It is so difficult attracting them to play for Nigeria unless they are not so good. |
Some of us Ndigbo have different dialects that are so strong. Instead of writing our strong dialects in threads that are meant for every Igbo, then we better do it here. As someone claimed in another thread that it is rude to write in your dialect in threads meant for the entirety of Ndigbo. Chinenye who likes writing in his village dialect should feel free to do it here or in the Ngwa thread created today. Failure to do that means he should forever shut up. |
Where is Chinenye when I need him most?. Perhaps, someone has to declare him missing in another thread. |

1025: zola no play for chelsea in that game. true or false? The same Zola who left before Roman's takeover.Did Zola play under J. Mourinho?. No. |
ChinenyeN: I'm against the commercialization of those red hats and especially against propagating them as national Igbo dressing. It's unnecessary. Also, if people want to keep their culture as is, then leave them. Telling them to move on (i.e. commercializing it) is as much an insult to their identity as it it an insult to others' identities (by then propagating it as national "Igbo"So Nenye, you mean you will embarass this chap in this photograph if you see him at World Igbo congress. As I said earlier, the red hats are for the titled men but the Igbo society you have today has moved away from that meaning minus Anioma/Anambra axis. It is allowed and should be allowed.
|
There are other colours e.g the one in photograph below. But the red hat is now an Igbo symbolism. It was meant for titled men but the Igbo society has now adopted it as gen Igbo attire not just meant for Ndi chiri echichi.
|
The in thing is the mind of the wearer. If criminal can wear it in the name of Nze na Ozo, why can any other person especially innocent Igbo people wear it?. The identity of an Igboman's attire today rests mainly in that red hat. Ndigbo today wear Babariga, Agbada etc but to know that they are not Hausa or Igbo, it is that red hat. It has become the identity of Ndigbo, and those in Anioma and Anambra, sorry to say this but we have to move on. |
People should not be worried about a non titled man dressing the way he likes. Afterall, he is promoting Igbo culture. In the past, people have accused Ndigbo of not wearing their traditional clothes, now the emphasis is shifting to red hat. What should concern us now are people who acquire those titles without achieving anything for the community. Some of those Nze and Ozos are not worth it. |
pazienza: Antivirus, i equally wonder too,i mean most igbos seem to understand anambra dialects easily. You are correct. The whole episode is stage-managed by him. |
michelin89:Your idea sounds good but sometimes I feel that there people up there who are not interested in what happens here. For example, there is a thread about Igbo trad attire and meanings going on now. It does not make the front page but immediately an Igbo monarch is kidnapped, it appears in the front page. I strongly believe that the mentality of those who put threads in the front page should be examined. Check out this thread below. https://www.nairaland.com/998386/igbo-attire-meaning |
^^^ This titled men are suppose to be people who have made a mark in their respective communities. For achievers to dine with other achievers in another town is a mark of respect accorded to achievers. It's a pity that nowaddays, some people have acquired this titles through bribery and other monetary endorsements. Surely, this has to stop in Igboland. I appeal to my people to stop it. |
Hand beads, usually worn or the right but lately on both hands. This shows that Igbo speaking south south or south east, one is respected to eat and drink with other title holders. Example, If Mazi Uweh is spotted with hand beads in Oguta, this permits me to dine with Mazi Abagworo and other titled men in that town. In another thread not related to this, someone said Ndigbo has the best culture in Africa and I agreed with him.

Where is 1025 when we need him. May be NEPA has done its worst in his area. |
dayokanu: How many yrs ago Kaka don leave Milan? We can also say Chelsea played without Dessailly, Robben and shevchenkoPato I meant. |
@Odenigbo. Nwanne Udo diri gi. I know the symbolism of the hed hat in Anioma, Anambra and to some extent Enugu, but it is a little bit different elsewhere in Igboland. In Okigwe zone of Imo state and in Imo state probably minus Oguta, the red hat is for Ezes, titled men and head of families. This red means struggle which could be blood to save their families and communities, shield it when required and see the community progress. But we must agree on one thing. The red cap is respected and worn with dignity all over Igboland despite some differences. |
Odenigbo Aroli: Andre,on that second picture you posted; Take a good look at the man who is standing second from the right. That man knows nothing about the red hat. He looks like a complete joke. Seriouslly, some southern Igbos like to wear the red hat and look all noble but they dont know what it signifies, its substance and even how to combine it with the regallia, hence has bastardized the attire. As for Ndigbo outsde Anambra and Anioma, there is a litle bit shift from what the red cap stands for. Red cap worn by fathers, heads of home and titled men shows that through their suffering and shedding of their blood, their families, entire community and society grows and progresses. |
@MODS, I posted a picture in the above post but it did not appear. |
The man occupying the highest position in Igboland-Amb R. Chukwu. Uwechue in his traditional Akwa Ocha. |
This is interesting, however, it has to be in the sports section. |
We played our strongest side last night yet lost to a Milan side playing without Ibrahimovic, Silva, Kaka, Robinho, Seadorf, Abiate etc. The line up last night is our line up for the season opener. Something has to be done urgently. |
Nkpara (walking stick), on a coronation of an Eze/Obi/Igwe or titled men, the walking stick is offered-means the titled person is wished to stay long in this life and be old to the extent that the walking stick will support him/her to walk about.
|
ezeagu: I believe that is 'akwa ocha', no?Yes. |
ChinenyeN: How come Ezeagu's posts are being hidden?I thought you were going to contribute something special to the thread. You disappoint a lot.LOL |
