue yet [dont know who he is], but isnt every tribe trying to claim lagos anyway.
True. Then if so, other tribes can claim port harcourt, and other ijaws settlements as well since we all are mixing. You can not in one hand claiming unity and people give you land and the other hand fighting against those that are living in your own lands. Life does not work like that.

Do you know how many itsekiris and urhobos this people have killed all in the name of land and "conquered territories"

It is not meant to be so. There are hausas in Yobe state, this is normally Kanuri land but hausas have not been killed there all in the name of kanuri land. so why are Ijaws doing so to others.

That is wrong and I just wanted this Tom briggs to get off the high horse and see sense in Unity instead of war and Egbesu spirit.

i have my reasons for asking the question.
Not really, if Awori means Awomiri in  ijaw (water loving people)

and Ijaws have kanuru which mean hot drink then they can argue that Kanuri is a corrupt form of kanuru but just adding A and U

it become Akanuru ( hot water/drink people)

it is very easy to claim and lie about history.

just find words that suit your agenda and force it down on people but using propangada

Edo call lagos Eko

Yoruba call it Oko/eko

Ijaws call it Ukomure or so

as u can see, the ijaws are trying to lie about their own version of lagos. What the hell is Ukomure huh Just say they can call it a corrupt version as well.

are there kanuris of ijaw origin- just curious.
Yes. we are lake like people just like the Ijaws. We live near water body ie lake Chad thus it is likely that we are linked with the Ijaws one way or the other undecided .

kan -nuru meaning Hot drink in ijaw  or sometimes spelt as kanuru which also means Hot drink in kalabari

so given that lake chad is hot and in the north + the water area

likely kanuris originated from ijaws which were called kanuru a corrupt form of kanuri (Hot drink)

Benin empire invaded the AWORIS and conquered them and established an Oba in Lagos, Your dumbness would not make you understand that the Benin empire as at then was not Edo tribe alone but collective tribes under the empire. I hope you know what an Empire is . Nigerian troops fought under the British empire against the Germans, You already know that Lagos was invaded via the coast and possible by Boat, So if Edo people do not paddle canoes who else under the Benin empire may have possibly carried out that attack on Lagos ? The Ijaws of course . Now who do you see in Lagos as natives between Edos and Ijaws ? Ijaws of course. Does this make sense to you that the Benin empire invaders of Lagos maybe Ijaw army under Edo command ? The same Ijaws that inhabit the South of Edo state from GELEGELE through Ofunama to the coast. Does it not also make sense to you that since the Ijaws are common and perhaps the majority at the southern end of Edo and ondo means that area is their natural land ? That the Itshekiris and Ilajes actually migrated to the Ijaw home land and were never harassed ? Is it not always the migrants in Ijaw land that have always claimed ownership of the land and tried to render the IJAWS homeless ? Ijaws have rather always been at the defensive or fought back to retain their right and lordship, So use your head, It was Ijaw warriors under the Benin empire that invaded Lagos and conquered the AWORIS.

You have been misinformed . Ijaws do not claim land, It is land were Ijaws have been living from time that are being claimed by others, and Ijaws are only resisting, GELEGELE has been an Ijaw settlement not that Ijaws are claiming it, It is the Binis that are claiming it saying the IJAWS were brought by the OBA or enslaved people or servants, So pls dont let your hatred miss lead you, Ijaws never claimed any land, Ijaws never claimed land in Lagos, Ondo, Edo but others claim the land were Ijaws have been living, the question you people should ask is, WHY DID YOUR FOREFATHERS not CLAIM the land the IJAWS STAY and why are modern day people trying to claim the land where Ijaws stay ? It is cos of OIL AND GAS WEALTH, people never claimed the land before this time when Ijaws living there suffered the hardship, made use of the other natural wealth and suffered the snake bites and all that, But now that oil and gas have been found MODERN day Binis and Itshekiris and Ilajes BACKED by their Tribal politicians who are waiting to gain more, Is this not pathetic ? How many times did AWORIS have a fight with Ijaws in history that you know, If not why are you so happy and proud that your AWORIS fought Ijaws and killed them in Lagos over nothing but HATE, why didnt you AWORIS fight Igbos in FESTAC AND OKOMAIKO AND AGBOJI AND AMUWO ODOFIN AND EVEN SURULERE ? ASK YOUR SELF THAT QUESTION and understand why you went to kill innocent poor people and now beating your chest about it, The same innocent people of GELE GELE they are planning to kill to your delight, INSTEAD of coming to stand against injustice you are HAPPY that Ijaws every where are being killed and you expect the IJAWS to remain still while you laugh and make jest of them, It is not going to HAPPEN AGAIN,
Hmmm words, you are right. I am not chest beating. All i am saying is that we all should live in peace and there is no point for all this land grabing.

