Politics / Famous Quotes By Ojukwu by aloyemeka1: 6:26pm On Nov 27, 2011
“I still believe that the one thing that will bring peace, absolute peace, to this country, the type of peace we want attached to development, is to liberate Ndi Igbo and there is no better act of liberation than accepting that they have equal right in Nigeria.”

“There is absolutely no way you can look at the Nigerian federation, the way it was conceived, and say it is a good federation. One of the federating units is bigger than the other units. The other thing is that everything that has worked in Nigeria, or appears to have worked, seems very much to have been an imposition. The idea that sovereignty belongs to the Nigerian people is all fiction as far as Nigeria is concerned.”

“Let us not make the mistake of thinking that this world is a prison. You are what you are for as long as it is comfortable for you. That is how I see it. I have continued to say that in Nigeria what we require is a nation that we can build together.”

“You will understand where I am coming from better if you understand that I was brought up in the Pan-Africanist tradition. I believe that, not only would it be better for the Blackman anywhere if we in Africa find a way of joining hands, all of us.”

“During the war, there were saboteurs. I understand that historically. Our people didn’t fully understand the enterprise of saying no to Nigeria. A lot thought, in fact, that it would end much quicker.”

“There is no way Igbos would all speak with one voice. But let one be more slightly strident than the others. That is what I look for.”

“It is said that the 1966 coup that failed was strictly an Igbo coup, but then the irony of history is that it was the late General Aguiyi Ironsi, an Igbo who single-handedly dismantled the coup in Lagos, while my humble self, another Igbo-man rendered it immobile in the north.”

“It is only those who have not been involved in a war, that will always push war as the first solution to any problem. War does not solve, it cowers but the problem remains.”

“All over Nigeria there is Biafra but that Biafra today is ‘the Biafra of the Nigerians and not the Biafra of the Igbos’; the Biafra of the mind not Biafra of the fields.”

“The civil war was a stage. Some might say an unnecessary stage and some might say an inevitable stage in our march to nationhood. Whichever way, it was a stage and a mile-post in our agglomerate development. We cannot wish it away. We must for ever take it into consideration whenever the subject is Nigeria.”

“I regret the disabilities of the war. It was a choice: it was either to become a slave of the Hausas in that time, or to do what we did. And up till tomorrow, whenever I’m given the opportunity to choose, I’ll reject slavery.”

“He (Awolowo) was loved, he was feared, but above all, he belonged to the people he professed to lead. At his death, I had the singular honour of proposing for him this epitaph that has endured — ‘He was the best President that Nigeria never had’.”

Buhari, PRONACO want Ojukwu immortalised
on NOVEMBER 27, 2011 · in NEWS

Lagos – Former Head of State, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, on Sunday described the late Chukwuemeka Odimegwu-Ojukwu as a tireless, intelligent, focused and frank negotiator who kept to his words.

Buhari, in a condolence message through his spokesman, Mr Yinka Odumakin in Lagos, said Ojukwu symbolised many things to people.

According to Buhari , Ojukwu and himself were partners in progress, searching assiduously for solutions to the problems confronting Nigeria.

“In the process of our friendship and guests in each other’s homes and in all our transactions and engagements on and off the political scene, I find Dim a most forthright and honourable player.

“No doubt, the understanding and trust that developed between us and between him and other political players contributed in no small measure to the overall success of the process of national integration.’’

He noted that with Ojukwu’s death, the nation had lost a leader of great humanity and a political actor of great colour and character.

“Ndigbo has lost a brave captain who has now passed to the status of a legend.

“His death in many ways can be said to be truly irreparable. ’’

Meanwhile, the Pro National Conference Organisation (PRONACO) says it will immortalise the late Ojukwu.

In a condolence message signed by its spokesman, Mr Wale Okuniyi, PRONACO stated that it would consult with other patriotic leaders in the country on how to immortalise Ojukwu.

