Katsumoto: Apart from Owerri, can you tell us the other parts that were recovered by Biafra? Was it Calabar, Nsukka, Enugu, Ikot Ekpene, Port Harcourt, Aba?
Apart frpom Owerri, Biafrans continued to resist the enemies even in territories that were in enemy hands. Some of this towns were not completely in enemies hands until the end of war.
Believe me, it was too difficult to surrender. Even with the fall of Enugu and the air port, one would have expected Biafra to surrender. Yet they came up immediately with another idea-Uli and Uga air strips. Did they fall also before the war ended?. NOOO.
PoliticsRe: Why Gowon Can't Write His Memoir by AndreUweh(m): 10:34pm On Mar 27, 2013
Katsumoto: Of course they didn't discuss surrender because their territory was growing daily and it wasn't their wives and children who were dying daily. There was no need for Ojukwu to surrender as long as Federal soldiers had not entered his street.
Biafrans continued for a long time to fight as they were also reclaiming territories lost to the enemy.
I wish Biafra surrendered early but it was not possible because they also fought well.
PoliticsRe: Why Gowon Can't Write His Memoir by AndreUweh(m): 10:25pm On Mar 27, 2013
Katsumoto: and failed to surrender when it was obvious he was going to lose.
Ojukwu regularly met with his war time service chiefs and there was no time they discussed surrender. Even if you were a member of that cabinet, you will be in a difficult position to accept defeat. For example, Oguta is lost today and in 4 days time Biafra reclaims it. The situation remained like that till the end of hostilities.

T9ksy: Please, can you etell us which part of the aburi accord, gowon failed to honour which necessitated ojukwu

gambling with millions of lives by going to war?
The issue of conferderation was not implemented and Gowon did not show signs of implementing it.
Ojukwu did not go to war as he did not declare any war. Biafra was attacked, first by Shuwa of the fiorst division. Biafra defendeded her territories

ACM10: @Katsumoto,

Would you want us to analyze the contents of the Aburi accord to see the agreements which were honoured and the ones which were not?
Did Gowon actually honour it?. Anyway, the most important ones were not honoured

PoliticsRe: Why Gowon Can't Write His Memoir by AndreUweh(m): 9:39pm On Mar 27, 2013
Katsumoto: Ojukwu planned for war, he just didn't plan adequately. Did Ojukwu not utter these words - "on the specific question of whether there is a possibility of contact with the North, the answer is at the battlefield". Pre-1967, was there any nation that achieved independence without negotiation or force? Why would Ojukwu think that secession would not result in military action?

Gowon did implement the agreements at Aburi except the requirement from Ojukwu that the Regional Governors could not be fired by the Head of State. Ojukwu calculated that Gowon would fire him once the agreement was in place and preferred to go to war for that. Even the American diplomats praised Gowon for the extents he went in implementing the Aburi accord. Before the January coup, each region was able to elect its governor. Now when Ironsi appointed Ojukwu, why didn't Ojukwu insist on the people voting for their governor? If Ojukwu could be appointed by a military head of state, why should he insist on not being fired by a military head of state?
Appointing military governors does not mean they will serve forever. There is nothing to show that the governors Gen Ironsi appointed have permanently replaced the civilians.
Assuming, a state of emergency is declared in Bornu or Yobe and a military man appointed to handle the affairs of the affected state. Would you not understand why such a move was made:?.

Since the arrival of Emenalo, Chelsea has won the holy grail and lots of trophies. Emenalo has done nothing wrong at Chelsea. His arrival at Chelsea has also helped to recruit two Nigerian internationals eg Moses and Omeruo. It's a pity Nigerians do not want fellow Nigerians to do well. Bad belle .

After all your ranting, so you live in uptown Lagos, I mean London? Those Nigerians living in Nigeria have a car of their own and they can actually drive, unlike you bunch that live in a welfare state that is six or less hours away from Nigeria. When people living and working abroad are having conversations please stay clear. Phaggot are you not one of those tour guide that makes 30 pounds a trip to take Lagosians to places they can shop when they arrive the UK? Bunch of your lots are begging us to send them invitation letter cos they could not secure a minimum wage job after obtaining a fire brigade one year masters degree certificate in rhetardness......lol
That means if you escape to yankee from that low income housing you live in London, you will start stepping on bloggers heads? I was in the UK last year and could not believe what my eyes saw.....These dudes are starving and out of shame, most dont wannna go back to naija but choose to rove the street of UK with no papers.
I really understand your post but you are addressing the wrong person. The chat is a British citizen and does not reside in London.
PoliticsRe: Did Achebe Actually Insult The Yorubas? by AndreUweh(m): 12:40am On Mar 25, 2013
thelastPope: After reading the book, There was a country, I couldnt find anywhere Chinua Achebe insulted the Yorubas as alleged. So please can anyone explain where he insulted the Yorubas?

His account of Awo's involvement in the civil war did not contain any insult or ridicule of the Yorubas. It also didnt contain any thing that could make us tag Achebe a bigot. Awo made both good and bad decisions in his time as minister. Anyone can comment on those decisions, including Achebe. How that translates into insulting the Yorubas is something I can't understand. That was simply his account of the war and it is open to debate. It can even be faulted by superior argument. He had a right to his opinion. However, I am concerned that after so much shout on this forum, one would have thought he actually insulted the Yorubas, but, from the contents of the book, he didnt.

Or maybe there is another version of the book that I am not aware of?
He didn't do it.

PoliticsRe: Did Chinua Achebe Actually Do Anything To Promote Development In Nigeria? by AndreUweh(m): 11:36pm On Mar 24, 2013
@Topic, politically, Prof Achebe could have done a lot to promote Nigeria if Nigerians had voted him in as vice president in 1979 elections. After that election, he did not vie for any political post.
Notwithstanding, many politicians has borrowed his policies which was marshaled out in Ahiara declaration which he co-authored.
He has also used literature to present the people of Nigeria as people with history. No Nigerian has done that more than prof Achebe.
No non politician has done more than Achebe.