All this "this is ijaw land" that is Ijaw land etc does not make sense. Now even Aworis don't really have say in Lagos and you do not see Aworis go out to the street and kill people all because of land.

If we have ijaw blood in us, then good. I bet we and other Ijaws can live in peace side by side

there are many long established groups on the Island including the Awori,Nupe(Tapa) , Ijebus,Returnee Brazillians, and many others.
anyone reading your misinformation will believe that Omo Eko i.e Kosokos,Adeniji-Adele,Dosunmu etc are awori they are not.
the Awori are distinct and have a distinct dialect.
there are so many established compounds on the Island agbole ode(ijebu) Agbole Ganzalo(brazilian returnee) Igunnuko(NUpe) etc that are recognized lagosians but the Aworis are not the owners of lagos island. of course there are many Awori settements in Lagos State e.g. Majidun but Lagos Island,Victoria Island Ibeju Lekki Aja Badore are not Awori settlements.

you are writing SO MUCH about a subject that you know SO LITTLE this is a profound folly

the link tells u of just 4 groups in lagos which are the egun, awori, ijebu, egba

then later in the 15th century

the Ajah, Hausa, Nupe all migrated and came to lagos for which they were married to Awori people and are now incoprated into the Awori ethnic group.

As i said early, Aworis are the most mixed people in Nigeria, from hausa, to brazil to nupe etc

Please get ur facts right

BetaThings:
My brother I think we need some naseehah
A man can violation his wife. No doubt, it is wrong for a wife to deny her husband, but it is wrong for him to force her
Whatever we think in our minds about women, we can never be sure that a particular woman saying no does not mean it
Let me ask this question, suppose a girl was forced to Be Intimate and before the act she screamed and pushed
But let us say the man had his way and somehow the woman enjoyed it
Is it still violation. Would she be happy that her body betrayed her? Would she be happy that she succumbed to a violent man?
We can never use screaming as a basis for judging.
Did the lady in ABSU case consent to her video being taken?
How do we situate "kill me" with no screaming
BTW I don't expect you to justify anything that is haram,
even if as human beings our faith is weak and we
indulge in Zina, should we not be praying to stop?
Should we be giving the impression that it is justified?
Remember that if we revive something that is halal, we get rewards when people do it
When we sanction and support that which is haram which now encourage people to do it, we would share in the punishment
Patronising a commercial se-x worker (CSW) is haram
Under Nigerian laws, I cannot see how forcing a CSW will serve as compensation for her non-performance
Since prostitutio.n (like drug dealing) is illegal, you cannot harm a supplier who refuses to perform
You are not supposed to be paying for an illegal good, so losing money in the process will not be redressed by law
A lot happen in our universities. But that is the reason we are trained at home before going there
We cannot abandon home and religious training at the university gate and embrace the practices of people without morals and conscience
Are we saying that the people they learnt their wicked practices from, are superior to ours parents who gave us moral and religious training?
Salaam
Ok i understand. You made a lot of sense

Thanks

The arogbo ijaw knew they were ijaw because they worship Egbesu

The apoi Ijaw were lied to by some misinfomed Ijaws that they were ijaws because ijaws claim that they originated from that land. thus apoi ijaw(birth place of the ijaws).

Awori festival is Eyo which is an Awori dialect but Other yorubas call it Ayo (Joy)

which is was mixed with the brazilian yoruba festival as well

Eyo also refers to the masquerades that come out during the festival. It is widely believed that Eyo is the forerunner of the modern day carnival in Brazil

Thus if Aworis are ijaws, then yoruba brazilian were also Ijaws

Prince Ajose is from Igaa Suenu, to which the ancestral home of the current Lagos State governor, Raji Fashola could be traced. Eyo Festival is unique to Lagos area, and it is widely believed that Eyo is the forerunner of the modern day carnival in Brazil. On Eyo Day, the main highway in the heart of the city (from the end of Carter Bridge to Tinubu Square) is closed to traffic, allowing for procession from Idumota to Iga Idunganran.

Eyo festival could be traced to brazil

Egun people were part of it to dahomey but not Awori, ilaje, Ondo, Kogi, Ikale, Mahin, Akoko etc where not part of it but today are yorubas

Yorubaland is not = Oyo empire

Yorubaland spreads to delta west  which covers ilaje, itsekiri land and Edo state even to Kogi west and south of Niger state.

