OLADD: Ignoring your kind of stupid post would have been the most preferable option but it's a disservice to commonsense if that's done. Which 52% were you expecting the FG to save from? Should the FG opt to save money at the expense of its developmental strides and other financial obligations? Should they be keeping money aside and allow Boko haram to subdue the entire country? Should they be saving money and allow the nation to be grounded because of inability to meet fuel marketers' subsidy demand? Even if there's no corruption, the 52% FG share can't solve the numerous problems facing the nation in the areas of road construction, health care delivery, security services, salaries etc. No matter what Soludo or any other sycophants say, the bulk of the blames goes to the greedy governors (led by long throated Ameachi) who held the FG by the jugular thereby forcing the later to deplete the ECA. Let's be sincere Iin our comments. this is where these savings thing gets to me. The money was not saved, and we did not see any physical manifestation of what the money was used for. If gej can be held by the jugular and forced to deplete the ECA , then he had no business being our president and commander in chief, he was a mistake! he was even shown how to save by his predecessor who did it successfully with less inflow of cash. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Can Drinking Alcohol Stop A Genuine Born Again; From Making It To Heaven? by antispexish(m): 11:58am On Apr 17, 2016 |
Peritus: The question is: how can you measure drunkenness? Is it when one has lost his sanity and is staggering and vomiting around? Taking of alcohol is discouraged if there is no good cause you intend to achieve through it. Once you take a bottle+ you may retain a firm mind, but not a firm will. You will know what you are doing but not what is doing you. People who struggle to avoid certain sin (especially the sex related ones) usually fall back to it once they drink because of lack firm control that follows such. Only if we can "de-categorize" our actions from sin and no sin to whether it pleases the Spirit of God in us/glorify God. Only if we can worry more about what the Spirit desires than what our flesh lusts for. Then, we may understand Proverb 14:12 and worship Him in truth and in SPIRIT. NLT When you arrive, you may use the money to buy any kind of food you want--cattle, sheep, goats, wine, or other alcoholic drink. Then feast there in the presence of the LORD your God and celebrate with your household. THERE IS A TIME FOR MERRIMENT, THERE IS A TIME FOR GETTING SERIOUS! |

Deadlytruth: Very clearly illustrated and simplified by you. The wailers have refused to tell us what motivated governors to go to court over savings under GEJ. It all boils down to trust. When people were wondering why Nigerians did not pour out into the streets in demonstration against Buhari for trying to remove subsidy the way they did to GEJ, I told them that it is not the removal of the subsidy that Nigerians are against but that they feared that they could not trust GEJ as regards the integrity and honesty to judiciously use the proceeds, but could trust Buhari more on that. As a good leader rather than blame the governors for deprecating his proposal to save he should have tried to find out why they did not trust him. Once people trust a leader they hardly ever resist his suggestions even if harsh and unbearable. correct! even the money they got from increase in pump price of fuel dissappeared. |

theshadyexpress: let me lecture you on how government works just incase youre ignorant
The FG's share of federal revenue has been provided for in the Appropriation act as a source of finance for the budget, the executive dare not use a dime of that money for another purpose other than what is stated in the appropriation act cos that in itself is an impeachable offence, the best bet was to source for savings from the ECA as it is monies yet to be shared and so hasn't made its way into the FG purse. does this mean the money will be spent by the FG without the consent of states by the fg? definitely no, what it means is that all excess monies will be saved in trust for all tiers of govt until such a time when there is a cash crunch and the monies will be shared with amongst all tiers with the already existing sharing formula
and if i may ask why didnt APC states also save their share too or were they not in govt during those times too? stop been ignorant it wont make you appear wise correct me if I'm wrong o , but I thought 52% of that money belong to the federal government under the control of ngozi. why did they not save that one, abi the govs forced them to spend that one too!. This is apart from the fact that they can't tell us what they spent it on o. |

My biggest gripe is holding a significant share of our reserves in yuan. We will be losing money with all sorts of forex plays that are extraneous to the market. Basically China playing with their exchange rates. China loans you in yuan and expects you to pay back in dollars should speak volumes. China holds majority of its reserves in dollars and not yuan should also say something. we are already losing money, so losing money is not the issue, how to reduce the money lost and provide a means to stop lose of money totally is the issue. I dnt think the deal includes paying back in dollars or even collecting the loan in yuan, the trade deal and loan are 2 different things |

kayfra: We have a genuine opportunity at the moment to right the ship. It will be a disaster if we don't fix the long term problem for a short term fix by being on China's leash.
At the end of the day, if most of our trades are within Nigeria like in other developed countries, then our fate won't be so dependent on foreign currencies. you are making this statement as if trading in yuan is the only thing pmb is doing. He is also making efforts on how to reduce imports on products we can't produce. moreover, there are some products that we need that we cannot produce in the next 10 years, this deal will ease that problem considerably. There are other ways to force production in nigeria while easing the cost of import that will benefit nigeria and nigerians. layman's view: toothpick from china= 5 naira toothpick from naija= 6 naira solution= importer from china pay 1 naira extra import duty. money will be used to surpport local toothpick production |

kaykaybaba: I recently saw the movie series that is based on George R.R Martin's books, and I really enjoyed the series. I realised I have had the eBooks for a long time even though I hadn't been able to get to it. Anyway I started the books right after (I rather prefer reading books before I watch their movie adaptations), and I loved the books at the start, but as I go along I'm not too sure of how I feel again. The writer doesn't seem to follow conventional rules of writing. I was wondering if anyone else has read the books/feels the same way. I wouldn't mind recommendations for other great fantasy epics as well last year, I started watching game of thrones series, but I stopped when I realised that the John snows father was actually killed( I watched some episodes after the beheading believing it was someone that looks like him that was killed and not him). For a while I was angry sha, "wish kain series be dis". then some one on nairaland mentioned that the series was from a book and I decided to download and read all. If one wants to read or watch game of thrones, just put it at the back of your mind that the author does not determine long life based on character. I kept on wishing for vengeance, but the book is more about reality and the quest for power. |
