THERE ARE ONLY TWO RELIGIONS IN THE WORLD There are basically only two religions in the world. One says, "IF YOU WILL do such and such, God will graciously bestow His blessing upon you." The thousand and one varieties of this religion differ only on what the "such and such" is that you must be willing to do. One variety says bathe in a sacred river, another bids you kiss the sacred rock located in the holy city, still another says be baptized or some similar rite, and in distinctly evangelical circles this religion emphasizes, "IF YOU WILL OPEN YOUR HEART, THEN GOD . . ." Notice carefully the three key words IF YOU WILL. (1) God's forgiveness is possible IF ..... (2) God's forgiveness is possible if YOU... (3) God's forgiveness is possible if you WILL. . . . The ultimate success or failure of this religion is determined solely by the will of man. Everything depends on an "if," and on "you," and on "your willingness" to do your part. Redemption is always CONDITIONAL since it depends on man's cooperation for success. The great work of salvation is not actually accomplished until God can find someone who is willing to "cooperate with Him." Our forefathers called this "if you will" system the "religion of works." It was also called "Arminianism" and "semi-Pelagianism" since these were the men who originally caused division in the church by introducing this error of free will. Regardless of the name attached to it by friend or foe, the distinguishing marks are always the same — the IF, the YOU, and YOUR WILL are the decisive factors that make the plan of salvation work. This religion offers a wonderful plan of salvation that is able to do mighty things if YOU WILL ONLY LET IT. The God of this free will religion can only desire and offer to save sinners. He is helpless to secure, by His own power, what He longs to do. The goal of redemption cannot be reached unless man, of his own free will, chooses to permit God to accomplish His purposes. The false religion of free will, or works, is based upon several unbiblical doctrines. The most basic of these is THE UNIVERSAL AND INDISCRIMINATE REDEMPTIVE LOVE OF GOD. God is said to love all men in the same way and to the same degree. He loved Judas the same as Peter, Esau like Jacob, and the goats as much as the sheep. Since His love is universal then the greatest gift of His love, Jesus Christ His Son, must have been given to provide a universal atonement, meaning for every individual without exception, in His death. The objects of the Son's atonement must be equal to the objects of the Father's love, so both must include every man. If the Father loves all men equally, and the Son redeemed every man without exception, it follows that the Holy Spirit must convict every man or else the Trinity is not working together toward the same end in the task of redeeming lost men. It should be amply clear that this religion of works, or free will, based on a universal love and universal atonement, makes God's whole scheme of redemption depend on man for its success. God's love will prevail IF MAN will let it. Christ's atonement will actually redeem only IF MAN will let it. The Holy Spirit will apply redemption's purchased benefits IF MAN will allow Him. No wonder C. H. Spurgeon, that great soul winner, called free will "utter nonsense," and universal atonement a "monstrous doctrine akin to blasphemy." Now the second religion is the message of the Bible. It is the gospel of FREE GRACE. It does not look to God for the PROVISION and then turn to man for the POWER, but it boldly proclaims that the same sovereign grace that planned salvation for helpless sinners also furnishes them with the ability to desire and receive it. This second religion not only starts at a different place, it works on a different principle, and moves toward a different goal. In short, it is a totally different religion. The religion based on free will (Arminianism - If you will ...), and that based of free grace (Calvinism — God makes us willing ...) are two very distinct and opposite religions that differ on every theological point at which they meet. Any individual who piously says, "It is really not important, it is merely a question of EMPHASIS," is either deliberately dishonest or completely ignorant of Bible doctrine in church history. The Synod of Dort and the Council of Trent clarified forever the vital importance of the issue once and for all time. I challenge any man to read Dr. J. I. Packer's introduction to the DEATH OF DEATH IN THE DEATH OF CHRIST by John Owen, and then talk about emphasis. Packer clearly shows that free will and free grace are totally different religions, and furthermore, that they are irreconcilable enemies. WHO WEARS THE CROWN? As you can see, the real battle ground is the nature of man, and the prize to be won is the Crown of Credit for making redemption's plan actually work. Is free grace, given sovereignly by the