If the boy had claimed to be 16, he would have been put in the next plane back to Nigeria. But as a minor, a vulnerable child in UK seeking asylum, they will protect him and provide for him and he can stay in UK till he dies. That's why the age is so contestous.

Anyway, it’s not too late! People all around the world learn any language at any age. Get in touch with someone passionate about the language or a proper language tutor for 1:1. You just have to be dedicated, consistent and brave enough to make mistakes openly.
