Op i don't know how old this story is but i think the nurse part is misleading. Years ago UK government Conservative government David Cameron amend the highly skilled visa requirements by making it harder now Boris Johnson has changed it to point base system like that of Australia.

The nurse part is hard to believe. Reason is UK is no longer part of European union, nurses from EU country are have gone back to their countries. With Covid-19 hitting UK and NHS. Last year some foreign nurses (outside EU) with expired visas were given special dispensation to continue working because the country was in crisis.

Yeah people must do anything to survive if you want to stay. Some claim assylum here etc.

One thing here is no room for laziness especially if you have no one. i have seen people that arrived here with nothing but now they have house or houses meaning they are house owner. (Legit) everything is hardwork here yes is not easy but life itself no easy now.

Back to your highly skilled insurance guy, had it been when he got here he enrolled in professional sch part time while doing security, when his visa expired he could have continued with sch and with UK qualifications he should be able to get a better job while his employer will help him to renew his status.

Also had it been he worked long hours to earned more money his visa home office should have renew his pali. Also whenever you want to renew is better you use immigration lawyer cuz they know all the lopeholes.

This situation sounds so familiar to me - I really empathise with you.
Storytime - In 2010 I decided I had enough after continuous treatment for tonsilitis since being a teenager! The tonsil stones I used to produce randomly when speaking or coughing and on-demand if I prodded my tonsils were ridiculous. Very smelly, usually small yellow looking things. Like congealed dental plaque. They actually looked like the inner embryo of a seed of corn. Those terrible tonsils were also linked to loads of colds and chest infections. The rate at which I used to fall ill was very high - even people that didn't know me very well always knew I had colds.

My bad breath was caused by having deep holes (crypts) in my tonsils from numerous throat infections. Those holes would harbour food, the food would stay in the holes in my tonsils and the normal buccal bacteria would feed on them. After a while, the food would be ejected as tonsil stones! And they smell foul - if I broke one open, my siblings would run out of the room from the odor. They were the absolute cause of my bad breath. No matter how many times a day I brushed, flossed, used various strengths of mouthwash, my breath was always kicking and disturbing somebody. I don't know how my friends put up with me. One day my bf stopped kissing me to tell me my breath stunk! I'd just cleaned my mouth thoroughly!!! Chai. The shame.

My Primary Care doctor examined me on some occasions. He could see that the problems weren't self resolving or going away. He explained that since I was an adult I had no use for my tonsils. They were a vestigial organ with the main use to protect from infections in childhood. Since they were causing more problems it was better to remove them. My primary Care doctor referred me to an ENT surgeon at a hospital who operated and removed both of my tonsils. It took about 2 weeks to recover in full following the operation and for the scabs to fall off from the wound site. Its been 8 years and I haven't had a single tonsil stone or serious instance of bad breath since.

This is just my personal insight & experience. I notice you'd mentioned touching your tonsil in one of the posts and the smell was bad. That is a very strong indication that all may not be well with your tonsils! I'd definitely get that checked out if I was @op right now. No amount of mouth washing will take care of this mechanical/functional failure on a permanent basis.

This guy called bad breath have haunted me all the way from primary school down to secondary and even to my university level.

I am still a young 19 years old guy at the peak of youthfulness but this guy is just ruining everything for me.
My self-esteem, public speaking skills, social life, confidence, in fact, everything has been smashed with a sledgehammer right in my face.
I have turned into an introvert because of this bad sickness but will cover it up with "Money on my mind" shït.

I have tried everything possible guys.
Below are kinds of stuff that I have tried and it is not working.

1. Visiting a dentist.
6 months ago, I took all the money I had to go over to the dentist in search of a solution. Had to wait for hours before getting attended to.
When the doctor came in, she first started with some words of encouragement.

Telling me I might not have bad breath and all, people might be thinking they have it but don't blah blah blah.
(So me that have bad breath I don't know what I am saying right?)
After much talk, she recommended flossing and cleaning.
That exercise where water passing through a tiny hole at high speeds is used to remove plaque from in between your teeth.
I had to shell out a whopping 4k for that plus the extra card of 500.
All the money I saved was gone just like that.
It didn't work!!! Bad breath still held me down.