Those poor kids. Some parents seems not to realize the impact of the home on the children. Those children would probably grow up to be abusive or be in abusive children because that;s all they have ever know. Most of the criminals and psychopaths in the world comes from dysfunctional home and it is a shame that these children destiny is already being shaped by situations that they have no control in.  Women need to be careful who they marry. Growing up in an abusive home will have an impact on your life whether you acknowledge it or not.

Not necessarily.

Nigerian Samuel Shoyeju, Jailed in UK for Fraudulently Issuing "Stay"

Nigerian born British Citizen, Samuel Shoyeju (pictured above), a United Kingdom immigration officer, has been jailed in UK for seven years for falsely granting Indefinite Leave to Remain (Green Card equivalent) - "Stay" to 44 non-EU residents (all Nigerians) who were not entitled to it or entitled to stay in the United Kingdom.

The court was told that scores of immigrants who were fraudulently issued with (Indefinite Leave to Remain / Permanent Settlement) visas by this rogue (generous / kind?!) UK Border Agency official, Samuel Shoyeju, were Nigerians and remain at large almost four years later.

Only 14 of the false letters that he issued have been recovered, meaning most of the recipients have not been identified.

To show that you are wrong. Find out if Muslims from Iran are allowed to go on Hajj and determine who is allowed to go on Hajj and why? Afterall, you want to prove that you are knowledgeable. I don't blame you.

My question is about the legality of both marriages in the eyes of Allah and both sects according to their belief. The shia does not believe in the legality of the sunni marriage as vice versa. It means that a shia father will never allow her daughter to marry a sunni man because after their sunni marriage, they will be living in sin according to their belief.

Ishmael's blessing/Our curse

The mysterious Angel of the Lord (possibly Christ himself), first appeared to Hagar while she was pregnant with Ishmael,  Hagar knew God by some of the first names he is noted for in the Bible as 'The God who Sees' and 'The God who Hears'
Ishmael was blessed by God, and the first to receive a blessing of lineage and offspring.
Ishmael was the first born son of Abram, and God honored Abram's prayer 'Oh that Ishmael might live before you!'
In IS 42 it is prophesied that the tribes of Kedar and Sheba will worship God with acceptance. It is rare for tribes to be pointed out in this manner,  Kedar is the ancestor of the Muslim prophet Mohammad.
First to worship - It has been discussed in other places that descendants of Ishmael were likely the first to come and give gifts from the East in Matthew 1 prepared forehand by Daniel's teaching hundreds of years previous as the chief of the Wise men of the East.
First to hear - It may be that God has some kind of priority for Ishmael's line for Paul spent his first 3 years in ministry in Arabia (see Gal 1:17), the city of the Nabateans, who were descendants of Ishmael.
It is my contention that given the biblical firsts and all the significant events surrounding Ishmael, shouldn't we as Christians be more attentive to his descendants today? Instead we believe myths like God cursed Ishmael, or that all the trouble in the Middle East today is because of Ishmael,  this is not found in the Bible. The NIV translates Gen 16 wrongly when it says 'he shall live in hostility towards his brothers',  the original language is talking about geography (to the East). Other versions indicate 'over against' (ESV) which is better.

The hatred of Muslims today, especially Arabs has got to stop if we are to get in line with the Bible, and place of Ishmael in God's plan. God loves all nations, especially the descendants of Abraham, Issac AND Ishmael.

Islam for Muslims / Shahaadah by aloyemeka1: 3:53pm On Nov 27, 2011
The shahaadah, the declaration of faith, says, "I bear witness that there is no God worthy of worship except Allah, and Muhammad is the last messenger." The fundamental truths include the belief in the Absolute Uniqueness of Allah the Supreme Being, to whom we are individually accountable on the Day of Judgment and rewarded for the good and punished for our evil; the belief in the Prophets sent throughout history to guide human beings toward establishing truth and justice; the belief that Muhammad was the final Prophet and that he received the Qur'an, which is the only divinely revealed book to be preserved in its original to this day.

My Questions are:

1) If Muslims believe that Muhammad is the last true prophet of Allah, who were the true prophets who came before Muhammad?.