Father, the decisive factor that causes the elect to believe in the first place, or is man's will, exercised sovereignly by the individual, the decisive factor that causes God to choose these whom He "foresees" are willing to believe? Who wins the right to wear the crown of glory, God or man? And by what power was that right won — free will or free grace? The basic difference between these two opposing religions can also be summed up by asking another question, a question vitally related to the first one. Instead of asking how any man can perish, and being told that, "the man would not do his part which was to simply believe," we now ask, "Why are SOME men saved?" How is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit's work able to succeed in some cases but not in others? The religion of free will humbly (?) answers that "MAN MADE IT ALL POSSIBLE BY BEING WILLING TO OPEN HIS HEART AND GIVE GOD A CHANCE!" It does not matter if we are speaking of those who perish or those who are saved, we always come back to that IF YOU WILL. Actually, the gospel based on free will can never be more than a gospel of mere POSSIBILITY. It is a plan of redemption that cannot truly redeem by its own power, but can only effect real salvation when it finds someone who make themselves willing to do "their part." It is not a question of whether a man must, or does, become willing before he can be saved, we all believe that, but WHO AND WHAT POWER makes the sinner willing? Does man, of himself, choose to become willing, or does God, by His sovereign power, make His elect willing "in the day of His power" (Ps. 110:3)? It seems both logical and judicially necessary to crown with glory the individual who made the plan of salvation actually work, and the free willer does not hesitate to reach for the crown and place it on the head of the sovereign and free will of man. Some folks may feel we are laboring this point to an extreme, but actually this is the heart of the matter. Who really deserves all the glory for man's salvation? It cannot be both God and man, nor can it be, as many would imply, half and half. Either God saves sinners by "making them willing in the day of His power," or they save themselves by making themselves willing in the "day of their free will decision." _John G. Reisinger |
italo:It's not hard for your sin to find you out. You oppose the living God and think you will have peace? Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on them. John3:36 |
italo:Lying is not far from you. How can you compile a book you don't believe? And how can you mortal canonise a book of the Holy God? The "Jesus" you preach is a subject of your god " blessed virgin mary". No wonder you live in sin and "work for eternal life" You are a hopeless man. Look at you |
italo:You stiff-necked man. May the Lord rebuke you for associating Him with a pagan religion. To say Jesus was Catholic is blasphemy against the Spirit of God. |

1 John 1:4-10 These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete. This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us. |

Your list isn't complete without Legalism, law keeping and "grace plus works" false gospels. |
Galatians 3:10-12 For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.” Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.” But the law is not of faith, rather “The one who does them shall live by them.” |
Blessed are you if you have been given eyes to see these things. And understanding to perceive.

^^ This is my experience with sin after God saved me in Christ. And every sinner's who is in Christ. It starts immediately after our conversion. You may not understand fully why you now hate the things, the ungodly company you enjoyed. But with time as you study the scriptures, the anointing in you will reveal why they are like that. You will feel filthy, very filthy and unworthy of God's love and mercy. That feeling is right, because you don't deserve His salvation. Again, it won't take long before the Holy Spirit brings to your mind-conciousness the cost of all your sins and how they have been paid in full by Christ. God hates sin. You will come to feel the same way too... hate sin. This is perfectly normal because the Holy God is now with you and in you. As this is going on, you will come to see how deep in sin you are because God's light is now shining steadily in you. You will look deeper and realise that not only do you commit sin, you are SIN yourself. That's why he was made SIN that you might be made the RIGHTEOUSNESS of God in him. 2Corinthians5:21. You wont look at yourself the same again. At first , you would think you are not so bad, then you progress a bit in grace and start seeing you are mostly bad. You keep progressing in grace until you come to realise you are nothing but filth. And the only thing you brought to the table of redemption was your filthy self. A dead man can't see or feel this.

