birdman: Meh, early season jitters to be worked out. Lets see them in February. The rest of your post doesn't make any sense, try making your point directly next time. Sarcasm is not really an argument, just so you know. Something about sarcasm being the lowest form of wit, but what do I know... Kobe Bryant told Lebron after the Lakers did not make it to the playoffs in 2019 that leadership is not about passing the ball to people and blaming them for missing shots or yelling at people. |

birdman: He makes teammates much better. We almost beat the 72-win golden state, barring one game where he was injured. OKC pushed Rockets to game 7 last year playoffs with rookies and no name players. Suns are red hot this year. I know you get it now. I do. They just beat the almighty Kings having lost that same game a couple days back. Prior to then, CP3 and Harden beat a leaderless Warriors team in which Curry had 0 pts in the first half and failed by scoring 33 in the second half to still lose to CP3 4-2. Remember that useless Curry that lacks leadership qualities that qualified for the playoffs 51-31 under Mark Jackson? The one who won 67-15 under Kerr and a ring with all those all star players? I wish he was CP3 who won 3 rings with the wonderful Clippers. |

benji93: Analyze basketball properly bro, analyze. In the past 2 games he's not had the chance to shoot himself out of his poor form, cos it's always been a blowout and Kerr won't let him stat pad. He was very poor again, just better than the previous two, but this time he had 4 quarters, and he did come through in the fourth. I have a feeling you are just looking at the box score. Wiggins played well in the first and held us in it until the 2nd half, especially the 4th when Curry came alive. Curry needed 20 assists against Nets to influence the game instead of the 10 he got. And he should never ever suffer a shooting slump because any day he does he is not fit to be an NBA player. Unlike Lebron that has always been the best shooter the NBA has ever seen and has never suffered a shooting slump. Imagine if Klay Thompson was playing he would have carried the team like he always does. Klay Thompson has never suffered a shooting slump in 2018 and 2019 like Curry. Curry is a bum. |

Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Android17: 6:28am On Dec 28, 2020 |
birdman: I think steady986 is talking ala CP3. Curry is a fearsome offensive weapon. But he has no multiplier effect on the rest of the team. We never realized this because having Klay with Curry lets the ball flow freely anyways. I dont think this is a knock on Curry anyhow because Lillard is the same way. And like you said how do you motivate a Wiggins? CP3 would definitely force the issue with Wiggins and Oubre, find them easy buckets and hold them accountable. Like CP3 did in Clippers and Rockets when they won all those rings. Gotit. |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Android17: 2:06am On Dec 28, 2020 |
steady986: Is it only Oubre and Wiggins that are not shooting well? Curry is 4 for 20 from 3 in the first 2 games. He's culpable too. If Curry's problem is shooting 3s then there is no problem. He is still far and away the best 3 point shooter in the league. Besides, it is the Nets and Bucks he lost to on their turf. He had lost at Oracle with KD in the team to Bucks by 30+ points. Things like that will happen from time to time. I will not criticize Oubre and Wiggins yet. Boston Celtics got beat up pretty bad by the same Nets and with a greater margin than the warriors did. It is a long season and teams will ebb, flow and go through the motions. |

benji93: True, but are 3s the only points that count? He's been doing ok from midrange and drives. Those guys cannot even get a bucket from midrange. You obviously do not understand what you are saying. How many points do you want him to score? 60 every night? It's obvious he rushes some of his 3s and i understand why he still tries to take them despite not being good looks cos even if another player has a better look he'll brick it. Na the reason why i dey ask you if na back of TV you dey watch. Cos if you watched the game at least until it became a blow out you would have noticed his shots began falling for a stretch, then his teammates bricking continued then he slumped again. And i am in no way defending his poor shooting form as i believe he should be able to lead this team with Draymond Green and an upcoming Wiseman. For Oubre and Wiggins, dem fit add whatever dem wan add. . But what you talk up there na rubbish. How dare you make so much sense like this ehn? |