2) How sure are you that Muhammad actually received the quran from God especially when he was more interested in little girls than spirituality?.
Islam for Muslims / Shiite Schism by aloyemeka1: 3:40pm On Nov 27, 2011
Muslims usually claim that the difference between shias and sunnis are trivial and boarders on who will be their political and religious superior after the demise of Muhammad but I just found out after series of consultations with different ulamas that it is not true. In as far as marriage betweeen the two sects is concerned, I know that scholars of both sects, the Sunni as well as the Shia, hold that marriage with members of the other sect to be invalid. In other words, LagosShia's marriage is invalid in the eyes of SweetNecta and vice versa. Since both believe that their marriages are invalid and their belief is in accordance with their Allah, will it not be safe to assume that muslims are confused people worshipping a confused Allah.
---Happy Thanksgiving to you all and may we continue this celebration like the Christian pilgrims did it some centuries ago, AMEN.

Nigerian Father of Six Sells Body for Money on Facebook

He's claiming to be a father of six. Claims to have two university degrees. And when he couldn't find a job, he resorted to this, selling his body for money - to both sexes.

His name is Asiayei Perekeye and if you go though his entire album on facebook, you won't believe some of the things you will find there - a number of naked pics, including full frontal, all in the bid to attract 'clients'.

And then in the same pornography album - you will see pics of his six alleged kids, wow! (How he can put his kids photos in such an x-rated album is beyond me)

Continue to see some of the pics I took from his fb profile, pls do not open around a young person,

--
He claims he's doing this because he has six children to take care of. My question is, if he couldn't look after one child, why did he have six?

Is there an excuse for this? Personally, I don't think there is. We all have choices, this is what he chose, sad! To see more, go on his fb page, (search his name on fb)

And The Naija Wife Reacted,
SATURDAY, 26 NOVEMBER 2011 00:00 BY OGECHI ADEOLA SATURDAY MAGAZINE - SHORT STORY

MAMA Kike silently packed up her basket after a hard day’s work of harvesting crops in the farm with her husband, Baba Kike. She was tired and weary, dragging her feet as she trekked down the dusty path leading to their home, a distance of about 30 minutes. Her feeble feet ached from over-stretching occasioned by the use of the hoe to harvest the fully-grown yams and the shovel to till the soil. Baba Kike also did the same work though he took intermittent breaks to enjoy his tobacco snuff and gulp capfuls of local gin (Ogogoro). They were co-labourers on the farm.

As the dusk set and the yellow clouds receded in the background, both partners, Mr and Mrs Adebisi arrived home. The day’s work was not yet over for Mama Kike, after eight hours of toil and hard labour. Dropping the heavy basket on the floor, she proceeded to prepare dinner for Baba Kike. Baba Kike wanted only ‘fresh’ food; his wife must prepare fresh vegetable soup, eforiro with pounded yam, daily. No ‘poundo yam’ for Baba Kike; the already processed yam was not good enough. It must be freshly pounded and just the way his own mother, who passed on thirty years earlier, prepared it.

Mama Kike was always tired each night as she carried the long pestle, pounding away to the consternation of neighbours who could hear the poundings some meters away. Though the noise drove them crazy, they preferred it to the sound of relentless beatings the poor woman received constantly from her husband. The agonising cries of Mama Kike often stopped neighbours in their tracks and the only time they dared interfere, they also got the beatings of their lives. Baba Kike chased them out of his house with a long whip and the pestle Mama Kike just used in pounding the yam. The aggression on Baba Kike’s face was enough to make the neighbours turn a ‘blind eye’ forever. The neighbours had enough problems of their own to shoulder and would not add another man’s burden to theirs.

Mama Kike too was tired of the beatings; it seemed there was nothing she could do about it. Her own mother, who had patiently endured her own beatings, advised her that it was better to endure than to be a woman out of a husband’s house. She could not even envisage leaving the house. Who would take care of her brood of girls? She must endure and live for them. In her younger days, she dreamt of leaving and actually left her husband once but she was chased back by her father the following day. Her father told her blatantly that he had accepted the bride price and would not return it.