STRUGGLE WITH SIN – A HEALTHY SIGN He who is really honest with himself and has had his eyes opened in some degree to see the awful sinfulness of self, and who is becoming more and more acquainted with that sink of iniquity, that mass of corruption which still indwells him, often feels that sin more completely rules him now than ever it did before. When he longs to trust God with all his heart, unbelief seems to paralyze him. When he wishes to be completely surrendered to God’s blessed will, murmurings and rebellion surge within him. When he would spend an hour in meditating on the things of God, evil imaginations harass him. When he desires to be more humble, pride seeks to fill him. When he would pray, his mind wanders. The more he fights against these sins, the further off victory seems to be. To him it appears that sin is very much the master of him, and Satan tells him that his profession is vain. What shall we say to such a dear soul who is deeply exercised over this problem? The very fact that you are conscious of these sins and are so much concerned over your failure to overcome them, is a HEALTHY SIGN. It is the blind who cannot see; it is the dead who feel not – true alike naturally and spiritually. Only they who have been quickened into newness of life are capable OF REAL SORROW FOR SIN. Moreover, such experiences as we have mentioned above evidence a spiritual growth: a growth in the knowledge of self. As the wise man tells us, ‘he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow’ (Eccl. 1:18). In God’s light we see light (Ps. 36:9). The more the Holy Spirit reveals to me the high claims of God’s holiness, the more I discover how far short I come of meeting them. Let the midday sun shine into a darkened room, and dust and dirt which before were invisible are now plainly seen. So with the Christian: the more the light of God enters his heart, the more he discovers the spiritual filth which dwells there. Beloved brother, or sister, it is not that you are becoming more sinful, but that GOD IS NOW GIVING YOU A CLEARER AND FULLER SIGHT OF YOUR SINFULNESS. Praise Him for it, for the eyes of the vast majority of your fellows (religionists included) are blind, and cannot see what so distresses YOU! _ A.W Pink. |

Splinz:Hi Greetings! Yes, I've seen your honest strives and zeal for the word of God, which is why I want us to reason together as regarding your submissions below:You are welcome. For the first half of this statement, I say YES! But for the remaining part of it, I have some reservations to make, as will be seen as we progress.ok Yes, and it is also true that there is a righteousness that comes through the Law, i.e, works (Romans 7:12).This is Romans 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy and the commandment holy, and just and good Was this what you intended quoting? From the verse above there is nothing indicating righteousness through the law/works, it only stated that the Law is holy, just and good. Now, the Bible is very clear about how righteousness is inputted into us. Not only did it say it is by faith it also went ahead to refute any claim of obtaining righteousness through the law/works. A very good example would be Romans 9:31-32 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; How simple. We can't obtain righteousness through the law, we can only obtain self righteousness. Faith is what counts. To tell you how useless works based righteousness is look how it is completely ignored by God in our regeneration. Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Again, there is sanctification through the Law. An example is the Sabbath law that sanctifies those who keep it (Genesis 2:3).OK let's look at it. Genesis 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. Again there is no where in this verse where sanctification is said to also be through the law. Neither does it say the Sabbath law sanctifies those who keep it. It simply says God blessed and sanctified the Sabbath day. ie by sanctifying that day, he set aside that day as a special day for resting. Nothing more. Now coming to the new covenant, we come to see the substance or the real Sabbath, which is Christ. In Hebrews 4:1-11 Please look at it. It's quite long to quote. It's summarily talking about the rest that we must enter, Which is his rest Vs 2 is talking about the different dispensations. Those in the old even though they observed the Sabbath day could not enter into his rest because they heard the gospel but had no faith to believe in it and rest (cease from their works). SO THERE REMAINS A REST. vs 10 for he that is entered into his rest, he also had cease from his works, as God did from his. That is he that believes the gospel, the finished work of Christ-vs3 (and does not work to obtain righteousness, sanctification, justification, etc) will enter into his rest. So Santification isn't by law keeping but by faith in Christ who is our sanctification 1Corinthians 1:30 And we are also justified by works of the Law (Romans 2:13). Romans 2:13 For not the hearers of the law are just before God but the doers True. Not the hearers are justified but the doers. Let me explain what this means. In doing this I will explain who the hearers and the doers