Should we all go back into those days jst to prove our worth. Gone are the days wen wife to be spends 7 days with her would be mother in law jst to prove her worthy of her son or for her to assess. Why putting her on spot? Or judge her character by giving her clothes to wash? Are there no other ways of judging character? We jst like to test people thinking they are JOB mentioned in d bible. Gracias.
No we need not go back to the old days. I cited that to remind us of our culture as Africans. Forget the western civilization thingy.

You must realize that mothers in their protective nature want what's best for their children. When a young man is in love, more often than not, he closes his eyes to certain behaviors of his partner. Some women have even perfected the art of pretending and covering things up just to get married. After the wedding, out comes the true character and simple things as who does what at home becomes an issue.

Just like seasoned HR managers can determine within minutes if a candidate would be an asset to their company or not, most mothers can tell with about 90% accuracy if the lady their son brings home would make a good spouse or not.

FamilyRe: My Mum VS My Girlfriend. by Allwility:
You see, African mothers no Nigerian mothers are excellent judges of characters. They have the innate ability of discerning things, picking out things the ordinary eyes wouldn't see. Like my parents would say, what they can spot out from a sitting position a young man cannot see it even if he climbs a mountain.

The mother giving the girlfriend clothes to wash isn't because the mother is rude or her son too poor to buy a washing machine. She isn't even assessing how well the girl can wash. She is deliberately putting her would be daughter in law on the spot. She's trying to judge the girl's character. Just a flinch from the lady will tell the mom a whole lot about the lady. Even if the lady forces a smile the mom will still take note of the fake smile. That's why most ladies are apprehensive about meeting their would be MILs. Best bet for any lady placed in such situation is to act natural!. Take her as your mom!!!! The lady can even make a joke of the situation by asking the son why he allowed his mom's clothes to pile up this much and saying something like "Im gonna change your name on my phone from Allwility to Lazy Allwility" or stuffs like that. Then wash the clothes and ask if you can join her in the kitchen because by that time the mother would be preparing food for the both of you.

This matter simple sef. My mother assess my friends by the way they eat their food whenever we go visiting her. Very few pass that test.

Talk about assessment centers!!

People seem to have forgotten we are Africans. Back in those days, girls go to the stream to fetch waters for their would be mother in laws and boys work in the farms of their would be father in laws. Of course they don't do it alone, they ask their friends to join them but everyone knows that such acts of love tell about how genuine their intentions are and is a real pointer to their character.

The ratio of boys to girls in FUTO is almost 99:1. So we usually refer to it as an all boy's school. Even our girls think and act like boys.

The government has adopted former President Goodluck Jonathan's Nigeria Industrial Revolution Plan (NIRP) to scale up industrial production. Onu claims that pencils will be the first of 1,000 products that could now be manufactured domestically, with six-cylinder engines next on the list.

Does Nigeria have uranium deposits? Yes.

Is it in the North and Niger Delta area? Yes.

Do we have boko haram & Niger Delta militants in these areas? Yes

What's the purpose of the summit? Read the last paragraph of the write up and make an educated inference.

Sorry. Nigeria don't have uranium deposits anywhere. I made a quick research after reading your comment. closest uranium deposit to Nigeria is in Niger and not Nigeria. you don't have to find an excuse, this is a bogus trip again.
I'm not a Buhari apologist so I don't need to prove anything to you. However, I'd like to help improve the quality of your research. You can check up this link:

Nigeria has uranium deposits that's why he's attending the summit. I'm sure the US don't want such deposits falling into the hands of the bad guys now that we are looking for dollars right, left and centre.

It's quite obvious that a certain group of people is profiting from the loophole in the system.

BusinessRe: Kaduna, Dangote, Boi, Others To Acquire PAN – El-rufai by Allwility: 10:01am On Mar 05, 2016
2n2k:
You and other posters here don't get some facts right.

PAN was a joint venture between AP of France and Federal govt/some state governments established in the 70s

Nigeria governments (federal and states) were majority shareholder but the AP was the technical partner and operator of the venture.

Nigeria govt already sold its shares in PAN during privatization exercise to ASD Motors owned by Alhaji Sani Dauda. It was at the same time that govt sold off VW in Lagos and Fiat in Kano.

ASD financed the acquisition of the government shares in PAN by borrowing from Nigerian banks.

The loans turned bad and AMCON acquired the loans from banks and thus become indirect owner of PAN.

Just like any other loans, AMCON must exit the liability by either recovering from the original debtor or sell off the debt to new interested person(s). That is what brought up the issue of Dangote and new investors
Thanks for the brief lesson in history. But you need not stop there. Who does AMCON represent? The FG of course!! That makes those shares our national asset. So my first comment is very much valid. If the shares are to be disposed a competitive bid should be done.
BusinessRe: Kaduna, Dangote, Boi, Others To Acquire PAN – El-rufai by Allwility: 7:26am On Mar 05, 2016
If AMCON sells PAN shares to these states and investors, then everything is wrong with the system. Whatever happened to call for bids?? The PAN's shares to be sold are they FGN's shares?? People on NL will be busy looking at the tribalistic angle of this while a wrecking gang will sell off our national assets with just one proposal.

7000 villagers displaced from their homes.

300 villagers killed.

The Fulani herdsmen armed and not far away from their cattle.

Zero arrests made.

Marxxx, don't lose your diamond because you've got your eyes set on a glittering stone. You wanted a posh lady now, I hope you know most of them can't even boil an egg properly. Humble yourself, and take that lady home to mama.
My last advice to you. Settle whatever difference you have with your family members too. Cos he that has family, has everything.
RomanceRe: Matters by Allwility: 3:40pm On Feb 21, 2016
OP, notwithstanding everything that has been said here this is what will happen.

You will echo Team Nairaland's opinion to the family. Team boyfriend & family will be shocked at your decision to end the relationship. They will brand you as a 'wayward sister' who fell by the way side. They will then cajole and convince you to change your mind. You will succumb to the pressure and marry him. You will end up a shadow of yourself and may consider divorce. Boyfriend turned pastor will be shocked and his congregation will take sides against you.

Abeg free that guy jor. You have your life to live.