That was 20 years ago, she mused as she got dinner ready. Her children are grown now and she has nowhere to go. This is her home. The younger children are being taken care of by the eldest girl in the house, Adunni. Adunni took over the care of her siblings when her sister, Kike got married to a Lagos businessman. Mama Kike had high hopes for the marriage especially when she met Tunde, a young handsome man in his early thirties. He came with a Peugeot 505, well dressed in sparkling white Kaftan, looking very affluent. Kike was happy to get out of home; she couldn’t stand the daily beatings her father gave her mother. Mama Kike was glad her daughter was getting a good deal and not a drunk for a husband as she got. She was happy to see her daughter married and out of the village.

Her happiness however turned to sadness when she visited Lagos shortly after the wedding and saw her daughter, a figment of her old self. She knew the traits, the faded bruises, the pinched look around the eyes, the long sleeved shirt to hide some bruises and the tell-tale sign of hollowness of the eyes. There was an almost indiscernible pain, only detectable by a woman who had been through it and a false smile plastered on the face, which kept a good front. Mama Kike’s heart skipped several beats as she stared at her beloved daughter. Holding her hands to her heart, her lips quivered but she said nothing. She couldn’t utter a word, she knew the secret code; no woman discloses a beating.

It didn’t take long before Mama Kike heard cries permeating the thin walls of the bedroom. She could feel the whip, the slaps, the kicks and the yells. Her body ached as listened, wishing she could trade places with her daughter. She felt betrayed. How could Tunde turn to be another Baba Kike? He had looked innocuous when he came to pay the bride price. Was she cursed? She asked no one in particular. Was ‘Beating-ology’ passed from generation to generation? She knew she had to break the unwritten code of silence of battered women and talk to her daughter. Kike denied it at first but when her mother persisted she broke down and wept uncontrollably and began to blame herself. She was not submissive, she claimed. She provoked him by her words, she asserted. She should have said ‘sorry’ earlier, she said. He is a good man, she assured.

Fashola Arrests 5 For Driving Against Traffic
Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State personally led a team of officials to arrest five commercial motorcyclists (Okada) and commuter bus drivers found driving against  the traffic in Apapa area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, yesterday.
The motorcyclists who were apprehended for driving against traffic on the Apapa Bridge included one Haruna Umaru who drove a motorcycle with registration number FS 820 LG and Idris Isa who was caught driving against the traffic from Ijora on his way to Apapa.
Others who fell into the dragnet were Sani Buba with motorcycle registration number Z 315 LSD who claimed to be the Vice Chairman of Motorcycle Operators Association of Lagos State, Victoria Island chapter.
Also apprehended on the Apapa bridge for riding against the traffic was Aminu Oshe with  motorcycle registration number QL 15 APP and Mr. Egiamalo Amos, a store assistant in the Ajah plant of P.W. Nigeria Limited who was arrested for driving his vehicle with registration number QS 130 EPE against the traffic.
Fashola and his team made the arrests while going to commission a 60-flat housing estate built by the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (LSDPC) at Apapa. The governor pointed out that the difficulties encountered by residents of Apapa were being exacerbated by Okada riders, trailers and tankers.
The governor who hinted that a policy was in the offing to address and deal decisively with the problem added: “what we see and experience clearly is a failure of agencies of the Federal Government to do their work and they manage the port at the expense of the lives of the residents.
“Just recently, it was announced that N188 billion was generated from this port; but the question is, how much of it was spent in Lagos? How much of it was spent or committed to building rail that will evacuate cargo from the port?”
He however advised residents: “As I have said to all those who care to listen, if Okada is a problem to you, stop using it; because it is a business and if you don’t patronise it, it will leave you alone.”