are. You'd be surprised they are not what you think they are! First we know that the law is holy and just and good but we are nothing but Sin. The Law only tells us what is right and wrong. It doesn't give us the power to do them. Ie it cannot make us righteous. The Israelites had the Law, they heard the DOs and DON'Ts of the law but being carnal sold under sin and slaves of sin, they were powerless to keep the law. Even the most "well intentioned" person couldn't. Sin took advantage of the law and wrought in me all manner of concupiscence, for without the law sin was dead Romans 7:8. Without the law, we would not know where, when we offend God but the Law was introduced to bring us to this knowledge. What am I trying to say, men can only hear the law but they can't do what it says. We are naturally just hearers but not doers So it is not the person that hears that is right before God but the one that does that is right. And from what we've seen so far, no man is born a doer of the law. NO MAN CAN KEEP THE LAW. But one man did! And He said Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. Matthew 5:17 He came to do what we could not do, what we cannot do, what we can never do. He didn't come to destroy the law, he came to fulfill it. Why? So that we can obtain righteousness through faith in Him which we could not obtain by the law. What Adam could not do, He did. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.Romans 5:19 In Romans 2 Paul was trying to tell the Israelites who were trying to obtain righteousness by the works of the law (and of course they failed) that the gentiles who didn't have the law of commandments but were doing what is in the law were justified. How? By faith in Christ. In believing Christ's finished work, God Himself writes these laws in their hearts. vs 15. Hebrews 10:16 confirms this. This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds. Guess what they will work out/bear/manifest? What is inside their hearts? And what is inside? The laws of God! They are not working for righteousness but trusting in Christ to live IN them. And when Christ is living in them, the law is upheld automatically. The sinner in Christ does not need to go back to the law for righteousness, Christ obedience has made him righteous. And now Christ lives in him. About Faith and Works. It's true we can't have one without the other but they come in order. One comes first. And Faith it is. Faith before works. Seed before fruits. Salvation simply means “saved from death”OK... Understand. There is absolutely nothing that one can do to earn his/her salvation except to accept or be given salvation as a GIFT, since what we can only earn and have been earning is death! But how did this gift of God through faith come about, and what are you to do with this gift, or what is expected of you? This lead us to the next part—works.ok... The Bible says “Abraham believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness (Genesis 15:6, Romans 4:3). But is that the end of it? Here's what James has to say: “Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar? You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by works, and the scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness”; and he was called the friend of God” (James 2:21-23). The end of the story.Lol do you not understand what this faith we are talking about? Do you think this Faith in Christ is an abstract thing? Do you know what we have? We have Christ in us. What do you think Christ is doing in us when we believe? Idling away? or listing out instructions for us to follow. LOL. CHRIST IS LIVING IN US. CHRIST IS FULFILLING HIS OBEDIENCE IN US. splintz if at this point you are still trying to obtain righteousness by faith and by works then have you ever thought about a startling fact that you have not experienced this power that I've been talking about from the beginning. Paul: Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you--unless, of course, you fail the test? 2Corinthians 13:5 If Christ is in you why do you have little faith or no faith at all in him? Why do you think that with Christ inside of you you will still continue in sin as you were before he found you? Examine yourself. If Christ is inside of you you will join me in testifying of his goodness because He will not let you continue in sin. He is stronger than what is stronger than you! You can't defeat sin but Christ can. That's why He has to live IN us. Romans 7! Back to Abraham and faith and works. It is very clear in all scriptures that Abraham was justified, declared not guilty by faith. His faith was counted as righteousness. Even in James. Scriptures are to be in harmony right? They can't contradict. From Genesis down to the apostles we are told that Abraham was made righteous by faith and the epistles have these almost on all pages confirming that men are made righteous by faith. So why is James saying men are justified by faith and works and not faith alone like the other scriptures? Are we dishonest men and women? If not let us face this squarely. No scripture contradicts another but when we come across one that seems to contradict ( because of our misunderstanding) we must interpret contextually. James started thus