I read an acclaimed interview of BH spokesman with blueprints newspaper when hr said they (BH) are pleased with blueprints media for giving them that publicity when nobody knew about them and how they were first attacked by the Army.
If you read carefully, I did not say they should lie on the number of casualties but can lower their voice on it rather than bringing unnecessary arguments that wouldn't in anyway do more psychological harm. A headline can simply be put that persons were fear dead following the attack is just enough.
The citizens will be aware of the attack but will be saved from some of the psychological harm of the attack.
Media doesnt in any way stop the army from fronting the line.
You don't seem to know much about terrorism and the role of the media. Go find out.

We as nigerians in the cyberspace must as a matter of urgent importance support the government and media to suffocate the terrorists using the media platforms.
I want to quote Margaret Thatcher who stated "media is the oxygen on which terrorists depend" which was further reiterated by Lai Mohammed today. Terrorists want to be popular because the more they become popular, the more they achieve their goes of instilling fear, terror and devastating psychological effects on the citizens and beautifully, the Nigerian media space is being used to achieve this. I agree we have the right to know but I want you all to also know that currently, BH is happy with the media for helping their mission of terror.
Its high time the media stood on the side of the government to protect the citizens from terror and halt all forms of terrorism through well censored reportage in terms of content especially.
When BH strike, they don't count their victims per head and they calmly wait for the media to tell them how successful they were and how weak the govt forces were. Also, the media must stop publicing intelligent information against terror groups as it aids in changing their modus operandi.
Of what good is it to both the media and her audience if the death toll was 26 or over 50? Will it not be on the gain for the BH sect to measure the degree of their success and ways to improve? Does it not cause more panics to us all?
Please our media, use the cyberspace infrastructure to weaken and suffocate terrorists rather than making them terror/dreaded celebrity. Use the social platform as a tool for sustaining peace and democracy.

Oga, which ever one you are, Nigerians need to know the truth. Media shouldn't be gagged from reporting actual casualty figures. When it happened in Paris, the French media reported the actual number of casualties. The same with Britain in 2005 . The same with the US in 2001,September 11.
Moreover, the APC government prided themselves in Nigerian troops losing ground against boko haram; they were actually very happy instead of uniting with the PDP leadership, at such trying time, and seeing the whole thing as a national emergency.
The PDP leadership passed the FOI act and signed it into law. The APC states are still resisting it. Who then wants transperency among the two? You be the judge.

President –Elect, Mohammadu Buhari has reassured that his administration will crush the Boko Haram insurgents within two months of his assuming office.

General Buhari spoke  on a Cable News Network (CNN) programme, Amanpour, monitored in Lagos, explaining that the Federal Government made some mistakes in its fight against the insurgents that will be addressed by his regime.

Indeed, Buhari said that his regime would need the assistance of Niger, Cameroun and Chad to help checkmate the insurgents.

His words: “We will be needing the cooperation of neighbouring countries such as Cameroun, Chad and Niger. There were efforts made by the President Goodluck Jonathan administration, but it was not good enough and it came rather late.

“These were only done a few months ago and we have seen how Cameroun, Chad and Niger are fighting Boko Haram more than Nigeria is doing until recently.

This evening, troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, intercepted and destroyed 10 suspected Boko Haram terrorists suicide bombers at the outskirts of Maiduguri city.
Contrary to earlier media reports and rumours flying around, 2 Boko Haram terrorists suspected suicide bombers earlier intercepted by vigilant troops disclosed their colleagues intent to enter the city with the aim of detonating bombs in selected public places. Consequently, the troops laid ambush on the terrorists suspected routes along Damboa road and eliminated them. The suicide bombers were intercepted in 3 different locations approaching the city; Ajiri area towards Damboa road, High Court axis and the Eye Hospital Area.
The Explosive Ordinance Device team have been mobilized and they are combing the general a area as well as clearing the debris. Normalcy has been restored to the general area and the public are please advised to go about their normal businesses and social activities. However, it is important to maintain more vigilance and security consciousness.

Oga, not many that are angry at Lai Muhammed do so out of joy that Boko Haram are attacking Maiduguri. Rather, what pains them is the unnecessary public relations stunt by Lai and the COAS. Also, it will become mandatory for every Nigerian to have his blood group and genotype ascertained and printed in an identity card, which he must carry with him anytime he is embarking on a journey that is outside his abode. He can be refused entry into a motor on a public transport , until he produces his health id card.

With what happened recently in a government hospital where a nairaland member works, and the ensuing controversy about the appropriateness or otherwise of his action towards an accident victim, those taking a holistic approach to the problem have talked about a health policy to guarantee treatment for patients in emergency situations, irrespective of whether they have the money for treatment or not. It is in line with this that I am proposing this topic for discussions in the forum, that, after rubbing minds together, we will come up with the BILL to protect patients in emergencies; like pregnant women needing c-section, accident victims etc.
I am not employed in the health care sector. But we all can make a whole world of difference by uniting to formulate this bill.
Way Forward. That the national assembly enact a law that makes it mandatory for all hospitals, both government and private treat patients on emergency without asking for money first. That the package will include government providing funds to hospitals or NMA to buy all those things that doctors need for treating patients under emergency . This would be provided for in every annual budget. Please, contribute your own opinion or either, modify mine.