I know my history very well and that is why I came here to remove the misconception some Ijaw people have of Awori people. If we knew we were Ijaws, we would not fight against Ijaws at Ajegunle .

It is easy for anyone to wake up and say they are one group but History and current day evidence would shows the truth.

Dude, I have told you that ijaws are not the only group that used canoes or are riverine or coastal.

Bini people had an advance empire then and traded with the Aworis, ilaje, ijaws, ijebu and the whites. They were also advance to have built the canoe then because of the crossing to asaba and establishing onitsha which was derived from the word orisha in yoruba.

How did Aworis cross to the 3 islands that make up lagos ? you tell me. Aworis built canoes, fished, and traded with the whites.

It was not the ijaws that invaded Awori people because

1. there are no Ijaw words in Awori dialect

2. Awori names are not pro-ijaw but pro yoruba or pro bini even way back then before the invasion

3. Aworis mixed with the Egun people who also built canoes etc and also are from the dahomey Kingdom that was conquered by the Egbas in the Old Oyo empire.

4. Egun words too are often mixed with Awori words but why is Egun  not ijaw but Awori is. Was it only Aworis Ijaws met in lagos ?

killayut:
Now who do you see in Lagos as natives between Edos and Ijaws ?  Ijaws  of  course. Does  this make sense  to  you that the Benin empire invaders of Lagos  maybe  Ijaw  army  under Edo command  ?
I did not say Edos but the Bini people specifically. And it was not under Ijaw army but it was the bini people that came themselves to establish a war camp in lagos. Bini people were the ruling class in the Bini empire and as such got the Oba of Eko ie Oba of lagos. Why is don't we use AMANANAOWEI or PERE to name our king ?

why do we use Oba. ( only lagos was the first city after the bini to use the word oba to refer to a king) other yoruba city were Oni etc

Ijaws Never traveled with the binis if not the cutlure would have been mixed or maybe there were ijaws in the amry but spoke the Bini langaugue/yoruba

killayut:
Lagos  maybe  Ijaw  army  under Edo command  ?  The same Ijaws  that inhabit the South of Edo state  from GELEGELE through Ofunama to the coast. Does it not also make sense to you that since the Ijaws are common and perhaps  the majority at the southern end of  Edo and ondo  means   that area is their natural land   ?
Ijaws never had the capacity to hold Aworis down. Not even the advance Ijebu people not to even talk of ijaws. The bini amry could have even collaborated with the Ijebus and since the Aworis were never warlike, they agreed. Names like Ose , Oladeji, Ajao, Ojo are not ijaw names or even apoi or argbo ijaws names but are stickly yoruba, edo, igala, ebari, nupe names

Also Aworis were fisher men and farmers of pepper etc.

Ondo was never an ijaw land but ilaje land which were not part of the oyo empire. Ondo people migrated from ile ife , akoko people are a mixture of bini and yoruba, ikale people are also a yoruba people and the coastal group of Ondo state are the ilaje who some times dress like the Awori people.

Ilaje is made up of several kingdom which include the Mahin, ilaje people. This kingdoms came together to be called Ilaje and are coastal people as well. Maybe they interacted with Ijaw people but so did the itsekiri, urhobo and igbos today.

I have to admit that there are some ilaje people in lagos but again Awori people are the most mixed blooded yorubas. There is Yewa-Awori, Brazilain -awori, ilaje-Awori, Egba- Awori , Egun -Awori etc

So this groups came together to be called Egun-Awori. There in the Obas palace there was nothing like Ijaw. The really lagosian know themselves.

killayut:
That the Itshekiris and  Ilajes  actually  migrated  to the Ijaw  home land and were  never  harassed ?   Is it not  always the  migrants in Ijaw land  that have always  claimed ownership of the land   and tried to render the IJAWS  homeless  ?
Very wrong, Itsekiri and Ilajes NEVER MIGRATED TO THE PRESENT DAY LAND THEY OCCUPY

again not all coastal groups are or were Ijaws. Itsekiris have been trading with the portugese since the 1400's so when did itsekiri migrate to "Ijaw land"

Ilajes were a group just like the Aworis were never part of the OYO empire but today are yoruba. Again it is affiliation.

If a group of people speak my language, know my culture and love my people they way they are, then I am with that culture. That is what the Yorubas did for  mahin, awori and itsekiri people.

It is not all about land and invading people's land like the ijaws are doing now. It would NEVER WORK. You need to be nice to people and accept them for who they are whether itsekiri, ibibio etc

In 1940's or so, We Aworis use to think we were not Yorubas, but now we know better. Just because we were not part of an Empire does not mean you are not part of the group.