in 2:1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory with respect of persons. Apart from stating that the faith of Jesus does not discriminate against persons, James is bringing to our notice something profound which many ignore which is that the faith we preach is alive and bears fruits. And one of the fruits it does not bear is discrimination. Did you see that? ![]() James is saying if you have the faith of Christ prove it through your works because even the devil believes that there is God. Anybody can claim they have faith but there is only one faith that bears fruits. That is the faith of Jesus, the faith we preach. If you claim to have the faith of Christ and it does not bear fruits/good works in you then your faith is not of Christ but a dead faith. Can this dead faith save a man? No Which faith saves? The faith that produces works. If it does not produce works or bears fruits that faith is not alive and cannot save. vs 14 What does it profit my brethren, though a man say he hath faith and hath no works? can faith save him? James is saying "in scriptural harmony" that how can a man say he has faith but yet we can't see goodworks or changes in him. It means that man has another faith which cannot save. This faith is a dead one. vs 17 Even so faith if it hath no works, is dead, being alone. See this! Remember. Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them UNTO GOOD WORKS. if we don't show good works then our faith is not rooted in Christ but is dead. Abraham's obedience to offer Isaac upon the altar was the evidence of his faith in God. He wasn't justified by works before God but before men. But he was justified by faith alone before God who searches the hearts unlike men who judge from the outside. Only God can see faith in us but men need to see our works to confirm our faith. Works fulfil(show perfectly) faith. This is like saying the bearing of fruits shows seeds beneath the ground we can't see. vs 21,22,23 Was not Abraham our father justified by works. when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? See thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect. And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God and it was inputted unto him for righteousness, and he was called the friend of God Yes! Abraham didn't just believe God and that ends it, no! Abraham's faith was accompanied with works—obedience to God and His Law (Genesis 26:5). No wonder Paul said that “It is not the hearers of the law that are justified but the DOERS!” It is simple. When Abraham was tested by God, he believed what God said through faith and then proceeded to work which was to offer his son.Lol. In the same vein, when someone is called to be a Christian (John 6:44, 65), there are at least three stages that he/she must pass through: 1. Repentance 2. Baptism 3. Receiving of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38). Now talking of repentance, this is serious work! Yes, one must first of all make conscious efforts of rejecting his former ways, and then go on to receive baptism, believing that his sins will be washed away and he/she saved at that very moment. In all of these stages, faith and works are inseparable! One just doesn't believe in Jesus and that ends it, actually, where there is faith, there is of necessity, works to accompany it! (James 2:18).Lol. We already talked about salvation through the gospel. Check previous post. You can't add to it else you take its power and the sinner remains unsaved. Finally, as a further proof that salvation is not automaticBy this you mean, there are things you need to do to gain "complete salvation". Well, it's not scriptural. and not entirely free (it is free to us but not to God. It cost Him His Son), Paul admonishes us to “work out our salvation with fear and trembling” (Philippians 2:12).Lol take note work out not work for And what does God requires from us, for giving us such a precious gift? Ephesians 2:10 answered: “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them”. And also “...appointed that you should go out and bear fruits...” (John 15:16).Exactly! But this is not a requirement, this is God's handwork in us, forming and conforming us to the image of His son What fruit? One may say the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Of course, correct. But how do you exhibit these fruits, by just preaching it or by practicing it through works?ooooh Splintz how do you practice fruits through works? Are these fruits not the works already. Are fruits hidden? What about love which is vitally important? How do you practice it?The love of God shed abroad in your heart doesn't need your work or practice for it to manifest. It will manifest by itself Again, the Scripture answers: “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and His commandments are not grievous” (1 John 5:3) and “love is the fulfilling of the law” (Romans 13:10).This is true but it's not saying what you are saying In conclusion, “You have faith and I have works. Show me your faith apart from your works, and I by my works will show you my faith” (James 2:18).The summary of James is Genuine faith produces works while dead faith doesnt. It's not saying righteousness is by faith plus works |