2. Brushing twice a day. I did this for 1 week straight up without any improvement relative to the hard work put in. So I became less consistent with this. Toothpaste I have tried includes, Oral B, MyMy, Maclean, Close up, name it. Didn't work.

3. Garlic and ginger. Some persons here on Nairaland recommend that ginger and garlic can be used to drive off bad breath. The prescription was to swallow it whole before going to bed at night then brush in the morning to remove the after-effects.
I tried this for one week. Didn't work.

4. Mouthwash: I have wasted more than 4k in buying mouthwash but these things are just 2 hours wonder from the moment of application.
I get fresh breath for the time being but after like 3 to 4 hours, the bad breath keeps on coming back. Still didn't work.

5. Hydrogen peroxide: Someone also recommended I use this to chase bad breath.
It also works for sometime after which bad breath comes back. I even tried to dilute less than normal for maximum effects but the only thing I got was an irritating burn on my tongue. I am so not using this guy again!

6. Walnut: Some said walnut could be my Savior so I had to buy them in large quantity to chew but it didn't have long-term effects.
So I ditched it. I don't have money to waste as I am still a student.

7. Chewing a combination of bitter leaf, scent leaf, and guava leaves: Out of intuition, I decided to try this combination. My common sense inferred that since it was bitter, it should probably have some effects on the bacteria in my mouth. But alas! Bad breath wasn't even impressed one bit. I even had to stuff them in my pocket and chew on them while going to class. This was a big flop.
Didn't work at all.

8. Agnes Nwamma Herbal powder: I don't know what to say about this one, because it was even better that I just didn't brush for that day. Very useless in fighting off bad breath.

The funny thing that leaves my jaw-dropping is that my dad doesn't even brush, he uses a chewing stick but still has a very fresh breath than I that used mouthwash, baking powder, toothpaste and still chew the chewing stick to top that.

9. Chewing gum like Clorets, Methos: I have to be frank about these gums, they kind of aggravates the bad breath. They are simply applying salt to injury so I just stopped using them altogether.

Pls Nairalanders, help me out here. There have been lots of people who found a solution to their problem on here, so I doubt mine will be different.
Pls, I need something else to try that will not dig a hole in my pocket as I am still trying to stand on my feet.
I need a permanent solution not 3 hours wonder.

My confidence and esteem have been crushed by bad breath. She said that she was going to stay with him until the real owner come which is his wife and even then he will come to her whenever they need each. She can have his nasty ass. I only talk to him because he still give me money. What I'm so pissed about is this female has threatened to kill me and who ever is at my house. The state I live in it's a crime to threaten some one telephonically. She was calling so much that I started recording the calls. I have her on tape saying she's going to kill me. She bragged about being an American citzen and saying that the man is not. She said that I will be dead over this man. Well I'm a natural citizen and she don't know she could lose everything she worked for, her good job and her citizenship over this man who don't belong to Her or me. My dentist found over 10 cavities in my mouth...Then get a tongue cleaner to scrub your tongue. The odor is actually stored on your tongue and not your teeth. That’s why brushing your teeth won’t really fix things. Then get antibacterial mouthwash. Not all mouthwash is good, since you have bad breath you need to buy an antibacterial mouthwash. It’s a mouthwash with liquid antibiotics in it. I don’t know if they sell it in nigeria

It’s been long I posted anything. That is for a reason. But as the year draws to an end I kinda looked back at the reason some sistas gave for calling off relationships and only wonder why some people take so much effort to lie to themselves.

1. Leave Pastors Alone To Face Their Work.
A lady in her late 30’s have been praying, fasting, networking for a soul-mate and when she finally got one, she went to her pastor to confirm if the man was from God. Her pastor told her the man was not her God-given husband, she should wait. She called off the relationship only for her and the married pastor to be caught making out 3 months later….what prophesy does she need to know who has been killing her dreams?...I LMAO!

2. Yankee Dreams Have Ruined Lives
Somebody ditched her home-based man she’s been going out with for over 2 years in a no-se*x relationship because her Aunty hooked her up with another yankee man looking for a wife. The yankee man came home and ‘wacked’ her front and back ceaselessly till he returned back to his base, and told her they were not compatible….when will sistas wise up on these yankee dream?.....Nawa!

