Since my regular account has decided to do a Houdini (Modshuh), I'm making do with this one.
You all know me as a staunch unbeliver in anything Illuminati or religious, so it may come as a shock to most that I'm courting the idea. It's just that if you watch Rihanna's Where Have You Been video, you'll do more than court. Now This doesn't mean that I'm converting, far from it. It only means that the "symbolism" (if there's such a thing) is so very blatant. So let's take a look, shall we:
Please why didnt you provide your source? There is no way you did the work. As long as you are Nigerian, i doubt you are this intelligent,

jay bee: The contestants were judged and allocated appropriate scores against each of the following criteria:
Content
Delivery
Logical Argument
Factual Back
Persuasiveness

I held no view prior to the start of the debate and my scoring was solely based on the delivery of each contestants against the criteria set out by the organising committee
Just wondering, hows logical argument different from delivery from persuasiveness?
PoliticsRe: Bigotry And Hardline Posture The Causes Of BH, Plateau Crises - Simon Kolawole by antitpiah: 8:02am On Jul 23, 2012
PhysicsQED: Thanks for the info.

I disagree with his idea.

It sounds like the perfect way to set the stage for future controversies and disputes.

And anyway, until there is an actual Nigerian nationalism such as that which exists in a few other multicultural countries this will not actually work.
Very well said.
PoliticsRe: Bigotry And Hardline Posture The Causes Of BH, Plateau Crises - Simon Kolawole by antitpiah: 7:55am On Jul 23, 2012
Jarus: I have always respected Simon Kolawole, and he never disappoints.

He is to me the best columnist in the country today. He may snot be at par with the Sam Omatseyes of thsi word in wordsmithery, but his ideas on resolving the national problems are the best among Nigeria's legion of public commentators.

He is very detribalized, and hardly let religious affiliation becloud his opinions. The government can learn a lot from reading, digesting and taking clues from this guy's propositions.

I fully agree with all his submissions in the above piece, as with his other writings.
How was he DE-tribalized? So he used to be tribalized and then was de-tribalized? Who or what de-tribalized him?

rofl. You expect too much from Nigerian writers. The fact that he actually can write is more than enough for me. I'd take that. He is no David Brooks or Ezra Klein or Rachel maddow. He is a Nigerian . . . Nuff said.

naijaking1: Belief in juju is directly proportional to degree of ignorance
Thats not true. i wouldn't have passed WAEC without my "ogun isoye."

I didnt study at all and I ended with very good grades. Good grades, depending on your standard. As far as I am concerned, they were good enough. Maybe not good enough for university admission, but good enough to impress my local Oba.
LiteratureRe: Nairaland's Literary & Debating Day - FINALS by antitpiah:
kandiikane: Excuse me, did you go to school? Who told you this rubbish? It's not like he quoted a sentence or paraphrased a sentence and referenced the author. He lifted whole sections of it and pretended it was his. If this was a university coursework, he will fail it because he cheated
First of all, let he who has no sin cast the first stone. Judge not lest you be judged. I dont know why you are getting all worked up over some stupiddd debate where all the participants cheated. Shymmex was just unfortunate to have been caught. It is not as if the other contestants didnt cheat. They all did. They all plagiarized, in one way or the other. Secondly, this is not a university, and it will be stupidd and pompous of any of us to judge them by the same standard universities use. The rules of the debate were vague and wasnt well articulated from the start. Not sure if even the judges know what plagiarism entails. Thirdly, it is a freaking debate, I mean, you didnt expect him or anyone else for that matter to come up with an original idea, do you? He has to rely on other people's work, which frankly they all did. Fourthly, the ideas they all presented are already in the public domain. Simply stated, there is nothing they said that is not already out there, which raises the question: Whose truth is it anyway?

Dont take these people seriously. Please save your energy for people more familiar with the situation on ground. Manny4life and Ezeushe are both college kids with prepubescence mind set living their "we-own-Lagos" dream vicariously on their meager pell grant refund, none of them can find his way to/around Lagos, even with a GPS in hand.

Talking to a wall is way more productive than exchanging words with these e-warriors.

EzeUche: What Victor Banjo could not do through war, we Igbos are doing it through peace.

Without Lagos, the Yoruba are nothing. grin
You probably cant locate Lagos on the map, and here you are discussing it as if your father owns Lagos. Lagos is not DC, DC is in America, Lagos is in sub-saharan Africa, two different locations **** just so you know****

Elebiju: pls try to update ur self before contributing in forums like this, google is there to enlight u and pls spell check ur words before posting
Anyways, as I was saying: from Google, a comma in writing is like a pause inside a sentence when speaking. We use commas inside sentences. Commas separate parts of a sentence into logical elements. Commas have no meaning, but they help us to see the structure and therefore the meaning of the sentence. Put a space after a comma.

PS:"Enlighten" is the proper word to use

Nairaland GeneralRe: Nairalander Wins 2012 CNN African Journalist Award (Tourism Category) by antitpiah: 6:23am On Jul 22, 2012
bayooooooo: Reading stuffs like this make me sick, sad and sober. When are we going to have CNN Awards for Europeans, for Americans journalists?
If you are good at all work for great outfits, be a world class and stop chasing all these racist awards that do nothing other than to set up Africa as a foil to Europe and antithesis to America.

It sounds very much like the familiar nonsense we celebrate on this forum- celebrating the most brilliant black students in class when they are not the best in their respective classes in Europe, in America as if we are trying to be human, fighting to be accepted as part of human race. It's such a sad thing. Why are we depersonalizing Africa, why are we cheapening our race? Why do we always debase our person? Why?

If you can not win an award that's truly global, if you can not compete in a world league, keep whatever demeaning racist bullsh!t you called award to yourselves.
Compete in a world league? You want African journalists to compete with Europeans and the Americans? From what stand point if I may ask? Do you read Nigerian newspapers? The best Nigerian newspaper cant compete with my college Newspaper. For starters, Nigerian journalists, including the most experienced of them all, write at the third grade level. I really cant pinpoint what the problem is; the fact that we are naturally inferior to them, English being non-native to us, or we arent just as well educated. How ever you look at it, we are not on the same level, they've gone way ahead of us and it will take a miracle for us to catch up with them, and ten life-times of non-stop hard work on our part to equal what they've been able to achieve in this life alone.
