Very true. Even my own that is a pastor is not exempted. What's wrong with black pple?
It's something called "Poverty Mentality" which is deeply seated in Avarice.

It is a psychological disease of an average Negro. It's even worse among the poor.

That feeling that they might become poor or never get another opportunity to spend all that money... So, they go haywire once they see wealth.

While Asians and Europeans are constantly thinking about growing and improving their societies to be world class, average African Negroes and even the ones in America are constantly thinking about oppressing their fellow men.

How do they sleep at night?
They sleep like babies, knowing fully well that hungry and underpaid imbeciles will be busy defending them on Nairaland and social media.

Every wise Nigerian will make effort to better his life within or without this nation (preferably the latter).

With this level of corruption and Wastage, the economic future of this nation is seriously in dire straits.

The result of Divide and Rule...!

The progress and financial health of this nation is not their business.

These people have secured the fortunes of their families down to the 5th generations abroad... All their kids and close relatives are citizens abroad living highly expensive lifestyles.

Meanwhile, idiotic sycophants on Nairaland and social media collect peanuts to defend them with their lives and borrowed data.

Both Oti and Sanwo Olu are wasters. Two corrupt governors.
...And what do you think other governors do?!! Drink garri and eat mama put daily to save money?!!

The amount of funds looted and wasted in this nation from national to state in the past decades underscores why this nation can never make progress economically.

Naija is gone abeg!

They just want citizens to suffer and die in order to maintain their ostentatious lifestyles.

This is precisely what George Orwell described satirically in Animal Farm.

African leaders are the biggest looters and wasters of public funds globally and historically.

E be like say these governors nor dey reason anything below Billions...!

Even drinking water for Governor and family fit pass 1.5 Billion Naira per month.

Someone well versed in Economics and finance should come and explain to us how cars, food, water, and other basic necessities the wealthiest among ordinary citizens spend less than half a million on monthly suddenly translate to Billions when it comes to the President and governors.

Dem dey cook each meal for Russia come serve them here for Naija?!!

Yes, one major problem Nigerians have is, they are largely ignorant of the law. Some of them go to the extent of buying houses without making sure that proper documentations are done.

The government has the right to demolish houses built on the wrong channels. But, the same government still has a role to be proactive. The individuals are not the only ones losing during these demolitions. These are investments and properties wasted because the builder didn't do due diligence while the government wasn't proactive enough.

Everyone knows the level of bureaucracies in government offices, even for highly sensitive matters.

Here, I'm blaming the individuals for their oversight, as well as the government for their unclear policies and for always being reactive.

THERE SHOULD BE A CLEAR COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE PEOPLE AND THE GOVERNMENT.

What stops them from putting a signpost at areas where people are not supposed to build houses? That's how it is done in other climes, even with their higher level of literacy!
Well said...!

We have such an irresponsible and partisan/bigoted government from state to federal... That's why I stated that citizens should take charge and be very careful around laws.

Properties › Re: FHA set To Demolish 677 Houses In Festac Over Contravention by Angelfrost(m): 1:24pm On Nov 20, 2023
pacesetting:
Which environmental law? Do you mean all these people that built houses there did not seek out approval from the government? I don't even want to start asking why all these demolitions shortly after the elections.

Why would a sane person decide to build a house in an area not marked for buildings? Some of these houses have been there for more than 10 years, yet no action from the government. Abi their eyes just dey see the buildings now?

The thing is, if you've ever dealt with government agencies, you'll know they are the most confused set of people. The government is very far away from the people, and their is no proper documentation of reserved areas.
You made very salient points, and I agree with you.

Unfortunately, there is always something called "ignorance of the law is no excuse for breaking the law".

The fact that no one enforces a law doesn't mean it is nonexistent. Let's learn to understand this.

Every state and city has something called geographical and Urban Master plan.

This means there are places marked for roads, pipes, drainages, trading, electricity installation, and specific areas for residential houses.

Building in undesignated areas, even if nodded on by a government official remains risky... In time to come, another government will destroy it.

I know of massive buildings set up and housing people for decades that were later demolished for the sole reason that they were blocking drainage since they were built on lands designated for such several decades ago... Or built on lands where roads and railway lines are initially meant to pass through.

The rule is to take extra pains to discuss with town planners and surveyors before proceeding with any project... Bribing officials can only be short-term relief. When the time is right in the future, that investment is going down.

The way some of us Nigerians disregard environmental laws and state building regulations when erecting properties is so alarming.

You see some buildings, and you'd be wondering who approved the building or even permitted the sale of the land.

Some even build directly on major drainages, or under power lines... Such moronic lawless citizens.

Bro forget all this propaganda going up and down.

Alex Otti is one the best performing governors in Nigeria as it stands right now.

For the first time I am seeing good governance in the commercial city of Aba and the capital Umuahia. Something we didn't see or witness under PDP 24 years of governance in Abia state.

It is bad to say that Alex Otti will be worst than his predecessor. His predecessor Okezie ikpeazu is criminal, puppet and a tout.

Ikpeazu cannot untie Alex Otti shoes. And Alex Otti cannot cannot be worse than ikpeazu. Not in this world!!

Alex Otti is a banker, investor and an economist. He has good track record. Go and check his achievement when he was the MD of Diamond bank. It is when he left then diamond bank crumbles.
For the sake of Abia citizens, I hope you are right... Alex Otti needs to deliver massively. There is so much riding on his success.

I wish him and the citizens well.

Alex Otti might end up being worse than his predecessor.

That was how Buhari dragged Jonathan about corruption and wastage, only to end up doing far worse.

We must vote APC to deal with the Igbo and obidients

This is the beginning....
You clearly haven't been paying attention...!

This economic decline started before Jonathan left office.

Okonjo-Iweala talked extensively about the nation sitting up to economic realities starting from the states... Taxations, removal of subsidies, enhanced production and internal consumption, etc.

The truth remains that we stayed lazy and unproductive for too many decades, that was why we all resisted the removal of subsidy by Jonathan in 2012, which would have set the nation on track to greatness as far back as then.

There is a price to pay for not putting one's house in order and preparing for the future.

This is beyond APC and Tinubu at this point.

If we don't start generating serious revenues across states, exporting more valuable products, refining our own petroleum products, etc, the nation will die a slow and horrible death.

It's the Law of the Jungle... Survival of the Fittest.

Subsidy era is over. So, only the financially strongest will remain as the years go by.

It's truly going to get very ugly.