3. When You Do Your Job Like 'Runs'
A marketing lady was busted pant’s down in a hotel room with her fiancee’s best friend. Hmmm! Some jobs like marketing, sales, pubic relations, media require high networking for survival, but be careful creating an image of a ‘runs’ girl while being nice to everyone. 4. Are You Still Keeping Your Options Open?
Now this is the fourth time a lady has called off a relationship saying “She’s keeping her options open”. This code phrase for dating multiple men only get’s you confused and make you to easily quit a relationship rather than make it work in the face of a slight problem because you believe you have other options. Most girls who do that find out the hard way that they quit easily, can’t settle down, get confused on who’s best for them, and often get into a messy scandal.

5. "Packaging Can Be Misleading"
Most sistas are ageing into their 40’s because they want to marry a well-packaged, celebrity-like personality. Beyond the stage appearances and polished, packaged looks people have at work, in the church, at events, etc, they have a different life and personality at home. No man wears suits and shoes to sleep. Every man poos and pees, most people look funny when they remove clothes, and most men throws dirty boxers around ….LoL. I also wonder how those nice clothes translate to being a good husband and a good father at home.

6. Chickens Can't Fly Like Eagles, They Belong To Different Levels
It’s ok for a lady to marry-up but it’s outright greedy and needy if you are without a good job, good career, good investments/account, etc yet you insist on marrying a man who has everything going for him. Any man who has everything going for him will also want a lady who has everything going for her. Eagles don’t breed with chickens, dear. If you raise your expectations, make sure you are raising your own stakes too

7. Huh? You Love Him Yet Can't Move Along With People Around Him?
A lady once said she couldn’t stand her fiancee’s friends and relatives bc they appear to be using him. Well, you cannot hate his friends and family and claim to love him. It's been a while since I created a topic on this platform. I wish to share this with you as a way of starting the new year.

The worst lies are the ones you tell yourself over and over again – the ones you live by. Perhaps someone close to you ingrained these lies in your mind, perhaps you were influenced by the negativity of popular media channels, or perhaps they grew from simple, innocent misunderstandings.
Either way, if you plan to learn something new for the sake of self-improvement this new year, start by unlearning a lie that has been deceiving you. Here are nine lies I have determined to unlearn in my own life:

1. Success looks a certain way.
You are not in this world to live up to everyone else’s expectations, nor should you feel that everyone else is here to live up to yours. You’ve got to pave your own distinct path. What success means to each of us is different. It’s about spending your life happily in your own way.
You have your own personal calling that’s as unique as your fingerprints.
The best way to succeed is to discover this calling within you and then find away to offer it to the world in the form of a beneficial service. Ultimately, if you can wake up every morning and do something that makes a positive difference, makes you proud, and makes you smile, before you get back to bed, you are a true success.

2. Happiness is about getting what you want.
There are two ways people try to find happiness. One is to continue to accumulate more and more of what they think they want. The other is to appreciate what they already have. The latter is the right path. Happiness isn’t about getting what you want; it’s about wanting what you’ve got. Happiness is not a goal, it’s a by-product of living well in each moment.
To be happy doesn’t mean you don’t desire more, it simply means you’re thankful for what you have and patient for what’s yet to come. Sometimes it’s easy to get so caught up in trying to accomplish something big, that you fail to notice the little things that give life its magic. So appreciate today for all it’s worth. Today is one of the good old days you’re going to miss in the years ahead.

3. A busy day is a productive day.
“Work smarter, not harder” is one of the most common clichés in the personal development space. But like most clichés, few people actually do it. Go ahead and take a look around; the busy people outnumber the productive people by a wide margin. Perhaps you’re one of them.
Busyness seems impressive. It puts you in the heat of the action. It gives you an elevated sense of accomplishment. You’re always late for social engagements, barely have enough time for family get-togethers, and hardly get a moment to yourself.
Emails and texts are shooting out of your smartphone like machinegun bullets, commitments and meetings fill up your entire calendar, and sleep is an afterthought. You’re like a rock star without a record.
Of course, it’s all just an illusion. A commitment to anything more than the essential is to work harder, not smarter. So flip it around and work smarter by putting first things first.

