all4naija:Arabic education is different from Islamic education. Arabic education is the same as someone studying English language or Latin. It has nothing to do with Islamic education. Islamic education on the other hand is taught with different disciples. Islamic finance Islamic banking and investment and other form of maths and science can be taught using the Arabic language. Just like someone in France being taught Business studies in french. It does not necessarily mean that person is an illiterate |
Gerrard59: ![]() who told u that boko haram exist? who told u that western education is sin ? are they not using e-mail, guns etc who are you to say Islamic education is not an educational disciple walihi i no even get u time u bigot |
kabukabu:guy i can see you being mischievous here it is taken in English or Arabic. and moreover as i said earlier. knowing pigin English does not qualify you as an educated person. If I study or read in Arabic or French but still do the same disciples university undergraduates do, then I can still be qualified as educated. I hope you understand. People have Ph.D in studying French, Arabic,Greek,Hausa and yoruba but don't know English and still qualified as educated. so all this "not knowing english= uneducated" is crap |
Sun of god:that is Nigeria for you. No one respects God's house again anyone just does what they like. sad but true the security of Nigeria is at his worst state Now |
Onlytruth:very correct A homogeneous society has a high probability to be a peaceful Nation Even if Igbos colonise Nigeria, then so be it. But i doubt that I see the official Nigeria language to be Hausa and official Nigeria dressing , food and way of life to be yoruba. Also see all Nigerians to have igbo ancestry one way or the other like me |
kabukabu:My brother, illiteracy is high even in the south Just because southerners can speak broken english does not make them educated education is not about english. Infact the North is one of the most educated region in West africa. Saudi arabia don't understand english but are very educated. Illiteracy is everywhere in Nigeria. Bombing is was even started by southerners not northerners. It is a terrible thing we need to hold hands and unite to fight all this Boko haram and Mend we are one Nation and should act as such |
while some are trying to form an homogeneous united Nigeria some ideeiot are still trying to divide it and causing trouble I have come to the conclusion that the most peace loving people in Nigeria are the hausa, yoruba, igbo, kanuri and the bini people. Nigeria was created for Minorities to be absorbed and colonised and not the other way around. Insha Allah, by the time we Nigerians reach 2100 there will only be 3-5 cultures left in Nigeria not 250 ethnic groups. The more Homogeneous Nigeria is the faster we can move forward. |
igbo2011:you have said it all Nigeria has it is has everything to be made a world power. The problem is the leaders that is all. |
MY awori people say Kiti gbe o ![]() Omo yoruba is everyone ede ko na la jo so (we speak the same language and that is what matters) |

Lagos and in ownership by the Portuguese in 1800's The original Lagosians belonged to the Aworis who, with the Ijebu, are the most southerly of the yoruba-speaking people, occuping an area west and east of lagos extending about 40 miles inland. Their town and islands are known to them as EKO though the name is lagos which is lagoon in Portuguese. It was the least important yoruba state. and not part of the Oyo empire (my words) The traditions of the early lagos tell plausibly enought of the movement of a small group of awori from the village of Isheri ----------------------------------- the writer in the 1800's did not mention apoi argbo etc ijaw or what so ever in lagos thus u can not claim massive absorption by the yorubas. this is to tell u that Oyo empire did not extent to lagos and Aworis were not apart of the empire but we consider ourselves today as yorubas not because of the massive language similarity but the importance Lagos is to other yorubas and how they have put it in the capable hands of God using the Awori people. Other yorubas gave us a sense of unity and love. So do not think after 211 years later , One kalabari man would not wake up to say we aworis are not yorubas but ijaws and u think we would accept. By the way I do not have a typical yoruba surname and part of the royal family of the Oba of lagos back in the late 1800's which my great grand father was the Oba. Where were the ijaws when other yorubas were funding lagos ? Where were the ijaws when Ekiti people and the benin-itskiris were giving us farm food, rubber and cocoa Where were the ijaws when the benin invaded lagos ? I think u all should forget lagos, It is a lost dream and as u can see now. We Aworis would rather have a yoruba man from Ogun or ekiti or even Osun to rule us than a kalabari man that does not even understand me language or way of life. It is nothing personal You had your oppotunity 300 years ago but blew it big time. May be if 50% of the oil revenue is given to Awori people, then we might consider but of course u know how the west operate. Once u say only Awori people, then every single yoruba even to togo would becomes an Awori man ![]() Look at the image below U see the hat and the dressing is not a typical yoruba man dressing but an Awori's man dressing certain not typical yoruba also look at the hat carefully. Yorubas don't wear cowboy hat it is Niger-delta thing but heck we are yoruba now , so go hug transformer ![]() Fashola ana Awori man typical awori men dressing |
Some Urhobo groups (i.e. mixed Edo, Ibo and Ijo) and the Ojos in the Badagiri creek region of Lagos (i.e. Ijo who have adopted Yoruba language fairly recently around the early 20th century. In the Awori-Lagos traditions, the original Proto-Ijo founders of settlements in Lagos are referred to as the “AROMIRE’S” i.e. “LOVERS OF WATER”). Opobo was founded by Jaja who was of the house of Opubo (Opubo Wari) at Bonny (Ibani). Oruma's other name was Tugbene, the ancestor Tu hailing from Oboloma. The Epie-Attisa resulted from migrants from both Izon and Edo speaking people. The Ijo element coming from Ekpetiama or Seimbiri mother settlements. http://www.ijawland.com/history-and-culture/166-others-ijos-zarama-epie-atissa-engenni-saka-abua.html and i am telling you we are not ijaws and yet u are saying we are a minority in lagos ![]() killayut according to ijawland, they did not say we are a minority. so where are u getting ur information from ? i am starting to think u are drunkif u think the ijaws are the only coastal people in Nigeria, then u need to check ur head and ask ur leaders ur history well |
Which parts of Imo and Abia states are Ijaw land, Tom? I'm sure there are some. Where does Ijaw land begin and end? Lets not go by LGA because LGA doesnt translate to "complete tribal land". Igbos fill Ajengule more than Ijaw but Ajengule is Yoruba land, there is no single doubt about that. So out of the consideration of the both, how the heck is it Ijaw land. When have the Igbo ever lame the kalabari to be Igbo? Why is tori-ebe state including urhoboland, all of itsekiri land, and PH(Ikwerre-igboland)? Since when did the ijaw get land in akwa-ibom? How did they skip over ogoni and Ibibio?
ask am o i really want to know because i am very confused they claim aworis are ijaws, yet i disclaim that and now aworis suddenly became minorities ![]() i really want to know ijaw land and why they stopped in lagos and not continue to cotonuo |
killayut:to be honest . i thought u people said aworis are ijaws ![]() killayut i don't understand u o |
Are you fccking kidding me with this crap??!!! You know what, I take that back. . .having read the rest of your post, I understand your frame of mind. So if you've ever gone ahead with the deed despite the pushing away, consider yourself a R A P I S T with a capital R!!!
Sisi mi no vex for me na. I am not part of the rapist o ![]() On a serious note, different women with different why of getting sexual desire. Some like the pushing a bit so they would look special in the eyes of the man while others like you might be indifferent. Women say rubbish on the bed when they meant the right man doing them right . Some say Harem leave me alone it is ok, i do not want Only to be pulling you closer there body. So sisi mi, Although I agree with you that it should not repeat itself again given that it is considered as rape and it is women's right thing. |