Only gullible people will believe that silly story on the thread. The governor confirmed 2 people lost their lives in the hospital following injuries they sustained at the toll. I agree with that. Anthony Okechukwu Umeh however died on his way back from the toll (he was there on the 19th remember?) during the early hours of October 20th, 2020, close to Petrocam at Ajah, on his way home (he lived in Sangotedo). steady986: First he claimed the Rockets didn't miss 27 straight threes, then when he realised he was wrong he tried to use English to confuse us. Lol.
And I love how we've gotten him to talk favourably about LeBron in an argument In one breath, Iguodala is not crucial. In another breath, Lebron has high efficiency and buckets because there are no competent centers to block him like it was in the eighties and nineties. |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Android17: 11:38pm On Oct 15, 2020 |
A40: What does Finals MVP have to do with CP3 vs Iguodala in the year of our Lord 2018. Are you comparing the importance of CP3 to the Rockets vs Iggy for the Warriors let me know so I can disembark from this argument sharp sharp. Can't be arguing with someone being deliberately dishonest
The Rockets went from a 3rd or 4th seed to 66 wins with the addition of CP3 and you're talking of Iggy and an award he won 3 years ago. Jesus wept
How many wins did the Rockets have the next season? As I said if you're going to be deliberately dishonest no point continuing this argument
Don't erroneously claim that the 3's they made was what kept them ahead. They missed 27 3's during the duration of the game. Doesn't mean they made 7 3's and missed 27 subsequent ones. The Warriors made 9 more 3's and still only won by 9.
No one said the 72-10 bulls were unbeatable. I don't know why you are shadow boxing with yourself. I said the KD Warriors were as well and the Rockets proved it by taking them to 7 and missing 3's at a historical clip to lose that game Everyone reading the posts can tell who is being dishonest. The only reason we are having this conversation is your claim that the KD-Warriors were beatable and by that you meant could lose a series- not a game. I attempted to establish that the peak of that team was 2016-17. Moreso, I was willing to concede that at 3-2 and with a double digit lead at half time, an MJ led Rockets could have won in 2017-18. I then contended factually that the 2016-17 version were definitely a tough matchup for Lebron and statistically could have defeated any of MJs winning teams. You have changed the definition of beatable; brought up missed threes, no CP3, Kawhi, no help for MJ, came back from retirement; they were not the same team etc when that same argument can be made for GSW after 2016-17 season. All because you think I am here to defend Lebron. You now want to claim that 27 missed threes for the Rockets was "over the course of the game". When every one knows that Rockets led by double digits at half time ((which means whatever they were doing was working)). Funfact, I actually looked up the boxscores and the Rockets made 1/21 threes in the 2nd half. They were also down by 13 towards the end. That means the warriors made a 24 point swing in the game. Which is reflective of 8 of the 9 more threes they made over the rockets. Meanwhile, the crucial Chris Paul was only able to see his team win by a total of 5 points in games 4 and 5 put together but the Iguodala that was a defensive pain in the behind to Rockets was less crucial. Then life gives us a chance to check their cruciality, when both teams are not the same again with KD out at 2-2 and with Chris Paul and Iguodala starting for their respective teams, the less crucial person was more instrumental to his team winning 4-2. But I am dishonest. Let us agree to disagree. |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Android17: 8:06pm On Oct 15, 2020 |
A40: Are you serious? Are you comparing Andre Iguodala to Chris Paul? This is a terrible joke surely
No objective fan would compare Iguodala to Chris Paul
They led the first half because they made their 3's? Do you guys even fact check anything at all. They shot 7-44 from 3 the entire game bro!! Always double-check and don't just post anything to make an argument
Who was MJ's help in 94/95? How well did they play?
Beatable means they can be beat. There is difference between unbeaten and unbeatable. If you can be pushed to a Game 7 and be down by double digits by half-time even with the other team missing it's second best player then you can be beat Iguodala is a FMVP and Chris Paul is not. What that means is he can influence an NBA finals series in ways Chris Paul has never done. Antecedent is with me on this one; when Andre was fit Warriors were leading 2-1 and when he played the very next season even with Paul playing, Warriors won 4-2. Next point, if they made 7/44 does that not mean it was 7/17 before they missed 27 threes? How many threes had the warriors made by then? How well MJs help played is also moot. MJ has had poor showings that the Bulls still won in the finals. The final argument on beatable etc. is now entirely semantical. Even MJs 72-10 Bulls were "beatable" too. |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Android17: 5:36pm On Oct 15, 2020 |
A40: I want you to explain why you believe in a Game 7 MJ would take 13 3's. Because they literally lost that game due to their inability to make 3's
MJ lost to the better team when he didn't have any help this is not the debate here. Your argument about SAS losing to the Warriors sans KD is also moot because same SAS beat the Warriors by 29 points on their own ground WITH KD
The argument is were the Warriors beatable and the answer is a resounding YES. The rest is semantics. If it took a CP3 injury for the Warriors to come back from a 3-2 deficit then don't say that team was unbeatable MJ has both won and lost games that he barely shot any 3s and when he shot many 3s. Against Portland in 92 game one he shot many 3s and they won that game because he made 7 of them. Further, Rockets lost to the better team. They led first half because they made their 3s so losing second half because they did not make their 3s is logically consistent. CP3 was playing while Rockets were down 2-1 so him being the reason they did not win from 3-2 is as you said, moot. A warriors fan is also allowed to say Rockets went up 3-2 from 2-1 because Andre Iguodala got injured in game 3. MJ lost with help in 1994/95. You are right that Warriors lost by 29 points to the spurs. Which is why I conceded that losing that game 1 of WCF was probable with them being down 23 with 21 minutes to go. Being beatable is not about losing a game or 2. It is about losing a series. |

steady986: So who ever averaged more points automatically is the better player? Really? And are we still talking about regular season MVP when LeBron has won the finals MVP? Isn't the finals MVP the be all and end all? The bottom line is that at age 35, LeBron will be entering next season as the best player in the league. Same with MJ, but obviously he retired temporarily at 35
And in the three years KD and Steph played together, Giannis, Harden and Westbrook all won MVP. Giannis won it with 27.7 and 12.5 and had the best record in the league. Harden won it with 30pts and 8.8 assists while leading Houston to first in the west. Westbrook won it while averaging an unprecedented 31 point triple double. Tell me who you would have not given MVP from those three? Finals MVP is not the end all be all. Really, think about it. It takes only the finals game(s) into account and could careless if the FMVP was coasting during the first round, semis and conference finals. And MJ would have entered the following season after his 35th birthday as the best player as well. By the way, Giannis and Harden deserved it but narrative gave it to RWB. Warriors had 67-15 that year and won 18 straight games with Durant out. Curry had 28 ppg as well. You see, if your argument is that Lebron deserved it this season then why would it not have been one of the warriors players that 2016/17 season? |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by Android17: 5:02pm On Oct 14, 2020 |
WeissVonner: Nope best record, tougher conference, less reliable supporting cast (without AD). Those stats wouldnt matter, he certainly would have won. Giannis' Bucks had a better record. Tougher conference is true but Giannis' cast are equally unreliable. |