4. To be brave is to not be afraid.
Truth be told, the only time you can be brave is when you are afraid. Being brave is when you do something, regardless of your fears, because you know it’s the right thing to do. In other words, you are afraid to do it because there are unknowns, but then you go ahead and do it anyway.
Whatever course you decide upon in life, there is always the possibility that something will go wrong. There will always be difficulties arising that tempt you to fear that you don’t have what it takes. To map out any course of action and follow it to an end requires bravery.

5. To be strong is to not feel pain.
Life is often painful. It requires a worthy struggle for growth and experience. Anyone who says differently is selling a lie.
The strongest people are the ones who feel pain, accept it, learn from it, and fight through it. They turn their wounds into wisdom. It’s all about having the courage to take a break, to shed a tear, to dust yourself off, and then to get back in the ring to fight like you’ve never fought before.

6. Everyone around you is holding you back.
Many of us don’t genuinely want to be responsible for our own fate. Perhaps we daydream about “fulfilling our dreams,” but we leave those dreams firmly in the realm of fantasy. We don’t research them, talk to people about them, read related books, etc. Somehow we prefer the fantasy to the reality. And there’s nothing wrong with that, until we say that someone else is “holding us back”. That turns an idle fantasy into a barricade of lies.
The truth is, if you’re not working on something meaningful today, the only person holding you back is YOU. If you aren’t doing anything about your goals and dreams, you have no one to blame except yourself. Either you take responsibility for your life or someone else will. Blame is a scapegoat – it’s an easy way out of taking accountability for your own outcome. It’s a lot easier to point the finger at someone or something else instead of looking within.
When it comes to working hard to achieve a goal or dream – earning a degree, building a business, or any other personal achievement that takes time and commitment – one thing you have to ask yourself is: “Am I willing to live a few years of my life like many people won’t, so I can spend the rest of my life like many people can’t?”


7. You are automatically entitled to certain things from others.
People are sometimes led to have a sense of entitlement because they falsely believe they are owed something based on the social role they have chosen. For example, if someone has accepted the role of being someone’s friend, boyfriend, girlfriend, husband or wife, they feel entitled to get certain favors from the other person. If someone has accepted the role of being a parent, they feel entitled to being respected by their children. If someone has accepted the role of being a consumer, they feel entitled to be served to their specific wishes. Of course, these expectations of entitlement often go unfulfilled. Why? Because nothing in this world is guaranteed.
Regardless of your chosen role in all your relationships and walks of life, you don’t automatically get any more than you openly communicate, negotiate, and work for.

8. You will feel comfortable when the time is right.
So many of us complain about the boring repetition present in our daily routines, yet we choose no clear course for correction. We want to change something, but we never think the time is right. Why? Because the very source of our boredom also provides a solid foundation of comfort. We are comfortable with our current surroundings. Steering off the known track is risky, and we are subconsciously scared of what might happen if we do.
So, what happens when we stick to the current track? Nothing. We jog along the same circular track at a steady pace daily. We pass by the same mile marker at the exact moment we did yesterday, and the day before, and the week before that. There is not a worry on our minds because we already know the terrain that lies ahead.
If something makes you a bit nervous and uncomfortable, it means you’re doing it right and growing. All great opportunities in life will force you to grow emotionally and intellectually.
They force you to stretch yourself and your comfort zone, which means you won’t feel totally comfortable at first.
And when you don’t feel comfortable, you will likely assume the timing isn’t right, even though it is.

9. It’s already too late.
If you’re reading this right now, congratulations, you are alive, which means it’s not too late for you. Things can change if you want them to. Right now you can choose differently and make something new happen.

Getting rid of these lies from your mind will not happen automatically. It will take some time and practice. I have started erasing these lies from my mind and you too should do the same. The earlier you start the better.

Like I said when I was in secondary school I was very skinny and awkward no boy ever liked me

but when I grew older and started adding weight I became prettier and the boys started chasing me like flies

Now I get hit on almost everyday

but getting into the process of dating these guys that hit on me everyday was very difficult because of my lack of experience
these are one of the reasons why I am still a virgin

being a late bloomer made me quite insecure, shy and too careful towards the opposite sex