Even awori type of dressing is similar to isheri (itsekiri) and has nothing to do with ijaw or whatever http://books.google.com/books?id=VuZwqbFl5lsC&pg=PA2&dq=awori+lagos+local+governments&hl=en&ei=BYaATpekL4TG8QP5q6niCQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CDQQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q&f=false |

To me, I don't think it was a case of violation. This is a university we are talking about, people do wild things which includes intimacy. Yes it was a case of 5 men and a girl but according to the report gotten from the video, she did not struggle but only tried to push one of the guys a couple of times which we know women do even with their lover. Perfectly normal. Although there was also a point she said so reluctantly "kill me" there was not scream or what ever and she said just once within the space of 3 seconds and did not repeat it again. Which rape victim does that ? Maybe it can be called sexual harassment because it was recorded and according to our moral standard of Nigeria, that was bad but I am not sure if it could be classified as rape. |
killayut:so kalabari man, pls explain to us because we are all confused where does ijaw land starts and where does it end ? ![]() |
omoyole said he comes from a yoruba speaking village, not a yoruba village. however, we dont know if his mum is yoruba. all this niger delta stuff used to be strictly for the extreme south south- i think it's only recently that the term was extended to cover all the oil producing areas. including yorubas in niger delta seems counter productive and misleading, imo.
IN fact i just found out that there are ilaje indigenes in delts state that contribute 10% of the oil in the state |
killayut: Lagos Niger-delta ![]() na wa ooo tom |
killayut:Now you are making ur point, no point for insults so there are ijaws in ondo state right? apoi and arogbo ijaw, that is it right ? then good but don't bring ur ijaw expansionism to lagos Ok !!! i heard u call lagos Ukorume or something like that.LOL just stop that rubbish in ondo state and explain to ur superiors that tori-ebe state is something that would be very hard to get. thanks for ur time |

killuyut Ethnic Composition, Languages, Culture and the ArtsThe people of the state are Yoruba (except for the Ijaw or Ijo settlement in the littoral part of the state), although other Nigerians and foreign nationals co-exist peacefully in the state. The most known ethnic sub-groups are the Akure, the Akoko, the Ondo, the Ijo (made up of a part of Apoi [note that some Apoi claim Yoruba ancestry] and Arogbo), the Ikale, the Ilaje and the Owo. Generally, the people have similar customs, traditions and language although there are some variations, most observable with the Ijo. In the field of arts and culture, Ondo State is among the richest in the federation in the variety and quality of its traditional sculpture. The people are lovers of arts, music (e.g. Obitun dancers), with sayings and poetry. The ivory carvings, bronze works and wood carvings from Owo are basically Yoruba sculptures; excavated at Egberen Street in the town in 1971, they showed the naturalist out of the classical Ife (Ministry of Information & Culture, 1976). http://ondostatelocalgovornment.com/ondowest.html Oyomele sowore Q. Tell us a little about yourself A. I was born in the Niger Delta area of Nigeria in a small village called “Kiribo” in Ese-Odo local government area of Ondo State. I come from a small Yoruba –speaking tribe known as “Ijaw-Apoi” (Ijaw-Apoi- because the Ijaws claim their territory or nation starts from there!). My father was a local teacher and my mum a full-time, never- retiring housewife. I come from a polygamous family, I have lots of brothers and sisters, 16 of us, - don’t ask me if I remember all their names! Q.What was it like growing up? A. I grew up in Nigeria, in the village in Kiribo Ondo state. There was no electricity, or running water, no television heroes. No postal office. Just three missionary primary schools and policemen who constantly came to extort women on Market Days-every nine days! http://www.nigeriansinamerica.com/articles/855/1/I-Have-No-Interest-In-Working-For-Obasanjo--Omoyele-Sowore/Page1.html Killayut as you can see, they SOME ONLY claim ijaw because you people gave them a sense of importance like "Ijaw ethnic group origin" WTF infact up to today, some apoi people are fighting not to be called ijaw |
LOL sanusi my man. Kudos to you You have made Nigeria proud. Haters can go hug transformer |