Take a look at Ikwerre people of rivers state today. This people have strong identity crisis and would rather be a minority than join a larger group. VERY SAD

Ijaws today are loved by Nigerians but ijaws are fighting with every group to claim land. This is very wrong. If you want to claim land, you do not fight with the indigenes on there land but there are various none violent way of doing it which the Hausa , yorubas and Fulani have mastered

1. You migrate in large numbers to the area

2. You speak their language which fulanis are good at.

3. Your group is very friendly to the indigenes of the area until you have a large number to absorb the group Very slowly

Violence is never the answer.

killayut:
Ijaws  have rather always been at the defensive  or  fought back to retain their right and  lordship,  So  use  your head,   It was  Ijaw warriors  under the Benin empire  that invaded  Lagos and conquered  the AWORIS.
I am using my head my brother. Ijaws were not the only coastal group, nor ijaws were the only group that dressed that way

Itsekiris too wear cloths like that but are not ijaws.

To conclude

I strong suspect that Ijaws came from Yorubas and not the other way around. From  my reseach on Ijaw land, awori, and yoruba igbo. Ijaws came from yorubas

Not strictly true, yes there is poverty in USA but not that much and negligible when compared to other countires.

USA has a population of about 500 million people.

Part of Nigeria problem is the heterogeneous mixture of 250 ethnic groups, each group tries to out shine the other

Some of which 'thing'? Ohhh 'wild things', roftlmao!!!!!!
Mr. Man try and educate yourself before speaking, ask people, surf the internet if you are in doubt.
There's no excuse in this time and age for such ignorance.
Let me give you a brief on where I school.
violation is taken seriously there. In fact, there are posters on the restroom doors that tell you whom to contact if you've been violated. When a woman says no even if she's a LovePeddler and you go ahead to sleep with her you are a rap.ist. The police would hound you down. That is how civilized people do it.
So I don't know the 'thing' you are referring to. God forbid I should know. Don't wish evil on me if that is the lifestyle you lived, or are living, or will live. Thank you.

Now this is plainly crass. Can't help myself any more. You are a disgrace!!!!
LOL grin grin grin not to be evil but what if i pay a loveopeddler and she refuses to give me the service i paid her for and yet refuse to give me back my money, what do i do.

Call the police ?

surely you can help yourself. If you a woman can not help urself, how do u expect a rapist to help himself from a beautiful seductress  undecided

you have to be open minded here my sister

Food › Re: Black Eyed Beans by aljharem3: 1:43am On Sep 27, 2011
I wouldn't say so

the peeled bean still has a lot of protein and I would guess they have the same amount of protein both the peeled and unpeeled .

although  the unpeeled would have more calories than the peeled.

I would also suspect that the outer skin of the bean is not made of protein but cellulose which is a form of carbohydrate but not digested by humans.

Both peeled and unpeeled beans have the same amount of protein.

The only places that aren't yet enjoying improved electricity supply are those with rotten NEPA equipment that cannot carry the load of Fresh Air coming through. As soon as the old equipment is replaced, the unfortunate few will begin to enjoy extended hours of PHCN friendliness too.

By the end of next year, we will be close to 24/7, if not there already. Little by little, Nigeria is getting good; we are seeing changes we never believed possible in the power sector happening before our very eyes.

Up GEJ! Up NEPA! grin
See his head grin grin

Yes Gej is doing well in this sector, Hope he improves more on it.

Tts Ra-pe, no doubt about it but given the fact that Nigeria is populated by people who don't seem to grasp the pain and pyschological torment that a woman goes through whne a man or men take advantage of her, huh

People like you,who are caught up in political correctness who refuse to stand up for womens rights everywhere are letting all women down. huh

Seriously, the video tape clearly incriniates these perpetrators in this crimehuh??

What else is there to determinehuh??Why all of a sudden, nigerian men have once again shown themselves to be hesitant to allow females justicehuh??

Once again it is clearly seen that is the case in nigeria, that crimes against women play second fiddle huhThe men will say two things

1)She was flirting around with the guys
or
2)She was dressed promiscously.

Im dead sick of this hypocrisy that has taken hold in nigerian culture, we are better than this by far, this is not Afghanistan or Pakistan.

If you men won't stand up for your mothers, wives and daughters, who willhuh
huh huh huh
LOOl kabukabu

Surely it would be considered as rape now given the fact that most women are protesting grin

We should ask ourselves why she did not scream in the video ?

well rape is rape sha. and it is a crime