Driver Jailed 14 Years For Impregnating Daughter

•Philip Michael

The Family Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria has sentenced a driver, Philip Michael to 14 years imprisonment for having unlawful carnal knowledge of his daughter which resulted in pregnancy.
The victim, Happiness Michael, 12 later gave birth to a baby boy on 22 November, 2010.
The Family Social Services Unit of the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development got wind of the abuse and arrested the randy driver.
Delivering judgment in the case yesterday, Chief Magistrate Femi Segun found the accused guilty of having unlawful carnal knowledge of her daughter and sentenced him to 14 years imprisonment with hard labour.
She said the sentence is justified in view of the nature of the offence and the impunity with which the offence was committed.
Justice Segun advised the convict to amend his ways after serving his jail term, adding that the one and a half years the convict had spent in custody will be deducted from the jail term.
Last year, the Family Social Services, Office of Youth and Social Development investigated the allegation that a 12-year old girl was abused by his father which resulted in pregnancy. The matter was reported to the government by the victim’s teacher.
During interrogation, Miss Happiness revealed that she was forcefully taken away from her biological mother by her father when her stepmother died.
She said her father had sex with her several times and was detected to be pregnant by a teacher in her school.

Where are those people who like to argue that a man cannot raape his wife.

The President of the Court, Mr. Adewale Eko, ordered the husband to start paying N5,000 to his estranged wife as the weekly allowance to cater for the children.

What will N5K do as child support?. 4 children and he is a driver which means he is making big money. The least the judge can do is ask him to pay N30K weekly for his children's upkeep and N10k weekly for alimony.

My husband Usually Raped Me In The Presence Of Our Children”, wife tells court

A mother of four, Taiwo Arum, on Friday told an Igando Customary Court, Lagos, that her husband usually raped her in the presence of their children.
Taiwo, 41, is seeking the order of the court to dissolve her 11-year-old marriage to Jamiu.
The woman who was in tears while narrating her ordeal in court, also said that Jamiu used to beat her “mercilessly” before raping her.
“My husband, Jamiu usually beat me before raping me in the presence of our children.
“After the attack, our children normally advised me to cooperate with him, so that he will not kill me.
“On each occasion, nobody could hear my crying because of the noise from some of our tenants’ generators”, she told the court.
Taiwo, a building materials seller, said Jamiu usually gave her and their four children only N400 feeding allowance daily.
The woman, who claimed to be the fourth wife, said that the children lacked fatherly care and affection.
Jamiu, 45, a transporter, denied the allegations, claiming, “I did not hit her, she is blowing the issue out of proportion.’’
The husband stated that he still loved his wife and urged the court not to dissolve the marriage.
The President of the Court, Mr. Adewale Eko, ordered the husband to start paying N5,000 to his estranged wife as the weekly allowance to cater for the children.
Eko advised them to go and meet the elders in both families for amicable resolution and adjourned the case till December 1.

Afro_Blue,  grin why you giving a link to an article on an anti-women website?!

I find what this guy wrote insulting and ignorant.  Using words like “fooled” and “duped” when talking about President Zuma is almost amusing.  He is a good strategist and how someone can think that he can be fooled into signing this bill is beyond me.  I don’t agree with the secrecy bill, but to say the President has been “duped” is ridiculous.  I would be LOL if it weren't such a serious matter.

Zuma is the dumbest president in the whole world. Khai, how can South Africans put their faith on a man who spends 20 hours a day chasing new brides instead of governing?.

Capital NO is my answer.

Sex is an act that must be mastered by both couples
.If the man is not performing up to expectation it is the duty of the woman to teach the man how to do it by giving him advise or buying books for him to read or even take him to a marriage expert for counseling.

Though there are some who can never be satisfied by their husbands no matter how hard they try.Such have infidelity problem.Like they say in  the Yoruba adage
                       "OkO KAN O KUN CUPBORAD"
That is one husband is not enough.

But to the real godly women you can help your husband to learn all the tricks about sex if you are an expert or go for seminar on the issue.

Many home would have been saved if not for selfish motive.God help our marriages.

What if one partner cannot master it after many years of practicing.
